I will get another jar of TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream
Jan. 2
Product Mentioned
Best Products with Antioxidants
three ships - Radiance Grape Stem Cell + Squalene Day Cream a light cream texture with grape stem cell and squalane. The grape stem cell contains antioxidants called anthocyanins which absorbs UV radiation. The grape stem cell is also embryonic which means it can change into any cell needed- in this case, acting as a catalyst to new skin cell production. Gives a beautiful glow as well. If you shop on their site, you can save 20% with my code LEENA 20.
fresh - Lotus Youth Preserve Moisturizer Another lightweight cream with Super Lotus as the antioxidant component. Super Lotus was formulated to targets the first signs of aging by supporting the skinās barrier and protecting from free radicals. The white, large jar is a day cream, while the smaller blue jar is the night cream. Its richer in texture and smells like peaches. fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer
BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil a rich but non-sticky oil; vitamin c is a known potent antioxidant, and while acting as a gold standard for skin brightening and hyperpigmentation reduction, its also a great antioxidant to help with preventing signs of aging.
KOSMETIC IMMUNITY - Luminous Skin-Defense Moisturizer This light gel-lotion contains mBeta glucan for hydration and powerful antioxidants derived from Lotus, Aloe and Bamboo, helps protect skin, defending against environmental aggressors.
All of these make excellent day creams depending on your brand and/or texture preference. Would highly recommend trying any of these if you're looking for a good antioxidant product.

Skin Update āØāØ
Okay this is a totally non filtered sun photo of my skin.
Still working on minor texture this is due to my new skin routine (I posted about my morning and will post my night).
I try and show my skin with new routines and products I use because I get so many !
The number one thing I will say is be consistent!
I saw a post from @MelaninSkinCareAddict(great post you should go check it out) and I loved it and it inspired me to show results from some advice she saw.
My last skin update was 12/22 which I showed a unfiltered close up of my skin and the breakout I had endure out of the states!
I will say for texture, hyperpigmentation, and acne you need:
ļæ¼effective vitamin C serum- should have vitamin E (tocopherol), hyaluronic acid, and Ferulic acid
insta natural - Vitamin C Serum
Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum
ļæ¼retinol-
DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel is my first go to, but now I use The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane

COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser (only when I oil cleanse) (3xs a weeks when I wear my night mask)
PEACH & LILY - Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser (mostly for nights)
ļæ¼toner: a great toner will be your friend! This is important for removing dirts and oils. If you wear makeup this is a necessity.
PAULA'S CHOICE - Enriched Calming Toner
Murad - Clarifying Toner
innisfree - Jeju Lava Seawater Lotion
ļæ¼sunscreen: at least spf30 TULA SKINCARE - Daily Sunscreen Gel Broad Spectrum SPF 30

How I Built an Entire Routine for Under $150
For a long time I was intimated by skincare because it seemed very expensive and overwhelming. How do I know what to buy š¤·š»āāļø
When I started noticing wrinkles that was enough of a push for me to invest in skincare. Hereās some great lessons Iāve learned to build your skincare routine affordably:
1. Research to figure out what you need- hereās where my love of @cheriestarted! I read lots of reviews, advice, so I knew what type of products I should buy and what ingredients I should focus on.
2. Keep it Simple
Itās easy to want to buy new products, adding new steps or ingredients to your routine, or try out the hype after reading reviews! Focus on your concerns and add slowly to give your skin time to adjust and see whatās working. Itās better to have a few great products that you love than many products you donāt use.
I started with:
Cleanse
AM antioxidant serum, PM anti-aging serum
Moisturizer
Sunscreen
Toners, eye cream, facial oil, and masks can be extras if you are looking to save money
3. Spend your money on the middle - if you can only splurge on one product make it the serum! This has the most benefit. Drugstore cleansers, moisturizers, and spf are great!
4. Try some great affordable brands such as The Ordinary, The Inkey List, Versed, or CeraVe
5. Buy trial size first, Value Sets or better free rewards before investing in a new product
6. Once youāve found your Holy Grails keep your eyes open for sales to stock up, join the brands mailing list or reward program, buy value size
Hereās my current skincare line-up and how much it cost me:

