Beauty hacks for night owls 🦉

Herbivore Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil
HERBIVORE - Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil I have been dying to try this oil and I finally got the chance and ordered a bunch of free sample packets from when I ordered my gua sha off of Herbivore’s website. This oil is pretty good, I definitely felt like it helped with moisture but I can’t tell after a couple uses from the packet if it does anything for fine lines and wrinkles. I think $48 is a lot for this product though, especially for just 1oz of product. I think there are better oils out there for a better price but I’m glad I got to try it out!
My First Cherie Convo Post! 🏷 Skin Positivity
Let’s talk about perspective. I am not a psychologist, but I did have some training in nursing school, and there are two concepts that I want to talk about when it comes to skin. 1. Body Dysmorphia: Most people associate this diagnosis with eating disorders, the classic image of a thin girl seeing herself as fat in a mirror. This is a common form of body dysmorphia but not the only type, and I would like to bet the other types are actually more common! Body dysmorphia can be a fixation on real or perceived body flaws that your mind blows out of proportion. This could be for instance, thinking your nose is the size of a duck beak when in reality it is small for an Italian, OR thinking one tiny pimple is the size of your entire face! You see what I’m getting at here? We all fixate on weird little things that we think are huge but no one else notices. 2. Cognitive Distortions: Similarly, cognitive distortions are your brain blowing things out of proportion irrationally, often in a downward spiral. For example: OMG that pimple is huge -> why is it so big and noticeable -> its so ugly -> im so ugly -> everyone is gonna see it and think im gross -> no one will take me seriously because they think I dont take care of myself -> I should just stay inside instead. Again, skin and beauty fixations can DEFINITELY fall under cognitive distortions. If you notice things look worse the more you look at them, then it is probably your brain being mean to you and not your actual skin!! For instance, I used an exfoliating serum last night, and when I woke up i groggily felt my face and it felt SO SMOOTH. Then I looked in the mirror, and all I could see was the GIANT pimple on my neck, worse than yesterday and HIDEOUS. I feel like its a volcanic eruption popping out of my neck. Then I look at the rest of my face and suddenly it doesnt seem so smooth and glowy anymore. My eyes are bloodshot from lack of sleep, my dark circles are terrible, i have forehead creases and texture, my dark spots arent going away, and my lips are chapped. I look gross. First picture is my one pimple, next to what I think my pimple looks like (zoomed in). The second picture is my face in my poor bathroom lighting with the contrast increased a bit. Third picture is what the little pimple actually looks like in sunlight. Fourth and final picture is my skin in the sun, absolutely zero makeup or primer or anything with shimmer, just naturally glowing beautiful skin!! It is all about perspective. Skin positivity doesn’t necessarily have to be about loving your acne or imperfections, sometimes it is just knowing that they are NORMAL, and most importantly to STOP FOCUSING ON THE BLEMISHES! Take a selfie in bright sunlight and allow yourself to see all the beautiful things about your skin. Reframe the way you see your skin and STOP STARING IN THE MIRROR! Love you all in this community ❤️ Side note: someone please explain these neck zits? Im getting them a lot suddenly the past few months 😫

Dewy, Springy Vibe
I’m baaaaack! After a long hiatus due to health reasons, I finally feel healthy enough to actually do my makeup! Hooray! I had some fun with the NATASHA DENONA - Eyeshadow Palette 5 in Peak which is such a great palette. I also cheated and used bareMinerals - Gen Nude Eyeshadow Palette in “Soul” in my crease. Both of these shadow palettes are fantastic and very easy to work with/blend. The color payoff is great as well, especially the Natasha Denona shadows. I’ll be posting another look soon with the bareMinerals palette so you can get more of an idea of how gorgeous this collection is, so stay tuned. I’m still loving Glossier. - Futuredew Oil Serum Hybrid because no matter how dull and dry my skin is looking, this serum can bring me back from dead-looking to hydrated and bright. I’m off to get vaccinated! Wish me luck 💕
Lit From Within Glowwww✨😍
I recently started using these 4 products for almost 2 weeks now & I’m never turning back!!! •YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream •YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil •YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask •Glossier. - Futuredew Oil Serum Hybrid I have never had such a consistent glow to my skin since starting these! I get complimented daily! I love these products so much. The two Youth To The People creams absorb so quickly & don’t leave it feeling like you have all this junk on your face either. My previous moisturizer would always pill up once I went to put anything else on my face & these don’t do that! The Glossier serum is also extremely light & doesn’t clog pores which is something I was worried about initially. It comes out in this pinkish color but it doesn’t turn your skin any other, it just gives you a dewy look. & the Youth To The People serum is amazing of course! It literally gives me this glow like no other! A little bit goes a very long way, as with most of their products. Now I just need to clear up the little bit of texture I have left in my chin! I blame it on the fact that I went out quite a bit the last week (church, grocery shopping, random errands) & of course wore a mask the whole time! Resulting in some maskne 😢 But that is just temporary! As is every blemish! I definitely recommend trying these products guys! They are HOLY GRAILS if there ever was one! @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick

