My favorite ingredient for sun protection
Y’allllllllllllll! I want to hear about all of your favorite sunscreens in the comments! Telll meee about them and why you love them! Okay so. My skin’s absolute favorite SPFs all include zinc oxide. Zinc oxide is generally considered the safest and most effective ACTIVE sunscreen ingredient. This is so important to me because I have sensitive, acne prone skin and I cannot risk damaging or irritating it with sunscreen (which is supposed to protect your skin anyway AM I RIGHT??) so using this non-irritating ingredient is a must for me. Enter: the sunscreen on my freaking dreams—PAULA'S CHOICE - Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30

Morning Routine- Paula’s Choice
Hi guys! I recently purchased some new products from Paula’s Choice and decided to update my morning skin care routine. Thought I would share my routine here and then give you an update in a few months to let you know how the products performed! My skin: oily/combo, dehydrated patches from using tretinoin at night, clogged pores and comedonal acne, PIH, not sensitive. CLEANSER: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin I’ve been using this for months and love it. Does a great job of removing everything yet not stripping my skin. One of the game changers in my routine has been cleansing for longer (30-60 sec) and GENTLY (don’t scrub or rub at your skin). TONER: PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore-Reducing Toner While toners aren’t necessary in general, this one I cannot live without. It is so hydrating and has my skin feeling so good. It contains niacinamide to help diminish look of pores and control oil. ESSENCE: COSRX - Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence I use this more as a serum than an “essence” but I like it a lot. Contains niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Very hydrating yet perfect for my oily skin. EXFOLIANT: PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator Got this as a free sample. Only used it twice but I was surprised by how gentle and hydrating it was during application. However, my skin was pretty dry the next morning. I’m currently only using it once a week since I also use a strong retinoid at night. (Not a dealbreaker for me but this product smells BAD). TREATMENT: PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster Azelaic acid has so many benefits and I’m sure you don’t need me to list them all here. Bought mostly to help fade PIH from acne spots. I use this 3-4 times per week. This formulation also includes salicylic acid so I don’t use this on the same day as the exfoliant. Azelaic acid is safe to use with almost any other skin care active. EYE CREAM: VERSED - VACATION EYES Brightening Eye Gel I haven’t made up my mind on eye creams in general yet but decided to try this to see if it helps with dark circles (contains vitamin C). I doubt it will but I’ll give it more time and update you all. SUNSCREEN: PAULA'S CHOICE - Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 Have used this twice and already it’s one of my favourite sunscreens. I’m partial to mineral sunscreens and I was surprised how light, easily spreadable and beautiful this looks and feels on my skin. It doesn’t leave a white cast or make my skin greasy. Has an amazing satin matte finish. This formula also contains antioxidants and resveratrol! Not super hydrating so if you have drier skin I’d place a moisturizer underneath, but for me it’s fine on its own. Let me know what you think!
🇦🇺 SPF products review 🌞 for normal-oily skin
In Australia we are fast approaching Summer, in fact as of the time I am writing this, the first day of summer is tomorrow, December 1st! Using sunscreen is important all year around, rain or shine, but even more especially in Summer. Here are some of the more recent face sunscreens that I have been able to buy here in Australia, and my thoughts 😊 LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios XL Ultra-Light Fluid SPF 50+ This purchase was disappointing for me. The scent is so strong! Whilst I don't have sensitivity to fragrance that I have seen, I do like to avoid it where possible. The other thing I didn't like about this product is that it is so hard to flawlessly blend in! The plus of buying a tinted SPF is the ease of blending it into the skin and being able to avoid the white cast, but it is just so streaky! I have tried to use it twice, the second time I wiped it off and went in with a different suncreen, because it was that unusable! Really sad about this as I generally really love La Roche Posay products. Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-touch Sunscreen, SPF 30 I love this product! It is everything it says, 'ultra sheer', 'clear face, for acne prone skin' (which I have) and a 'water light texture.' This product is oil free and perfect for blemish prone normal or oily skin, I can't rave about it enough! PAULA'S CHOICE - Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 I love this product! It has a slight tint to assist blending in, but I wouldn't call it coverage or think of it as a BB cream or anything, it just helps with white cast, at least on me. The ingredient list is what makes this product for me. The inclusion of ingredients like willow bark extract and bisabolol is really nice to see in a suncreen. That said, I believe retails at about $33AUD? I'll consider buying it again on sale when I run out, but I know I'm happy and safe with Neutrogena. it Cosmetics - it Cosmetics CC+ Cream Oil-Free Matte SPF 40 I really do like this product, it is so much thicker than I expected, and for a BB cream, it actually has more coverage than what I see in some of my foundations! It has taken some finesse to figure out the best way to blend it in, and I have found that running it between my fingers, patting it all around my face, blending a little with my fingers and then buffing it right in with a kabuki brush had given me the best result. #Cancer Council - Face Day Wear BB Cream[products]#[FiveStars] This product would be specific to Australia, as I can't find a link to it. It's the consistency of foundation, and a little bit less coverage than the IT cosmetics product, but still very decent. It is a little bit easier to apply also. This is such a good product for quickly slapping it on when you aren't doing anything to important in the day. Overall, I love them all except the La Roche Posay, and I would consider buying the non tinted version to see how that is. I recommend the other products for sure 😊 Thanks for reading! 🇦🇺🌞
Some of my Favourite Sunscreens
#sunscreensaturday reminder that the best anti-aging and anti-hyperpigmentation product you can use is sunscreen. UV rays worsen hyperpigmentation and stress skin, causing photo-aging that prematurely ages skin. Here are some sunscreen recommendations: • Supergoop! - CC Cream Daily Correct Broad Spectrum SPF 35 Sunscreen is going to be good for folks that won’t wear solitary SPF, instead preferring augmented makeup or moisturizers. CC Cream is a medium-coverage color-corrector and mineral sunscreen. It covers hyperpigmentation and acne very well, and didn’t clog my pores, but I personally prefer a more sheer coverage. It runs on the light side so I would go a shade darker- I should have gotten Medium and I wear G6/G7 in Glossier Skin Tint. • Supergoop! - Zincscreen 100% Mineral Lotion SPF 40 PA+++ is another mineral sunscreen, this time very lightly pink-hued and sheer. This leaves no white cast and brightens my skin nicely, contains antioxidants, and leaves a glowy finish that doesn’t look greasy. This is probably my second favourite sunscreen! Wonderful for sensitive skin. • Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 is a favourite of many oily/combo skin folks, including me on days I feel I went too heavy with my moisturizer. It subtly corrects the complexion, blurring enlarged pores and minor blemishes. It’s a wonderful pre-makeup SPF, though the silicone feel makes it specifically a primer SPF for me • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 is another mineral sunscreen, loaded with antioxidants and perfect for those with dry or normal skin. I do find it too heavy for summer use, but it’s heaven-sent in fall and winter for keeping my skin happy in blustery winds. I haven’t ever noticed a white cast and it doesn’t clog my pores. • PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 is my new favourite sunscreen, and is a chemical sunscreen. It is packed with antioxidants, doesn’t clog pores, leaves a healthy satin finish, wears well under makeup, leaves no white cast, and -best of all- feels so, so light on the skin. It honestly feels more like a serum than a sunscreen to me, making me more likely to reapply throughout the day versus my usual spray sunscreen reapplication. I would recommend this for any skin type!

EltaMd Skincare is my go-to face and décolleté sunscreen. I can’t stress enough the importance of incorporating sunscreen into your daily routine. The lightweight EltaMD sunscreens are formulated with transparent zinc oxide and are noncomedogenic, sensitivity-free, fragrance-free and paraben-free. Their sunscreens range from 30-55 SPF and are endorsed by by the Skin Cancer Foundation. Oil-free EltaMD UV Clear (my favorite) helps calm and protect sensitive skin types prone to discoloration and breakouts associated to acne and rosacea. It contains niacinamide (vitamin B3), hyaluronic acid and lactic acid, ingredients that promote the appearance of healthy-looking skin. Very lightweight and silky, it may be worn with makeup or alone. Choose from tinted and untinted formulas for use every day. EltaMD UV Elements is a 100% physical sunscreen in a tinted, moisturizing base. It is gentle for even the most sensitive skin types, including post-procedure skin. Its chemical-free actives, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, provide safe but sure sun protection. These mineral-based UV filters work with ultra-hydrating hyaluronic acid to protect and hydrate the skin. UV Elements has a universal tint that beautifully enhances most skin tones for a more youthful appearance.

