reishi + ashwagandha: the incredible duo

YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi
A hydrating moisturizer with squalane, ashwagandha, and fermented reishi mushrooms. Squalane helps boost hydration because it mimics the squalene in your skin already, and aids in minimizing clogged pores. Ashwagandha reduces visible signs of fatigue. And reishi mushrooms hydrate and detoxify! This moisturizer is intensely hydrating - it’s so rich and hydrates deep. I use it at night in my pm routines after serums and before my oil. It’s great for fall/winter, and might be to much for some people in summer. I have normal to combo skin, sensitive acne prone, and also rosacea. It’s soothing and calms my skin from allergic reactions, acne redness, and maskne. A little goes a long way and despite its richness, it sinks in almost immediately and doesn’t take much rubbing in to get it to melt in. Full size is $58 YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha
This mist was very overhyped on Instagram, and I was hesitant to try it. I lucked out and found it in this mini set, at $24 for both of these. It’s unfortunately, very worth the money! The mist is super fine, sprays evenly and so gently, and feels amazing on. Sometimes I leave it in the fridge for added cooling! This can be used as a toner, between any steps of your routine, or as a refresher throughout the day! My favorite way to use it is when I get home from work and I feel icky and tired and my face is sore from the mask. This also contains ashwagandha, which is an adaptogen that contains a bunch of antioxidants, iron and amino acids, and reishi, which is a mushroom that combats prematurely aging skin. It also contains peptides, which calm skin and aid in soothing sensitive skin. This comforts my irritated skin, from either acne/maskne, or just from wearing a mask all day. $42 for full size I suggest picking up minis of this duo because a lot of people are allergic to the mushrooms in it! Some people can eat mushrooms and be fine, but topically their skins says ✖️ no ✖️ Something else I want to mention is that YTTP’s little slogan is “skincare for all,” which I’ve always been a fan of - until recently. I realized that because of the high prices of their products, it’s not really skincare for “all,” but instead for people who can afford it. Purchasing full sizes of YTTP is definitely a splurge for me - I freelance full time and am partially unemployed because of COVID - and I know a lot of people are probably in the same boat.

Morning skin care and simplifying skincare
Hi skin care friends! I’ve recently changed up my morning skin care routine and I wanted to share with you guys. I’ve recently taken a more simplistic approach to skin care using just one toner/essence, one serum and one moisturizer in a routine. I find I get better results with this simplistic method and a don’t use as much product! I also find with this stately I don’t have to worry as much if my ingredients are going to interact badly together. Has anyone else had this experience? While it’s perfectly okay to layer or cocktail your treatments, I feel like it’s easy to waste product Im this way and our skin can only absorb so much. To fellow skin care junkies out there are I would just say to be mindful of this when you take a step back and look at your routine. Keeping this in mind here is my new morning skin care routine. 1) Cleanse: dermalogica - UltraCalming Cleanser My go to cleanser, it’s so so gentle and calming and gives me clean skin without stripping. 2)Exfoliation: dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator This is a lovely rice powder enzyme exfoliant that’s is gentle enough for my sensitive skin. This product gently buffs away the dead dry skin cells on the surface of my skin and allow my other products to penetrate much better. I can use it daily most of the time, if my skin is feeling extra sensitive I’ll skip this step. 3)Tone: dermalogica - Redness Relief Essence This essence is multi tasking because it tones my skin and treats redness and sensitivity. 4)Serum: SUMMER FRIDAYS - CC Me Vitamin C Serum This product contains both vitamin C and niacinamide all wrapped together in one great serum, yes you can use them together! The vitamin C helps protect, hydrate brighten my skin. The niacinamide helps strengthen my skin barrier. I have tried so many vitamin c serums but this is by far my favorite and one of the only ones that doesn’t sensitize my skin. 5)Eyes: dermalogica - Biolumin-C Vitamin C Eye Serum actually helps with dark circles and fine lines under the eye. 6)Moisturize: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi I love this one for day time because it’s light feeling but is surprisingly really moisturizing and calming. 7)Sunscreen: dermalogica - Invisible Physical Defense Sunscreen SPF 30 My favorite sunscreen. Doesn’t break me out or cause a white cast. I would love you hear your thoughts on my routine and suggestions.

