Tour of what’s in my fridge
A skin care fridge is totally not a necessity but they are super fun to have. Things to consider before buying one is: does it fit in your budget, will it fit in your bathroom, what products will go in it? I got mine from Amazon where they range from $60-$150 cad but you can get them from tons of places. The way I use mine is to keep products cold for the experience (de puffing) and to extend their shelf life. Here’s a tour of what I currently keep in my skincare fridge. The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% This serum is great to keep cold as it ensures it is kept at a consistent temperature and in a dark place which helps with stability. The combination of ascorbic acid and alpha arbutin make for a great brightening and hyperpigmentation treatment. THE BODY SHOP - British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask This is a really nice hydrating and plumping face mask that gives a very spa like vibe. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I love to keep this oil cold as it increases the shelf life. This is a great hydrating oil that also helps acne and hyperpigmentation. THE BODY SHOP - Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask I love keeping this mask chilled as it helps depuff my face in the morning. This is a very nourishing mask that is also gently brightening. pixi - DetoxifEYE These are great cold as they really helps get rid of any puffiness from waking up. This pot holds 30 pairs which is great value from money. VERSED - LOOK ALIVE Hydrating Plumping Mask This is a great hydrating mask that really plumps my skin and helps when it is dehydrated. Keeping it cold makes the experience even more enjoyable. LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Mask This is a creamy sleeping mask that highlights cica which is a very soothing ingredient. Applying it cold makes the soothing power even more effective. LANEIGE - Lavender Water Sleeping Mask This is a gel mask that feels great when applied cold as it feels very soothing. The lavender scent can also be very relaxing. grace & stella - Rose quartz face roller I love doing an evening massage, it feels amazing if the tool is kept cold. It helps with lymphatic drainage and product absorption. 👜Sheet masks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love to keep all my sheet masks in the fridge as the experience of a chilled mask is very enjoyable.
SKINCARE SUNDAY SQUAD - 17/01/2021
I’ll be posting my “reviews of the week” every Sunday, starting today, so follow me to see more 💖 This week we have a small lineup from Pixi Beauty. pixi - 24K Eye Elixir I love almost everything about this eye serum... the roller ball helps to de-puff my eyes amazingly!! But I’ve only given this product 4 stars, because it does remain a little sticky for a while before sinking into my skin 🥺 pixi - DetoxifEYE These eye patches are one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITES!!! They help to de-puff and brighten my under eye area SO WELL!! I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say about this product 😍 pixi - On-the-Glow Unfortunately I am not a big fan of this “stick” moisturiser... I wanted to like this product, I really did. But all it does is leave me sticky and break me out 😭 Join me next Sunday for more weekly reviews!! 🙌🏼

my progress in the span of 3 years
This is my first post pls be gentle I am soff My experience and exposure to skincare was...odd growing up. I came from a poor family and was constantly switching between households. Consistent skincare routines did not exist for me, if we could afford it at all. I also had no idea what was going on with my face or why, just that I was being mocked and berated for it as though it was some sort of lack of hygeine or moral failing on my part. About 3 years ago, I started using a consistent skincare routine with more than just a face wash in the shower. Granted, it was whatever the cheapest face wash I could find at Safeway that week (likely biore or st. ives) and argan oil that I found at Marshall's. I had no idea what ingredients to look for or even what my skin type was. That first pic STILL marked a huge improvement for me and kicked off my desire to learn more to finally rectify this issue that had plagued me for more than a decade. The 2nd pic is from a few months ago. I kinda think I peaked there. I was using Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser in the shower. I have oily, sensitive skin (thanks eczema) and it's very gentle, not irritating in the slightest. However, it feels like all it does is clean my face. No real benefit apart from that. I was using pixi - Glow Tonic as a toner which I loved and gave me great results but rent is literally over half my monthly income and that doesn't touch all the other bills I have and at anywhere from $18-$24 a bottle? Well... I'd rather eat tbh. I also got over the "oily skin don't need moisturize hurr durr" mentality and began to use (still do, this jar has lasted me since like July) AVALON ORGANICS - Intense Defense, With Vitamin C, Oil-Free Moisturizer . Works fine, nice and light, absorbs pretty quickly, and I like the smell. I'd like something that qualifies as a night mask instead tho, just because my entire routine is done exclusively at night with extra moisturizer or treatments as necessary. 3rd pic is from about a month ago. I've changed up the roster a few times. I'm really feeling FORMULA 10.0.6 - One Deep Attraction Daily Foaming Face Wash as I used it years ago, liked it then for the suds and the actives, but haven't gotten much in the way of results. I might try the FORMULA 10.0.6 - Three Times Sublime 3-in-1 Blackhead Wash + Scrub + Maskand FORMULA 10.0.6 - P.M. Perfectorinstead of the moisturizer I use as mentioned above. I'm also alternating between Cos De BAHA - BHA Salicylic Acid 2% Exfoliant Liquid 4oz with Niacinamide Acne Spot Treatment + Redness Relief + Pore Minimizer + Pore Cleaner and The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% . The serum makes my skin incredibly soft and the suspension helps a bunch with oil control. If y'all have any comments, questions, or suggestions regarding my routine, I'd love to hear what y'all have to say!