Dirty Dozen Chemicals in my Skincare
I want to move towards a clean skincare routine. My current products were not purchased with clean skincare in mind, but I want to know how many of the Dirty Dozen chemicals are in my skincare. See my previous clean skincare posts for more details.
Dirty Dozen Chemicals to Avoid:
1. Coal Tar Dyes
2. DEA / MEA / TEA
3. Phthalates / Parfum / fragrence
4. Formaldehyde releasing perservatives
5. Parabens
6. PEG compounds
7. Petrolatum
8. Siloxanes
9. Sulfates
10. Triclosan
11. Talc
12. Hydroquinone
A quick summary, almost every product contains PEGs! PEGs (polyethylene glycols) are petroleum-based compounds that are widely used in cosmetics as thickeners, solvents, softeners, and moisture-carriers. Depending on manufacturing processes, PEGs may be contaminated with measurable amounts of ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane, known human carcinogens. 1,4-dioxane can be removed from cosmetics during the manufacturing process by vacuum stripping, but there is no easy way for consumers to know whether products containing PEGs have undergone this process.
Hereās whatās in my current products:

first aid beauty
āāāāāāāāā
FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oil-Control Moisturizer i was super excited to tey this out because the ingredients are fungal acne safe and the claims were ideal for my skin type but sadly i was disappointed š it didnāt control my oil but rather left mw with this shine on my forehead! and it didnāt moisture my dry cheeks. epic fail
FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Coconut Water Cream this is a very basic fungal acne safe moisturizer i recommend to literally every one. i do like it and all but i find my skin still breaking out while i use this product. i would give it a 3 1/2 stars but i cant.

Purchase or Pass
Iāve used up the entire mini size and have to admit that Iāve enjoyed using it. It feels very light but acts very hydrating. A little bit of this goes a long way. I definitely saw the plumping effect and the ingredient list does not include anything that I noticed to be irritating
Iām on an in between for my purchase/pass due to the current drama regarding this brand and their ethical sourcing. What are your thoughts?
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream Deluxe Sample
Pros:
ļæ¼smooth and plumping
ļæ¼light and hydrating
ļæ¼fragrance free
ļæ¼great for day/night
Cons:
ļæ¼brand dilemma
ļæ¼on the expensive side of skincare (full size retails at $68)
Allao
Such a healthy glow going this morning my skin is looking amazing honestly better then it ever has, itās winter months here in Canada now and I just switched from the tatcha water cream to the dewy cream because I needed something more thicker and hydrating because my skin was getting dry and flakey even though I have oily skin in the summer but in the winter itās dry but dense switching my cleanser to the rice wash from the deep cleanse no more dry skin! TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream TATCHA - The Rice Wash Skin-Softening Cleanser
MelissaReid
Just okay for such an expensive product :/
First Impression: I opened the box and WOW is this small for $20! I never shop at Sephora and the only reason I bought this was because I received a $25 gift card recently but I was at least expecting this to be a little bit bigger. Like .5 fl oz instead of .34 maybe? I have heard amazing things from dozens of skincare sites so I couldnāt wait to try it!
Opening: When I opened the tin, it looked thick due to its color, but once I put some on it was VERY thin. When I use my regular Clinique Moisture Surge (which is super hydrating) it is very lightweight but still a little bit heavier than this. Smells great!
Next day: I have to say the combo of this and THE BODY SHOP - Jumbo Tea Tree Oil has me waking up with the smoothest skin but lately my skin has been feeling much drier due to the cold (not on just my face) and I donāt think it is as hydrating as I expected it to be. The cream dries very quickly which makes me want to put another layer on and when I wake up I still have dry spots. Like I said I feel VERY smooth but not as hydrated as Iād like.
Verdict: I feel like this would definitely benefit me better around the summer/springtime when Iām not looking for complete re-hydration of my skin and more of a moisturizer but I do not think this is the holy grail I was expecting it to be. Try it out if you get the opportunity because all skin is different! But for my combination skin and hormonal acne, itās gonna be a no from me, dawg :(

