Salicylic acid

Is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that occurs as a natural compound in plants. It has direct activity as an anti-inflammatory agent and acts as a topical antibacterial agent due to it’s ability to promote exfoliation. Benefits: 🔸 Fights acne 🔸 Decreses oil secretion 🔸 Reduces inflammation and redness 🔸 Removes dead skin cells Side effects: can irritate (peeling, redness) and dry on very sensitive skin. So, this ingredient is best known for it's exfoliating and bacteria-fighting powers, I like it because it’s not an aggressive acid and it works well cleaning the pores and get rid of pimples. CAUDALIE - Vinopure Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser
This gel cleanser contains 100% natural salicylic acid, helps to minimize the appearance of pores, blemishes and oil. It is ideal for oily skin and combination. The texture of this cleanser is lightweight gel that foams when applied on damp skin. I really don't like the way this smells, but works well by cleaning my pores and drying pimples faster, without irritation and without drying my skin. After using it my skin feels clean and fresh. Although it contains essential oils such as the beauty elixir, but this product doesn’t cause me irritation or redness. Price: $ 28 (5 oz). TULA SKINCARE - Keep It Clear Acne Foam Cleanser
Gentle foam cleanser with salicylic acid and licorice, treats regular or occasional breakouts leaving skin looking soft and glowing. Contains 2% salicylic acid, one of the highest for sale without a prescription. This is recommended for oily skin, combination, mature, dry and acne prone. It has a foam texture, making it easy to apply and remove. The aroma of this cleanser is strong, it smells like tea tree oil. I like it because it doesn't dry my skin when I use it either, and it leaves it very fresh. It has helped me to stop new pimples. Price: $ 34 (6.3 oz). THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser
Lightly foaming cleanser that removes makeup and dirt, helping to reduce blackheads, acne and blemishes while unclogging pores. They recommend it for oily, combination and normal skin. This one like the previous one also has 2% salicylic acid. I just started using this but it has given me very good results in the pimples that come out occasionally without irritating or drying my skin, leaving it soft. It has a light and clean fragrance. Price: $ 9.99 (5 oz). This is by far the cheapest of the three, and it really works just as well as the other two. I like the results I get with them since they don’t irritate my skin. In my opinion any of the 3 are a good investment, I just started using the cleanser of The Inkey list, but I could say that it’s the one I like the most, because it has a subtle smell and leaves my skin soft after using it, in addition to having a good price.

Affordable and Effective Skincare Anyone?
Let’s talk The Inkey List. I’ve been hearing about this brand for MONTHS and never really paid much attention, until recently. I started seeing people I really trust enjoying a lot of their products and thought, hm, maybe there is something to this. So, I asked the company for a skincare routine for me based on my type of skin and concerns. So far, these are the products I’ve tried from the routine and my thoughts. I’ve been incorporating 1 new product per week but I started with the basics all together, so the Bakuchiol, Brighten-i Eye Cream, Salicylic Acid Cleanser, and Hyaluronic Acid serum have been in rotation for about a month at this point and were the first 4 products I used together. Next I incorporated the PHA Toner, and lastly was the Vitamin C serum. •Bakuchiol - I like this a lot. It sinks right in and doesn’t leave a residue, but it isn’t quite hydrating enough for me. I do think I’ll need to incorporate an oil on top, but I don’t mind. The only negative I have with this so far is the packaging. I hate this packaging. The product is too thin for this kind of tube. •Brighten-i Eye Cream - I’ve seen nothing crazy with this, but I don’t see anything crazy with any eye cream. I do like this a lot though and I like the applicator. •Hyaluronic Acid - this feels very nice on the skin. It feels velvety on the skin and soaks right in for me. It leaves no residue and I’ve been enjoying it. I don’t know that it’s helping much with keeping my skin hydrated though. •PHA Toner - I think I’m liking this a lot. I feel like it’s helped my texture and made my face feel softer. It doesn’t seem to be causing any issues, but I think it is a little drying for me. A heavier moisturizer would solve this problem, I think. •Vitamin C Serum - I’ve only been using this for a little over a week and I’m uncertain about it. I do not like the smell and and it leaves my skin EXTREMELY sticky initially. Like, I could stick a spoon to my face and it would probably stay, sticky. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to linger and sinks in after a few minutes. Even if there is a teensy bit of tackiness if I get impatient, after putting on a moisturizer it’s gone. •Salicylic Acid Cleanser - I feel like this does work well and is very gentle. It doesn’t irritate my skin or feel drying, so I really like it. It seems to help with blackheads a lot and with any active breakouts I have, so I’ve definitely been enjoying it. Products for Oily and Acne Prone Skin
🍃My skin is combo leaning dry but it definitely has its oily and acne prone moments. This products always save my skin when I’m going through a fun bout of adult puberty. 🍃 Caudalie Vinopure Pore Purifying Cleanser - I’m normally more of a cream cleanser kind of gal but this is my go to cleanser when my skin is acting up. This product contains salicylic acid but isn’t drying at all and leaves my skin feeling soft while really helping to balance my oil production. This product does contain a number of essential oils so if that’s something you’re sensitive to this may not be for you. 🍃 Caudalie Vinopure Skin Perfecting Serum - Honestly the whole Vinopure line is great. When I apply this I instantly feel it mattifying my face and it really helps with acne as well. This would be too drying for me on a daily basis so I only use it when my skin is feeling oily or breaking out but if you have consistently oily/acne prone skin your skin will love this for daily use. This product contains grapeseed polyphenols and salicylic acid but does contain essential oils so may not be the best if you’re sensitive to EOs 🍃 Drunk Elephant B Hydra - a lightweight hydrating serum containing pineapple ceramides and provitamin B5. Oily skin is often lacking hydration and can benefit from a lightweight serum like this that can penetrate deeper than a moisturizer can. For dry/combo/normal skin I recommend layering this under a moisturizer but for more oily skin types this is a great replacement if you find most moisturizers to be too heavy. 🍃CosRX Oil after Moisturizing Lotion - This lightweight moisturizer contains an impressive 70% birch sap which soothes the skin and helps to retain moisture (this moisturizer is actually designed to be used with CosRX’s BHA line but it’s a great moisturizer for any routine). I honestly love this whether I’m having an oily or dry day. It sinks in quickly and isn’t heavy at all but leaves my skin feeling super soft and plumped. And it’s only $24 for a giant bottle.
another absolute favorite of mine is the vinopure collection by caudalie CAUDALIE - Vinopure Skin Perfecting Kit a bit expensive but definitely worth it. great for combination skin like mine. if you have more sensitive skin then i would recommend the CAUDALIE - Instant Foaming Cleanser it’s very gentle and works wonders!