Post acne scarring🥴 Ultimately, “less is more” is why my skin isn’t breaking out daily. No more painful, cystic acne. I got my skin adjusted to the bare minimum.👍🏼 I slowly introduce new products. No acids (Salicylic, Lactic, etc…), no exfoliating, no topicals. This stage of my skin journey is to allow my skin to heal & do what it’s supposed to do without disrupting the healing process. I still provide my skin with the necessary ingredients needed to assist with barrier repair & a healthy biome. Ceramides, Probiotics, Hyaluronic Acid, Colloidal Oatmeal, Niacinamide, Green Tea. * If anybody could recommend any more barrier repair products &/or ingredients i’m all 👂🏼 ✨Self Luv/ Self Care✨ With consistency, comes results💋

Jet lag mask for the jetless ✈️
I got this full sized product from my favorite subscription beauty box, Boxycharm. From first impressions, the packaging is absolutely elegant! I felt so fancy😂 I use this in the morning as part of my wake up routine, and I absolutely love it! It goes on smoothly, and it gives the skin a slight tingling sensation, which I love. It’s great for dry skin, and leaves my face looking refreshed and awake- ready to tackle mommin’ my 4 wild sons. It’s a pretty pricey product, so I’m conserving, but I will definitely repurchaseSUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask
How many masks are too many...?
I used to love masking! I’d do at least 1 to 2 a week. Now I’ve gotten lazy and just don’t do them and I have so many I need to start using before they expire! For me, I feel having an exfoliating mask and a hydrating mask is all you need. Unless your using the product consistently you’re not going to see changes. Masks are great for plumping up the skin, adding hydration and even a soft glow. But of all the masks I’ve used I’ve never found long term effects from them (except exfoliating). One way I like to use them is right before a big night (or day) out. To give my skin that added boost. Some that are great for doing so are: FARMACY - Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask (use as a 10 min mask) SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask And many others that help brighten and hydrate! I will also not go without my exfoliating masks which I do once a week. Some faves are: PAULA'S CHOICE - 25% AHA + 2% BHA Exfoliant Peel YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial And a few others I have that I liked to use; BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Detox Mask ELEMIS - Superfood Vital Veggie Mask bliss - Mighty Marshmallow Mask Unfortunately as I said, I just don’t mask as often as I used to. And I feel it isn’t necessary. If you like to then I suggest you get yourself an exfoliating and moisturizing/hydrating mask and you should be good to go. Treatments are where you want to really zone in and specialize your finances for. Is it Friday yet? Ugh! I’ve been down all week with a neck I cannot turn - ouchie! And a migraine on top of that! I’m ready to knock my dogs out cause they are wanting out every half hour (it’s nice here ⛅️) Much ❤️ my skinnies 🍒

Toner, Serum and Mask for Combo/dry Skin
First of all, my skin type is combo/dry, and there are the face toner, serum and mask that I want to recommend to you if you have the same skin type. Dr. Hauschka - Facial Toner This Facial Toner is more suitable for dry and sensitive skin. It's very mild and I like how it feels on my face . I love its spray nozzle which creates a fine and delicate mist. Overall, it's very suitable for soothing acne-prone skin. Kiehl's - Midnight Recovery Concentrate The price is not cheap, but it's a great product and you only use a little of it every time. This is why I think it's worth its price. Its main function is skin repair. When I wake up the next morning after using it the previous night, my skin feels great and glowy! I think it does a decent job in terms of maintaining skin balance, moisturizing and lightening acne scars. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask I will use it for these two purposes: To hydrate my skin before makeup and for repair after sunlight exposure. I sometimes use this mask to adjust my skin condition before applying makeup. I will use this mask to calm my skin after sun damage. It repairs my skin very well.

