Ingredient highlight: Propylene Glycol
If you search the internet about propylene glycol you may not want to use any product that contains it. They talk about this is a carcinogenic and toxic ingredient, obviously nobody wants an ingredient with those characteristics on their skin. However it is a widely used ingredient that with a good structure turns out to be non-toxic and is used in medicine, cosmetics and food. Propylene Glycol is a odorless, colorless and insipid liquid that is soluble in water. It is produced synthetically by adding water to propylene oxide, derived from petroleum products. It is a moisturizing, solvent, emollient, and preservative ingredient that helps attract water and locks it into the skin, used in creams, lotions, serums, shampoos, and other skin care products. This ingredient helps the skin absorb moisture, as well as smoothing hair. Principal functions: 🧪 Attracts water: at low concentrations it acts as a humectant. Helps give skin a hydrated, moist appearance when used in cosmetics. 🧪 Lightly moisturizes: as a moisturizer it also hydrates and softens the skin without feeling sticky. 🧪 Safe for acne-prone skin: it is a non-greasy ingredient. 🧪 Prevents water loss: as an emollient, it creates a protective barrier that prevents water loss and softens the skin. 🧪 Enhances penetration: helps the active ingredients in cosmetics penetrate the skin better and be more effective. ☀️big ‘ol SOL de Janeiro haul
If you have read one of my past posts about Sol de Janeiro, you already know I’m a dedicated Bum Bum cream user. We’re celebrating our 5 year anniversary this Spring🧴👰🏻! We’re very happy together🧡 I do pray every night they will release a deodorant!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeaase 🌴After trying various samples of their other body care & hair care products, I finally just broke down & went deeper into the jungle of my obsession. 🇧🇷 SOL de Janeiro means January Sun in Portuguese. I’ve always loved that play on words (Rio de Janeiro) & sentiment. In Rio, January is the height of Summer sunshine. I have a January birthday, & growing up in Northern California, this was definitely not the case🌁 The warm, rich sweet nutty scent is so comforting to me year round. I’ll be writing in-depth reviews for everything here, but if you want to check out my full review, the ingredient breakdown & scent profile info on SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Bum Bum Cream it’s in a previous post😘 I was really excited to finally get my hands on a 🏄🏻♀️ SOL de Janeiro - Biggie Biggie Bum Bum Cream Almost 17 ounces of my favorite body cream with the adorable purple surfboard spatula💜 In that post I also reviewed SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist which I completely love, only wish it lasted longer... So, enter: SOL de Janeiro - Cheirosa ’62 Eau de Parfum SOL de Janeiro - Cheirosa '71 Body Mist Just wasn’t the scent for me... but I had to give it a shot. It’s intense for a body spray, certainly more staying power than their Brazilian Crush body spray. It smells like very sweet kettle corn 🌽? SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Touch Hand Sanitizer Spray A hand sanitizer that smells like bum bum? Yes please. Mind you, this is still hand sanitizer, but there’s a slight hint of that bum bum scent you love. My favorite hand sanitizer! A must with: SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Touch Hand Cream also reviewed in my previous post. I’m still trialing SOL de Janeiro - Bum Bum Body Scrub But it smells wonderful, very moisturizing, but could be a bit too rough for sensitive skin.... SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Shampoo my bf & agreed this was just ok, but we stan the conditioner hard: SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Conditioner this is the shit! Seriously my new favorite conditioner! Last but not least, SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel is a body wash I love to keep in my rotation. Smells like bum bum, so it’s a wonderful shower experience if you love their signature scent. ✨What are your favorite scented bath & body products? Or do you have a fav SOL de Janeiro product?

My exfoliator series!!
