Glow 2OH Dark Spot Toner
This toner is absolutely amazing and a personal favourite. It gets rid of dark spots SO quick and easily. I have attached an image of this giant pimple I had on my forehead and of the pigmented scar it left behind and how with daily use of this toner, it got rid of my scars in a matter of days!! ( just a heads up - I’m unsure about how well it would do on sensitive skin since I have non-sensitive skin!! :))

If you are dealing with acne scarring, maybe this post will help! Acne scars are formed when a breakout penetrates the skin deeply and damages the tissues beneath it. During the healing process, the body produces collagen—a substance that gives the skin support. If the body produces too little or too much collagen, you will see a scar. Who is at risk for acne scarring? When a person Has inflammatory (swollen, reddish, and painful) acne. These often include acne cysts and nodules. This type of acne tends to penetrate deep into the skin, which damages the skin. Delays or does not treat inflammatory acne The longer a person has inflammatory acne, the greater the risk of scarring. Picks, squeezes, or pops acne This increases inflammation, which increases the risk of scarring. Has a blood relative who developed acne scars Genes play a large role. Products that are recommended by dermatologists: SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum SHANI DARDEN SKIN CARE - Retinol Reform Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment OLE HENRIKSEN - Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner Dr Dennis Gross - Skincare Alpha Beta Peel Extra Strength Formula 30 Applications If you have tried over the counter products and still aren’t seeing any results, your best bet is to see a good dermatologist. They use the following treatments: Laser skin resurfacing Chemical peeling Dermabrasion Microdermabrasion (differs from kits bought for at-home use) Resurfacing works well for treating acne scars that are nearly flat (not too deep). Even dermabrasion, which removes the top layers of skin and some of the middle layers, cannot effectively treat deep acne scars. For deeper scarring, they sometimes use fillers. A dermatologist may fill acne scars with collagen, the patient’s own fat, or another substance. Many fillers give temporary results, which last between 6 and 18 months. Some fillers are permanent. Collagen -induction therapy, skin tightening, electrodesication, and even scar surgery are also used. The takeaway is don’t think that you don’t have options! Definitely give the products I listed a good try. It can take months and months to really start seeing results so you definitely need to be patient. If those do not work for you, your dermatologist has a ton of options ❤️ Remember that no matter your skin, you are beautiful!!!
Battle of the Toners 🥊
💭 I remember when I was in high school, I would use toners as makeup removers. I cringe at that memory, specifically because it was an alcohol heavy toner that would burn my face and eyes every time... This memory made realize how misunderstood toners are and how much they’ve evolved! This post will give you a brief intro to the toners I use and why! ❗️Please do not use alcohol based toners. There is no need to be that silly. We can treat skin concerns without damaging your skin barrier. Hydrating Toners: My favorite type of toner! I use it almost every morning and night (when I don’t use exfoliants). I like these because they’re gentle and nourish your skin with the moisture it needs. It’s basically the prepping step so your next skincare products can absorb more efficiently into the skin. I have been using my rice toner for a while now and it’s a holy grail. Check out my other post for my review on it! I'm from - Rice Toner AHA Exfoliation Toners: These are a wonder and come in so many different formulations/percentages that I believe any skin type will be able to find their perfect match! I use these probably 2x/week max depending on if I’m using an AHA serum or not (I never use them together). I like these toners a lot better because I really do see a difference since using them long term. I’ve seen a huge decrease in dullness and breakouts! Be careful if you’re new to exfoliation or have sensitive skin. The YTTP might be a little too strong if you don’t have the tolerance but once you build up to it, it’s a fantastic product. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner I’m not a fan of the Ole Henriksen one. It claims to reduce dark spots and it did not do it for me. I’m still using it just because I need to finish it. But would not repurchase. As for exfoliation, I think it might be a good starter but overall the fragrance aspect of it is not my favorite and I think you can find better exfoliation toners/serums out there. OLE HENRIKSEN - Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner BHA Exfoliation Toners: You got an acne flare up? Milia? Inflammation? Blackheads? This is your stop! BHA products are fat soluble so they dig deep in your pores and get rid of excess oils or dead skin. This in turn makes your pores look smaller, erase black head visibility and calm your acne inflammation! I bought the Paulas Choice BHA toner bc I kept getting blackheads around my nose and my hormonal acne needed to be tamed. The toner did just that and even made me look a little brighter/ glowy the next day! I love this product and even tho it markets that it can be used every day, I kind of just use it the weeks I feel that I need to treat my hormonal acne or if my pores are looking quite large. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator 💡Final Thoughts: Start with a small % & don’t overuse.
Wow wow wow!! 🌝
I was waiting to use this product for a month to get write a review but 2 weeks in, and I am impressed!! I have oily/ acne prone skin. I scar very easily and more so than acne, I struggle with getting rid of marks to get an overall clear appearance. I use this toner every night after I wash my face. The directions say to put the toner on a cotton pad and apply all over. However, I think that’s a waste of product for me because I have a couple specific areas. I put the toner on a cotton pad and then hold it over my problem area for about 20 seconds so my skin can really soak in the product. 2 weeks in, and my spots have gotten lighter for sure! I will continue using the product and update this review when I’ve hit the one month mark 😬 OLE HENRIKSEN - Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner

HIT OR MISS? Ole Henriksen Dark Spot Toner
Hey!! Thought I would review the OLE HENRIKSEN - Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner as I had quite a different experience from the majority of the reviews on Sephora. This product is 190ml (i.e. 6.5 FL. OZ.) and retails for $39 AUD (at Sephora). It claims to be a ‘dark spot’ toner- essentially consisting of glycolic acid, witch hazel and lactic acid & is meant to help with dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles. While I can’t comment on how it performed on fine lines & wrinkles (as I’m quite young), I thought I would review it based on how it performed on my dark spots. I would apply this with a cotton pad (as instructed on the back) after cleansing my face, and would use it on consecutive nights (since my skin isn’t sensitive, it was okay with the level of usage). I have ice pick scars, and general acne scars on my cheeks especially, with slight hyperpigmentation specifically around my mouth. If you do purchase this, make sure you don’t put it over broken skin (like I did a couple times) because it stings SO BAD, which is to be expected. I trusted in the reviews on Sephora and bought it as the reviews claimed it had amazing results for their skin, but it did close to nothing for mine. I never woke up the next day with glowing skin or seeing a reduction in the appearance of my acne scars nor the hyperpigmentation around my mouth. From what I can tell, AHAs aren’t that great for brown skin. I watched a video on YouTube by a doctor that specialises in hyperpigmentation for POC (here’s a link if you’re interested: https://youtu.be/dP7aNadaBKk) and the way she explained it was that it is just a bad concoction of ingredients that do not help your skin. Some of the ingredients that it has includes fragrance, witch hazel, glycolic acid & lactic acid- which is very harsh for the skin altogether. The fragrance is nice but very strong, which is especially concerning for a skincare product. My experience with it was basically that it did nothing- no improvements but it didn’t irritate my skin either. The only reason why I’ve used so much of it was to give the product several chances for redemption & use it up so it doesn’t feel like I wasted so much money 😭 As for those who have intense hyperpigmentation, you may see results from this. My friend’s dad used this and he has quite severe hyperpigmentation (almost looked like melasma, but I’m not too sure) and he said he’s seeing really great results. My friend (who only has a little bit of hyperpigmentation) said that she also saw no difference in using the toner like me. I’ve also seen reviews saying it burnt some people; while I didn’t have this reaction as I don’t have sensitive skin, this is something to be aware of. Please do more research if you’re looking into buying this product. Ultimately, I wouldn’t recommend this nor purchase it again. I’m having far greater experiences with The Ordinary products like Niacinamide and Granactive Retinoid Emulsion than this, for more than 1/2 the price. Hope this review was useful!! 💗

