Skincare + Eco-Friendliness (yes, it exists!)
nikkisplayroom
Maybe you’ve been a little more environmentally conscious lately or have been a tree hugger your entire life. Whatever your case may be, I think we can all relate to the feeling of being able to do good while look good 😏🙌🏼
I personally put a lot of emphasis on being eco-friendly when it comes to the skincare industry because of how much waste can accumulate just from packaging alone. Think about how many plastic is on your shelf right now.
Here are a few products/brands that are magnetized towards being eco-friendly 👇🏼💗

I Used Up These 2⃣ Hyped Products, Here Is What Happened👉👉
I recently used up several skincare products. I noticed that these two products are pretty hyped these days, so here is my honest review. I hope this is helpful. 👇
Youth To The People focuses on natural organic ingredients. I love their idea of using recyclable packaging and being cruelty-free.
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Limited Edition Pride Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser
Main ingredients: Vitamin B5, vitamin C, kale leaf extract, spinach leaf extract and green tea leaf extract.
Among the ingredients, the cleansing ingredient is considered gentle. Vitamin B5 and vitamin C provide a moisturizing and whitening effect while the various superfood extracts have great anti-oxidant and anti-microbial properties.
Feeling: It smells really nice, doesn't create a lot of foam and can be washed off easily. It's suitable for oily skin but I don't recommend it for those with dry skin as it leaves your skin dry after it's washed off. There's nothing special about it except for its nice scent.
TATCHA
TATCHA - The Water Cream
Main ingredients: Rice ferment filtrate, green tea and algae. Rice bran keeps the skin hydrated, soothes it, and keeps it healthy.
Feeling: I don't really like it as it contains exfoliating particles, causing my skin to break out in acne after using it just once. It has a jelly-like gel texture with beads that burst when it's rubbed into the skin. Simply massage it in until fully absorbed. I've read online that it's moisturizing, anti-aging and it minimizes the appearance of pores, but I didn't experience the latter two effects. It's quite moisturizing though, so I think it's suitable for both oily and dry skin.
Have you used any of these products? How do you like it? Let me know😉

Youth To The People
A brand that I discovered in 2019, that I can’t get enough of!
I may have not tried a lot from this brand but the products I’ve incorporated into my routine are holy grail!
Kale + Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Superfood Cleanser is a must for me, this is my second bottle. The scent is earthy and green, it doesn’t strip my face and I feel so refreshed after using it!
Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner really has helped me with texture and just feels like it does something when I apply it. I will say, many complain that it leaves the face sticky but I don’t mind it at all. I use it at night before my skincare and by the end of it, the feeling has gone away.
Lastly, the Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist is the only product that I’m still unsure about. It’s pricey, $42 and I just feel like I have cheaper facial sprays that perform the same. I will say I’m gonna put it up for the rest of winter and whip it out when it gets warmer. I think it may come in handy for pool/ beach days!

A COMBO I LIVE BY
I get my dark circles genetically so there is really no way to get rid of them. Some days they are agreeable but most days they aren’t. I also struggle with my really red eyelids, so when I found these products they became a stable. I’ve tried other concealers but nothing truly hides them as well as I would like.
PRODUCTS IN PICTURES:
SEPHORA COLLECTION - Bright Future Color Correctors I love this because it cancels out the dark circles. It is really messy so I took off a star. I got in shade melon.
NARS - Soft Matte Complete Concealer I use this after the color corrector. It is full coverage and fully covers everywhere applied. I heard about this on TikTok and literally love it. I use shade light 2.6.
BECCA - Under Eye Brightening Corrector I also heard about this on TikTok and I only apply it on the inner part of my eye to give it a bright ring effect. It also hides any signs of my dark circles that show through.
OTHER PRODUCTS USED:
REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Perfect Canvas Clean Primer Use this before I apply my makeup and pat it in. Use 3 drops.
MAYBELLINE - TattooStudio Brow Tint Pen in shade 360 medium brown. Gives hairlike effect. I use to fill in my arch.
URBAN DECAY - All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray Jumbo & Travel Duo setting spray. Keeps my makeup on all day.

SKINCARE AND PRIMER??
After I used the MILK primer my skin broke out in a rash so I went back to Sephora and they offered me the REN Perfect Canvas Primer, I love it. it builds my skins strength while smoothing over pores and fine lines. It is a vegan product, cruelty-free, and is silicone free.
To use I use 3-4 drops and pat it into my skin after my moisturizer and SPF. I wear this when I don’t wear makeup also because my skin is sensitive and this primer helps build my skin strength.
This product is matte but doesn’t clog your pores. It is smooth on your skin and really holds onto my makeup (note: I don’t wear a lot of makeup usually just concealer, blush, and highlight). Though it is $45 it lasts for a long time and in my opinion the price is worth how long it lasts.

