Skincare Set for acne, pores, and sensitive skin

relpixela
Hi friends ✨ Today I want to highlight one of my favorite skincare sets lately! I purchased this 3 weeks ago and started using these products 2 weeks ago...but my skin transformation in that short time is making me write this review! Preface: I have super sensitive, rosacea acne prone skin. Tea tree has been a go-to ingredient to treat my irritation, redness, acne, and enlarged pores for so long. I know this ingredient works for me, but that doesn’t mean I use it every day or in large amounts. Listen to your skin, it’s all very personal! ❤️ Over the past few months I’ve been eyeing up quite a few products from Biossance! Previous to this set, I had tried their squalane + vitamin c rose oil, vegan lactic acid serum, and omega repairing moisturizer. Their squalane products work so well for me that I wanted to try more! I stumbled upon this set at Sephora. I wasn’t sure I wanted to get a kit of minis, but I figured getting a little kit would allow me to test their whole tea tree line before investing in full sizes and I am SO GLAD I did! The biggest thing for me that drew me into this set was that it contained squalane as a highlighted ingredient along with the tea tree oil, so it won’t dry out your skin as some people experience with tea tree products. This is the Tea Tree Set BIOSSANCE - The Tea Tree Trio
and it’s retails for $29 ($35 value—but they are mini size, so I don’t mind paying either amount!). It comes with three products which I will be highlighting separately below: Cleanser: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Cleansing Gel
5/5 Likes: I love that this cleanser has squalane in it to try and counteract the traditionally drying side effects of tea tree. It leaves me feeling squeaky clean without feeling stripped! I’m definitely repurchasing this when I run out of backup cleansers 😅 Dislikes: it lathers you quite a bit so if your skin type is on the drier side, this may not be the best option for you. Squalane oil blend: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Balancing Oil
5/5 Likes: It doesn’t have a tingly effect like other tea tree products do. It feels super lightweight and moisturizing. Doesn’t make my other products pill up! Lightweight enough for daytime use. Dislikes: None! I’m definitely repurchasing this when I run out. Detox mask: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Detox Mask
5/5 Likes: It’s such an innovative product! I have used this 3 times over the past 2 weeks and my pores look crazy clean. The texture is so interesting—it’s supposed to be clay-like, but it doesn’t dry down on your skin. It provides a mild tingle like tea tree traditionally does. You leave it on for 10 mins so as not to dry out your skin too much. It leaves me feeling refreshed and hasn’t caused any breakouts! I’m blown away!! The mini will last me a long time. Not sure I’ll repurchase though. Dislikes: None! Maybe keep it away from your sensitive eye area.

AM Routine to Hydrate + Reset Skin
Ive had more irritated skin that usual these days so I’ve been reaching for these products in the mornings to soothe my skin and give gentle hydration. They’re helping get my skin back on track. BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Cleansing Gel I got the mini tea tree set from Biossance and it has been a game changer on days when my skin is acting up. This gel cleanser gently foams, smells amazing, and really helps when I’m starting to get acne (usually just right before my period but more these days because of maskne!) Id love a travel size as I really only use this as needed a few times a month but if I were more acne prone it would be a staple Hanskin - Hyaluron Skin Essence I love this stuff! Probably not strictly necessary but the watery texture feels great and I find it helps other products, like my superfood serum sink in better BIOSSANCE - BIOSSANCE Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Hydrate + Firm Peptide Eye Cream I have a lot of eye cream in my stash right now so I’ve been going crazy and using the Biossance eye gel under something richer. I like that this lets me target circles and then also intense hydration! YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Firm and Brighten Vitamin C Serum this is a great all-around serum for hydration, firming, and brightness. It’s best when used on a wet face since the HA really sucks up a lot of moisture. This serum is super gentle so I like using it when I don’t want a very active routine and want to hydrate. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi this baby is a staple for me! I typically use it at night year round, but this month I’ve been reaching for it in the morning too since the winter weather has made me much drier. This is so hydrating but lightweight and really soothing on the skin! BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Balancing Oil like the tea tree cleanser, I only use this a few times a month as needed. It does an amazing job helping to clear out oncoming breakouts. It’s lightweight, sinks in fast, and I love the tea tree smell! I’d love a .3oz size of this since I do use it so infrequently this little sample has lasted me a few months so don’t think I could ever justify buying a full bottle Hope you enjoy my routine! Let me know if you want more info on any of these products 💚

