Is Hemp Oil The Secret To A Heavenly Glow?🤔🤔
Sometimes I’m convinced nature knows best. I’ve been glad to see more and more skincare brands returning to the timeless trustworthiness of nature and botanicals to create premium products that are super effective. Something I’ve been reading a lot about recently is hemp oil. The skincare industry is packed at the moment with retinols, tocopherols, glycerols, and myriad other ‘ols’ that sound like they’ve been cooked up in a lab. ‘Ols’ make me think of smoking vials and bubbling beakers. ‘Oils’ on the other hand… that one little letter makes a big difference. The reason I started looking into hemp oils is because I’ve been hunting for an oil that’s light enough to use morning and night. My skin is relatively ‘normal’ in type, if a little sensitive, but I like to moisturise a lot to keep it young and feeling fresh. Because I don’t have oily skin, I can indulge in oil-based moisturisers. I decided to try HERBIVORE - Emerald Hemp Seed Deep Moisture Glow Oil. Once you’ve got past the exhaustingly long title, this product is actually pretty simple - and all natural. I opted for this hemp product in particular for one reason: the ingredients list. I’ve never seen a list that’s so recognisable - so many natural names, so few unpronounceable chemicals. It’s packed to the rafters with plant extracts: sunflower, eggplant, jojoba, basil, and turmeric to name a few. But I was interested in the hero of the story, hemp oil. For some people, hemp = hippie. Woven hemp bags, rustic hemp cloth, and of course, cannabis. But hemp comes from a non-intoxicating strain of the cannabis plant that’s more commonly used for things like rope, paper, clothing, and health and body care. The power of the plant has been known for centuries, but modern dermatologists have found that it delivers a burst of moisture and antioxidants to skin, as well as providing anti-inflammatory properties, and (allegedly) antibacterial powers. This is why hemp oil has been used in holistic acne treatment - it can clear blemishes, soothe irritation, and even treat scarring. Last but not least, hemp seed oil (it’s true name, often shortened to just hemp oil) is basically a moisture elixir. After using it twice a day for a month, my skin hasn’t felt dry once, it feels softer, and it shines. Herbivore’s Glow Oil is everything free: SLS free, paraben free, sulfate free, gluten free, and vegan. If you’re ready to jump on the hype of hemp, you’re in for a treat.
Favorite glow oil!
I can’t live without this Emerald oil! It’s a hemp seed + adaptogens deep moisture glow oil and it has made my skin look so amazing under makeup! I mostly use it as part of my skincare routine but when I want that extra glow, I use it under makeup as well. It’s made with clean ingredients and has no parabens or additives. I have extremely sensitive and dry skin and I know I can always count on the Emerald oil to moisturize my skin from within and give me a natural glow!HERBIVORE - Emerald Hemp Seed Deep Moisture Glow Oil
INSTANT GLOW 💫
Dullness is one of my main skin concerns, specially during these times that I’m not getting the best sleep and indulging in way too many snacks 😛 When Glossier came out with Glossier. - Futuredew I knew I had to cop immediately. This oil serum hybrid adds so much dewiness to the skin and looks beautiful with makeup and on bare skin. I love to use it on days when I’m not wearing makeup, so literally every day lately. They suggest using it as the last step in your routine even after sunscreen but sunscreen should always be the last step to your routine, and it doesn’t mess with the finish in my opinion. The texture reminds me of the VDL Fresh lumilayer primer which I love so naturally, I adore this. The ingredient list includes grape seed oil and rosehip seed oil which are amazing to get that glowy skin! I have combination skin and this doesn’t break me out or make me look oily just dewy and super fresh!
Glossier’s Futuredew is makeup, NOT skincare.
