My skin cabinet
Hey y’all This is my skin cabinet. As you can see it has a lot of samples from Ipsy and Sephora and only a few full sized products as I am new to skin care and I am trying out a lot of things to see what works for my skin. I wear a cpap mask and I have a hard time with pimples only under where I wear the mask. I am not acne prone but seem to get it only when I trap the oils. So far I love face masks and use them whenever I’m stressed out. The whole bottom shelf are different face masks I have tried and I have reviewed most on here. I am still learning about serums and oils so my middle row is a lot of products that will hydrate and moisturize my face. The top is mostly gentle cleansers. I rotate my use of these cleansers but my skin seems to love them all. My make up peg board is all tarte products that I bought full size. I love tarte because it matches my skin well and I don’t break out with continued use. I don’t wear make up a lot but still keep samples from Ipsy on the size in the buckets are lip samples, primer samples, and blushes. On the right in the cat vase are my brushes, mascaras, and liners. I am working through my samples right now and trying to see what I like so that hopefully in time I will buy full sized products for a routine that will work for my combination skin. I already know most acne geared skin care is too strong for my face and makes things worse. If anyone else has recommendations for maskne all would be appreciated.

Pubescent Teen Alert!
Hello! My name is Zoey and I need some help with finding a proper skincare routine. I’m a pubescent teen and my skin is getting pretty tough these days. From hairline acne to blackheads on my chin. I’m wondering if anyone can help me get started on this app? To be honest I’m not sure what I’m doing😅 The only acne related product I use is the CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion. I got it from my roommate and since then it’s worked decently. Is anybody able to give me some tips or suggestions? I have semi sensitive skin and I’d like to have control over my acne before it gets any worse. Thank you!😊
Does the Clinique Acne Solutions Cleanser work?
This is my THIRD bottle of the CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam 😂😂 Honestly, at first you don’t see results like almost any other skin care product. You HAVE to keep using it. PROS It instantly waters down your makeup if you use it as a makeup remover Leaves you feeling fresh and clean It has acne medication Your pimples will go away one way or another because it has a cycle soooooo honestly I feel that this product HELPS you NOT get acne (yeah it may get rid of that pimple in the middle of the forehead, but, at the same time, you don’t know if it was your skin the one that actually cleared it up or if it was the product) CONS You have to buy the CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion or the CLINIQUE - Clarifying Lotion 3 to get the BEST results. Which means you have to spend more. Because it’s a foaming cleanser, if you have a big face like me, you will use like around 6 pumps to clean your face. Which means the cleanser won’t last long.

Finding the right shade/coverage seasonally
Hi there, I’ve noticed like most people I’ve had a lot of trouble matching my foundation and finding coverage that works for my complexion (neutral undertones and freckles) so here’s a review on my newest finds. tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 I initially was very impressed with this product but I’ve noticed it’s very very light coverage which can either work great if it’s summertime & you need something lightweight, or if you need any type of coverage it’s basically not going to help in any way. AMAZING for dry skin. Ive been using this product alone all summer for my face. As New York has gotten cooler in the last two months and the sun has gotten less intense, I’ve been mixing it with the Maybelline Dream Cover to lighten it up. I don’t think that tarte has a very strong range of shades and found it difficult to color match for a neutral undertone. MAYBELLINE - Dream Urban Cover Foundation SPF 50 This is an amazing foundation mixed with a BB/CC cream or just by itself. It has anti-pollution protection and an amazingly strong SPF of 50. This is not a buildable coverage foundation, very liquidy, but stays put with a nice natural finish like the BB cream. This foundation matches my undertones closer than any other. L'ORÉAL - Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation This works better when you need more coverage, it will stay the majority of the day but not more than 10-12 hours. I have unfortunately stopped using this foundation, as it is too cakey for my liking. I recommend a mist beforehand or a wet applicator. Color matches nicely but not as close as the Maybelline. 1st picture on each layout is me with no makeup. 1st comparison is with Maybelline foundation and the 2nd is with the tarte BB cream. The L’oréal makeup was never too complimentary on me so I have little to no pictures for that comparison.
Zoom Meeting Look!
As one of the only women in a lot of my workplace meetings, I always want to make sure I look very presentable and professional (from the waist up 🤣) in addition to having my materials prepared. It’s just something that helps me feel like I’m 100% on my game! This is a similar look I would do for if and when work is ever normal and I had an important meeting as well. Your appearance is the way you present yourself to the world, and doing my makeup nicely is the way I like to be presented, though it is by no means necessary to be a professional woman! Makeup is just my way to be creative with my appearance. It’s fun! tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 NARS - Radiant Creamy Concealer tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush BECCA - Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter Too Faced - White Peach Eye Shadow Palette SEPHORA COLLECTION - Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner NARS - Climax Mascara SEPHORA COLLECTION - Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick tarte - Sea H2O Lip Gloss

Help! I don’t know my skin’s undertone!
Hi! I cannot, for the life of me, determine the undertone of my skin. I have gone my whole life thinking I was a cool/pink undertone, but recently went to both Sephora and Mecca to get colour matched (I was not wearing any self-tan, make up or creams) and they both matched me with neutral and yellow undertones! I have attached my current foundation (nars sheer glow) with the three foundations they recommended. I have posted pictures of swatches of the foundations they chose, as well as 2 pictures of my face (without makeup) and a couple of my wrist, so that you can see the colour of my veins (apparently that helps lol). Please, if you think you know what undertone I am, help me out! Thanks 💓
Exfoliator & mask routine
TRADER JOE'S - Blueberry and Acai Facial Scrub AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay After reading @MakeupgeekMartina‘s post about how to get rid of black heads, she talked about exfoliating and then using a clay mask. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be too harsh for my skin to do both as I was exfoliating one day then the next day, using a clay mask. But I felt like my skin would still break out. But I decided to test her method of doing them sequentially and it went great! I used these products and I have sensitive skin and my face didn’t over react. I followed up with a collagen sheet mask to soothe and moisturize it and then my usual PM skin care routine.
🥺 this scrub DID NOT work for me 🥺
I have SUPER DRY skin and recently figured out I have perioral dermatitis (inflammation around mouth and nose) 💔 My poor chin did NOT like this product! Which is so sad because EVERYONE online loves it! 🙁 It felt like it was burning after I started to apply/ lightly emulsify it on my face. The first time I thought maybe I scrubbed too hard but I used it a second time with a lighter scrubbing.. Same thing happened..❌ 🚫The skin around my nose and mouth were VERY inflamed the next day and the rest of my face seemed red which isn’t normal for me! 🚫 Now flash forward to these pictures, I applied it on my hand and did not scrub at all...👀 A similar reaction happened, my hand started to itch! SO, maybe I am allergic to this product, we will never know since I will not be using again! I have bought a few beauty items from Trader Joe’s over the years and they have been wonderful! I truly think I am allergic to this product! 😫 Lmk in the comments if you had a similar experience or if you agree I’m probably allergic 💔 #cheriecreator #facescrub #traderjoes TRADER JOE'S - Blueberry and Acai Facial Scrub