My Favorite Face Oils
I always steered clear of moisturizer because I had very oily skin. I would have never even thought to no less put oil on my face but here I am every morning and night slathering my face with oil. Sometimes we can over produce oil because our skin is dehydrated and some people are just pre disposed to being oily. One product that has helped me get my oil under control in NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% and I also started adding retinol to my nighttime skin care routine. I don't feel like my face is dry very often but I did start to feel like it needed something more than my moisturizer. So I started adding oils to the last step of my routines and I loved the results. My skin looked so healthy and bright. Oils can do more than hydrate they have other benefits!!! NATURIUM - Vitamin C Face Oil I use this oil in the morning because I already use a lot of active ingredients in the morning but I still want the even skin tone and brightening effects. NATURIUM - Virgin Marula Face Oil 100% I use this oil at end of my baby facial routine and if my skin is starting to feel a little dry, it's the most hydrating of all the oils listed. Marula oil can also smooth skin, sooth redness and strengthen the skin barrier. NATURIUM - Plant Squalane Face Oil 100% I use this oil all the time!!! I have used this oil in place of the oils listed above. Morning, night after treatments you name it it's good for it. This is good for people who are oily, acne prone or who have combination skin because our bodies produce Squalene with a E, Squalane with an A is a refined version of Squalene because apparently it's very unstable product-poor shelf life. Squalane doesn't feel heavy in my skin just gives me that added hydration. It also helps to protect against environmental aggressors such as UV rays and pollution. BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Balancing Oil I love this product because it's a 2:1. Squalane with the added tea tree oil. I get the hydration and the acne fighter. Tea tree oil is knows to be an antibacterial so it helps fight skin imperfections. I typically use this at night. Last but not least Rose Hip seed oil, I bought this on off Amazon. What doesn't this oil do?? It brightens, firms, exfoliates, you can put it in your hair and even treats wrinkles. In my opinion its heavier than the Squalane oil but lighter than the Marula oil. This is my newest addition so I have been alternating this in the morning with the vitamin C oil. I have also bought a larger bottle and use it all over my body after the shower. I don't really like the smell but I typically shower at night so it fades by the morning. My skin definitely has a nice glow but I think I need some more time to see if it evens out my skin tone. What's your favorite face and body oils?!

Do you double cleanse?
When you start your journey in skin care there will be a lot of people who would warn you to not do too much and remain on the safe side by doing as little as possible, but trust me it isn’t a thing like doing too much when it comes to Double cleanse. I have oily skin and anyone with any skin type should try double cleanse. Just to improve their skin, here’s why The benefit of double cleansing is that the first cleanser will break down any makeup, remove dirt and excess oils from the day and clean your skin. The second cleanser will address your particular skin type or concern and should have ingredients to hydrate, smooth or exfoliate and treat acne.  I have recently added a new oil cleanser to my routine and I’m still not over how much I adore this, and honestly I have been on the double cleanse routine every single day. BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil An antioxidant-rich, cleansing oil that gently removes long-wear makeup and leaves skin with a beautiful, healthy look and feel Non oily Non greasy completely safe for oily acne prone skin. The lightweight oil lifts away makeup in a fraction of seconds and lifts up impurities, then rinses completely clean with water. Formulated with our sugarcane-derived, sustainable squalane oil, it helps keep skin hydrated and feeling fresh. (May sting if inside the eye) BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Cleansing Gel refreshing cleansing gel made with tea tree to deeply purify pores, absolutely addictive cleanser help balance skin and reduce excess surface oil. This cleansing gel removes makeup residue while leaving skin healthy-looking and visibly clearer. Absolutely a must try duo especially for oily irritated skin that’s prone to breakouts! 💚 I haven’t ever regretted buying Biossance because I’m amazed with how gorgeous Squalene has turned out my skin. Will keep repurchasing. @cherie