I don’t know what compelled me to purchase this other than the glassy packaging and abundance of makeup gurus raving about this product online. I’ve given it so many chances- both as skincare, as primer under makeup, and highlighter over makeup. Here are my thoughts: Glossier. - Futuredew Impressions: Other than its packaging, I have very few good things to say about this product. Even for a dry skin gal like me, 0.5 to 2 pumps of this stuff left me feeling like a greasy mess. There are so many different types of oils in one tiny bottle that if I broke out, it would be impossible to figure out the culprit. The formula looks tinted (mica, iron oxides) but applies on the skin sheer. The reason I say this product is not skincare is that the hodgepodge of potentially comedogenic ingredients wouldn’t solve any skin problems. The functionality of futuredew is to leave a superficial dewy “glow” which to me sounds suspiciously like makeup. I will say that as a primer/serum highlighter, futuredew’s “glow” lasts many hours but at the cost of my face feeling sticky and unwashed all day long. I much rather use a light but pigmented highlighter if I’m trying to achieve such a look. Price: $24 for 1 Oz. You know my thoughts already- I won’t be repurchasing even if it was 1/4 of the price! Alternatives: If you are looking for a face oil, here are some alternatives that actually provide long term benefits to the skin! My skincare routine for glowing skin ✨
Skin type: combinations, acne-prone. Skin concern: dull skin. Following a beauty routine has its benefits, keeping the skin clean and hydrated makes the skin always look healthy. To minimize the appearance of pores, prevent wrinkles and decrease fine lines I use VIVIER - Retinol 1% Night Complex its main ingredients are 1% pure retinol, vitamin C, vitamin E and shea butter. It’s well known that retinol promotes cell renewal and increases collagen production, making the skin appear firmer and healthier. To keep dark spots out, I use VIVIER - Serum 10 , it contains 100% pure L-ascorbic acid, one of the best formulations on the market due to its stability. Helps reduce signs of environmental damage (fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin texture and tone). It’s an excellent ingredient to add to your beauty routine. I try to exfoliate my face 1-2 times a week with ACURE - Brightening Facial Scrub its main ingredients are sea kelp and french green clay, after using it my my face feels clean and fresh OR HUDA BEAUTY - Yo Glow Facial Enzyme Scrub a gentle exfoliating scrub, its main ingredients are papaya and pineapple enzymes, BHAs and AHAs. It’s really a gentle exfoliant, it doesn't irritate and leaves my skin clean, smooth and full of glow. Added an ideal toner to brighten dull skin tone like GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Toner , helps control excess oil, purifies deep inside pores, calms redness and fades dark spots. Its main ingredients are kakadu plum (source of vitamin C), aloe, witch hazel, watercress and elderflower. I have been using this toner for 20 days and I love the results, eliminate redness and reduce dark spots, my skin looks cleaner, brighter and healthier. In the morning, I applied GLOW RECIPE - Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream , a lightweight moisturizer that hydrates and calms the skin. It’s ideal for combination skin, leaves my skin feeling hydrated and glowy without leaving it greasy and smells delicious. Masks are an excellent treatment to help with your skincare concerns. I have millions of masks, I use one that I feel is best for me at the moment. ▪️If my skin needs hydration - SUMMER FRIDAYS - R + R Mask ▪️If I need something stronger - The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ▪️If my skin feels dry or dull - SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask ▪️If I need to control excess oil -NEOGENLAB - Canadian Clay Pore Cleanser Sunscreen is the most important part of any beauty routine, since it prevents damage caused by UVB / UVA rays. One of my favorites is Supergoop! - Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 , it leaves a subtle glow that makes you not look tired, in addition to leaving the skin very soft and hydrated. Gentle reminder: don't forget to drink water, staying hydrated is very important for healthy looking skin, sleeping well is also important as it helps the normal renewal and exfoliation of the skin.
Battle of the sunscreens 🥊
Skin type: combination, acne-prone. Skin concern: avoid sun damage. As I said in another review, I love samples/minis because they give me a chance to try a product before buying the full size. Sunscreens are somewhat complicated. We should look for sunscreens with broad spectrum coverage (UVB/UVA) and an SPF of 30 or higher and always reapply it every 2 hours. You should also be aware of the ingredients that help to deal with specific concerns (acne, fine lines...). This can be tricky, if you are prone to breakouts or have sensitive skin. So you should try sunscreens until you find the best for you Supergoop! - Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 Key ingredients: avobenzone 3%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 10%. Texture: liquid. Scent: unscented. Price: $36 for 1.7 oz. Claims: a makeup gripping primer that leaves a dewy, glowy finish, with sun protection and hydration in the mix. Thoughts: I really like the healthy glow it