Vitamin C Recommendations 🍊
I have learnt a lot over the past few months since joining cherie and am taking my skin more seriously now that I’m 30. I learnt my skin barrier had seriously been compromised, and I may actually not be as sensitive as I thought. I learnt that my skin most likely isn’t dry but actually dehydrated!! What a learning curve that was! Always, ALWAYS, research the best way to use products before using them. Search the product you are interested in on this app and go through the reviews and see what has worked and what hasn’t. Saves you a lot of trial and error! And disappointment! Always start slow with a new product! Go once a week for two weeks and then build up by adding one more day each week. This helps your skin adjust and figure out what works for you. If you flick through the photos above, you will see before and after photos of both sides of my face. Although it looks better, I still have a fair way to go. My routine as of October 13, 2020: MORNING I don’t use a cleanser to wash my face, I wash with water and then follow with The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I apply this directly to my wet face after rinsing it. I continue massaging until I feel my skin is getting dry but still slightly damp. While my face is still slightly damp I apply SEPHORA COLLECTION - Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff and The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and then wait about 5 minutes before applying PAULA'S CHOICE - Calm Mineral Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 NIGHT I have, in the last week, jumped back onto the double cleanse bandwagon as it is getting warmer in the Southern Hemisphere now and I tend to get hot and sweaty-ish (especially when running around after a toddler all day). I use The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser massage this is for a few minutes, when I feel it start to loosen up I add in water and rinse it off. If my skin is feeling particularly dehydrated I skip the first cleanse and go straight to CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin Again, I leave my face wet and massage in The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 while my skin is still slightly damp I put on SEPHORA COLLECTION - Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff and PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster This has really helped calm down my irritated skin and helped smooth out some bumps. I then pat on about 6 drops of The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane and after 5 minutes apply The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA I am looking to add in a vitamin c product. I might be slightly sensitive to vitamin c, so please recommend products that are low in concentration and good for sensitive skin 😘😘
“Build Me Up Buttercup”
My skincare journey has been rough the past few years (check first post made for details but basically I have sensitive, reactive skin) and I have finally found something that works thanks to this app and all the wonderful people on here. I have done lots of reading and learning!! I am wanting to extend my routine; add an eye cream for dark circles in the AM and maybe a vitamin c - am looking at The Ordinary - Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%as I have had bad experiences with vitamin c previously and want to go slow. And maybe THE inkey LIST - Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Gentle Exfoliating Toner I have noticed that my face doesn’t like niacinamide either. Both CeraVe AM and PM creams contain this and my skin reacted, as well as with another brand I used that contained it. Please help, any and all suggestions/helpful hints welcome 😊 This is my current routine. I have reviewed these products in previous posts. AM CLEANSE: Water SERUM: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 makes the skin feel so soft and supple. A great base! EYE CREAM: SEPHORA COLLECTION - Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff I have come back to this after a long and painful journey with eye creams. Great for hydration and fine lines but would still like an eye cream to use in the AM that helps with dark circles. MOISTURISE: The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA have just recently started using this as my DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Cream is finished. Loving it so far. Not as heavy as the DE cream but perfect for going into the warmer months ahead. SUNSCREEN: PAULA'S CHOICE - Calm Mineral Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 this has really helped with reducing the redness i get on my cheeks. PM CLEANSE: CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin feels so great and leaves the skin feeling hydrated well after use! Previous cleansers always left me feeling tight immediately after use. I can now wash my face at the beginning of a shower and it stays hydrated till I get out (although I still prefer as my last step) EYE CREAM: SEPHORA COLLECTION - Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff MOISTURISE: The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA SEAL THE DEAL: The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane I was using this before the DE cream and have recently learned that it is meant to go last to seal everything in. I use about 4-5 drops and pat it across my face. Twice a week (Sun & Wed), after the eye cream, I use The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 and then PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster I am finding that it has helped reduce the redness across my cheeks. It has only been 2 weeks of using this so too early to review this product.
Noxzema cleared my acne!
For the past four months or so I’ve been suffering from severe breakouts on my forehead, nose, and chin. No matter what I tried they would never clear up. I had blackheads and white heads galore, normal pimples, and deep cystic pimples that hurt like crazy. I finally got fed up with buying expensive acne clearing products and decided to try something simple. Bring in NOXZEMA - Classic Clean Moisturizing Cleansing Cream The first face picture is after 1 week using the face wash. Most of my surface level pimples and blackheads were gone and only the cystic acne remained. The second face picture is after 2.5 weeks of using the face wash, pretty much all of my acne was gone save some discolouration and a few new blackheads and small pimples. The final face picture is after 1 month - my skin is crystal clear, I have some slight scarring on my forehead (which also looks less pronounced than it once did) but otherwise no breakouts!! It’s also done wonders for my dry flaky skin! I HIGHLY recommend.
Did someone say POSE?
Did a at home photoshoot and even attempted to do my make up. After wearing a full face of makeup you should always make sure to wash your face!!! After I took my pictures I used Noxzema and let that sit for about 5 mins. Wash it off and then used a second wash of Dr.Bronners peppermint soap. After washing your face you should always moisturize. DON’T FORGET TO CLEAN THISE NECKS!!💖NOXZEMA - Classic Clean Moisturizing Cleansing Cream DR. BRONNER'S - Peppermint Pure-Castile Liquid Soap I do not recommend doing this routine everyday bc it can be drying!!
Diamond Peel-off mask
I am so new to face mask world. But I got this in my ipsy bag and tried it out with my boyfriend. we both loved how soft and smooth our skin came out. I noticed how much smaller his pores were after. it was a very easy mask too. thick even layer for 20-30mins and peel. I was soo nervous to peel as I have seen some scary videos. my bf was really scared since he has facial hair. but to our surprise it didn't stick and it pull on the hair. he couldn't stop touching his face and saying oooooo all night. I definitely will use this again. I'm sorry but I'm not really sure how much it is since I got it in my glam bag like I said. I'm pretty lucky to have a bf to try this stuff out with me... this is my first time writhing about a product and I hope I did it right for everyone..
I'd rather get coal than 🗿

Altering using it, this product is heavy, greasy, sticky, feels like it is clogging my pores, and does not seem to "dry". When used at night it rubs off on my pillow. It also had a very strong smell to it. Setting power I can’t live without
Setting powder is one of last steps and final touches with my makeup Routine that I just can’t live without. It makes My face truly looks flawless. tarte - Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Setting Powder This is my favorite setting powered. It is so silky and soft, it makes your face feels like you have nothing on at all. It doesn’t settle in pores or wrinkles or cake like some powders. It doesn’t dry out or look white it blends with your foundation perfectly, Also it helps keep your makeup that fresh & flawless look throughout the day and night. I Give this product 5/5 and recommend this to anybody even if you have sensitive skin or rosacea it works great. It’s $34 but it last a long time I have had mine for 6 months.