How many masks are too many...?
I used to love masking! I’d do at least 1 to 2 a week. Now I’ve gotten lazy and just don’t do them and I have so many I need to start using before they expire! For me, I feel having an exfoliating mask and a hydrating mask is all you need. Unless your using the product consistently you’re not going to see changes. Masks are great for plumping up the skin, adding hydration and even a soft glow. But of all the masks I’ve used I’ve never found long term effects from them (except exfoliating). One way I like to use them is right before a big night (or day) out. To give my skin that added boost. Some that are great for doing so are: FARMACY - Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask (use as a 10 min mask) SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask And many others that help brighten and hydrate! I will also not go without my exfoliating masks which I do once a week. Some faves are: PAULA'S CHOICE - 25% AHA + 2% BHA Exfoliant Peel YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial And a few others I have that I liked to use; BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Detox Mask ELEMIS - Superfood Vital Veggie Mask bliss - Mighty Marshmallow Mask Unfortunately as I said, I just don’t mask as often as I used to. And I feel it isn’t necessary. If you like to then I suggest you get yourself an exfoliating and moisturizing/hydrating mask and you should be good to go. Treatments are where you want to really zone in and specialize your finances for. Is it Friday yet? Ugh! I’ve been down all week with a neck I cannot turn - ouchie! And a migraine on top of that! I’m ready to knock my dogs out cause they are wanting out every half hour (it’s nice here ⛅️) Much ❤️ my skinnies 🍒

Take a peek inside my Skin Cabinets
Since my husband decided to use the guest bath I have claimed both cabinets....and all my products still don’t fit in them!! I’ll share my bathroom sink area in another post, along with my mini fridge and backup shelf. My fingers are tired from tagging all the products right now 🙈 Let me know if there are any you’re curious about. I believe most products you can find already reviewed on my page. But if there is one not posted about, let me know and I’d be happy to share my thoughts with you. Some of my must haves are: Farmacy Beauty- Honeymoon Glow, Better Daze Ahead & Cheer Up Indie Lee - CO-Q10 Toner and & Brightening Wash Medik8- Crystal Retinal & HYDR8 + B5 Caudalie - Radiance Serum Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Youth to The People - Superberry Mask, Energy Facial The Ordinary- Niacinamide & Hyaluronic & the Facial Peel Elemis - Suerfood Mask Many of these have been repurchases. If a product is sitting out on my counter or in my cabinets, I’m enjoying using them. I have baskets of products that didn’t work so well for me but I keep them for friends to try or to create fun texture art. It’s taken me at least an entire year to gain the collection I have. I had subscribed to many subscription boxes so a good majority of products came to me that way. I haven’t received PR in a long time and the few items I did receive were from some small companies. I don’t mind receiving PR/gifts I just am very picky about what I will use so sometimes the offers don’t jive with them. Let’s see your skincare cabinet ☺️ @CreateOnCherie @CheriePick

All You Need To Know About Layering!
All You Need To Know About Layering!
We all have multiple products that we want to apply to our faces to get the best end result possible. But I am here to tell you that your layering technique could be wrong! If you do not layer your products in the right way, your skin might not receive all the love and care it deserves. So, read on if you are looking to help your skin GLOW! My recent favorite for the layering technique has to be the BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Detox MaskBIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Cleansing GelBIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Balancing Oil. My oily skin absolutely loves the ingredients in these products and I can see how well these products work with the result. My skin is glowy, it is hydrated, and soothes my skin. I am a huge fan of tea tree oil and I love how these products smell so natural and earthy. I can also feel how clean the products are on my skin! I love to use this combination of products at night before I go to bed, but I believe these products also work amazingly for an AM routine as well, because they are so light on the skin. I start by using the Squalane + Tea Tree cleansing gel on the skin to remove any dirt and sweat resulting from the day. Once I pat my skin dry, I love to use this Squalane + Tea Tree detox mask. If you were like me a few years ago, you might be doing the mask before cleansing the skin. This is a BIG no-no because using a mask on dirty skin will prevent the nutrients in the mask from actually being absorbed, so you will not see the effect of the product! So always cleanse before applying a mask. I use this mask twice a week, but if I feel that my skin is becoming oilier than usual, especially now that it is summer, I use it three times a week. I love this product because of how smooth it makes my skin after! My pores are visibly smaller and the texture of my skin is overall AMAZING! And it doesn’t hurt that the mask smells so herb-y. After my mask, I absolutely love to use the Squalane + Tea Tree Balancing Oil. I was a little nervous about using this product because of my already oily skin, but I have to say this product is so light and airy. It doesn’t feel like it is clogging my pores and I actually love the formula for it! It leaves my skin so calm and works so well to remove my blemishes and acne scars. I would definitely rate it a 12 on 10!! I usually use a moisturizer on top of my facial oil to lock everything in! It is so important to layer your skincare routine starting from lightest to heaviest so that all the products sufficiently help the skin. So make sure to use oils before moisturizers, and cleansers before masks! And take it from me, you will absolutely LOVE these products!

