My Fave No White Cast/POC Friendly Sunscreens
My fav no white cast sunscreens!! Sunscreen is so important to incorporate into your daily routine. But I know how difficult it can be to find a sunscreen that doesn’t leave a white cast when you’re applying it in order to get the right amount of coverage (two finger rule!) I’ve noticed that a lot of sunscreens will claim to have no white cast but when I try it with two finger lengths full of sunscreen- i look white as a ghost. These are my favorite sunscreens that dont leave white casts!! Black Girl Sunscreen- This is so so good!! I will say, it’s pretty oily and probably not the best for oily skin. I personally love the finish especially in the winter months when my skin gets SUPER dry and I have more eczema flare ups. It leave NO white cast + it doesnt have a super sunscreeny chemically smell! They also just came out with a new matte sunscreen for oily skin. BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 Acure Serioulsy Soothing SPF Day Cream- This stuff is pretty good. Its kind of drying but I absolutely LOVE mixing this sunscreen with my others (1 finger of each). I really just use this one to balance out the oiliness of the other ones if I need it! It does take some work to really blend it in but the finish is really nice! This sunscreen alone would be great for people with oily skin! ACURE - Seriously Soothing SPF 30 Day Cream Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor- I didn’t love or hate this one initially when I first reviewed it. But now I LOVE it. Its perfect for my skin now that it’s colder and my skin is super super dry. It smells amazing and goes on really well. The smell is SUPER strong though, so it may not be the best for people with fragrance sensitivities. FENTY SKIN - Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Habit SPF- I felt the same about this SPF as I did with the Fenty Skin SPF. I didn’t love or hate it. But now I’m really enjoying it because of my winter skin changes. There is also the convenience factor of it being a spray which makes it super easy to reapply. But, I REALLY don’t like to use this when I’m wearing makeup. It just kind of ruins my face makeup honestly but I don’t wear makeup much these days bc of quarantine so this hasn’t been a huge problem for me. HABIT - N°41 Mister Some other SPF’s that don’t leave white casts: Disclaimer- I haven’t personally tried any of these but I only listed ones that multiple people have recommended! Super goops sunscreens (I believe all of their sunscreens are white cast free) Krave Beet Shield Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream Flesh beauty sheer flesh ALSO!! Remember to wear sunscreen even in the winter + on non sunny days!
Chemical Sunscreen Verzuz
One thing about me: I love a mineral sunscreen because of the way it interacts with the skin as a physical barrier on top versus being absorbed like a chemical sunscreen, but I will say one of these sunscreens is a strong contender for my favorite. Any guesses which one?👀 Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 A chemical sunscreen after my own heart. The first time I put this on, I was amazed by how smooth it felt. It didn’t smell strong or remind me of the beach. If I wore makeup, I could see this easily being layered with my other products. Down side: As minimal as it was, I have felt some irritation using this sunscreen and it’s no surprise because it’s a chemical sunscreen (chemical sunscreens have a lot more ingredients compared to mineral ones, so it can be hard to pinpoint what ingredient causes a reaction if you have one). FENTY SKIN - Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen I wanted to love it, I did, but I’m scared of fragrance especially when I have to put it on my skin. This moisturizing spf does smell sweet. This one actually reminded me of my beach visits because it has that typical sunscreen scent once the floral one wares off. Some I’m still dealing with my acne, I don’t want to take too many chances with the products I use, so overall I’ll be sticking to mineral sunscreen. What have y’all experienced with chemical sunscreens?