gives, it is not greasy and the skin feels very soft. It’s ideal for when you don’t want to put makeup. This is definitely my favorite and I would buy the full size. Supergoop! - Smooth & Poreless Mineral Sunscreen Key ingredients: titanium dioxide 0.7%, zinc oxide 17%. Texture: lightweight lotion. Scent: unscented. Price: $38 for 1.5 oz. Claims: 100% mineral sunscreen (reef safe) that helps leave skin looking mattified and poreless. Thoughts: Is non greasy, leaves skin soft and matte without drying it, it goes on smooth as silk. Very lightweight with a touch of color. Dr. Loretta - Urban Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 40 Key ingredients: homosalate 8%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 5%, zinc oxide 8%, Lipochroman®. Texture: cream. Scent: sunscreen 🤷🏻♀️🤔 Price: $50 for 1.7 oz. Claims: Protects the skin from external factors responsible for more than 85% of skin aging (pollution, light, climate and irritants). Contains Lipochroman® that provides antioxidant protection. Thoughts: I like to use it when I am at home or when I take classes online since it protects from the Blue Light emitted by electronic devices. It doesn't leave a white cast behind and leaves a lovely glow. Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Key ingredients: avobenzone 3%, homosalate 8%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 4%. Texture: silky. Scent: unscented. Price: $34 for 1.7 oz. Claims: A totally invisible, weightless, scentless sunscreen that leaves a velvety finish. They change the formula and now is reef-safe (octinoxate free). Thoughts: Leaves skin soft, without feeling greasy, blur pores and doesn’t leave white cast. I really like the silky feeling it leaves. VOLITION - Prismatic Luminizing Shield SPF 50 Key ingredients: Titanium dioxide 3.5%, zinc oxide 19.6%, octinoxate 7.5%. Texture: liquid. Scent: unscented. Price: $35 for 1 oz. Claims: a lightweight, fluid sunscreen that provides broad spectrum SPF and perfects skin with a flawless soft luminescence. The anti-sunscreen for the sunscreen haters. It’s never greasy, smelly or thick. It’s daily protection you'll actually want to wear. Thoughts: I love that it leaves me subtle glow, it doesn't leave white cast and doesn't feel sticky.
Been obsessed with dewy, flawless, natural skin lately! It must be the summer warmth that makes me love being bronzed and glowy! Here are some amazing products I have been loving lately! PATRICK TA - Major Glow Shes Extra Duo This body oils is so gorgeous, even just owning the bottle feels like a luxury! I’m obsessed with this color and it makes you look like a beach goddess! I love applying this when I’m pale and tan, the only thing is it doesn’t completely dry down so you have to be careful about transfer but it is gorgeous nonetheless! SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask I was skeptical about buying this mask, I had heard so much buzz around it that I finally took the leap! It made my skin look so plump, and feel so soft. I know with continued use I’ll have baby soft skin! This is the perfect mask to use after a long week, or just on a self care night! I’m obsessed! Kosas - REVEALER SUPER CREAMY + BRIGHTENING Concealer Honestly, I didn’t wanna love this concealer because the shade range is basically non existent. But after running out of my current concealer I decided to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised with how much coverage I got and how easy it is to blend and worth with! I’m definitely a fan and it’s much cheaper than my regular concealers so that’s a plus as well! beautyblender - Sunkissed Blend & Cleanse Trio I will forever love my beauty blender! And I just had to have this yellow one. It’s literally so cute and the color makes me so happy! My husband actually bought this for me because every time I saw it I dawned over how adorable I thought it was! So thanks hubby!
SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask So I originally purchased this product due to its huge rage.. I must say... the rage is real and it is a phenomenal product. I have super dry skin and this mask definitely helped with my dryness and added moisture and hydration. It is important to mention that I do not use this product as a mask. Rather, I apply it as a moisturizer during the nighttime and leave it on for the night. As my skin absorbs the moisture the best during the PM, my skin feels rich and glowy in the morning. ———————————— Results The summer Friday’s mask has somewhat of a thick consistency that feels great during the winter. I love love love this product for the winter as my skin feels dry as ever during the winter and the moisture is much needed. In addition, the product also has a bit of fragrance to it. This usually irritates my skin, however the fragrance is so minimal that it did not negatively affect my skin at all (but it is something to consider before purchasing). ———————————— Recommend 90% As a result, I would recommend this product to everyone for the winter season. It brings lots of moisture and hydration. I would not recommend this product to people with oily skin as it is very thick. Also, I think its best use is as a moisturizer rather than a mask because I feel like it’s more effective that way. The only downfall to this product I must mention would be the price point. I would say it remains on the pricey end of the scale due to how much product you actually get in one tube.