š¤ @freshbeauty Lotus youth preserve moisturizer- this moisturizer is packed with antioxidants and it helps prevents signs of visible aging. fresh - Lotus Anti- Aging Daily Moisturizer
š¤ @youthtothepeople superfood air-whip moisture cream- Iām definitely getting this in itās bigger size. You all know #yttp delivers all the time and this moisturizer is no exception. So which one to pickš¤
First, follow me for more content like this š
*DISCLOSURE: Not full size*
So Iāve used both the Belif aqua bomb and moisturizing bomb, and Iāve come to the conclusion that I love the aqua bomb more. But before I get into why, letās break down the differences.
Aqua bomb
šgel cream
šwater based
šgreat for normal, oily, and combo
šsolution for dryness, pores, and dullness and uneven texture
šblue in color
Moisturizing bomb
š¤cream texture
š¤great for normal and dry skin
š¤solution for dryness and loss of firmness
š¤white in color
While I do like both and they are both great products, the aqua bomb is more catered to the concerns that I have. I love that it gives my face a literal drink of water. I feel so refreshed and my skin feels so smooth. I feel super hydrated all day. I can feel the moisturizing bomb sitting on my face while with the aqua bomb it melts into the skin. In my opinion the aqua bomb is better, but itās to you and your skin concerns. If youāre more in the drier side, the moisturizing bomb is definitely for you, but if youāre like me and have normal to oily skin definitely pick up the aqua bomb. Or Try both and see how you feel. Both products are $22. I hope this helpsš„ŗšbelif - The True Cream-Moisturizing Bomb belif - The True Cream Aqua Bomb

PTR Jet Set Facial! Is it worth it?
Peter Thomas Roth is definitely a more luxury skincare brand, but are the products worth the money spent. I tried these four minis in order to see. The results were hit and miss, however, this is a common occurrence since there isnāt a perfect brand.
PETER THOMAS ROTH - Cucumber Gel Masque
This is supposedly a calming mask that is supposed to reduce redness, however, the ingredient list is very contradictory. Citrus extracts are very irritating to the skin and are more commonly used in exfoliating products for their properties. While the product does contain very good soothing ingredients such as allantoin, aloe, sugar cane extract and cucumber extract. It also contains lemon, orange, pineapple and papaya extracts which as mentioned before, are irritating ingredients. The product also contains dyes which can also cause irritation.
PETER THOMAS ROTH - Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream
This moisturizer has a very unique soft gel cream texture that glides over the skin and absorbs quickly. It leaves the skin feeling very soft and hydrated. Mica is included in the ingredients which adds a very soft glow to the skin. This product is fragrance-free which is amazing! Included in this product are hyaluronic acid, a vast amount of ceramides, and glycerin. These are amazing ingredients for hydrating and restoring the skin. The brand claims that the product provides continuous hydration which lasts up to 72 hours. However, there are no clinical studies to support this claim. Furthermore, the brand recommends applying the moisturizer twice a day for the best results which is confusing. So does the hydration provided really last 72 hours?
PETER THOMAS ROTH - Water Drench Cloud Cream Cleanser
This is a fragrance-free cleanser with a very gentle formula that is more suitable for combination to oily skin. It cleanses the skin well without leaving a tight feeling. Itās a pretty simple cleanser so thereās not much to say. There are superior cleansers out there at a much more affordable price point.
PETER THOMAS ROTH - Firmx Peeling Gel
This product relies heavily on fruit based enzymes for exfoliation. While these enzymes can exfoliate dead skin cells, it is very difficult to keep these enzyme stable in formulations. This means that the results arenāt as reliable as AHA and BHA exfoliating products. This product acts more like a scrub than a traditional peeling gel and as such, itās the scrubbing action that makes skin feel smoother. This is a very overpriced product for what is essentially a scrub. The brand also claims that the product can decongest pores, but a scrub is not a good option to use against blemishes. It is fragrance-free so a point for that!
PETER THOMAS ROTH - Jet, Set, Facial! Kit
Will I repurchase any of these products? Nope.