A Not-So-Holy Grail
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Cream I had used almost an entire container of this before I gave up and found a new moisturizer. I found that I had to apply it 5 times a day to avoid having my skin feel like it wasn’t cracking. I tried using it with rosehip oil (grease city) and DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum which is one of the worst products I have ever used. I felt oily and sticky and I started breaking out badly. I appreciate Drunk Elephant’s commitment to ‘clean products’ and the environment but I have yet to use a product from their line (I also tried DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum which buuuurned) that did anything but harm my skin. I have very reactive skin and I thought this line was made for me. In fact, it was most definitely not made for me. (If you are curious, I now use onekind - Dream Cream Nighttime Moisturizer as my night cream. 2/3rds of the cost and four times the results.) I am baffled by DE’s positive reputation. What has your experience been?
Onekind Dream Cream 🌙
onekind - Dream Cream Nighttime Moisturizer Onekind Dream Cream Nightime Moisturizer has become a quick favorite of mine. The cream is rich yet light, sinks in almost instantly yet still provides enough time for a little massage and in the morning my skin was left glowy, dewy, soft and hydrated. It sits at a 4.6 pH and is non-irritating, clinically and allergy tested. This product was great for my combination skin and left my dry cheeks bouncy and moisturized. My t-zone was balanced and even looked a bit matte 😱 Some key ingredients: Squalane-to lock in lasting moisture Rosehip oil-brightens and fights signs of aging Chamomile, aloe Vera and barley seed- soothe irritation Includes numerous oils: rosehip, sunflower, sesame, olive, coffee seed, sweet almond, lavender, palmarosa, Moroccan chamomile, geranium, chamomile and rose. Summer 🏝 to Fall Skin Care Switch Up! 🍁
Hey Babes! As we transition from summer to fall, make sure your skin care routine changes too. ⠀ In the fall, as the weather changes, so will your skin care routine. Fall months are colder and less humid, so you need to adjust your skin care regimen accordingly. ⠀ Change your cleanser to more of a creamy or hydrating base. The air is already going to dry your skin out, so avoid using foam cleaners that strip your skin or even gel cleaners that are water based. ⠀ Opt in for using a rich moisturizer so your skin can lock in oils to keep your barrier protected. Ingredients like glycerin and ceramides are always winners. If you need barrier protection, turn to Vaseline or Aquaphor. ⠀ Do not exfoliate as often. You’re still going to exfoliate weekly, but the dryer climate can strip your skin making it sensitized and exfoliating too often will make it worse. ⠀ Add an extra serum into your routine. Hyaluronic acid, retinol and vitamin c are always winners! ⠀ As always, don’t skip the SPF! UV stays are still present and you do not want to age faster. Skin care is all about preventative maintenance. :) #cheriepartner #summertofall
How I Dealt with My Acne 🙌🏻
A different kind of post today. I want to talk about how I dealt with my acne and why I think I don’t get it very often anymore ⭐️ This photo is me, today, without any makeup on. My skin isn’t perfect: I still have little bumps and very noticeable pores and textures. But compared to before, it’s improved so much and I’m happy with it. So here’s my take on it: 1) I believe acne has something to do with genetics and age (hormone level changes). My parents both have oily skin and had acne when they were young. They still have occasional pimple even now. So I don’t expect I can be acne free. My acne was the worst when I was in middle and high school and started to get significantly better since I turned 20. So here’s that factor. Acne also has a lot to do with what we eat, our sleep, our environment, our stress, our menstruations, etc, especially cystic acne. So that’s also something we can look into. 2) Don’t pick your pimples if it’s not like dry and 80% healed. That was my lesson. I still have some scars on the side of my face. 3) Treatment: small pimples can be a skin or follicle inflammation. if you have more oily skin like me, you are unfortunately more prone to acne because sebum can cause that. for these kind of small bumps I use a salicylic acid spot treatment such as CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gelor Murad - Rapid Relief Acne Spot Treatment. I alternate between these two. large, painful acne, or cystic acne, has more to do with hormones. if it’s really bad you should definitely see a doctor. I fortunately never got too many of these. but when I do, I have a process: if I feel it coming out, I use a salicylic acid spot treatment mentioned above to see if I can get it down before it even pops out. if it’s out and red, I use a sulfur drying lotion such as Kate Somerville - EradiKate Acne Treatmentor MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotionuntil it has a whitehead and is dried out. once it’s dry, you can actually pick it out with clean hands. then I immediately put an acne sticker/patch on it. the sticker will suck it flat and from then I go back to salicylic acid until it is fully gone. using acid every night all over my face definitely helps me stabilize my skin. you can choose aha or bha or whatever acid mostly suited for your skin type and condition. I also use a more intense acid treatment mask every week. changes in locations, changes in weathers, changes in our moods, our bodies. a lot of things can trigger acne. sometimes our skin really just freaks out and if we give it a bit time and be patient, it can heal itself. 4) After all, skin is our first barrier and protection against the outside environment and it fights for us so hard. All skins are good skins. 😇 Hope this post can help!
pm routine 🌙
1. DERMA•E - Universal Cleansing Balm This cleansing balm is good for removing makeup and is very hydrating but after using it for about 2-3 weeks daily, I didn’t notice that it was doing anything special. Now, I only use this product on the days I wear makeup. 2. Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser At night time I like to use this water-based calming cleanser to calm and soothe my skin before going to bed. It contains citric acid which has exfoliating properties. So far so good with this cleanser. 3. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This peeling solution is fairly new to my night time routine. I just purchased this last week, so I’ve only used this twice, so I didn’t give it a rating because I want to give it a few more tries before I form a full opinion about it. I will say, I was a little skeptical to try it at first because I heard that it burns very bad, especially for the first use however, I don’t think that the “burning” was unbearable. To me, it felt more itchy. I only use this twice a week, per the directions on the bottle. *rinse well* 4. THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Mist I’ve been using this toner for about 3 months now because I wanted to try witch hazel for its anti-inflammatory and pore shrinking properties. Cherie has turned into my skincare bible lately, so I take what you guys say very seriously. With that being said, I’ve read about how witch hazel may not be the best for the skin with everyday use. I do like the way my face feels after applying this, but I am planning on switching up my toner in hopes for better results. 5. OLAY - Regenerist Retinol24 Night Facial Serum I first want to say that I don’t use this serum on the nights I use The Ordinary peeling solution. While in Ulta one day, I spent about 20 minutes debating between this retinol serum and another one from a different brand, and let me say, I’m pretty pleased with my decision. This serum is not too thick and doesn’t leave my face feeling greasy/oily. I am only 20 so I’m not fighting with wrinkles or sagging at the moment, but it’s never too early to include retinoids into your routine. :) 6. OLAY - Total Effects Night Firming Cream I’ve always used an Olay night cream, but recently switched to this particular one about a month ago. It claims to even skin tone and also firm, smooth, and brighten skin. Like the retinol serum, this moisturizer is very light and gentle, not too oily. It is also very hydrating. In combination with my other products, I would say that this has helped even out my skin tone since the start of my skin care journey. 7. Murad - Rapid Relief Acne Spot Treatment I’ve tried many spot treatments but this is by far the best one. It is a little drying, but that is to be expected. It’s a miracle worker!! By the next morning, the blemish is basically gone!
my favorite masks!
I really love trying new masks it’s such a fun experience & feels like you’re treating yourself to some ‘me-time’. Below are my favorite masks that I’ve tried! (most I’ve gotten from ipsy glam bags). 🧖🏻♀️ dr botanicals - Apothecary Cocoa and Coconut Superfood Reviving Hydrating Mask This is an overnight mask so you leave it on while you sleep, it works like a moisturizer except you’re only recommended to use it 2-3 times a week. I really like this mask, I’ve used it when I feel like I need that extra hydration for my skin. I gave it four stars only b/c it’s a bit sticky. I like to use this in conjunction w/ my moisturizer for that extra hydration. TONYMOLY - I'm Honey Deep Moisture Rescue Mask First of all the packaging is adorable. This is a mask that’s meant to give your skin that deep moisture, it has honey + propolis which are very beneficial for the skin, especially dry skin. I’ve noticed my skin really loves propolis so I continue to use this mask. Whenever I use this mask my skin has more of a glow after! GENERATION CLAY - Ultra Violet Brightening Purple Clay Mask I was a bit hesitant to use this mask b/c it’s one of those “the tingling means its working!” type of masks. I can say that when I’ve used it there is a tingling feeling but nothing too extreme it doesn’t leave my skin red or dry at all! When you apply the mask it’s purple & then transforms to a grey color as you wait the 15 minutes before you wash it off. I love to use this as a spot treatment overnight, it really minimizes a stubborn pimple the next day. VERSED - LOOK ALIVE Hydrating Plumping Mask I recently purchased & posted this mask on here so I was really excited to use it. I absolutely love this mask. It does exactly what it says it’s supposed to which is hydrate + plump the skin. When I wash off the mask my skin instantly feels hydrated & A LOT more plump. This is definitely in my top three of masks I’ve tried! I 100% recommend it b/c it’s not super harsh on the skin & there’s no tingle which you normally find in products that are meant to plump the skin/lips. FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask When I use a mask it’s for the benefits & partially the experience. However, I don’t mind that this one isn’t as flashy as the other masks b/c it gives your skin the benefits it says it will. I use this when my skin is being problematic. It really heals my skin which I appreciate. I recommend this for people with problem skin! hey HONEY - SHOW YOUR GLOW Colloidal Gold & Honey Beauty Mask This is one of those masks that your’re gonna take selfies while you have it on b/c of the gold pigment, which gives a luxurious feel. I love this b/c it makes my skin more glowy + it’s a great alternative to cute & flashy but damaging peel-off masks.

