My favorite duos
Dr. Dennis Gross - at first I didn’t think it was doing much. A week later, I started noticing the small fine lines in my forehead were reducing and so were my enlarged pores, which I have been suffering from for a very long time! why YOU should be using AZELAIC ACID
azelaic acid is a super amazing ingredient in skincare ! it aids in:
even skin tone
target stubborn spots
soothes irritation & redness
PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster
🍃key ingredients 🍃
azelaic acid (skin brightening, texture improving)
glycerin (skin replenishing)
salicylic acid (exfoliant)
licorice root extract (skin soothing)
I really really love this product!! it claims to do what is listed above, and I must say that it does this. I use this every night in my routine. it is a cream texture which I was surprised with at first because I had previously used the NATURIUM - Azelaic Topical Acid 10% which is a serum formula.
before using this product, when I would pop my pimples...(I know I know, but we have all been there right?!), I would wake up with a huge scar on my face with redness everywhere! NOW, (for the occasional time that I do get pimples and pop them), the redness fades very soon after and I wake up looking like I never had a pimple there in the first place!
my jawline tends to be prone to texture & pimples, and I believe that this product is a key reason as to why I don’t get many bumps or pimples there anymore!!
I swear by this product and will definitely be trying to repurchase it in the future if my budget allows me to haha.

Ingredients to Build your Routine Around
I am 35 years old with two kids. I have dry / normal skin. My top concerns are fine lines & wrinkles, preventing aging, dullness, and dark circles. When I started my skincare routine, all I knew was that I started to notice fine lines & wrinkles and wanted to buy new products for “anti-aging”.
After a lot of research, here are my Top 5 Ingredients with proven benefits for 30s Skin:
1. Retinol
Retinol is a powerhouse for wrinkles. It is a synthetic derivative of Vitamin A. It alters the behaviour of aged skin cells. It smooths skin texture, enhances radiance and treats aging. Retinol can be irritating to skin, so build up your tolerance gradually starting with a lower percentage and only 1-2 days per week.
DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream
Murad - Ready, Radiant, Retinol
SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.3
SUNDAY RILEY - Luna Sleeping Night Oil
If you need an alternative to retinol because you have sensitive skin or you are pregnant or breastfeeding, bakuchiol is a good plant-based all natural alternative to retinol or rosehip oil is high in Vitamin A.
HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum
BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum
The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
2. Vitamin C
A potent antioxidant that helps reduce skin inflammation, irregular pigmentation, and promotes healthier collagen production. It neutralizes free radical damage and great for AM routine.
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Time to Wake Up Duo
SUNDAY RILEY - CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum
SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum
VERSED - STROKE OF BRILLIANCE Brightening Serum
3. Exfoliate / AHAs
Exfoliation is about boosting cell turnover. You should do it twice a week. Use different acids like lactic acid and glycolic acid. Build up a tolerance. You can use toners, serums, or creams.
Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment
SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment
The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA
FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum
4. Peptides
Peptides preserve and boost collagen production. Peptides are short chain amino acids that act as building blocks for proteins such as collagen. It improves the appearance of firmness and wrinkles. Extensive research supports that peptides improve skin function and appearance.
The Ordinary - ''Buffet''
OLAY - Wrinkle Correction Serum with Vitamin B3+ Collagen Peptides PAULA'S CHOICE - Peptide Booster
5. Hydration
In your 30s your skin tends to get dehydrated. Hydration will plump up skin. Add a hydrating toner, facial spray, hyaluronic acid serum.
The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
**BONUS** SPF
Never forget you sunscreen ☀️

FINALLY! It’s mine!
This is one brand I’ve been stalking and I’ve finally got my hands on the highly raved, much talked about PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator
I’d say what really draws me to this particular brand is its commitment to highly effective, well tested products. I feel they really listen to their customers and value their feedback.
Well, imagine my surprise when in pops an email from a Paula’s Choice social media team member asking for my address to send me some products just for being me?!? I couldn’t respond fast enough with a...., “YES!” I’m not sure why I’ve been sleeping on this brand for so long. I follow so many diehard fans that swear and have visual proof of the changes their products have made. I have a feeling it’s all going to change after this...
Just a little about PC if you haven’t heard of the brand (taken from the website) :
Did you know that the founder, Paula was actually fired from her job working at a cosmetic counter for explaining to a customer what products could and couldn’t do for their skin?
(This is what we need more of!! I was immediately drawn to the brand when I first heard about that!)