💥 Power to the People!
while, I’ve got your attention, the last day to register to vote is coming soon! (It’s Oct. 5th where I am!) exercise your right and vote for a brighter future! 🌸 I LOVE this brand! Unfortunately, I’ve bought a lot of their products. I say unfortunately because they’re quite expensive BUT so worth it! Their cleanser is the most yummiest smelling cleanser ever! This is such a great moisturizer! The Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream! (mouthful!) So I’ve tried quite a few moisturizers and this one really stuck with me. I have combo skin (and reactive) and this is one that didn’t feel too sticky, drying, cakey, etc. It feels super hydrating! Bonus: it barely has much of a smell/scent! The website states, “its deeply hydrating moisturizer with superior plant extracts and a pro-grade peptide complex formulated for dry, reactive, and sensitive skin.” and I agree! 👆 It’s made of a Proprietary Adaptogen Blend: Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, and Reishi. The use of adaptogens as medicine, taken internally and applied topically, has been championed by Eastern medicine and Ayurveda for 5,000 years! I switch back and forth between this and my moisturizer from Trader Joe’s but I think this will be what I’ll be reaching for this winter. I’d def try a sample if you can first so you can try out the texture because it’s different than the Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream which is more like a gel. Highly recommend!

My recent daytime routine for oily skin
Note** This picture doesn’t include my Netrogena sunscreen ** I always always wear it though!! I’ve gone through a ton of different products and a ton of different routines for daytime trying to combat my oily skin. This one is my most recent but it’s the one that has undoubtedly helped me the most!! Daytime ☀️ I wake up and I cleanse my face with the Youth to the People Kale+Green tea, spinach, & vitamins face wash. This cleans my face of all the nightly skincare products I use and leaves my face soft but not stripped. (This is very important! Do not use a wash that will strip your skins oils if you have oily skin, it will just work overtime to replace it 😩) I then spray my face with the Youth to the People Adaptogen soothe & hydrate mist. This gives my skin a boost of hydration but it also leaves my skin matte which is perfect! I really love this spray and I use this throughout the day as needed as well! My last step before ☀️screen, (because honestly your daytime routine should be simple) is I use the boscia charcoal gel moisturizer. I just did a review on this moisturizer and I’m not kidding when I say that this is literally my holy grail for my oily skin. It moisturizes extremely well but the charcoal and it absorbs any oil and it continues to do so throughout the day even under make up!! This is a very recent routine I’ve adapted and it’s working amazing right now!! I don’t even have to reapply powder throughout the day which is the best!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 If anything changes I will definitely make an update post! If you have oily to combination skin and you were looking for a routine that will help your face stay matte but still moisturize throughout the day definitely give this one a try!! 💧 boscia - Revitalizing Black Charcoal Hydration Gel YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser

First few uses review!!
Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist Is not one of the products I was super excited about getting in my mini kit but man was I WRONG 🤦🏻‍♀️ This is like finding that missing piece to my life! Ok, not THAT serious but my skincare routine really was missing this! Let’s dive deeper! YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha $ 42.00 for a 4 oz. bottle. I’ve used my mini probably 10 times since yesterday and it’s barely moved so I know the 4 oz. will last a long time! Claims: An ultra-fine mist that hydrates, calms visible redness, and evens the look of skin tone with antioxidant-rich adaptogens, hyaluronic acid, and soothing peptides—like a serum in a mist. Think of it as a mid-day refresh to your serum and moisturizer. We recommend 3 - 6 sprays / 3 times per day for best results. Key ingredients: Proprietary Adaptogen Blend: Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, and Reishi. The use of adaptogens as medicine, taken internally and applied topically, has been championed by Eastern medicine and Ayurveda for 5,000 years. Reishi, Pentapeptide, Shea butter, Ashwagandha, and hyaluronic Acid. This is my real first impressions review and so far I really have to say I love this. After cleansing and toning, I spray my face 3-6 times and let it dry. I can tell that my red cheeks calm down super quick after using and it leaves me face face smooth and super soft. There is no stickiness or any trace it was even there other than my skin just feeling amazing. The best part about this spray is that if during the day your face starts to feel parched just spritz a few times and it even somehow takes away the dryness AND the oily spots!! I’ll definitely use the entire bottle and do a more in-depth review after longer use but I have to say, so far so AMAZING 🙌🏻🙌🏻