dr. Brandt Luminizer Primer
I am absolutely in love with this primer! I received this product in my winter fabfitfun box. It makes the skin so bright and glowy as soon as you put it on. My pores are completely filled and my foundation goes on flawlessly over this primer. This is great for sensitive skin and acne prone skin. I have been using this for about a month now and could see myself repurchasing! dr. brandt - Pores No More Luminizer Primer
I’m finally here to admit my @drbrandt obsession. Some of my favourite products when it comes to skin care and beauty pore perfecting exfoliator: uses both physical and chemical exfoliates to target impurities and cleanse the skin. It targets pores, fullness and uneven texture. This is what I use when I know my skin needs some serious work. You never want to over do it, but this product is amazing dr. brandt - PoreDermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator Pores no more luminizer primmer: I apply this before applying makeup and on areas that I really want to highlight. It’s great if you want to apply this with or without makeup it gives your skin a really nice glow. It says that it refines the look of pores, but I don’t really see a crazy difference. I mostly use this when I want a really nice glow dr. brandt - Pores No More Luminizer Primer vacuum cleanser pore perfecting mask: this mask is able to unclog pores, and leave your skin feeling refreshed and clean. With Salicylic acid and glycolic acid it helps to exfoliate the skin dr. brandt - Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner Pore Purifying Mask Happy Friday🌿🧡
Drunk Elephant Line Rapid Review: Part 1
Brief peeks into my latest opinions of various Drunk Elephant products: • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser is a deep-cleaning gel cleanser that is strong enough to take off sweat and sunscreen, but I find it needs a primary cleanse if I’m wearing makeup. Can be bit harsh if I’m having an eczema flare-up but is otherwise gentle and good for most skin. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser is a super gentle balm cleanser that I love to leave on as a moisturizing mask before I use it to wash off my makeup. Doesn’t irritate my eyes and is perfect for sensitive skin. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum is a potent vitamin c serum that lightens hyperpigmentation very well within months of use. However, it is too potent for my skin, so I dilute it heavily if I use it. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum makes skin so soft and smooth! It helps bumpy texture wonderfully. Again, super potent- I have to be sure to use a small amount dilute in a serum and applied over top of my moisturizer. Improves skin texture very fast. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides is and always will be a favourite. Creamy yet fluffy. Rich and quenching. Perfect for sensitive skin. Never leaves me shiny! • DRUNK ELEPHANT - F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask is another favourite- it’s perfect for dehydrated, dry, or sensitive skin. I always use it after an acid product to prevent inflammation and sensitivity. A surprising texture, due to the beads of fatty acids, and it soaks in quickly. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial 25% AHA + 2% BHA Mask is so, so, so potent! It’s amazing. A single use leaves my skin baby soft and glowing. However, the potency that gives instant results makes it so strong that I can only use it every other week. But I’ll keep doing so because it’s so wonderful feeling my smooth, soft skin afterwards. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Antioxidant Face Oil is the best oil I’ve ever tried in terms of super fast absorption and lack of shine. It leaves me dewy, not greasy, and a couple drops is the perfect boost to my moisturizers. It is a bit pricy though considering I only use it in the PM unless it’s winter, making the quick absorption only important for 3 months of the year. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 No white cast, no tingling, no congestion. Buuut I am a little shiny if I use this in the summer, so this is my preferred winter sunscreen and would be perfect for dry-skinned folks.

Why vitamin C is my main bish 🍊
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals, it helps regenerate skin cells and it’s a staple in every skincare routine. I was actually introduced to this magic ingredient by my husband! Who got into skincare before I did lol, after I started doing my own research I realized I needed all the vitamin C products. It’s safe for most skin types and plays well with other actives like AHA’s. My favorite vitamin C products include: The VERSED - STROKE OF BRILLIANCE Brightening Serum that I’ve talked about before, I love it because not only is it effective but it’s also easily accessible as it is sold in Target! The bliss - Bright Idea Vitamin C + Tri-Peptide Collagen Protecting & Brightening Moisturizer another lovely product that is easily accessible and affordable for what it is. This beautiful moisturizer feels super creamy but absorbs well and has a faint citric scent. It plumps my skin so nicely when I use it in conjunction with my hyaluronic acid essence. The SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil I love this oil. I just love facial oils so much. This one is a favorite but kinda pricey, but that’s the only downside imo. The ohii - Before + After Vitamin C Mask is AMAZING. It works so quick and brightens my skin almost immediately. It has a honey-like texture and warms up once it’s on, it’s my uncomfortable at all it just feels lovely. Highly recommend. I can’t recommend vitamin C enough, it helps fade any hyperpigmentation I might be experiencing, it’s brightening, it evens out my skin tone. It’s just amazing and you need to get on it!