I’d probably start swapping out some of the products I currently use for similar items. For instance, I am looking for a replacement vitamin c so I’d trade mine out for theirs. Then the Niacinamide and Hyaluronic and so on. I’m definitely going to do the skincare quiz and see what’s recommended for me!

Daytime Routine
Recently I’ve gone through a lot of products and emptied a couple favourites, so I’ve changed up some products in my routine and thought I would do an updated day time routine.
My first step is always cleansing, I haven’t gone through my comfort zone - comfort zone Essential Cleansing Milk but I’m pretty close to done, over half way, but it should last me at least another month. Next I spray my face with the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha and immediately put on the Dr Dennis Gross - Stress Rescue Super Serum with Niacinamide (📍). I’ve only been using this Youth to the People spay for a month, but I’ve already seen it make a huge difference in my glowiness and hydration through the day. The serum has also improved my skin a lot as my skin is sensitive to vitamin c, this has the brightening (niacinamide) and the antioxidant protection (goji fruit) that a vitamin c serum would have, without the irritation. Next I put on my The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG (📍) eye cream/serum, this helps to de puff my under eyes in the morning. My last three steps are to moisturizer with the CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Instant Brightening Moisturizer (📍), apply my current SPF which is the THANK YOU FARMER - Sun Project Water Sun Cream and moisturizer my lips with the Glossier. - Balm Dotcom .
I also want to start a new system in my posts, products with a 📍behind it on my posts, I received for free, as I’m trying to be more conscious of that. I’ve gone back on past posts and utilized this system. Thanks for reading!

Top Serums of 2020!
I like all these serums for different reasons.
For exfoliating:
SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment
This has been my go too this whole year, so creamy and hydrating, but still gently exfoliates. One of the best serums I’ve tried to get rid of blemishes and texture.
For brightening:
CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum The Brightening Solution (📍)
I’m very sensitive to Vitamin C, so this has been my go too for four years for brightening sun spots and hyperpigmentation. It also hydrates my skin which is an added bonus.
For summer:
THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum
This is a recent find, I found this gem in March while my skin was really breaking out. During the summer, this serum was really lightweight, but a great niacinamide serum for more combo-dry skin as it contains hyaluronic acid.
For winter:
Dr Dennis Gross - Stress Rescue Super Serum with Niacinamide (📍)
This serum is so creamy and beautiful in texture. It hydrates, but still has that niacinamide to help even the skin tone. This also has goji which is a great antioxidant!