How I Built an Entire Routine for Under $150
For a long time I was intimated by skincare because it seemed very expensive and overwhelming. How do I know what to buy 🤷🏻♀️ When I started noticing wrinkles that was enough of a push for me to invest in skincare. Here’s some great lessons I’ve learned to build your skincare routine affordably: 1. Research to figure out what you need- here’s where my love of @cheriestarted! I read lots of reviews, advice, so I knew what type of products I should buy and what ingredients I should focus on. 2. Keep it Simple It’s easy to want to buy new products, adding new steps or ingredients to your routine, or try out the hype after reading reviews! Focus on your concerns and add slowly to give your skin time to adjust and see what’s working. It’s better to have a few great products that you love than many products you don’t use. I started with: Cleanse AM antioxidant serum, PM anti-aging serum Moisturizer Sunscreen Toners, eye cream, facial oil, and masks can be extras if you are looking to save money 3. Spend your money on the middle - if you can only splurge on one product make it the serum! This has the most benefit. Drugstore cleansers, moisturizers, and spf are great! 4. Try some great affordable brands such as The Ordinary, The Inkey List, Versed, or CeraVe 5. Buy trial size first, Value Sets or better free rewards before investing in a new product 6. Once you’ve found your Holy Grails keep your eyes open for sales to stock up, join the brands mailing list or reward program, buy value size Here’s my current skincare line-up and how much it cost me: CLINIQUE - Jumbo Liquid Facial Soap Mild Use AM & PM Bought on sale for $27 for 13.5oz CLINIQUE - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Use PM Free from Clinique rewards pixi - Glow Tonic pixi - Milky Tonic Rotate PM Bought multi-pack on sale for $22 OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème Use AM and / or PM Bought on sale $25 The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Use AM $6.80 VERSED - STROKE OF BRILLIANCE Brightening Serum Use AM $26.99 OLAY - Wrinkle Correction Serum with Vitamin B3+ Collagen Peptides Use PM Bought on sale for $32 BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum Use PM 1-2 times per week Free from Sephora Rewards Bazaar CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator Use AM & PM Free gift with purchase from Clinique CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Instant Brightening Moisturizer Use PM when not using lactic acid Free offer with purchase from Sephora The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil Use PM $9.90 (Not pictured) currently using my kids Banana Boat Kids Simply Protect SPF 50 as my sunscreen

I am a huge skincare lover and love to try out ingredients and brands. Check out my collection and my favourite brands and products. Favourite brands: Versed: this is a brand that I have tried many products and they have worked well for me. This is a drug store brand that is mid range. Love this light hydrating mist 💚💚
Pixi is a great cruelty free brand that focuses on ethical products. Pixi has a large line with a variety of products, however I have found it is hit and miss about whether the products work for me. Price: Pixi products are wildly available in Canada and costs $20 for 1.7 oz Texture: A very light mist that settles well into my skin and boosts my skins hydration on those extra dry days. Effectiveness: This product contains oats which I find to be very soothing and hydrating. It also contains hyaluronic acids which is a great humectant. pixi - Hydrating Milky Mist I really enjoy this mist as it provides an extra layer of hydration.