I loveeeee to exfoliate and address one of my biggest skin concerns, texture. I’m just starting my skin care journey and these three were my first pick ups. Turmeric and apple cider vinegar are some of my favorite ingredients in cooking and also hair care. Turmeric is a great anti inflammatory and antioxidant and is known as a brightened of the skin as well. Apple cider vinegar has been known to treat blood pressure and also scalp conditions so I thought it would be a great gentle exfoliate for my face. Let’s start with the turmeric exfoliating mask. This mixed physical exfoliation with chemical. It has rosehip seeds and quartz which you can physically work in after leaving the mask on for awhile. The Bha comes from aspen bark and papaya. My skin does feel slightly softer after using this but not enough to pay 48 again. The brightening effect is minute as well. Now the Apple cider vinegar pads come in a box for 72(ridiculous) and a smaller sample box for 12. Thank god I got the sample because this did nothing for me. Maybe the acid is too gentle but I was extremely disappointed. Guess I will continue to ingest it via the gummies to get the benefits Finally, we have wishful yo glow which I will repurchase. It uses aha and bhas only and really smooths out my skin. It is reasonably priced at 39 and is available as a mini for 21. My downside is that it is heavily fragranced and it took time for me to cope with that. The product balls up and it isn’t dead skin alone but I believe the cellulose in the product clings to dead skin cells which I clearly see as the product which is white will turn grayish brown as I work it into my skin. Did I rant or what lol, I will continue my hunt for the perfect exfoliators for my collection and update u guys as I try them
Get rid of dry patches instantly -Peeling gels
Do you get large or small dry flakey patches because of either colder weather or retinoids or acne treatments? I do get these dry flakey patches all the time with my retinoid use and sometimes when the air gets dry around me. But that isn't the main concern for me, these dry patches come in my way of getting a good flawless foundation routine. When I have an event or meeting to attend and if I have these dry patches it's hard for me to moisturize them and keep them moisturized and look good under my makeup. There was only one solution to such dry fkakey skin, that is Exfoliation!! I figured the quick exfoliating masks and solutions (chemical exfoliation) work but they did not get rid of those dry patches completely. So I tried these peeling gels before my morning shower and vola!! They instantly removed my dry patches and made my skin super soft and smooth for a flawless makeup application!! 😍❤️ I love using these both, @wishful Yo Glow enzyme scrub HUDA BEAUTY - Yo Glow Facial Enzyme Scrub @saturdayskin Rub-A-Dub Refining peel gel SATURDAY SKIN - Rub-A-Dub Refining Peel Gel ✨ These both are refining physical exfoliators that work by creating white balled up action and pills when you rub it gently on your skin. They generally have chemical exfoliants as well like Papaya and pineapple enzymes as well as physical exfoliators. The lightweight, milky texture gently buffs away dead skin cells and impurities for immediate results that also makes the perfect canvas for seamless makeup application. You start off with a watery gel like this, which you spread over your face then you see the product balling up on your face creating this weird peeled skin texture. ✨But have you Wondered what is it exactly?? Is it your skin falling off or peeling that way? Is it just the product that's balling up and not exfoliate skin well? or is it just a gimmick?? The Answer is: peeling gels are actually a very gentle physical scrub – the scrubbing bits are the soft, bunched up fibres, which are usually made of bunched up acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer* (sometimes listed as “carbomer” in the ingredients list). Some gels also contain a lot of cellulose, which adds to the bunching effect (this is usually in the opaque ones) ☑️😍Conclusion: Peeling gels aren’t chemical exfoliants – they’re gentle physical exfoliants (scrubs). The fibres form from ingredients that are in the gel to begin with, balling up from the rubbing motion with some help from oils on your skin. There will be a small amount of dead skin in there too. I am a fan of Peeling gels, they definitely help me a lot with instant exfoliation without being crazy abrasive on my skin. This is the evidence I like physical exfoliants as much as I love chemical ones. 😊❤️ Have you used Peeling gels? Do you like them? Share your thoughts ❤️
Drunk Concoction 🐘❤️
One of the many things I love about skincare is how customized it is. We all have different skin types, and with that, our skin has different needs. I’m a firm believer in listening to your skin - I don’t follow a strict day to day skincare regime. If my skin is dry, I’ll go with something more hydrating. If my skin has a lot of texture, I’ll exfoliate. Get what I’m saying? And something that I love about Drunk Elephant is how biocompatible and multi purpose their products are. Did you know that their new Happi Scalp scrub is perfectly safe and recommended for the face as well?! When I learned that, I had to try it out for myself and my skin loved it! Which is why I had to share with you all my new drunk concoction - and I don’t mean your typical alcoholic mixer either. I present to you: TLC Happi Scalp + Pekee Bar! My friend Sophie has been sharing a lot of unique combinations on her page, and it inspired me subconsciously. I was washing my face with Pekee but I could feel some dead skin build up from my wax burn, so I was thinking to myself, “Man, I wish I had my JuJu bar for a bit of exfoliation”, when in the corner of my semi-closed eye, I spotted my Happi Scalp in the shower. So I added a bit of Happi Scalp into my palm, rubbed it in with my Pekee, and wah-laa- my own gentle physical + chemical exfoliator cleanser! 💦🐘 Let me know down below if you’ll be trying this for yourself, or what unique combo you’ve been loving lately! 💗🐘 DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. You know my vanity table never actually looks this neat and pink right? Trying to colour coordinate takes forever in reality! And don’t get me started on the time it takes to put it all away! . Anyway I mentioned the other day I’ve been trying out some really lovely things recently. Soft Clay Rubber by Lixirskin ~ This is a white clay mask that contains the essential oils bergamot and mint. Don’t be fooled by the cute pink packaging and reasonable pricing, this brand is top quality! This mask leaves my pores feeling tighter, my skin super clean without dryness at all! 👌🏻 Eau de lait by Collosol This is a water milk make up remover that you use with a cotton pad. I’m huge on double cleansing with a balm BUT since microblading my brows I’ve not been able to wash my face properly. The Eau de Lait has been a life-saver! It’s such a gorgeous product, doesn’t dry out the skin and removes make up effectively! I have also been adding this to my bath as a bath milk which is beautiful! Thanks for the tip rhiannon alyxandra !😘 . make the make have just released some make up items and I am obsessed! MakeTheMake are a hybrid make up and skincare brand. Each make up item contains skin-loving ingredients whether it’s vitamin c or niacinamide and the quality is incredible. Pretty innovative right!? Another life saver post-microblading has been my Perk Up Dry Shampoo by Amika. Not being able to wash my hair has been hard but lucky I have this! Hands down best dry shampoo I’ve ever used. Smells gorgeous, no white residue and no build up. Can we make it to day 8? I think Amika can! 💪🏻

Im down to the last few uses of my Briogeo hair mask and I still stand by the fact that this is one of the best hair masks out there. It's the first hair mask that truly changed my conception of haircare and I compare all hair masks to this one - it's the gold standard. Speaking of gold standards, a cleanser that truly has changed my cleansing game is Green Clean by Farmacy beauty but one cleanser that did come up to par with it is the Banilaco Clean It Zero. I can easily use both to remove my eye makeup without any irritations. Ok now going to go eat chinese food in bed to fully enjoy my pamper day before going back to work tmr. 🥟🥟
BEST PRODUCTS FOR VERY DRY SKIN💦 all drugstore!
