I have a distressed nail: now what?!

So your nail is cracked or the top layer is peeling and you need to save it before it breaks... I GOT YOU 👏🏻 Here are some tips to save your nail: Use an acetone-free nail polish remover to remove any leftover polish from your nail and any excess oils. I use this one: up&up - Strengthening Nail Polish Remover
Wash your hands: do this in general, but especially after using the acetone free nail polish remover. This ensures that you won’t be trapping any bacteria under any nail treatments we’ll be using! Use a nail strengthening treatment. I use this base coat which has helped me grow my nails SO LONG (by my standards) as someone who used to have a habit of biting their nails: ORLY - Orly Base Coat & Top Coat
my only beef with this product is that it usually pees off within a few days if you don’t seal it with a top coat or other nail polish on top. Use a THICK top coat on top of the treatment, or continue painting your nails as usual. This will create a barrier/shield between you and the distressed nail area and will leave it less vulnerable. You can repeat this as necessary, weekly until the distressed nail area is far enough grown out that you feel comfortable filing it down or cutting it off. Some of my nails are super brittle so I have to use strengthening treatments on them in order for them to remain healthy and long as they grow! What are your favorite nail treatments? #CheriePartner

this week’s at-home mani/pedi 💅🏾💦 poolside!
we just got back from a lovely staycation, which gave me some good opportunities to relax and pamper. i tried another mani.me product - this time its ManiMe - To Have and To Hold . the design was really cute - the majority of the nail is a sheer pink shade, and there is a silver moon at the cuticle. it’s very similar to my wedding manicure! mani.me was pretty easy to use - the only trouble that i have is smoothing down the edges for a few of the nails. i have shorter nails, so i use a nail clipper + file to get a close, smooth final look. for toes, i used all of my holy grail products - ORLY - Orly Base Coat & Top Coat as the base coat, OPI - Long Lasting Nail Polish in ‘put it in neural’ core color, and OLIVE&JUNE - Nail Polish Topcoat for my top coat. all of these products *just* *work*. i have been doing at-home manicures since the start of COVID lockdown and these are my favorites in each category.

this week’s at-home mani 💁🏾‍♀️ with OPI!
i used to exclusively wear lavender nail polish - it’s feminine, flirty, a little unexpected ... but still pretty neutral and (dare i say) professional (at least a little bit!). i was so happy to come across this OPI - Infinite Shine Nail Polish Strengthening in ‘polly want a lacquer?’ it’s a gorgeous spring/summer shade. the infinite shine formula is pretty sturdy - i can go at least five days with no chips, which is pretty good for a non-gel polish. i definitely want to check out more of these shades. i can’t reiterate enough that ORLY - Orly Base Coat & Top Coat and OLIVE&JUNE - Nail Polish Topcoat are the best base and top coat products that i have tried. the olive & june product even creates a gel manicure-like look - i highly recommend these products.

Have you experienced broken nails? I have hacks to fix it! Only 5 min!
Have you experienced broken nails? I have hacks to fix it! Only 5 min!
I believe that most of us have experienced unfortunate accident result in the breaking, tearing or splitting of a nail. Broken nails can be both painful and unattractive, and while you may think your only option is to cut the nail back to the quick, there's actually a nifty little beauty hack you can try, which takes less than 5 minutes to put your nail back together.  What you will need: A teabag, emptied of tea leaves Clear nail polish Scissors A nail file Step #1  Using the scissors, cut out a small rectangle of fabric from the tea bag that is long enough to cover almost the whole length of your nail, and wide enough to reach both sides of the nail.  Step #2 Push the broken part of your nail back into place as much as is possible, then coat the whole nail in one layer of clear nail polish. While the polish is still wet, lay the rectangle of teabag fabric over your nail, smoothing it out against the polish to enhance it adheres to both the broken part of the nail, and the the rest of your nail.  Step #3 Apply another coat of clear nail polish over the whole nail and the teabag fabric. Wait for it to dry.  Step #4 Us the nail file to file away the excess fabric from the tip of your nail. Step #5 The next step is the regular manicure process and apply your favorite nail polish. In order to avoid broken nails, I'd like to recommend a curticle oil to you guys which is my recent favorite! It's L'OCCITANE - Shea Nail And Cuticle Oil.It's about $20. THIS IS AMAZING. So worth the price, the shea butter infusion in the product is so refreshing to your nails and cuticles. It goes on greasy, but drys to a hand-cream like type of moisturized finish. I wear a lot of press-on nails when I get in drag, and this cuticle oil keeps my nails healthy and refreshed after the constant wear and tear.

What makes my nails shiny? My secret is...
What makes my nails shiny? My secret is...
When I do my nails art at home, I usually start with a base coat product. I noticed that manicurists (at good nail salons) always give me that. I have thin nails, that means most of the nail products irritate my nails. I recommend this Fast&Shiny base coat from Kiko, because it doesn't hurt my nails. If you have those sensitive nails, you must use nail base coat. And It's a great way to protect your nails from colored nail polish. Feels like applying a protector for your nails before the nail paint. Also acts as a good top coat. It Leaves nail paint with a tint of shine. The product says it can be as a base coat and/or as a top coat after applying nail polish, maybe for some people. As for me, it's too sticky to use it as a top coat. And I bought another one for the top. But use as a base coat, I HIGHLY Recommend! Applied as a base coat, it protects the nails and the nail polish color. Used as a nail polish, it adds shine to the nails and helps the manicure last longer. And it's called Fast & Shiny, it’s really dries fast, about 60 seconds and shines nails. And the formula contains nail hardening ingredients. It looks nice, too. The modern, exclusive packaging includes a transparent glass bottle with a silver outer cap decorated on top with the KK logo. The applicator has an ergonomic grip, making it easy to hold, while the flat brush packed with 1000 transparent bristles smoothly applies the product. Base coat can really help nail polish last longer. If you're wondering if a base coat makes a difference, it totally does! It protects your nail from turning a funky color from your polish, and it also seems to help your nail color apply more evenly and dry faster.