NIACINAMIDE: Trendy Fad or True Love?
We have all seen the rise of niacinamide in skincare marketing over the last year. So, what the HECK is Niacinamide? What’s it good for? Well, niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 that works with your skin’s natural composition to minimize the appearance of pores, improve uneven skin tone, soften fine lines and wrinkles, and strengthen your skin barrier. It’s a water soluble ingredient so it can pretty easily be added into an existing formula as an additional benefit. You’ll see niacinamide in some anti-aging products, but recently we are seeing niacinamide in a lot of acne-fighting and acne-preventive ingredients. Since niacinamide helps your pores, it can help reduce and heal acne breakouts. Niacinamide can be really powerful when combined with other exfoliating and/or acne fighting ingredients (sensitive skin beware!), but you should never mix niacinamide with vitamin c—their chemical makeup renders each other inactive/useless when combined. Let’s get into some niacinamide products and my thoughts on each: iNNBEAUTY PROJECT - Down To Tone Resurfacing Toner Exfoliating Toner I’m rating this formula a 3/5. Acid toners aren’t my favorite as someone with sensitive skin, and this formula includes AHAs, BHAs, Niacinamide, as well as a ton of other ingredients. InnBeauty Project touts this as a P50 dupe and they so say on the bottle to only use this 3 times a week. It’s just too much for my sensitive skin I think. It’s also $26 for 3.4oz so it won’t last more than a month or so with consistent use. I just think there are better options out there. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster this one is FIREEEE. Like. Non ironically. This product has become one of my holy grails in the past year because of its ability to mix into my serums and moisturizers without issue. It’s a 10% niacinamide formula without anything else to really give you the true benefit without overdoing it in your routine. It’s kind of pricey ($44 for .67oz) but you only need 1-2 drops of it and my partner and I have been using it consistently for 6+ months and we still have some left in our bottle! I highly recommend this to oily and/or acne prone skin types. SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask I’ve talked about this product before—how it’s incorrectly marketed as a hydrating mask when the first few ingredients are “polishing.” Niacinamide being one of them! It’s my favorite “bright and tight” overnight mask and I’d recommend trying a sample or mini size before investing in a full size. I’m on my second tube and I use it 2-3 times a week strictly as an overnight mask. 5/5 (even though it’s $48) SUNDAY RILEY - Saturn Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask this one is my lesser known favorite. The sulfuric component helps get rid of painful acne while niacinamide helps keep it away. It’s pretty expensive ($55 for 2oz) but has an 18 month shelf life. I use this 1-2x monthly. 5/5 #CheriePartner
Sunday Riley Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask
This mask claims to clear up blemishes and prevent new breakouts. ❗️Note the packaging and title of this product have changed since I purchased this, but the claims and ingredients are very similar. Now it’s titled “spot treatment” instead of “treatment mask”.❗️ 🗝Key Ingredients🗝 Sulfur helps to dry up acne. It has also been shown to kill bacteria, reduce inflammation, and help exfoliate the skin. Sulfur is more gentle than some other acne fighters like benzoyl peroxide, so this can be a good alternative for more sensitive skin types. Niacinamide can treat many skin conditions. It strengthens the skin barrier, reduces signs of aging, brightens the skin, and can help prevent clogged pores. Zinc PCA helps to control oil production. It also has skin conditioning and antibacterial properties. Bentonite clay soaks up excess oil and has been shown to be wound healing. Manuka oil has strong anti bacterial and antioxidant properties. This oil is also soothing and can help fight inflammation. Tea tree oil is an essential oil that has antibacterial, anti fungal, anti microbial, anti septic... all the ‘anti’s’! I typically avoid essential oil and fragrance in my skin care, but this is one essential oil that I’m not allergic to (and I’m grateful for that). Contains other beneficial plant extracts. 🌱 No synthetic fragrance. ✅ Vegan and cruelty free. 🐒 The smell of this mask is quite strong. Sulfur smells like rotten eggs, and tea tree has a strong scent as well. Both are very noticeable in this mask. However, if you can move past that, this is an excellent product. I have used this quite a few times and my skin always looks and feels so clean and fresh when I rinse it off, but never too dry. I notice a lot of acne fighting and clay masks can be quite drying and irritating on my sensitive skin but I don’t get that reaction with this product at all. I recently used this on a new nodule and I woke up to a smaller, less inflamed spot. The anti inflammation properties of this mask are undeniable! I see this being helpful for the ‘maskne’ many people are struggling with right now. Happy healing, friends!🌻
HOW TO APPLY THE CONCEALER: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE
That a concealer is simply a concealer? Not at all! Sure, the main function of the concealer is that, but it's got a trick! To be really expert in makeup you have to have this product super controlled: know how to apply the concealer, choose the perfect one for you, know other functions that you can give to enhance your makeup to the maximum... Ready to erase all your imperfections and enhance your makeup to the fullest? Let's go! Moisturize before makeup Although it may sound redundant, the skin should be hydrated before the concealer is applied, much more so when it comes to the eye area. The sensitivity of this skin needs a previous eye contour that hydrates and protects the area. If you resort to a fluid concealer, you can apply it with slight taps forming an inverted triangle. Even if you want to hide the dark circle, you don't have to follow its shape as it will be more visible and the eye will appear drooping. By drawing the triangle, the opposite effect is achieved, highlighting the gaze and illuminating the face by encompassing a larger surface area. You can play with the shape of the triangle, creating an isosceles to tear the eye further and clean, in case you wear it, the cat eye. The first photo I show you the diferent effect the shape of your concealer can make in your face. We can see an ilumated undereye tan elongates the face in the third photo. In this one on the other hand, we can see a lifting effect on my face because of how i applied and blended my concealer. You have to know the shape of your face to know what will look the best in you. There is not a universal way to apply makeup. Each one of us has to know what is convenient and what not. Liquid correctors have less pigmentation than cream correctors so when buying yours, first think about which area you need it for and how you're going to use it. In addition to dark circles, we also use the concealer to camouflage pimples. Before covering with layers and layers of product and not letting the skin breathe, the pimple must be treated. The concealer can also be used as an illuminator, as long as the product is suitable and applied in the appropriate areas. In addition to the inverted triangle under the eyes, the septum of the nose and the center of the forehead are the main natural light. Fluid correctors are the easiest to use when lighting, but their key is in the way they are blended No dragging, just light touches. My favourite concealer is the shape tape by tarte. But you have to be careful because its a very drying concealer. So if your skin is dry, you better use another one, like the one from too faced, born this way. There is a concealer that I really dont like, born this way by too faced. Take into account that i dont like it beacuse it dindt work FOR ME. That doesn't mean its a bad concealer and that it wont work for you. I don't like the concealer from morphe, either. It's weird because i really love their foundation. But the concealer just didnt work form me. Its tacky and i dont like the coverage. Know your face, your skin type, and what your desired effect is and you will have the most flawless look using your concealer!