oily skin & don’t know how to manage? I got you
this post is for all the people who have oily skin and sometimes just don’t know how to deal with it! well i’m here for some tips! I have oily/combo skin and I’ve learnt some important info during my skincare journey that I would love to share with you all 🤗 1. still moisturise it is super important for people with oily skin to keep up with moisturising ! you may think that your skin is hydrated and doesn’t need any extra moisture, but it still really does. if you don’t moisturise, or use products to keep your skin hydrated, your skin can overcompensate with releasing it’s natural oils, which in hand, can make your skin more oily 2. don’t be afraid of oils whether this is oil cleansing or any certain type of oil (rosehip, squalane etc), don’t be hesitant to use these products just because of your skin type. for me, oils have made a huge difference to my skin, especially oil cleansing! one thing to remember with oil cleansing, is that oils attract oils, and therefore are oil soluble. products like this help to get rid of grease, blackheads etc and can be great for oily skin! 3. use products targeted for oily skin I know that this one is quite self explanatory, but here are some products that helped my oily skin become more manageable! - niacinamide. this ingredient is amazing for oily skin ! it helps to decrease oil production from within the skin. my fav product is NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% , but I also don’t mind The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% -exfoliation. now with this I don’t mean physical exfoliation, but chemical exfoliation! my favourite exfoliant has to be PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator this one is my HOLY GRAIL product of them all ! I have many posts on this product so be sure to check those out for an in depth description. - clay face masks. these are good for absorbing oil and giving your face a matte finish. some of my favs are PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Balancing Oil-Absorbing Mask AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay I hope this helps and if you have any questions, feel free to comment 🌟🥰
BEST INGREDIENTS FOR ACNE
My favorite acne fighting/treating ingredients 🙌🏼 PC: Me (IG: @skinbymeegan)
WHAT IS A CARBOXY CO2 MASK? ☁️
It is a new anti-aging skin correcting technology. Activating bubbles are absorbed into the skin without injection to increase oxygen and the skins ability to assimilate necessary nutrients and eliminate destructive toxins. ☁️CO2 Carboxy therapy helps boost skin’s metabolism and natural production of oxygen providing deep down hydration. Skin looks dramatically brighter, fresher, even-toned, less-lined and supple after first use. Also effective for bruise, swell and acne treatment. ☁️CO2 promotes the rise of Oxygen (O2) supply which is critical for cell metabolism. When CO2 is produced between the gel and the mask, the gel preserves and transfers it to the skin. ☁️When the skin absorbs CO2, it starts physiological reactions that enhance the skin condition. After one treatment you will see immediate results in skin tone, smoothing of fine wrinkles and extremely soft skin.
Empties Part Deux
🍡 Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil: Will and have repurchased. This is a lovely lightweight oil that sinks into the skin almost immediately and leaves my skin soft and glowy all day. The texture on this one is just an absolute 10/10. 🍡 Farmacy Honey Grail Ultra Hydrating Face Oil: I can’t say how sad I am that this is empty. I am currently on a no but but I plan to repurchase this one in the future. This is a rich, antioxidant packed facial oil that leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft. It goes on a little sticky (it does contain honey) but sinks in very quickly and leaves my skin feeling unbelievably soft. I love this one especially if my skin is having any irritation, redness, acne, or any kind of freak out. It calms my skin right down and gives me a beautiful glow. 🍡 Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun: A chemical SPF 50 PA ++++ sunscreen containing skin soothing ingredients such as centella asciatica, hyaluronic acid, and tocopherol. This sunscreen is vegan, cruelty free, and free of oxybenzone, parabens, artificial fragrance, PEGs, propylene glycol, and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (wow that’s a word). So if you’re sensitive to a lot of sunscreens this might be a good one for you to try. However if you are sensitive to essential oils definitely opt for the unscented one because this one has a very potent lavender scent. That being said I was not irritated at all by the scent and found this to be a lovely, lightweight sunscreen. Would purchase again but I’m a bit of a connoisseur with sunscreens so I rarely repeat them. 🍡 Kate Somerville Kx Active Concentrates Ceramides + Omega Serum: a lovely lightweight barrier replenishing and skin soothing serum. This made my skin very very soft and helped minimize my redness. An amazing serum for winter or for any skin in distress. I do not know if I would repurchase at this time mostly because of the price but I have gone through two bottles and I really love this serum. (Continues in comments) 🍡 CosRx Honey Ceramide Full Moisture Cream: This is an amazing dupe for the Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream. The CosRx is a little more lightweight than the Dr Jart but it had the exact same effects on my skin. This left my skin feeling incredibly soft in the morning and really minimized any irritation or redness I had. 🍡 Tarte Cosmetics Knockout Tingling Treatment: I love this stuff. This is a 10% lactic and salicylic blend and it knocks out any texture, congestion, or dullness without irritating my skin. And this bottle lasted me about a year.