Love this exfoliator and it’s safe for FA 🤩
HERBIVORE - Prism 12% AHA + 3% BHA Exfoliating Glow Serum
I love this and use it about 2 times a week!! It says to use it more often but I have heard you should really only use an exfoliator max 3 times a week (it can dry out your skin if it’s used too often)!
Not only does this product not have any fungal acne triggers but it has ingredients that help to get rid of fungal acne such as:
- Willow bark
- Lemon Extract
I highly recommend this product or HERBIVORE - Prism 5% Exfoliating Glow Potion which is also fungal acne safe and has added hydrating ingredients 💃🏽
Clurr
Prism-tastic Serum
This Prism Glow Serum by Herbivore is so amazing feeling on the skin. Reduces the appearance of my pores and totally helps keep acne at bay. This serum is so light and nice on the skin. This serum also brightens my skin so much. It really has PRISM effects and I absolutely love it about this product. It’s so versatile for all types of skin for different purposes!!! At a full size price of $54 - this product really is worth the money for sure. A full size bottle would totally last a super long time. Or you can even get a smaller size in one of their sets... if your looking to try more of their skincare. That would be the way to go!!! HERBIVORE - Prism 5% Exfoliating Glow Potion

EIGHTH DAY Facial Tonic & Cleansing Gel
I’ve been wanting to talk about a few things I grabbed from EIGHTH DAY for a while. Developed by dermatologist Dr. Tony Nakhla EIGHTH DAY is a clean, upscale, paraben/sulfate/PEG and fragrance free line. I was originally drawn to the line as it uses stem cell proteins. During Black Friday I grabbed most the line and I’ll talk about the Facial Tonic & Cleansing Gel first. The eye cream review is next I promise. The packaging is all in pearly white plastic with rose gold metallic accents
.
The Facial Tonic is an acid toner. I actually really liked this one. It has a blend of lactic & glycolic acid (AHAs) with polyhydroxy acid (PHA) gluconolactone. PHAs are new generation less irritating acids that also have antioxidant benefits. This toner also has lentil extract (tightens and refines pores), cucumber extract (soothing), witch hazel (astringent, pore & inflammation reducing), sodium hyaluronate (hydrating), panthenol (soothing), ginger (antioxidant), frangipani (antioxidant, anti-inflammatory), green tea (antioxidant), orchid (anti-aging, antioxidant) & aloe (soothing)
.
This acid toner actually packs a punch. You can feel it tingle and warm up on the skin a bit. I don’t know the percentage of acids in this but it feels around 10% at least. It’s not harsh and I never felt like it was too much, but it was quite effective. I would definitely think about repurchasing this one as it’s well rounded and it was just really nice to use. I like to use my acid toners in the morning
.
The Cleansing Gel is the brands only cleanser. I’m not a huge cleansing gel fan though I do think they have their place in the shower. I tend to use them 3-4x a week in the morning only. It’s a nice gel cleanser. It’s not drying and feels gentle yet it cleans well. It’s got papain & bromelain enzymes for gentle exfoliation. This also has probiotics (quite a few actually compared to the normal one or two), ginger, frangipani, green tea, orchid & aloe. This one has a pH around 5.5 so it’s perfect in order to not mess with your skins natural barrier

If you don’t know it yet, bybi is one of my favorite brands out there. Just saying. their Swipe Clean and Babe Balm Bronze and I’ve used both of them a number times to have a few opinions!
Let’s start with the Swipe Clean—it’s a facial cleansing oil and make-up remover that only has less than 20 ingredients on it’s list. Filled with a combination of Moringa and Black Cumin oils which are both great antibacterial ingredients to help wipe away grime and make-up. First of all, I love the packaging on this—it’s a matte glass that feels absolutely heavy and sturdy, while the cap releases just the right amount of product so you can control how much you need so you don’t waste any. Unlike any of the other BYBI products this one smells the most natural, when massaged onto the face it feels like a light oil that turns into a silky milk texture once in contact with water. When I washed it off my skin felt great, nourished and not dry or stripped off.
Moving onto the Babe Balm Bronze, an summery upgrade from their Babe Balm—combines bronze mica powders for a balm highlighter that makes you look luminous and naturally glowy. I personally use the Babe Balm as a highlight so I was thrilled to try this and it did not disappoint. It’s just how I like my highlighter, very subtle but gives light to your face.

KRAVE BEAUTY
I tried The Beet Shield for the first time and I was experiencing an awful reaction. My entire face was itching the entire day and it was bad. It was so bad I had to wash my face about 3/4 into my day because I couldn’t stand it anymore. I was so sad that a product so many people loved seemed like it didn’t work for me. HOWEVER, today I used it again and I switched up the way I used it (warmed up the product between my fingers before applying) and I’m pleased to say that I’ve not experienced any itching at all!
I do like the cleanser. I don’t love it yet but I like it so far. It cleansed my face, didn’t feel stripping and left my skin feeling soft. I’d say it’s a pretty decent cleanser.
Krave-Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser
The most hygienic way to apply face masks...
a silicone brush! 🙌🏻
This is more like a spatula, you can dip into your face mask, slab it on and evenly coat your face with it. It is so much cleaner (and more fun!) than using your hands.
I 💜 the fact that it’s silicone, so it makes for easy cleanup with soap and water. 🧼💦
I’ve seen other actual brushes (similar to paint brushes) to apply masks and...
Hairs are porous so water will absorb into the brush along with bacteria etc.
There is no way you are getting those brushes as clean as a silicone brush, and definitely not as quickly
This brush by elf is seriously like $7 (Canadian) I believe, and I’ll never apply a face mask by hand again!