YTTP Adaptogen deep moisture cream!
YTTP Adaptogen deep moisture cream!
Meet Youth To The People’s adaptogen deep moisture cream, my go-to daily moisturizer to keep my sensitive/dry skin soothed and hydrated. I’m not really a huge fan of moisturizers, they’re a NEED not a WANT in my skincare collection. I’m not the person to get excited about moisturizer launches or try anything fancy.. but THIS one really stands out. YTTP is an outstanding company with all around GREAT products in their line. Every product of theirs has fantastic ingredients with zero harmful fillers, alcohols, or fragrance. Adaptogen deep moisture cream is meant for ALL skin types, especially dry/sensitive like me, due to the thicker/creamier formula and soothing adaptogens. This cream claims to be deeply hydrating and calming, to help soothe redness and dehydration. This cream has ZERO scent to it, has a thick whipped texture, and soaks into the skin without leaving any weird residue nor dewiness. I absolutely love the finish of this cream, leaves your skin velvety. I have been using adaptogen deep for a complete year now! I’ve just started my third jar of it, and can’t recommend it enough! It truly is a versatile cream for anyone needing moisture in their skin. My only tiny tiny gripe, and i’ve basically been spoiled with DE’s air tight pump packaging, is that this is in a jar and you have to dip into it. Most of the time I don’t have an extra second to grab a spatula to scrape out of the jar, so its a little unsanitary (obv my own fault). This product comes in a decent size jar, 2 oz/60ml at 58USD, which I find pretty standard in the beauty industry. One of the cheaper moisturizers I’ve used and I feel it does go a long way, so well worth it. I highly recommend this cream.YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi

So the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi was sent as a surprise gift to me and I have been using it for 3 weeks. Which really goes to show just how little you need to cover your whole face well. I think this is meant for any skin type really but would probably say dry skin types would benefit the most from it. The adaptogens and mushroom ingredients definitely help calm my skin a bit and reduce irritation. No breakouts from using this at all, in fact I think I’ve seen less breakouts since I started it. The texture is a bit thick but not too heavy for daytime use. It applies well and absorbs so quickly so I don’t look to shiny after applying which is always a plus. There doesn’t seem to be a fragrance to it which is one of my favorite things. After I apply it, it just feels like my skin is amazing and not like I have a moisturizer on. Overall I’ve been a huge fan. Definitely going to be purchasing the full size soon because it’s so nice. I would definitely reccomend this to anyone looking for a decently moisturizing moisturizer. Safe for acne (at least for me), and sensitive skin!