Farmacy Beauty’s Honeymoon Glow ✨✨
Farmacy Honeymoon Glow
Where do I even begin with this product? One of the things I sought to get was Farmacy’s Honeymoon Glow after being introduced and recommended to this holy grail product by so so SO many people in the skincare community on Instagram. This was before I even started using acids in my routine, and I am not a big fan of change, so you can guess how high my expectations for this product were.
This night serum claims to be a 3-in-1 serum that does it all: it resurfaces, clarifies, and hydrates your skin for a healthy natural glow. More importantly, it targets hyperpigmentation (which I need for all the times I scratch at my pimples, LOL!). Apart from this, it also exfoliates, hydrates, and refines pore size with consistent use. Honeymoon Glow has AHA (lactic, glycolic, citric, and other fruit acids) as well as BHA (willow bark - salicylic acid) in it, so on some level I was expecting my face to get all red and tingly after application since this was my very first foray into acids (AHA, BHA, and all that).
First things first: I was surprised to note that the serum isn’t as thick as I was expecting it to be - rather, it is a nice lightweight milky serum that goes on easily, kind of like your everyday hydrating serum. I was also pleasantly surprised to note that my skin wasn’t overly irritated or affected by the potent blend of acids (14%!) in this product. My face did get a little red and the serum was slightly tingly, but thankfully no major side effects - I didn’t break out, no peeling, etc. I
As I’ve only used this twice so far, I don’t think I’m the best person to describe any long-lasting effects from consistent use. However, I did wake up the next day with a nice glow to my skin, and my face felt super smooth and supple. I used this product on its own, with a lightweight toner and a moisturiser after, just to reduce the risk of irritation, so you know the glow is entirely from this serum. I would think that with consistent usage this will be able to lighten any pigmentation and even out my skin tone.
First impressions wise, I think this product lives up to its hype - I definitely like this one! :-) Even though I haven’t been using this long enough, I would recommend it to my friends who are struggling with acne scarring and texture on their face, just based on the fact that there have been so many glowing reviews for this serum, and that the results are already so good after a single use.
The Honeymoon Glow is 58 USD for 30ml, which is a tad pricey, but as you don’t need a lot of product for one application, I think that 58 USD is a pretty decent price considering that I will only be using this 2-3 times a week. What’s great now is that Farmacy also has a neat ‘Sweet Dreams’ holiday kit called that gives you a full sized Honeymoon Glow, a 100ml Clean Bee cleanser, and a mini sized Honey Grail face oil for 65 USD, which is a steal as well!

VALJEAN LABS - Valjean Labs Facial Serum
This *GLOW* serum claims to deflect the damaging effects of everyday exposure to pollutants. As well as brightening the skin tone and reducing signs of aging, especially fine lines and wrinkles.
It contains collagen, vitamin C and Magnesium.
It’s formula is very silky and lightweight, absorbing to the skin very quickly. The reason it claims to protect your skin against the elements is because it creates a think layer between your skin and pollutants, acting as a protective barrier.
I use it a lot in combination of my Tri-light device from SkinInc to maximize it’s potential. It’s definitely my go to when I am fighting breakouts and dark spots. Magnesium also helps reduce the chances of breakouts happening, so it’s a good preventive measures
After using it, my skin is left with a nice glow and over time it helps clear up my dark spots.
I always recommend Valjean Labs serums (as you can tell from previous reviews) not only because they are affordable but because they work. This happens to probably be my favorite one. It’s def worth a try!

My Acne Fighting Skincare Routine
I’ve struggled with cystic breakouts for almost three years now (they started popping up when I was 22) and I’ve finally found a routine that works for me and my skin—unfortunately for my bank account, most of the products that actually work are on the pricey side.
For me, I’ve noticed that chemical exfoliants perform the best for my skin. Since they contain harsh acids, I use them at night and make sure to use sunscreen every morning since they make your skin more sensitive to the sun. But since my skin is slightly sensitive and can be reactive, I’ve learned that hard way that I have to rotate in the heavy-duty ones to keep everything calm.
After cleansing my skin, here are the nighttime products I use to fight acne:
**In general, it’s better to go thinnest to thickest when layering skincare products**
1. Allies of Skin - Mandelic Pigmentation Corrector Night Serum
This serum has made the biggest difference in the overall smoothness and evenness of my skin. Another anti-aging serum, it’s powered by alpha hydroxy acids (mandelic, lactic and salicylic acids) which speed up cellular renewal and lighten dark spots, while a natural retinol alternative (bakuchiol) reduces multiple signs of aging. Like retinol, bakuchiol is great for smoothing the skin and is effective in reducing the appearance of acne - only it’s much more gentle and better for people with sensitive skin.
2. OLE HENRIKSEN - Invigorating Night Transformation Gel
This product is designed to target the signs of aging, but its AHA complex (glycolic & lactic acids) has been a great chemical exfoliant for my acne-prone skin. In addition to targeting wrinkles, it acts as a solution for dark spots, dullness and unevenness.
3. C&C by Clean & Clear - Persa-Gel 10, Maximum Strength
When there’s an active pimple on my face that’s super red and irritable, I always apply this powerful gel to help speed things up. This spot treatment contains 10% benzoyl peroxide and goes to work quickly by penetrating deep into the skin.
All of these products can be drying, so I also make sure to mix in a hyaluronic acid serum and hydrating facial oil to keep everything balanced.