Toner for dry skin - pixi glow tonic
If you have dry skin, this toner is perfect for you! It’s a gentle, non drying tonic that can be used daily. It gentle exfoliates the skin to reveal brighter, smoother complexion. It delivers great on the promises, and just after couple of uses I could see small changes in my skin. It’s gentle enough to be used daily, but if you’re not sure if your skin can handle it, totally start off with every other day, or even every few days. I have dry skin, and this toner never dried my skin out. It always left it feeling normal, not tight or dry. It’s also super affordable, which is amazing! pixi - Glow Tonic
KEY TO GLOWY SKIN 🤩 🌟✨
the pixi glow tonic is a toner with 5% glycolic acid. glycolic acid works to get rid of the dead skin cells on top of your skin to reveal brighter, glowing skin. WHAT SKIN TYPE IS THIS FOR? the pixi glow tonic is good for all skin types! there’s no alcohol in this toner making it great for people with dry/combination skin since it won’t dry out your skin. for those of you with sensitive skin, like me, i would use it only once a day either at night or in the morning. i personally use it at night so my skin is fresh in the morning. HOW DO I USE IT? depending on your skin type, the pixi glow tonic can be used two times a day, but i wouldn’t do more than two. for those with sensitive skin, once is good. after cleansing, apply the toner all over your face with a cotton round and make sure to put a little bit of pressure to get the outer dead skin cells. after that, apply your favorite moisturizer! ADDITIONAL NOTES <3 for me, the first time i used it my face was a little bit red, but as i used it more and more my skin got used to it. make sure to moisturize and cleanse day and/or night to get the best results! hopefully this was helpful and get your glowy skin asap!! pixi - Glow Tonic
The Exfoliating Product That Will Make Even The Dullest Skin Shine
Everyone knows exfoliation is the holy grail of glowy skin. You simply can’t glow without it. So why is it such a neglected part of our skincare routines? For me, it’s because I can never seem to find a good exfoliating product. A lot of facial “scrubs” are now banned due to them containing plastic particles (but this is great news for the environment!). Some exfoliating gels and lotions are just… scratchy. And don’t get me started on trying to make one at home - we’ve all been there with a bowl of sugar and olive oil. It’s not a pleasant experience. I’m super lucky in that I don’t have “problem skin”. I don’t get many blemishes, I don’t have oily or dry patches, my complexion is just… kinda dull. It doesn’t reflect light, it doesn’t shine in the sun. Then I discoveredpixi - Glow Tonic. This is effectively a toner powered by a magic ingredient: Glycolic Acid. It’s an AHA (chemical exfoliant) derived from sugarcane - natural ingredients are always a green light for me. Not a lot of products have really made my skin shine before, but the Glycolic Acid seems to do a brilliant job of cutting through dead skin cells to reveal shiny skin underneath. I’ve been using it for a month now and it really allows light and luminosity to bounce off the surface of my skin. Bonus - it also helps with fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating cell renewal. This is something mechanical exfoliation can’t do (unless you’re paying for a fancy microdermabrasion session). This is why chemical exfoliation wins every time for me. That and the fact my skin can be sensitive, so anything ‘mechanical’ is a bit too rigorous for me. The ingredients are supercharged so you only need to use it once a day. In the evening, I cleanse with a facial wash (and a cleansing wipe if I wore make-up that day). I rinse with warm water (not hot), and then use a cotton wool pad to sweep the Glow Tonic over my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin. I find my skin is generally less dry - this may be to do with the Ginseng and Aloe Vera, which are nourishing, so I would recommend this for anyone who usually avoids toners and AHA due to dryness. My skin feels really fresh and energised, and I noticed the difference in less than a week, especially when the sun’s shining.
Glow tonic toner
What is it: highly concentrated, exfoliating toner that deeply clean pores and leaves skin glowing. Formulated with 5% glycolic acid that gently wipes away impurities, while aloe Vera soothes and hydrates. Also infused red ginseng to protect and energize skin. What is claims: removes excess oils and impurities by gently exfoliating in one step for balanced, soothed, radiant and prepped skin for makeup application. my thoughts: this smells so nice and fresh, kind of like roses. after initially applying it, skin did look brighter. However, I felt a slight burning sensation and it felt almost sticky and left an oily residue on my skin, which I didn’t like. Since I have mostly oily skin, I think this would be better suited for somebody with dryer skin. I can definitely see it being hydrating and soothing, I just personally wouldn’t recommend for oily types. It is also alcohol free, which is a plus! Overall, I wouldn’t repurchase, but could definitely see this toner being beneficial for dry skin types who want hydration and a brighter complexion.
Amazing toner! I love pixi❤️
I really like this PIXI glow tonic! I tried the 100ml one and decided to get the full size product! I have been using it for almost 2 months. I did not see any different at firsh, but after one month I started to see a glowing effect on my skin. It's not whiten my skin tone but my dull skin looks brighter! Some people don't like the scent, but i think it smells nice and refreshing, like rose water. It does not smell like acidic or chemical smell. If I apply it with cotton pad and wipe the same area of my skin for few times, my skin would turn red.....so i would not recommend this to someone with sensitive skin.
PIXI TONIC Glow Tonic: This is the cornerstone of Pixi Skincare! It is gentle enough to use nightly and often leaves my skin with a nice tingle. It does not replace exfoliating serums such as Honeymoon Glow or TLC Framboos. But this is a nice supplement when you want to touch up your glow. Retinol Tonic: This is a great entry product to the world of retinol. The soothing jasmine flower gives this product a natural, pleasant scent. I like to use this tonic as a touch up when my skin needs a break from a heavy exfoliation or other powerhouse retinols. . Even though they are pictured together— don’t use them together! Ouch!

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