More Reviews

I realized that despite being
I realized that despite being my favorite second cleanse of all time, I have never formally reviewed the iSCLINICAL Cleansing Complex! A low-pH runny gel cleanser, with willow bark and sugar cane extracts (natural sources of Salicylic and Glycolic Acid) and gentle surfactants to cleanse and decongest the skin. (Note, the pH is not low enough for the extracts to effectively exfoliate, but they certainly add to its decongesting properties). I was previously in the camp of ‘cleansers aren’t on the skin long enough to have effect’ but this cleanser was the first to change my mind almost two years ago. This cleanser is leap years ahead of the traditional cleansers marketed towards oily/acne skins. It is neither harsh nor remotely stripping to the skin, yet is still able to effectively prevent breakouts (congestion in particular, in my experience) by removing dirt, debris and dead skin cells to prevent build up within the pore. I’ve noticed that when I’ve gone through phases of opting for something like Glossier Milky Jelly instead - I will experience more congestion or inflamed breakouts than if I were using the Cleansing Complex consistently. I’ll admit, I’ll occasionally yearn for a more sensory experience with a fun-textured or heavenly-scented cleanser, and sometimes switch it out - but I’m always running back (sometimes within days) to this one. It’s fragrance-free, fuss-free and it does the job - and more. I would recommend this for combo-oily and in particular, acneic skins. Though I have seen people with drier skin types also use this with success.

LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin PRODUCT FUNCTION Non-drying gel cleanser TARGET CONCERNS acne, dullness, inflammation TEXTURE/CONSISTENCY It’s a clear gel, that lathers up very nicely! MY THOUGHTS Before this cleanser, I was struggling with acne on my forehead and chin. I’ve only been using it for a month and they are all gone! That’s why I love it! This cleanser contains 2% Salicylic Acid, LHA which can go deep into pores and help clear them out! This also contains zinc gluconate which is a PHA (poly hydroxy acid) which is a more gentle form of exfoliation compared to BHA or even AHA. I would recommend this to all my friends suffering from acne, and it is totally worth the P.S. It’s pretty affordable as well!!

The purifying gel cleanser is
The purifying gel cleanser is part of the Vinopure line aimed at oily gals like myself! It contains natural salicylic acid for minimizing oil production and sebum buildup, along with grapeseed polyphenols, essential oils, grape water, and rosewater 🍇🌹⁣ ⁣ This cleanser came to me at a time where I was experiencing lots of texture on my forehead, random cystic acne and whiteheads, and my blackheads were enlarged and oily. I blame my genes and the summer humidity for that! I began using this cleanser day & night (per recommendation, I usually don’t use a cleanser in the morning and have since gone back to that). After a few days I noticed that my blackheads had shrunk and after about a week most of my acne had subsided. Now, after two weeks, the pores on my nose appear significantly smaller and I haven’t had any more cystic acne. I still get the occasional whitehead, but my nose doesn’t look straight up slippery anymore and that’s a huge win for me! The gel to foam consistency is a favorite for me because it makes me feel like it’s working. The scent is also super refreshing, like a nice blend of essential oils. As an oily girl I will 1000% repurchase this cleanser when I run out! ⁣

The BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Cleansing Gel is a gel cleanser made specifically for oily and acne prone skin to control excess oil and purify pores. Its purpose is to cleanse while also controlling sebum and not stripping the skin. I really love this cleanser, it’s a nice cool gel that I received from Cherie not too long ago and have been using it for like a month. As an oily gal, often regular cleansers are too gentle for me and don’t do much to help my oiliness. On the flip side, cleansers marketed specifically for oily skin are usually a bit harsh or contains a lot of alcohol. This Biossance cleanser definitely balances my skin without leaving it feeling tight or dry, which is awesome!! After I use it I feel like I have soft, normal skin and I have no oily shine on my face. I think what makes this cleanser different from other cleansers for oily skin is the squalene and tea tree oil in it. Squalane is an emollient that locks moisture into the skin and tea tree oil helps acne, is anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial. I think anyone who has oily or acne prone skin would love this cleanser. I would also recommend it to dry skin types because it’s really not that harsh and it’s good for acne, so I think anyone could use it and potentially like it!! Usually it’s $29 which isn’t too bad in my opinion, but right now it’s discounted on Biossance’s website for just $12 which is a STEAL! I seriously adore this cleanser, and right now the price is even better. 5/5 stars.