Tatcha Faves
Tatcha Faves
Tatcha started off as a treat for me, one product here, another product there, but it has quickly grown to be a top shelf brand for me, and I’m on my way to a fill Tatcha routine! Its an expensive brand, yes, but I enjoy the luxurious textures and packaging, but more importantly, I truly believe in their innovative skincare ingredients, their concept on skin and found them to be very effective! Lets first talk about the Hadasei-3 concentrate thats inside each one of Tatchas products. Its a powderhouse of green tea, rice and red algae that are antiaging through the antioxidant content of green tea, smoothing, through the fermentation of the ingredients which results in lactic acid, and plumping with the hydrating benefits of these ingredients. This amazong compound is also found in 98.7% in The Eessence which has been a huuuge gamechanger for me. I attribute my smooth, plumped skin primarily to this product since I use every day. Another gamechanger for me was the Violet C radiance mask. How SOFT and SMOOTH and GLOWY my skin becomes after using this mask is unbelievable. Its so beautiful and luxurious. Ive also transitioned to daily gentle exfoliation with their enzyme cleanser. The enzymes are especially gentle for sensitive skin and all skin types in fact, that its more like a dead-skin-cell digesting cleanser. I love it, super hooked and will likely always have this in my life. I used the Dewy Skin Concentrate for the longest time as a night cream, and woke up with beautiful dewy, glowy skin every day. Sadly, it is now empty but I may repurchase at some point- its really pricey 😭

Old versus newbie cleansing oils!
Old versus newbie cleansing oils!
🎁The Boscia makeup breakup cool cleansing oil was the first one out of the two I bought and it helps clear the look of skin-clogging impurities and makeup without leaving an oily residue! It really helps with pores and dryness. The texture of this is a nice lightweight oil that gets all of my makeup off! I absolutely love using this at night and I got it about 10 months ago in a set from Boscia! It is very hydrating, didn’t break me out, and I saw good results in my pores after using it. I would certainly recommend this to others that love to use cleaning oils to remove makeup, it really gets the job done! It is worth the $32 for 5oz which is alot of product! 🎁The tatcha pure one step camellia oil cleanser is the one I got after the Boscia and is used to completely take of your makeup before you use your actual cleanser! This will completely take of any makeup, full face or just if your wearing a little bit. It completely takes off any eye liner and mascara as well as any waterproof makeup leaving your skin so silky and soft. This is not harsh at all on any type of skin, it is good for all skin types even sensitive skin! I first tried this last December because I had received the tatcha bestsellers set for Christmas with four minis and I absolutely feel in love with the cleansing oil. It can be a solution for dryness, fine lines and wrinkles, and dullness as well as uneven texture! The texture of this is a very rich oil that really moisturizes your skin. I overall really love this product and I will always be repurchasing, it’s definitely my go to makeup remover that I’ve ever tried! It has never let me down and always gets all my makeup off, and does everything that I would want a makeup remover to do. I have been using this for about a year so I have used this tons of times before giving this review! It was definitely hydrating enough and didn’t break me out at all! I saw great results from using this instead of other makeup removers that would make my skin red and were just to harsh when taking off my makeup. I would 100% recommend this to others because it completely takes off makeup and is so easy to use! And is great for every type of skin and has amazing ingredients in it! The full size of this is $48 for 5.1 oz of product which is so worth it because you only need a little bit to get all of your makeup off so it will last you forever! I really hope this review helps someone out if you’re deciding to get this or not I definitely recommend! 🎁I bought the tatcha cleansing oil over the Boscia because I noticed that this one did a better job of removing my makeup! And it removed more advanced makeup like eyeliner and foundation! The Boscia was only good for natural and not a lot of full face makeup! It only removed the basics, where the tatcha removed everything! I also noticed that it cleanses my face more intensely then the Boscia, it removed more dirt off my face! The texture of the Boscia and tatcha were very similar they were both very liquidity! The Boscia one was a little more thin, but the tatcha one felt like a heavier oil! The smell was very similar to, very clean and fresh! But I think I would have to say that the tatcha was more effective to my standards! boscia - MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil TATCHA - Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanser

DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample This facial cleanser was gifted to me by a friend who loves Drunk Elephant products. She swears by them, and I completely trust her opinion when it comes to skincare. I would love to have more Drunk Elephant on my skincare arsenal but they just come with a hefty price tag.   This cleanser is super gentle; one of the best cleansers I’ve used so far. I love facial washes that cleans my face but doesn’t leave it feeling tight and dehydrated. This clearly gets rid of all the underlying makeup residues that my makeup remover leaves, but even if it’s mad at dirt and grime, it doesn’t feel dry on my face. I thought that by its name, it will be jelly-like in consistency but this cleanser has a normal consistency.   ORIGINS - Drink Up-Intensive Overnight Mask to Quench Skin's Thirst After a good cleanse with my Drunk Elephant jelly cleanser, I like taking the bar up a notch but putting on a hydrating mask on my face.   I got this Origins in a set, and it was the first time I tried their products. This variant is specifically made to combat dryness and to bring back the skin’s moisture. I have a dry combination skin type so anything hydrating that unclogs my pores is heaven-sent for me. I love love love this mask! It leaves my skin glowing every time I use it. I leave it on overnight and I always wake up with super hydrated skin the morning after. I know it can be overwhelming as Origins have a lot of masks, but if you want to get one for yourself, this is the mask! I recommend it for those who have dry or dry combination skin. It really makes a difference when I use it.

Donts of Exfoliation
Donts of Exfoliation
Absolutely do not over-exfoliate! Over-exfoliation can disrupt the skin barrier function by just simply breaking down too many skin cells and disrupting the moisture content on the epidermis. Often times, especially people with oily skin and acne prone believe exfoliating is going to answer all their acne problems, and go on scrubbing 3+ times a week or using an exfoliating mask too often. This is actually counter intuitive for acne as if can actually make you break out more, and it can create sensitivities you dont need. How do you know you’re over exfoliating? If your skin lets you know. Yes, very confusing, but the reality is some people can actually tolerate more acids and scrubs than others, and the best way to figure out how much your skin can take is to incorporate little by little, one product at a time. If your skin is going red for prolonged periods of time, or tingling, even burning, for long or for the entire duration of having the product on (ie. With a mask) you’re probably overdoing it. Another way to prevent over exfoliation is just knowing when to stop. If your skin is happy and glowy and not breaking out, you may not need that new glycolic acid mask, adding an exfoliating mask to your regimen may just tip the scales into skin barrier disruption and dehydration! Be careful with exfoliation!

Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE-Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha
Waking up with yttp’s energy facial
Waking up with yttp’s energy facial
This two minute mask has been a game changer for me. Youth to the people released it this spring and it has been a favorite of mine from the very beginning. This mask contains both enzymatic exfoliation and physical exfoliation for a luxe at-home microdermabrasion experience that takes all of three minutes! Featured Ingredients: 🍍enzymatic exfoliants: papain (papaya) and bromelain (pineapple) 🎋physical exfoliants: bamboo and diatomaceous earth 🍵 caffeine: yerba mate and guayusa Instructions: -apply to clean, wet skin...the water on your face helps activate the enzymes -leave for 2 minutes...this gives the enzymes a chance to do their things and break down your dead skin cells cells -add water and gently massage...add even more water for gentler exfoliation. If you have sensitive skin, you can even skip this all together to focus more on the enzymatic exfoliation. Either way be gentle because this stuff is strong! -rinse! WHAT TO EXPECT: ✨the energy facial is very thick. It’s almost difficult to spread, but having a wet face helps and you really only need a thin layer for this to work it’s magic ✨I experience a slight tingling while the mask is on and my face really feels energized once it’s off. This sometimes causes the slightest bit of redness so I like to follow it up with the adaptogen mist for extra soothing. ✨smell is very fresh refreshing and gingery ✨this stuff is strong! You really don’t want to leave it on for more than 2 minutes and I don’t use any other exfoliating products for 24 hours before or after this mask. ✨Ive been using this mask once a week for a few months now and have noticed the my skin is smoother and pores are less clogged ✨at $54 for 2oz, this product isn’t cheap, but with my weekly use, I think it will last me most of a year and it’s so worth it! They also have a mini available in their “with pride” kit to benefit GLSEN if you want to try it out before committing to the whole jar (+support a great cause!) What’s your favorite exfoliating mask?!