My go to makeup products for almost every look
e.l.f. - e.l.f. Contour Palette MORPHE - Glamabronze Face & Body Bronzer NYX - Holographic Halo Finishing Powder L'ORÉAL - Hydra Perfecte Perfecting Loose Face Powder I don’t really have a con for elf and morphe products, but I do have a con for the NYX Halo powder and the L’ORÉAL face powder. For the nyx halo powder, since it’s a highlighter it does leave behind some behind when you remove it and it gets everywhere when you apply as well. And the L’Oréal face powder it’s a good setting powder, but it does have a small amount of flashback. tarte - Shape Tape Stay Spray Vegan Setting Spray pixi - Glow Mist Milk MAKEUP - Hydro Grip Primer I love all three products. The hydro grip primer hype is really and I didn’t believe it until I started using it. Charlotte Tilbury - Magic Foundation Flawless Long-Lasting Coverage SPF15 COLOURPOP - No Filter Matte Concealer tarte - Shape Tape Concealer All these products are good, the Charlotte Tilbury foundation is medium coverage and it is buildable and it’s one of the best formulations I’ve tried so far. The Colourpop and tarte concealer are very amazing concealer. They both are high coverage concealers, but they do cake up/crease easily so you got to set it real good to not have it move around. JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS - Thirsty Eyeshadow Palette the Balm cosmetics - Alternative Rock Vol. 1 -- Face Palette #Lunarskies Cosmetics - Eyeshadow palettes[products]#[FiveStars] I do like Jeffree’s formula even though he has done handful of things, but the pigment and formula is there in all of his products. The Balm Eyeshadow and Face palette is my go to for the natural everyday glam look. Let me tell you something about Lunarskies Cosmetics eyeshadow palettes. They are the best small cosmetics business I have tried and invested my money in and their palettes are to die for. JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS - Velour Liquid Lipstick JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS - JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS The Gloss DOSE OF COLORS - Two Moods Lipstick Duo COLOURPOP - Big Box of Lippie Stix COLOURPOP - Lippie Pencil I love all these products, but my only issue, and it’s a thing with all matte liquid lipsticks, is that they are slightly drying, but you can easily fix that with some lip balm before hand. COLOURPOP - Colour Outside the Eyeliner Kit COLOURPOP - Limited Edition Star Crossed Colours Crème Gel Liner Vault Beauty Creations - 3D Silk Lashes tarte - Maneater Mascara thrive causemetics - Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara™ I don’t have an issue with these products. I love them all.
IT Cosmetic Oil Free Primer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
During this quarantine I have been trying so many primers to find the best one for my face because I have been struggling with finding one that helps decrease the look of oil on my face and makes my makeup stay. I got a sample of IT Cosmetics oil free primer and loved it so much I bought three full size primers off their website. I got it on sale for $29 and the normal price is $39–& it’s still on sale plus they’re having a 20% off everything right now on their website. If you have oily skin this will seriously make your makeup look flawless, help your makeup stay on longer (with other primers my makeup would always melt off within a couple hours), and it helps manage the oil. I can’t say enough good things about this primer 😍 it Cosmetics - Your Skin But Better Makeup Primer+ I also recently discovered Tartes Stay Spray 💕 IT Cosmetics primer + Tartes Stay Spray is the best duo. These two products have helped my makeup stay on much longer and has decreased the oil on my face. I got a sample and I will be purchasing the full size which is $25. tarte - Shape Tape Stay Spray Vegan Setting Spray
I used new items and decided to post on insta!! (@jenna.e.brewer 😉) Let’s see how they all did 🙃 ⭐️VDL - Lumilayer Primer IM IN LOVE! from ipsy, so i didn’t know what to expect. but it gives a purple tinted glow, and i’m obsessed! i decided to not wear foundation today, and it still looked amazing! would i recommend? YES 👜 ⭐️MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Concealer OH MY GOD IM ADDICTED!!! i this is literally a blessing from above. blends seamlessly and covers up everything i need it to. what could i ask more of it! would i recommend? YES 👜 ⭐️tarte - Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder This is great, but when i used the front flash, it gave a tiny bit of flashback. super mattifying and makes concealer and skin look smooth, but be careful with how much you use. would i recommend? maybe try a travel size first to see if it works for you 🤷♀️ ⭐️Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color Another favorite of mine. you can’t go wrong with it. buildable, natural, and not shiny like other blushes i’ve tried. i was skeptical because it is a cream blush, but i love it! would i recommend? YES 👜 ⭐️eyeko - Lash Alert Caffeine Curl Mascara Made my lashes look amazing, but felt a bit drying on my lashes. other than that, it’s good for top lashes. not as good for bottom lashes because of the wand would i recommend? no 🗑 ⭐️Glossier. - Boy Brow Love everything about this but the color. it’s a little darker than my brows, so i have to put a powder over then to make it look more natural. also, you’ll need an extra spoolie to brush this product through your brows. would i recommend? yes 👜 ⭐️Glossier. - Glossier. Lip Gloss love how glossy this is, and it’s not super sticky! nothing else i need from a gloss! would i recommend? YES 👜 ⭐️MAYBELLINE - FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter Super blinding and looks great on tons of different skin tones! i had to be careful over problem areas because it makes them stand out a lot, but it’s a highlighter. what can you expect. would i recommend? yes 👜
The worst setting powder ever!
Hello everyone, I hope everyone's having a great year so far. I know with all these “parties” coming up everyone is looking or wanting a new powder that will last all night well I here I am to help you. I personally like finding that new product that makes the makeup look 10x better and sometimes when you try a new product it can make you look bad. I am so sad it sit here and say that this review might not be what you think it might be. Okay, I am kinda nervous to talk about this product because I know alot of people love this product but I did not. My family and I went to ulta one night and they had recommended tarte setting powder to my family member and I just remember sitting there laughing because I had never tried it but at the same time I had read so many different reviews about it and they weren't good. So I decided to buy one and try it.... which was a big mistake. Okay let me say I will have some positive things to say about this product so it's not all bad. Alright, when I had first tried the product I thought it was great, but its only good during the day, and if you want to look like a vampire. When I say its only good for during the day I mean that! It has a BAD FLASHBACK. I wanted to scream, Another thing is the fact that if you use it to bake it doesn't whip away at all. I mean it leaves powder behind and doesn't really spread around. I really wanted this to be so good, since this is $33.00 American Dollars. I mean, I am not going to lie I rather spend $12 on a good drug store powder. So with saying that, I do not like this setting powder and I wouldn't ever recommend it and I am not sure why the ladies at Ulta recommended it to us.
fresh - Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash This is a lovely gentle cleanser that leaves your skin feeling clean but it’s a bit moisture stripping. I prefer something that leaves my skin glowing. It has a very nice scent that’s natural and not overbearing.
Here is some fresh to freshen up
Feeling so blah today so needed some fresh to freshenup 😌 Here are some of my freshfaves： Soy cleansing milk 🥛- a cream-textured cleanser that nourishes the skin with amino-acid rich soy proteins and aoftwns with hibiscuz flower extract. I would the consumer who would need thia the loat ia one with dry and/or dehydrates skin, skin thats losing elasticity or feeling tight, or skin that has been overworked by the sun because they havnt worn sunscreen all summer 🙃 (you know who you are). Although I dont fit these criteria, the past few days Ive been pretty sick with a cold (so yay, dry nose) and I’ve neglected my skin because, well, my head hurts and so I’ve felt super skin-dehydrated. This cleanser has been helped alot with those “symptoms” this morning as after washing off the product, my skin felt soothed and soft, and not as tight anymore 😁 So this cleanser is not exactly my go-to since I prefer gel cleansers with purifying, and anti-acne ingredients, but it was definitely a blessing to have today, and I other times I see fit. If you have the type of skin I described above, you’ll love this cleanser too ! Sugar strawberry exfoliator 🍓- such a nice exfoliant, I’ll definitely be splurging on the full size when my sample is done, because the exfoliating texture feels so gentle, definitely non-abrasive and smells ah-mazing! Black tea essence ☕️ - I’ve now classified this as my favourite essence because of the ease of application and the way it dries- down to a watery, non-tacky texture, and actually feel like it working to smooth and brighten my skin with continued use 😁