{AHA/BHA serum} Farmacy Honeymoon Glow
🍯 The what:
This is the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow AHA resurfacing night serum. This is available at online retailers and Sephora.
🍯 The details:
This serum contains a 14% AHA/BHA/flower acid blend to exfoliate dead skin, reduce the appearance of pores, fine lines, and wrinkles, and target pesky hyperpigmentation. This serum also contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump your skin while preventing moisture loss. As the name suggests, this also contains honey to soothe and provide antioxidants. This serum is recommended for use up to 3x/week but NOT in combination with other acids. Those with sensitive skin should patch test, but is suitable for all skin types.
🍯 My thoughts:
THIS SERUM! It’s the 🐝’s knees. All jokes aside, this is a great product. I use this serum 1-2x/week because I do rotate other acid products in my PM routine. I had no problem acclimating this product into my routine. It took a few uses to notice that my skin’s appearance was brighter, my small big of hyperpigmentation has reduced, and a reduction in enlarged pores. This product is easy to spread, and has a slight chemical-y scent. I always take care to never apply over any irritated areas/broken skin/open acne because it will STING. There is always a slight sting when applying but it subsides quickly. After applying, I follow up with a light face oil and moisturizer. In the morning, my face is bright, smooth, and hydrated. This product has made a big difference in my routine and, although it is pricey, it’s worth the money and you do not need a lot. I’ve been using this for months and am still not yet 1/2 through the bottle. This will be a repurchase in the future.
🍯 The price:
$58 for 1 oz. Mine came in a Boxycharm, but this product had been on my wishlist and I would have purchased anyways. Check out Farmacy’s holiday sets to score this and other things!
5/5⭐️
FARMACY-Honeymoon Glow Serum
products for: acne
Today’s post is on a product I use for acne! This PAULA'S CHOICE - Antioxidant Pore Purifier is packed with incredible ingredients and always helps my breakouts and also helps prevent them!
I have combo skin right now, as well as acne prone. My undereyes, nose, and chin get super dry, while my cheeks and forehead are normal (not dry or oily.) I get breakouts around my mouth (hormonal and dairy hahah) and on my T zone mostly.
Claims:
— clear pores of daily debris and pollution
— brightens skin
— keeps skin looking younger
Key ingredients:
— antioxidants
— salicylic acid
— azaleic acid
— vitamin c
— niacinamide
My thoughts:
— lightweight serum, not watery but a bit thicker than normal serums
— kind of refines my pores, and I know that pores don’t really disappear, but between this and the BHA they make, my pores are looking smaller than ever.
— my acne and oil production goes down significantly when I use this regularly, and my skin looks brighter!
— I hate the packaging on their serums, I know that sounds crazy but I hate the squeeze tube and it comes out so slowly! And then I have to screw the top back on and it’s just inconvenient.
— this is on sale right now for about $26, so I would totally pick it up if I needed a refill! I really like how my skin feels when I use this and I like knowing that PC is protecting my skin all around.

Kate Somerville Product Review
This is one of the first skincare products I’ve tried, and still one of the best ones. It’s supposed to help diminish the look of scars. I’ve used it every night for about two months, and it worked like magic. It easily diminished the look of any dents/scars I’ve had, as well as helping with the hyperpigmentation. It’s also hydrating and doesn’t dry out the skin. This is definitely a products worth checking out if you’re struggling with acne scars.Kate Somerville - D-Scar Scar Diminishing Serum