popular korean skincare products review
This past month I have been testing some korean skincare products that I was really excited to try these so below are my thoughts! 🤍💛🤍 LAGOM - Cellus Sun Gel SPF50+ I had been on the hunt for an spf I can wear under makeup and on top of my already thick moisturizer. I wanted something that was lightweight but not drying (I’m already married to my belif moisturizing bomb so I wanted something I can use in conjunction to that) and wouldn’t leave me a white cast. I have been using this for over two weeks. It doesn’t look like a gel when you squeeze it out the tube but it does apply very nicely on the skin and doesn’t feel heavy at all. I love this under makeup b/c it doesn’t start to pill nor does it do that on top of my moisturizer either. If you have oily skin you would love this and can definitely use this alone and replace it with your daytime moisturizer. However, I have dry combo skin and I once tested it out on its own and after awhile my skin needed a lot more hydration and had to apply my moisturizer. I’m not mad at this though b/c I wanted to use something in addition to my daily moisturizer. Also it doesn’t smell bad at all. Overall, it’s a great sunscreen and I will be repurchasing. However, it is a little pricey for a small bottle which you’re going to apply every day more than once. PureHeals - Propolis 90 Ampoule After trying out the PureHeals Propolis Softening Toner, I was eager to repurchase the full size and saw that they had a propolis ampoule and added it to my cart. I’ve been trying this out for over two weeks and have been incorporating it into my morning skincare routine. The product is meant to hydrate the skin and it does exactly that, therefore, I think it is a good product. However, I wouldn’t call it a holygrail or something absolutely necessary for my skin b/c I already have other hydrating products that have other benefits in conjunction to that. I don’t think I will be repurchasing b/c it isn’t something I need; however, I do like it and will continue using it until I finish the product. PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum Now, I know my rating of this product is really low but I have my reasons. I know a lot of people rave about this product so I was really excited to try it out! This is not a bad product. Nonetheless, it didn’t give me the results it said it would give me. I have been using this product for over three weeks and it hasn’t done anything for my skin. I was not expecting to get the glass skin that korean influencers have; however, the product says it minimizes pores giving the skin a poreless look. It did none of that. I struggle w/ enlarged pores that are really noticeable, therefore, I was disappointed with this product. I used it consistently day/night but now I use it only in my morning skincare routine b/c it gives me a glowy look. In the end I’ll probably repurchase the sample size simply b/c its a nice dewy primer.
LAGOM-Cellus Sun Gel SPF50+
We've talked about bellflower and the ingredients inside the Azulene Daily Calming Serum . Now let's have a look at the consistency of this blue serum and how I use it in my routine. The Azulene Daily Calming Serum comes in a generous 50ml bottle, made of frosted glass with an effective pipette at drawing the serum. As you can see in the photo, it has blue-violet color, while the yellow one is the Heartleaf Houttynia Treatment Serum which I will review in a different post later. The consistency is thicker than water. It feels like a gel at first, but then it beautifully melts into the skin like water. It doesn't feel too runny so it's very comfortable to use and spreads very easily with a plenty of slip. The instruction said this serum is supposed to be used at night as the skin regenerates the most while we sleep. Because it's so lightweight, I make it my first layer after using toner so that it doesn't interfere with the serum's absorption. I use approximately 4-6 drops per application. I just place the dropper on my face and letting the serum drip onto my skin before I lightly tap it in. It feels slightly cooling on the skin and absorbs without any tacky residue or dewy finish. The guaiazulene makes it look blue out of the bottle, but the color disappears into the skin. It won't make you look like a Smurf! The scent itself is a bit herbally, but when I applied it on my face it's actually unscented. Overall, this serum is very easy to use. The lightweight feel also agree with my oily skin. It doesn't feel like anything on the skin, which makes this serum perfect for layering. It's also great for the nights when I want to use sleeping mask.

Good Molecules Vitamin C Powder
This is perfect for people who hate their unstable vitamin c serums that constantly oxidize. I feel like I can never use one up before it totally oxidizes and becomes useless. This one has changed that for me! I just add a tiny scoop to a serum or moisturizer to get add in my l-ascorbic for the day. Pros about this- the price is amazing as with all good molecules products. I’ve found it to work well for my skin and it isn’t too strong for my sensitive skin. The jar is giant for the amount you need per day. I see it lasting quite a while. Cons about this- it can be quite gritty when you apply it. If I don’t mix it up well enough, it can mess up my makeup when applied on top. It’s for sure not as easy as a dropper bottle and I’ve lost a few scoops to my clumsiness. Overall I do really like this. I think it takes one worry out of my routine (the day you notice your vitamin c looks a little orange is never a good day). It maybe doesn’t feel as smooth on my skin as a serum but I’ve found really mixing it in to whatever I’m using has helped. I would recommend to anyone because good molecules has done it again!GOOD MOLECULES - Vitamin C Booster Powder

This Black-Owned CBD Line Puts Community At The Center of WellnessCBD that is compassionate, effective, and gives back to the community? Yes, please!Feb. 5
My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