Empties Part Deux
🍡 Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil: Will and have repurchased. This is a lovely lightweight oil that sinks into the skin almost immediately and leaves my skin soft and glowy all day. The texture on this one is just an absolute 10/10. 🍡 Farmacy Honey Grail Ultra Hydrating Face Oil: I can’t say how sad I am that this is empty. I am currently on a no but but I plan to repurchase this one in the future. This is a rich, antioxidant packed facial oil that leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft. It goes on a little sticky (it does contain honey) but sinks in very quickly and leaves my skin feeling unbelievably soft. I love this one especially if my skin is having any irritation, redness, acne, or any kind of freak out. It calms my skin right down and gives me a beautiful glow. 🍡 Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun: A chemical SPF 50 PA ++++ sunscreen containing skin soothing ingredients such as centella asciatica, hyaluronic acid, and tocopherol. This sunscreen is vegan, cruelty free, and free of oxybenzone, parabens, artificial fragrance, PEGs, propylene glycol, and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (wow that’s a word). So if you’re sensitive to a lot of sunscreens this might be a good one for you to try. However if you are sensitive to essential oils definitely opt for the unscented one because this one has a very potent lavender scent. That being said I was not irritated at all by the scent and found this to be a lovely, lightweight sunscreen. Would purchase again but I’m a bit of a connoisseur with sunscreens so I rarely repeat them. 🍡 Kate Somerville Kx Active Concentrates Ceramides + Omega Serum: a lovely lightweight barrier replenishing and skin soothing serum. This made my skin very very soft and helped minimize my redness. An amazing serum for winter or for any skin in distress. I do not know if I would repurchase at this time mostly because of the price but I have gone through two bottles and I really love this serum. (Continues in comments) 🍡 CosRx Honey Ceramide Full Moisture Cream: This is an amazing dupe for the Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream. The CosRx is a little more lightweight than the Dr Jart but it had the exact same effects on my skin. This left my skin feeling incredibly soft in the morning and really minimized any irritation or redness I had. 🍡 Tarte Cosmetics Knockout Tingling Treatment: I love this stuff. This is a 10% lactic and salicylic blend and it knocks out any texture, congestion, or dullness without irritating my skin. And this bottle lasted me about a year.
Worth The Hype??
I’ve been using Tony Moly face masks for quite some time, so I’ve decided to take a chance on some of the rest of their products! ▶️ Panda’s Dream White Sleeping Mask TONYMOLY - Panda's Dream White Sleeping Pack First of all the packaging for this is absolutely adorable, and I would be lying if i said it wasn’t one of the things that made me want to buy it in the first place. This is basically what you would expect from a low priced night cream. It’s nice and hydrating, but I wouldn’t say it really helped transform my skin. I think this would be good for someone who maybe is just getting in to night creams and is curious about how they work, but if you’re looking for something to really help with skin care concerns I would say to maybe skip out on this one. ▶️ VitalVita12 Calming Ampoule I first bought this when I was curious about serums and wanted to really up my skin care game. I actually bought this when I was experiencing a very mild breakout, and noticed immediate results the day after. My breakout was almost completely gone and my skin looked a little brighter, which is awesome! The only thing I’ve noticed is that it didn’t really do anything to help correct or treat any redness I had left on my face. I would highly recommend this to anyone with more acne prone skin looking to immediately treat a breakout. TONYMOLY - Vital Vita 12 Ampoule Calming

Sunday Riley As a skincare brand
Meh skincare brand A very popular skincare brand is Sunday Riley, which I’m sure you all know. Unfortunately in my opinion Sunday Riley is one of those brands that I think is a bit over hyped, over priced and underwhelming. All of the products I’ve tried ( which to be fair has only been a few) I was left disappointed. Another disappointment was that fake review scandal they had a few years back. It always left me with a less favorable feeling about the brand. SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment This AHA treatment is priced very high at $122 for 1.7 ml. My skin is used to acids and I’ve used some strong ones but for some reason every time I used this it irritated my skin so much. Lots of burning, and it made my eyes burn and water even if I didn’t get it close to my eye. This is the only acid that has had my skin react this way. I heard they reformulated this products as well and have read that many people are unhappy with the new formula as well. Another product I was underwhelmed with is SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil I used this oil about a year back. I don’t have a strong opinion on it but I was left feeling meh. I don’t care for my vitamin c serum to be an oil. I use vitamin c in the morning and the oil takes too long to absorb into the skin. Second I wasn’t a fan of the turmeric smell to it either, making it a bit unpleasant to apply and I would find myself dreading this step in my routine because of it. Overall I finished the bottle and promptly forgot about it and never was tempted to repurchase from this brand since.