Lessons learned: moisturizing mistakes
I spent years playing around with products and techniques trying to treat my dry, acne-prone skin. Growing up, I always thought my skin was plagued by classic puberty-related oiliness. It took talking to a few friends and doing a lot of research to gradually realize that my skin was in fact very dry and needed hydration and kindness to improve. Trying new skincare products and methods that ended up not working was essential to getting my skin to where it is now! Keep reading for a breakdown of some of my early moisturizing mistakes (I made them so you don’t have to 🙃) and how I’ve corrected them in my routine today! I hate to type this, but I honestly didn’t use moisturizer religiously until... January of this year. I know, I know, literally the most important piece of a skin care routine, especially for dry skin, and I skipped it for my whole life. I tried a couple of moisturizers in high school, but they all gave me breakouts or rashes so I just gave up. I bought belif - The True Cream-Moisturizing Bomb last summer and just used it when I thought my skin needed a boost, aka almost never. Around Christmastime, I bought a gift box for myself that contained a sample size of WELEDA - Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Cream and I started using that nightly because it smelled so good and was super thick. I noticed my skin clear up and realized this was what I’d been missing. I was still scrubbing my face way too often and still had the occasional breakout which worsened when the weather warmed up (skin food is definitely not suited for the summertime), but this is when it started to click that I needed to really care for my skin, heal my moisture barrier, and replenish hydration whenever I could. When the weather warmed, I started using belif’s moisturizing bomb nightly instead and then when I added The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA I found exactly what worked for me. I was still having breakouts on my chin from hormones and just touching my face too often, so I started a morning routine of cleansing and using belif - The True Cream Aqua Bomb Aloe Vera which is a lighter gel formula to keep me moisturized throughout the day and I started having the best skin I’ve ever had! And that is how I went from years of ruining my skin and not understanding how to finding my perfect moisturizing routine! Share your best mistakes in the comments!
🦋What is a moisturizer? Moisturizers are an essential part of every skin-care routine! Just as our bodies require us to hydrate with water, so does our skin 💦 In short term, moisturizing perks your skin up, giving you a healthy fullness. In long term, consistent moisturizing helps decrease the appearance and rate at which fine lines and wrinkles emerge. 👉Tips You normally use your moisturizer at the end of your routine. It will hydrate your skin and help it wrinkles less. If you have an oily nose like me👃 you are not in the obligation to moisturize it, especially if you where makeup. Your foundation will stay longer on it😉 🧴Some if the best moisturizers🧴 e.l.f. - Holy Hydration! Face Cream - Fragrance Free It’s fragrance-free and has the benefits of hyaluronic acid, peptides and niacinamide😍 Great for sensitive skin 12.00$ THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer With its 1% peptide complex and a special smoothing royal jelly protein, this moisturizer seems like a typo! Great for all types 15.00$ Neutrogena - Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer Perfect for mature skin! It even contains SPF 30 lotion 🧴 It wears really well under makeup 💄 and is perfect for oily skin! 19.00$ Cetaphil - Daily Facial Moisturizer Probably my favorite drugstore moisturizer🤩 It contains hyaluronic acid, a dream ingredient fir anyone with dry skin😍 18.00$ belif - The True Cream-Moisturizing Bomb My all time favorite🥳 With no fragrance, it leaves the skin so smooth! It smells so good and is ideal for normal to dry skin types❤️ More pricey but worth the price 50.00$