My secret to having healthy nails is...🤫🤫🤫
My secret to having healthy nails is...🤫🤫🤫
I used to be a terrible nail biter and this product has been an amazing help on my road to kicking the habit and finally growing strong healthy nails. And my nails are super thin, when I would get my nails done, the nail beds would be sore for days after they were done. I have been using the Sally Hansen Advanced Product half of summer and my nails have been stronger and more beautiful than ever. Sally Hansen - Advanced Hard as Nails Natural I started using Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails as a base coat before applying my favorite color polish on top and I've notice quite a difference already in just a few weeks. My nails are no longer splitting, peeling, cracking, or bending. My nails have held together and almost grown out the old brittle area in just a few weeks. It works as a great base coat with most polishes, though I've found it especially effective when used with OPI colors and topcoats. It dries quick and I only need two coats of polish for it to be opaque, even with light colors that would usually need three. It leaves my nails longer. Pro TIP: Be sure to paint the tips of your nails, brushing it perpendicular to the front tip of your nail. My polish lasts three weeks and never chips from my fingertips. If you’re trying to improve your nails, definitely get this stuff! If you use it regularly it DOES really do wonders. It works well for matte nail polish as it gives a really glossy look to the nails. You just apply to the nail as a base coat after applying nail polish. Recommend this brand!

How I Grew My Nails Out
How I Grew My Nails Out
I loooove having long nails. I actually had acrylic nails for years and every nail tech would comment on the health and strength of my nails! Last year I decided I would start doing my gel manicures at home, hoping that the gel alone would be strong enough to maintain healthy, long nails! Well it wasn't, I would spend time doing my nails perfectly and growing them out but I'd get little tears at the edges of nails and broken nails every week! I didn't want to go back to acrylic because my nails were so much healthier without them, so I tried dip nails. It was a FAIL. Then I found builder gel! Builder gel is similar to regular gel polish, with a few exceptions: It's super strong and actually comparable to acrylic in strength. It goes on like gel polish It removes just like gel polish I use builder gel that comes in a gel polish bottle, they do have some versions that come in a pot. My favorite is the THE gel BOTTLE - White Biab Builder in a Bottle or BIAB. It comes in different shades of nude, clear and white. There is a learning curve when learning how to use it because you need to understand what nail structure is. Over applying or not applying enough can cause your nails to break! I apply at least two coats of BIAB every time I do my nails usually opting to completely remove my previous gel each time. Like acrylic it can be infilled and doesn't need to be removed! There are a few different brands that have builder gels like Orly, Luxa and Gelish! #CheriePartner

Dos✅ and Don’ts❌ for Nail Cuticle Treatments!
Dos✅ and Don’ts❌ for Nail Cuticle Treatments!
Because my skin is so delicate, it's easy for my hands and nails to become dry and damaged, leading to cracking, peeling and ripping that is uncomfortable, which even led to infection.   Since I realized the importance of cuticle, I started to heal it. After trying a variety of approaches, I have found some very useful tips to share with you sis who have the same nail problems as me.   Dos The best way to take care of your cuticles is to keep them moisturized and then leave them alone. I'm using this one cuticle oil L'OCCITANE - Shea Nail And Cuticle Oilfor three weeks and there has been a noticeable effect.   Soak our fingertips in warm water. Submerge for 20 minutes and use a soft washcloth to gently push back your cuticles.   Slather on moisturizing hand cream every night, and slip on a pair of cotton gloves before you go to bed. Sleep in your gloves so that your hand cream has a chance to soak into your cuticles and heal them.   Don’ts   Don't use clippers or cut your cuticles, which could cause infections and more damage.   Don't pick. Give your cuticles the chance to heal by avoiding pushing them or picking at them with your fingernails. Never have your cuticles removed or cut. It can cause injury and infection. Tips If you wear nail polish, always use a polish remover that's acetone free. Acetone can exacerbate cuticle damage!

💅You can't get perfect nails without a BASE COAT
💅You can't get perfect nails without a BASE COAT
Everyone may know base coat, but not everyone realizes the importance of base coat.   Base coat can strengthen nails, isolate nails from nail polish, and protect them from excessive nail polish damage.   Base coat is also an important basic step for nail art. Without it, your nail art won’t be durable and the effect of coloring will not be so ideal. It will also increase the difficulty of removing the nail polish later.   Base coat can be used as a stand-alone treatment or as a base coat alternative. It can be said that no base coat, no beautiful nail.   It takes a lot of learning to tell the difference of kinds of base coats, because you have to choose basing on your nail types. For example, for those have soft, damaged and brittle nails, a nail strengthener is needed.   OPI - Nail Envy Nail Strengthener Original Formula I’m so impressed with OPI Nail Envy Strengthener, which is a miracle product for too weak nails to break off. I bought one because of the good reviews and it worked great indeed.   This base coat contains hydrolyzed wheat protein and calcium, helping build manicure ready nails that are harder, longer and stronger than ever before. It also adds protein to improve the brightness of natural nails.   In order to better results, follow the instructions. 2 coats the first day followed by 1 coat every other day for a week, then take off and repeat.   After about two weeks, there was a noticeable difference in the nails that had Nail Envy, the edges lifting stopped. And the nails are no longer thin and split, becoming strong enough to file them.   This product is also suitable for girls who try to get longer nails, use as directed over a period of time and you can get the length before they would break or tear from being so soft.   In short, I will buy and use this product for as long as it is available.