Pre-Gym Morning Skincare: Anti-Redness Routine!
Before I go to the gym, I try to keep it as simple as possible! But some mornings, I need to deviate from the moisturizer+sunscreen formula to add in some extra soothing ingredients for my sensitive combination skin. My skin is acne prone, so I layer lightweight serums to get the job done: • NIOD - Modulating Glucosides utilizes a variety of nerd-worthy ingredients, that would take an entire post to list off and describe, to soothe skin from the inside-out, minimizing redness that stems from irritation. It has a uniquely plopping texture that manages to be entirely a serum yet have a creamy consistency. A good moisture boost without causing shininess. • PAULA'S CHOICE - CBD Skin Transformative Treatment Milk is a delightfully milky, lightweight serum that soaks in quickly for a dose of moisturizing oils, hydrating humectants, and soothing CBD and centella asiatica extract amongst a variety of antioxidants. Always fantastic to apply the morning after tret! • PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 is my hands-down favourite sunscreen. It doesn’t last through sweating, so I‘d only use it pre-workout if you workout inside and plan on reapplying sunscreen after! It is extremely lightweight, closer to a watery serum than a traditional liquid sunscreen! It soaks in quickly, offering intense hydration and soothing power thanks to a bunch of antioxidants, including two green tea extracts and vitamin e.

Oily Skin Glow Up ✨
I know usually when you have oily skin the last thing you want to do is have a glowy complexion. Usually it’s matte everything. Mayttifying Toner. Matte primer. Matte foundation. But there are the occasional times I like a little bit of glow to my skincare. I believe there is a line between oily and glowing and you can achieve it with the right products. I, personally, have oily acne prone skin. When I want a little bit more of a glow I go with this routine: 1.) Cleanse - GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Cleansing Gel Gel cleansers are amazing for oily skin! You’re going to get the deep cleanse you need without stripping your skin. I like the fact this one has vitamin C included which is going to help give your skin a boost to brighten a dull complexion. 2.) Treat - Murad - Vitamin C Glycolic Brightening Serum As much as I like the cleanser including vitamin C you’re going to get the most benefits out of a leave on treatment. This treatment pairs vitamin C with glycolic acid to give you a brighter, healthier looking complexion. The glycolic acid (which is great for oily skin!) is a chemical exfoliator that buffs away the dull dead skin cells to enhance the delivery of the vitamin C. It also has a little bit of a shimmer to the product which gives you a beautiful lit from within glow. It absorbs easily and feels really lightweight so oily skin isn’t bogged down all day like it can with other “glowy” products. 3.) Moisturize - GLAMGLOW - Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow (travel size) Now if I really want to have a glow I pull this out. You can really replace this with any gel moisturizer you have but this one does have a bit of nude shimmer in it that will help contribute to your glow up! It’s a very light weight gel consistency and a little goes a long way. 4.) Sunscreen - KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 If you’re exfoliating or using vitamin C you HAVE to wear sunscreen. No ifs, ands, or buts. You have to. Those products, as beneficial as they are, make your skin a lot more photosensitive to the sun. 90% of aging comes from UVA/UVB rays so we need to help prevent this as much as possible. The Kinship sunscreen is a mineral sunscreen that is reef safe and designed for acne prone skin. This sunscreen has a little bit of a peach, glowy tint that rubs into the skin transparent but with a little bit of a glow. It highlights turmeric which soothes the skin (which you’ll need if you’re exfoliating) as well as strengthens and protects damaged skin. It also has kinbiome which will help strengthen your skin barrier. I received the Georgette Klinger as a gift the beginning of the month and I’ve been using it ever since. The Murad and Kinship I received in the 5th edition of the Trendmood box and they became immediate favorites. I’ve had a few Glamglow travel samples for quite a few years now.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.4 DAYS AGO