Paula’s Choice Youth Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50: This has quickly become my favorite spf of all time for my combination oily skin. I wear this everyday and forget that I even applied a sunscreen because this is so lightweight. The consistency of this spf is very runny and water like. It blends into the skin quickly and absorbs so fast that there is no need to wait for the shine to settle down. It doesn’t leave a white cast on the skin and does not leave an oily or greasiness behind. Although I love this, I recommend this to those with oily skin, if you have dry skin I highly recommend the Krave Beet Shield, a long time favorite. The worlds safest glow 😍
There are so many good things about this I don’t even know where to start. Obviously supergoop makes the best formulated sunscreens I’ve ever tried, no white cast, never sticky, and smooths out your complexion beautifully. Enter glowscreen and add the most insane luminous finish I’ve ever seen with NO glitter, glitz, or anything like that. This is legit the most lit from within just got off the beach dewy goddess finish I have ever seen. It also makes my makeup (I use CC cream or tinted moisturizer but i tested with legit foundation too) SOOO glowy and beautiful. Also acts as a solid primer and i would argue that you could def use this solely as primer and skip others if you like things simple. Will buy for the rest of my life & for everyone I know. Also, friendly reminder that you should be wearing sunscreen everyday bc this also protects against blue light AKA your phone that is shoved in your face all day everyday. The Worst Physical Sunscreen Award Goes To...
I want to share with you the worst physical sunscreens I've ever used. REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30 It's US$36 and has a thick and sticky texture, leaving a white cast on the skin. It can't spread evenly at all, no matter what skincare products I've applied beforehand. Supergoop! - Smooth & Poreless Mineral Sunscreen It's US$38 and has a silky texture that leaves skin greasy. It's difficult to wear makeup afterwards as it balls up and rubs off easily, so it's quite useless. CLINIQUE - Pep-Start Daily UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 50 It's US$19.50 before tax and I've three tubes of it at home. It has a runny consistency and creamy texture, naturally brightening skin complexion but not leaving a white cast on the skin. It's a little greasy when first applied on the skin, but this is the same with all physical sunscreens. It neither affects my follow-up makeup nor does it cause any skin problems. But I think the same series SPF 30 Sunscreen does nothing much. It's best to use it up as soon as possible after it's opened! PETER THOMAS ROTH - Max Mineral Naked Broad Spectrum SPF 45 Uva/Uvb Protective Lotion It's US$38 and it has a thick and heavy texture. The paste and oil separate after it's not used for a few days, so you end up just squeezing oil. Avoid this lotion if you dislike a greasy texture. If you're into physical sunscreen, give Murad - City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 / PA++++a go. It's literally the best physical sunscreen I've ever used.

shseido sunscreen is NOT for brown skin 😡😭
SHISEIDO - Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion SPF 50+ Sunscreen for Face/Body this product had so many reviews on sephora for being super liquidy and am easy to apply...so I had to try it! I’m always on the hunt for a good sunscreen with a high spf, and this seemed like a great find. but at $35/1 ounce, it was somewhat pricey 🥴🥴🥴 YOUD THINK THAT FOR $35/1 OZ....THE PRODUCT WOULD BLEND INTO MY SKIN! wrong. when i first applied it i noticed how white the product is, but i believed that with a little patting it would sink in. after five full minutes of pushing the product into my skin, I was still left with a horrendous white cast. I hated it. the product smells like alcohol, which I didn’t mind because I like the smell. the texture was amazingly liquidy so it spread nicely across my skin. pretty moisturizing too! but this white cast was unacceptable. this product cost wayy too much and made me look super ashy. i’m so mad!!! please recommend good sunscreens for my skin down below!