Skincare advice from my derm
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in over ten years of dealing with acne, it’s that sometimes, over the counter products just aren’t enough. Frustratingly, the healthcare system in the US makes dermatologist visits and prescription meds very expensive. That’s why I want to share some of the advice I’ve gotten from my dermatologist. While I do use several prescription medicines to treat my acne, the tips and tricks I’ve gotten from my derm are useful for anyone dealing with the same issues as me (hormonal acne, as well as the texture and hyperpigmentation left behind). For reference, my skin is not sensitive—not sure if I was born that way or if I’ve built up a tolerance to harsh products over the years. I use a telemedicine service called Apostrophe, and before that, I used Curology. You fill out a questionnaire on your medical history and skin concerns, upload pictures of your skin, and a dermatologist reviews the information and creates a treatment plan for you. I have a whole post on why I switched from Curology to Apostrophe, but the short answer is that Apostrophe prescribes more oral medications and I wanted to try that route. I’ve had an excellent experience with both companies in terms of the detailed advice I’ve gotten from my providers. So let’s get into it! Here are some things my dermatologists have told me: Don’t pick at your skin... seriously. One of the best tips I got was to use hydrocolloid patches on acne with a head: not only does it help the bump go down way quicker, it keeps me from picking at it any further. I LOVE the COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch and I never go without them. Look at your diet. My derm says she gives this advice to ALL her patients: limit sugar, processed carbohydrates, and dairy. She says food is not generally the main cause of acne, but it can certainly aggravate it. She also always recommends increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables. Use sun protection—it helps dark spots fade faster, and of course prevents wrinkles. My derm recommends wearing SPF 30 or higher, as well as a wide-brimmed hat when outdoors. Along with my prescription cream, which includes niacinamide and tretinoin, my derm recommends the following products: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo Dual Acne Treatment, LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel, LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser,CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin,Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser, LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30, CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream These tips and the prescription meds I received from Apostrophe, have made my face clearer than it’s been in YEARS. I’m thrilled with my progress (the before/after photos have about 90 days between them). I’m running out of space, but feel free to ask any questions in the comments! #CheriePartner

My Highly Recommended Buys in Sephora💋
Sephora store is arguably the world's leading authority on cosmetics retail, which is definitely a great place to make good deals. I usually really enjoy visiting Sephora and always pick up some nice things. Though Sephora provides a collection of all kinds of cosmetics brands, its own skincare product line is also awesome. I do not know about you all but I LOVE the Sephora Collection skincare. Here I’m gonna share some good things I've tried. ▷ SEPHORA All Day Hydrator - Hydrate and Glow Hyaluronic Acid SEPHORA COLLECTION - All Day Hydrator Hydrate & Glow This is a lightweight moisturizing cream including Hyaluronic Acid(increase water retention to prevent dehydration) and Glycerin(moisturize the skin). I think it’s a wonderful non-greasy moisturizer that can improve dryness, redness, dull skin. I have very dry skin, this cream can stay on my face and moisturizes it all day! Anyway, with it, a natural glow on the skin is no longer a dream! ▷ Sephora Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C + E Serum SEPHORA COLLECTION - Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C Serum I love this facial serum. It absolutely adds great shine to my dull skin. It is so clean and I love the ingredients in it, containing natural Vitamin C and E(provide radiance and protect the skin from environmental factors), natural Peptides From Marine Algae( known for its tightening effect). ▷ Sephora Vitamin Mask SEPHORA COLLECTION - The Vitamins Masks Kit There are six types including cranberry, pear, passion fruit, white grape, pink grapefruit, and maqui berry, correspond to vitamin A, B, B3, B6, C, and E, respectively. They have different effects, which can satisfy your all needs: nourishing, hydrating, lightening, moisturizing brightening, anti-aging, repairing, and regenerating. The mask cloth is made of 100% natural banana fibers, which is skin-friendly breathable. Then they're packed with adequate essence. I have relatively sensitive skin and tend to have minor redness. These masks definitely help to reduce redness. I find them to be very relaxing and my skin feels soft and moisturized afterward. I especially like the variety that comes with the set. Hope you guys like it!
Does this work? Or so I just feel fancy?
Can someone who knows more about this stuff explain to me WHY I should be using serums? I’m too new to this and feel like nothing is happening. How do I just turn gorgeous? Is it serums cause, I’m not thinking it is... SEPHORA COLLECTION - Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C Serum

Touch up your SPF! ✨
We all know the importance of sunscreen (I hope)! If you saw my last post, you know that sunscreen is most effective when there is an adequate amount layered on to your skin to provide a proper barrier for sun protection. If you read any sunscreen bottle, there is always a recommendation to reapply it every 2 hours. This is not the easiest thing to do, especially if you wear makeup regularly, or if you just can’t sneak off to the bathroom every 2 hours during the day to spread globs of lotion on your face! This is how I work around this problem: 1️⃣ Start with a base of sunscreen lotion in the morning (using the 2 finger rule, of course). My current sunscreen of choice is Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 . This is the last step in my skincare routine, and it’s the last thing I put on my face before applying any makeup. 2️⃣ Throughout the day, I spray Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Face Mist Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 55 onto my hands (2-3 sprays), rub the mist onto the palms of both of my hands, and pat it all over my face/neck. I tend to have pretty sensitive skin but I haven’t had any negative reactions to this product! I gave it 4 stars only because I feel like it shouldn’t be the only SPF you use — the coverage it gives is minimal, which is okay for touch-ups but definitely not as a base sunscreen! Another method you can use to touch up your SPF is by using a powder sunscreen, though I personally find these harder to come by and more expensive. However, if it works for you, it works for you! Let me know what you beauties use to keep your skin protected!
My current skincare routine for oily skin
Hey beautiful people! I thought I would share my current skincare routine with everyone! I have been following this routine for a little over a month now and have really seen some positive results! **NOTE** - My routine is the same for AM and PM with the exception to the change in moisturizer and sunscreen. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser for Oily Skin I start with cleansing my skin with this cleanser. A little goes a long with this product as it foams really. I don’t feel much tightness on my skin after rinsing which is a great sign! PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator Next, I take this chemical exfoliator on a cotton round and sweep is all over my face and neck! This product is amazing. It reduced most of the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. I am super super super impressed with this product! THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum Then I go in with this niacinamide serum which is amazing! I definitely prefer this formula over the one sold by The Ordinary as its less sticky and much thicker. CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 I use this moisturizer in the morning! Its honestly a great moisturizer that really hydrates the skin. However, because it has sunscreen it leaves a white cast on my face which is so obvious against my darker skintone. CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion I use this moisturizer in the evening! I absolutely love it! It has almost a gel like feel that feels hydrating and absorbs quickly without making my skin feel greasy. Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Face Mist Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 55 Lastly, I go on with applying this sunscreen on my face/neck/arms when i need the extra protection!
I’ve been enjoying these products from Elemis for the last month and Lordy, they’re good, review below - Pro-Collagen Insta Smooth Primer ✨ I hold my hands up, I’m not great at remembering to use primers, but wow, I haven’t gone a day without this. It smooths on like silk and my foundation goes over it like a pore-less dream. I also feel like my foundations stays on much better throughout the day since using this. - Pro-Collagen Marine Cream ✨ so this claims to reduce fine lines in 14 days and I can firmly say it lives up to those claims. I have fine lines around my eyes and they’re much less noticeable. It smells delicious, makes your skin feel fresh, plump and smooth. I use over serum, under SPF every morning. - Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm ✨ I love a balm to take off my makeup and this one is gorgeous. When they say something ‘melts away makeup’ this should be at the top of the list. I just wish I had more, but they’ve just brought out a super sized tub, so I can’t complain! - Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash ✨ I use this at night after the balm, to double cleanse and allow the enzymes in this wash to eat away all the grime from the day. My skin’s texture has definitely improved and breakouts have reduced since using this baby. - Apricot Toner ✨ I’ve loved this since my first Elemis Facial, it smells good enough to eat and is so refreshing. I spritz this on morning and evening after cleansing and before the rest of my skincare. -