How I Deal With My Acne
Big disclaimer before I begin: I don’t get a lot of huge breakouts. My main problems are dark spots and dullness. Acne? Not so much, although I do get pimples here and there around my monthly period. My methods for getting rid of my acne may not work for people who deal with a lot of cystic acne, but if I manage to at least point you in the right direction, it would make me really, really happy! ☺️ So anyway, like many other people out there, I tend to get pimples on my nose, forehead, jaw, and chin. There’s nothing wrong with getting pimples, but I can’t deny that not only do they not look pretty, they’re also a hassle to deal with (painful pimples, I’m glaring at you right now). This method has never failed to solve my issue with my pimples. Whenever I get them, I simply use these three products. If I happen to have a breakout, I switch my toner to COSRX - Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner because it’s really gentle and soothing to the skin. Centella is an ingredient that is known to be really effective for blemished skin. But not all Centella products are effective in removing pimples. In fact, for a while, I also used COSRX - Centella Blemish Cream but it worked so slowly that I wasn’t sure if it even helped. Plus, with a price tag of $20 per 30ml tub, I found it too expensive for something that didn’t work too well. Thankfully, I discovered MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion It’s roughly $25 per 30ml bottle, which is technically more expensive than Cosrx’s Blemish Cream. But since it works like magic, it’s really worth the price you pay. Just dip a q-tip into the bottle and apply the solution right on your pimple. When you wake up the next day, your pimple will be either be flat or considerably smaller. That’s why I said it works like magic. Once the pimple starts drying, I use COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch to cover it up and to speed up the healing. I also use it on pimples that have already popped, because again, it helps greatly with the healing process. It also helps me avoid scars that could come from pimples. With just these three products, I could easily deal with my pimples, especially around that time of the month. What about you, what do you use to combat your acne? Let me know in the comments below!

Face Rash Chronicles
It’s like my face is getting worst. I’m so worried that this is going to be permanent and leave some scarring... my skin isn’t smooth any more more, I’m breaking out like crazy... 😔 and I have a wedding to go to on Sunday... I’m a tad bit disappointed in myself.. some people may think that I’m being dramatic but I’ve worked really hard to get clear skin. I’ve done a lot of diy stuff, mask, etc and I actually found products that work for my skin... I was getting facials because 1. It’s relaxing. 2. Dark spot. I get hairs that grow on my chin and side of my face and I tweeze sometimes picking at my skin to get the hair.... 😩😩😩 now I still have dark spots and itchy skin and break outs, redness etc. My esthetician gave me some script script samples to use. I don’t know if I was paying attention properly but I feel as soon as I put it on my skin looked liked it got worst. It also kind of stung. Minus the stinging it could all just be in my head. Hopefully this will work.!

Brighter, More Even Skin in just 10 Days!
Before we start, pleaaaase pardon my quarantine brows/hair. **GIFTED: I’ve been trying Georgette Klinger’s new Vitamin Collection through Cherie for the past 10 days and have been loving the line so far. This was my first experience with GK and the first time that I’ve ever followed a routine from a brand, so I was excited to see how using products that were designed to go together and comprised of similar ingredients would affect my skin. As someone with sensitive acne-prone skin with a pinch of rosacea, I’m constantly chasing acne scars and dark spots trying to get rid of every last trace of my breakouts, so using a routine fortified with vitamin C has been really helpful is fighting discoloration/hyperpigmentation and redness. I’ve been using each product twice daily. On day 1, I had some hormonal pimples that were on their way out and my skin was super red from being in the sun. By day 5, the scarring began to decrease and I noticed that the bright redness had started to go down as well, making things look more even and now on day 10, everything is barely there and my complexion is noticeably more even and radiant. Dare I say, the vitamin C might be helping keep my breakouts at bay (fingers crossed!!) In addition to brightening my skin, I noticed that the products helped smooth my skin’s texture as well, which is always welcome. Overall, I'm really pleased with the way the Vitamin C collection has been treating my skin and am so happy to have been able to try it out!

Not worth the hype🙈🥺
𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐡𝐚 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭 ~ a watery essence packed with 80% Fermented Yeast Extract, an ingredient with similar components to NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor) to target imbalanced skin; aims to improve the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone while hydrating, and rejuvenates the skin to yield a glowing complexion. MISSHA - Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist I used this essence last year (I did not finish the bottle and got rid of it) I really wanted to love it 🙈 I've heard nothing but good things about it but I used more than half a bottle and didn't notice much of a difference. Maybe my skin was really problematic to start with. I did not expect it to cure my acne or help with hyperpigmentation, but I did not notice a difference when it came to radiance, skin texture, or redness either. To add, I’ve never really had good results with using fermented yeast extract. It seems to never really work on my oily acne prone skin. It claims to help diminish fine lines and wrinkles so I suppose it’s formulated and better for use on mature and dry skin. I did love the packaging and the feel of the product when you put it on though. It certainly hydrates but that’s about it. In my opinion, I don't understand the hype of this product and I think there are likely much better essences out there (like the Iope Bio Essence). I know I'm in the minority on this, so if you're on the fence it may be worth a shot for you. I’d go for rice extract.