Part 2: my quest for the perfect gel moisturizer
Part 2: my quest for the perfect gel moisturizer
I tried 7 different gel moisturizers so you don’t have to! Part 2/3 (Parts 1 and 3 are on my page) Krave - Oat So Simple Water Cream Liah Yoo is my skinfluencer bae and I really trust her recommendations and her brand. I wanted to love this moisturizer since it has so few ingredients and is supposed to be great for oily skin, but sadly it was just not moisturizing enough for me. I tried it everyday on my face for about a month in all different ways—after many hydrating layers of toners/essences/serums, with a moisturizing sunscreen on top, mixed with Squalane oil, applied it in multiple layers—and still my face would feel tight and dry after a few hours. Sometimes parts of my face would be peeling by the end of the day too. The texture of this product is beautiful, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a water cream and is scent less. I would recommend this if you have very oily skin, but otherwise I don’t think it will be occlusive enough. Dr.G - RED-BLEMISH Clear Cream This is another product I purchased after seeing it in one of Liah’s favorites videos. I also really wanted to love this product. It has an amazing ingredients list with lots of soothing, moisturizing ingredients like glycerin and cica. The texture is a super lightweight watery gel, and it sinks nicely into the skin. However, I had the same problem with this product as I did with the Krave Oat So Simple. Though I did not experience any peeling with this product, it was not occlusive enough and I would feel tight and dry after a few hours. However, I would still recommend this to anyone with oily skin or people who live in a hot and humid climate. The ingredients are amazing and it didn’t worsen my acne. ETUDE HOUSE - Soonjung Hydro Barrier Cream I read and watched rave reviews about the Etude House Soon Jung line and how it was formulated for sensitive skin. The texture of this cream is more like a gel-cream, I would say. It’s smooth, white, and scentless. However, I had the opposite problem with this cream where I felt like it was too occlusive for me. Like the Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel-Cream, this product also felt like I had a thin layer of Vaseline on my skin. Especially after applying sunscreen, my face felt a little sticky/tacky and looked pretty greasy. The grease does fade after a while, but the tacky occlusive feeling did not fade for me. My boyfriend, who has extremely dry skin, has been using this cream as a daytime moisturizer and his skin loves it. But I would not recommend it to people who have combo or oily skin. Stay tuned for Part 3 of my gel moisturizers review!

So glad to have back one of my all time favorite creams! I’ve used it before I even had this skincare account. At the time, I got it because of its promise to help with dryness and redness, as well as benign safe for sensitive skin. I instantly fell in love with it because of its creamy, yet light texture. It easily spreads on the skin, feels very nourishing and rich, doesn’t sit on top, and keeps the skin hydrated throughout the day (and night). . I think this is one of those creams that will work for a lot of people. It’s rich and creamy, which is great for people with dry skin, but it’s also light and not too heavy, which is great for oily people. It’s also has calming ingredients such as ashwagandha, which is perfect for those with sensitive skin or problems with redness. . . . . . (Gifted)

This is the Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream by Youth to the People. It is meant to soothe skin and hydrate skin. I just got this recently and I already love this! It’s buttery and my skin drinks this right up. My skin has been really irritated and this is helping and doesn’t break me out. The mushroom in this is really soothing but it doesn’t have a real smell at all! I also love that they are vegan and this is a glass container. So cool! Everything this brand makes is amazing. They truly seem to not be able to do any wrong. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi

Products for Sensitive Skin
Products for Sensitive Skin
🍌 So I don’t have particularly sensitive skin but I definitely am prone to SENSITIZING my skin which I blame on my late stage chemical exfoliant and retinol addiction. I’ve had my share of contact dermatitis and these are some products I love when my skin is really reacting. 🍌 Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream - a lightweight soothing moisturizer. The texture of this is really interesting...it kind of jiggles in the jar and reminds me of banana pudding before it sets. This moisturizer contains magnesium and banana which are both great for calming irritation. It has a very light banana scent and is a great daily moisturizer if you have sensitive skin or are using heavy actives. 🍌 REN Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm - a heavy balm for really dry or sensitive skin. If you’re oily you’ll hate this stuff. It has the texture of literal Vaseline. But if your skin is really dry or irritated this will calm it down. I use this when my skin is in a state of emergency and it always helps. This balm contains a plethora of soothing and moisturizing botanical oils...it does also contain essential oils and fragrance if that’s something you’re sensitive to. 🍌 Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream - this is a GREAT moisturizer for stressed out skin. This one is a little heavier than the Glow Recipe but not too rich. The star ingredient in this is Guaiazulene which is derived from chamomile and gives the cream it’s beautiful blue color. This also contains Centella Asciatica a great soothing ingredient for calming redness.