Oil Control Toner for my oily skin peeps!
Just so we’re clear, I’m an oily in the summer & bone dry in the winter kind of gal. This toner is life changing if you have oily skin! It’s from Ole Henriksen’s Balance line—called the Balancing Force Oil Control Toner #OLEHENRIKSEN - Balancing Force Oil Control Toner[goods]#[FourStars] . The product targets oily skin and inhibits the production of sebum, leaving skin more matte for the day or night. It has a spearminty fragrance, but it goes away when you use the rest of your routine on top of it. When I used it, at first I dropped some in my hands and patted it into my skin, but I found that it was harder to spread around my face that way. It sinks in so fast! I would recommend swiping it across your face on a cotton pad. It is definitely thinner than water. I would suggest following up with a serum and moisturizer to soften and mositurize your skin. This can be drying if you have dry skin, so I would not recommend it for dry skin types. Overall, I love using this in the summer when I am more likely to be oily. It prevents oil ALL day. Like, no joke. It doesn’t make your skin super dry or tight either, it just creates a longer lasting matte canvas for moisturizer and SPF and/or makeup. I would recommend getting a sample of this since it can be drying unless you have an oily skin type. A little goes a very long way—it would last forever. It’s $28 for 6.5oz which is a crazy deal since even the smallest bit of this toner is so effective. I have to give it 4 out of 5 stars since it has added fragrance (the minty scent).
Clinique 3 Step Skincare - Oily/Combination
1. Liquid facial soap is amazing on my face, especially on the t-zone area where I found is extra oily. $26 2. Clarifying lotion 3 is specific for oily to combination skin type as only the t-zone area is oily for me. I love using this for hot summer days but find that during winter it makes my skin feel a little dry. There are 3 other types based on what you need: oily skin, dry to combination skin, or dry skin. $23 3. I chose the dramatically different moisturizing gel cause it’s the one recommended for oily skin. I find most creams/lotions are too thick and feel heavy on my face. This one is light and I keeps me feeling hydrated. $36 **limited edition at Sephora, 3 step skincare system for skin types 3,4 $63** **limited edition at Sephora, 3 step skincare minis for skin types 3, 2 $39** - 6/30/2020 This is a great 3 step system for daily and nightly use. It’s a good introduction to skincare products if you’re looking for a basic routine/don’t need a high maintenance routine.

Under $20 Nightly Routine
Tonight I switched to my normal nightly routine, which included: $8 Cetaphil - Extra Gentle Daily Scrub I really like this product because it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It has small beads for a gentle exfoliation, but isn’t a major exfoliating product. It’s also non-comedogenic. $4 DICKINSON'S - Witch Hazel Liquid I use this as a toner to balance facial pH, minimize inflammation & pore size, and decrease oil production. I don’t use it every day or every night because it can be very drying to my skin. I just gauge the condition of my skin for that day prior to using. $6 Equate Beauty Oil Free Moisturizer. This is a very cheap Walmart brand moisturizer, but a must have in my stash. It’s very light, smooth, and gentle on my skin. It doesn’t leave any residue and absorbs quickly. Let me know what you use for your nightly routine or recommended products. :)

Tale of Two Reactions: Buyer beware!
CLINIQUE - Liquid Facial Soap Extra Mild CLINIQUE - Liquid Facial Soap Extra Mild Clinique Mild Facial Soap (Dry to Combo Skin) was my godsend in my 20s. I couldn’t be paid to switch cleansers; it was so reliable, effective and affordable. It’s been a while since I’ve used it but on a trip abroad this past Christmas, I realized I forgot my cleanser and while at the airport duty-free I decided to give Clinique another go. This time, however, I opted for the Extra Mild (Dry to Very Dry Skin) version because my skin is much drier than it once was and it was also mid-Winter. What an awful idea. The Extra Mild formula is more of a cleansing milk, and it goes on very light. I never really felt like it fully cleaned my skin, but I really loved how hydrating it felt. At first, it didn’t irritate my skin, and my skin was so soft after use. After about 2.5 weeks of daily use, I got a tiny pimple on my chin. Nothing too concerning at that moment, so I continued using it. Within a week of that initial pimple, I began noticing multiple, VERY painful lumps on my cheeks and nose - cystic acne! I used some spot treatments and lots of cold compresses to help the swelling. A day or two later the skin around my eye was so swollen and discoloured that it looked like a very minor black eye. I stopped using all skin care products and only used anti inflammatory creams and ice packs. After 7-10 days, all the swelling was gone and it was no longer painful. All that remained was multiple very dark spots (hyper pigmentation) where the bumps once were. I can’t say for certain what in this soap caused this, or if it would even happen again. All I know is I haven’t ever used that soap again and I haven’t had a single issue since. The rest of my products haven’t changed, the only variable was that particular cleanser. TL;DR - While I would recommend the Mild version in a heart beat, I would caution the use of the Extra Mild formula. You live, you learn. And the spots are almost gone now🥳 Would love to know if anyone had experiences something similar with any other products?✌🏼

Drugstore moisturizer for oily skin! 👌
This moisturizer is my absolute fav! I have acne-prone and oily skin, and this really helps to control my oil production. This contains salicylic acid that travels deep into the pores and combats that acne. Also, it’s oil free! Perfect for oily/combo skin types. I have been using this moisturizer since middle, and I haven’t really changed it up since. This is the one product that I can always come back to. It absorbs pretty quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave any sticky or greasy feeling afterwards. Feels just like skin! The consistency is like that of a cream/lotion. The best part is that this can be found at any drugstore. I’m a sucker for quality, drugstore brands and products! This one is definitely a hit.💫

Over-Exfoliated Skin: What To Do NextOver-exfoliation has a plethora of symptoms, ranging from redness and inflammation, tightness of the skin, dryness and flakiness, irritation bumps, rashes, breakouts, and a stinging sensation. With the rise in popularity of at-home chemical exfoliation, it’s easier than ever before to take it a step too far. Everyone is trying out TikTok-famous products like The Ordinary’s AHA 30% and BHA 2% Peeling Solution without an understanding of how strong it really is. Chemical exfoliation is all the rage now, due to its ability to clear up acne, even out the skin tone, and give you a glowy look.