Some of the best mini...
Loving TATCHA - The Water Cream it really moisturizing!!! It is a great day cream for those with dry skin!!
TATCHA-The Water Cream
My Holy Grail Facial Creams
I want my facial creams to be hydrating, moisturizing, lightweight and not cause breakouts. I recommend these two products that I've been using recently.
La Roche-Posay's Redermic R and Redermic C, where R is for retinol and C is for vitamin C. La Roche-Posay products have a lower concentration of active ingredients and thus are relatively mild, but I still recommend using them at night. If you use it during the day, remember to apply sunscreen. If you've never used products that contain retinol, you can start with this product from La Roche-Posay as it's really mild. It has a refreshing texture that's absorbed easily and it's really worth its price.
TATCHA - The Silk Cream product is for dry skin and it's absorbed easily by the skin. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and is actually very silky. I don't use it every day and when I do use it, I use it only at night. It's moisturizing and I think it's worth trying.
TATCHA-The Silk Cream
This is heaven!!! Silk for your skin!
this cream is the best you can use for dry skin!!! Is is recommended for sensitive skin. The consistency of TATCHA - The Silk Cream is very gel like, but it does leave your skin super soft and hydrated. Just like Silk!! We all know that Tatcha is a little expensive but every dollar is worth it ! It Iāll also last for months. Please try this cream and you will not regret it š.
TATCHA-The Silk Cream
Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream
Raise your hand if your a fan of Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream šāāļø
I picked this up when I first got into my skincare beauty back in May and just savored it! It is on the heavier side more tailored for dry skin fans but I still loved it. Especially for its dewy qualities ⨠But I was saving it for the winter months as I have combination skin and get drier through the winter. Then when my mom came out to visit she fell instantly in love and I decided to gift it to her.
I miss this beauty and may have to pick it up on a sale once again.
TATCHA-The Dewy Skin Cream
The TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Creamis an incredible moisturizer for anyone with dry skin! This is def not a product that I would recommend for people with oily skin types, because it is very moisturizing! You can see the gorgeous texture in the jar, itās silky and creamy, and itās one of those creams that you can just rub in forever. I donāt think Iāve tried a better moisturizer for dry skin! It does not absorb completely into the skin, so I love this for a night cream so that it continues being effective over night! Ok...this product is EXPENSIVE! Itās $68 USD for this 50 mL jar which is pricey as heck! However, I need the tiniest amount to cover my whole face, so the jar will last a long time. I would only recommend this to friends with dry-very dry skin, as it is probably too rich for anyone with oily skin. I give this a 4.5/5 āļø rating...I adore everything about this product except for the price! Definitely a good splurge item!š
TATCHA-The Dewy Skin Cream
Battle of the Purple Creams
So sadly only one of these babies is actually purple, but theyāre all purple containers and thick moisturizers, so letās battle them out!
TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream
This cream is dewy glow in a jar, itās thick but still light enough that it doesnāt feel heavy underneath sunscreen and makeup. It shines through these products too so makeup and sunscreen wonāt dull the glow it gives. Itās $89 CAD, available at Sephora and has that signature Tatcha scent. My sensitive skin loves this and my dry skin soaks it up. I save it for special occasions.
Kate Somerville - DeliKate Recovery Cream This is a new one to me and once I saw it launch at Sephora I had to have it. OH MY GOD. This cream is everything. Itās incredibly thick but melts down to the lightest texture ever and soaks into the skin leaving it plump, so soft and incredibly moisturized. This is actually my new holy grail. I cannot get enough. I can wear it under makeup without piling or heaviness and at night time for a rich night cream. Itās unscented, white and itās target is to seriously calm stressed skin. I love this mostly after chemical exfoliants and peels. I use it daily. Itās $110 CAD.
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream this baby was the love of my life for about three years. Iāve gone through countless jars and couldnāt get enough. Itās thick, stays thick and envelops severely dry skin with no problem to help retain moisture and hydration. I found I reached for it during the winter but once the snow started melting I gravitated towards others. This one has a slight but moisturizer smell, available at Sephora and it $84.
So after all that, Drunk Elephant is best for price and dry skin, Tatcha is a luxury for dry skin but makes makeup look perfect, and Kate Somerville is just all around a perfect moisturizer but is pricey.
My favourite has to be Kate Somerville for how it has changed my skin and how versatile it is. I wonāt ever mind forking out the money for this baby.