It has taken almost 10 years, but we made it. I have found THE BEST products for my dry sensitive skin. First let’s start with my face moisturizer. The BEST moisturizer I found for very dry skin is BIODERMA - Atoderm Intensive Baume It is so thick but gets absorbed beautifully into the skin. It has ZERO fragrance (🙏my sensitive rosacea skin thanks you), soothes, repairs and moisturizes. Immediately after using it for the first time, my face felt so smooth and hydrated. And the next morning I woke up with a glow and visibly moisturized skin. Sometimes I can get itchy on my face due to the dryness and I find myself applying hydrocortisone (so bad, I know), but ever since using this, I have not reached for it once. I also put this around my eyes, as it’s gentle enough as an eye cream. 10/10 The BEST body oil This is shocking. I found this on a whim while I was repurchasing my face moisturizer and it changed MY LIFE. I have dealt with keratosis pilaris on my upper arms my entire life. It’s those tiny rough bumps that just DO NOT go away. But that all changed when I used BIODERMA - Atoderm Shower Oil This stuff is seriously impressive. I typically HATE putting on lotion after I shower, and avoid it as much as possible. But this stuff is great. It worked the first time I used it. My arms are so smooth. It’s not 100% gone, but it’s such a big improvement. And because it’s a shower oil, it’s so easy to use and lasts a long time. I apply it when I have my conditioner in, let it sit for a few minutes and rinse it off. I get out and my skin feels like I applied lotion. It’s fantastic. Again, like the baume, it actively works to repair your skin. I think I’m going to be buying this entire range 🤣 also, the bottles are in French and it makes me feel fancy. Lastly, because I’m dry I obviously deal with dandruff. It’s annoying, it’s embarrassing and it’s so frustrating. I have tried EVERYTHING to hydrate my scalp. I’ve done treatments, I’ve removed all Sulphates, I’ve done scalp exfoliations. It doesn’t work. Until I tried THE BODY SHOP - Ginger Scalp Care Shampoo This actually helps. It’s the most relief I’ve gotten from a shampoo, ever. It does take a while to work but around the 3rd week, I noticed my dandruff was not as visible. Now, when I wash, the dandruff is not there. It’s pretty incredible. However it does come back when I wait too long to wash my hair again (as I get itchy-and as seen in my previous post) Apparently ginger is known to work well for haircare and has been used for centuries to stimulate the scalp, restoring moisture and strengthening the follicle. I will never stop being on the hunt for new products, so if you have any recommendations please let me know!!!

Some friends that multitask in the shower ✨ 💧 glowhill beauty Pure Peel Hydrating Cream- I’m trying this thing where I apply masks about 15 minutes before showering, then do an in-shower face mask. I love it! Unscientifically speaking, something about the warm water and steam really refreshes masks that have texture or a thicker consistency. Glowhill’s cream mask has niacinamide, grape extract, apple extract, and other fruits that contain AHA-like enzymes for brightening. 💧 uberliss Hydrating Conditione - Green tea, lemon peel, keratin. The scent is a bit strong for me, but this conditioner gives me the results of a hair mask: smooth hair with high shine. I’m too lazy to use hair masks with any sort of regularity, so I prefer to rely on a strong conditioner. 💧 billie Sudsy Body Wash- Shea butter, grapefruit, aloe vera. I love how foamy this is; Billie claims that this is also creamy enough for shaving. I actually haven’t tried the Billie razors yet because it’s so cold right now that no one needs to see my legs.
