Ingredient Spotlight: Cica/Centella Asiatica

Hi guys! Today I’m gonna be Spotlighting the ingredient cica or centella asiatica. The products I’ve chosen to review for you with cica are LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Mask
, Benton - Goodbye Redness Centella Mask Pack, 10 Masks, Each
, and the Dr. Jart+ - Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Mist
! What is Centella Asiatica? It’s an herb that is grown primarily in Asia, with multiple uses, including medicine and cooking. However, it’s commonly used in skincare for its healing and soothing benefits. It contains active compounds that show antioxidant benefits and soothes upset skin. Some people liken it to green tea! — Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask: this has been legit the perfect addition to my night routine. You’re apparently supposed to use it 1-2 times a week but I can’t stop myself from using it at least four times a week. It’s soft and creamy, and just a tad thicker than their water sleeping masks. It’s hydrating and neutralizes my redness like NO BIZ. I struggle with rosacea hardcore and this calms my skin down from any kind of irritation or reaction. The cica in it is clearly the powerhouse, and the cream is rich but never streaky. I wake up with refreshed and calmed skin, and no residue. It’s $34, but it has lasted me a while and I already have a backup. — Benton Centella Mask: not my favorite cica product, but it’s not bad at all! It’s $2.80/mask, which is a great price to me. This surprisingly soothes my breakouts and acne the most, and doesn’t irritate any skin. However, I think they make a serum that is this mask in serum form, and I would much rather have that! Sheet masks seem kind of wasteful and useless to me, since I could get the same benefits from a serum. This mask is good, though, and if you struggle with irritated red breakouts, this would probably help you! — Dr. Jart Cicapair Mist: I guess this is my favorite of the three! I use this at all times of the day, morning to night, after makeup, before makeup, to refresh my skin midday, you name it! It’s truly a do it all mist. This soothes and calms my skin instantly and I can see the redness fade away as it hydrates and helps my skin. It’s great to use when I have a reaction to a product, or my face is red from anxiety or rosacea! I would totally repurchase this, as it only costs $23.

help! eye product to use with adapalene
I just finished my first week on Tactupump (prescribed adapalene and benzoyl peroxide). I've read different posts about how to start adding retin-A safely - pea sized amount over whole face, avoiding eyes and mouth, every other day, removed other actives, spf, etc. Overall I'm doing okay but just had a minor reaction with my favorite eye serum The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG applied after 4 days and instantly started burning and caused redness/flakiness under my brows. I applied aloe but stopped using the serum and haven't had a reaction since. AM routine: - Norwex gentle facial cloth wash with water - THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Mist (want to replace but just using up the last bit as a base for serums) - SNP - PREP Peptaronic Toner - Osmosis Beauty - Rescue - Epidermal Repair Serum - CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream - Supergoop! - Play Everyday Lotion 50 Default Title or Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 if wearing makeup PM routine: - DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil - innisfree - Green Tea Hydrating Cleansing Foam - SNP - PREP Peptaronic Toner - boscia - Cactus Water Moisturizer soon to be replaced with LANEIGE - Water Bank Moisture Cream - Tactupump 0.1% adapalene and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide topical gel every other day - CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream plus The Ordinary - "B" Oil soon to be replaced with LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Maskon Tactupump nights Any suggestions for a safer eye product I can swap in? I need the extra hydration around my eyes and have morning puffiness and dark circles.

Every Wednesday Routine
I have a certain routine I do every Wednesday. Wednesday is the day I exfoliate, clay mask, sheet mask and scrub and deep clean my skin. 1st Step: fresh - Soy Face Cleanser Jumbo #Tadaam - Cleansing Brush[products]#[FiveStars] I cleanse with my soy cleanser using a cleansing brush. This brush is VERY soft but effective. I use the 60 sec rule and gently scrub. 2nd step: Kiehl's - Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque I use this clay mask once a week to give my pores the deep cleaning they need. I leave it one until mask is hard. I rinse off with a warm cloth (gently). 3rd Step: PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I use this exfoliating toner once a week because it can be a little strong for my skin. This helps give my skin the extra dose of deep cleaning and removal of dead skin. 4th Step: #Simple - Water Boost Hydrating Sheet Mask[products]#[FiveStars] I sheet mask after all of the stress I put my skin through from the other steps. I try to use a Hydrating sheet mask but if not, I will use a any sheet mask that will replenish my skin. 5th Step: IOPE - Limited Edition Rentinol Expert Essence 0.1% I use a rentinol serum or essence usually this one to help with firmness and wrinkles. 6th & final step: I use a sleeping mask LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Mask To sooth my skin and lock in moisture. It gives my skin the final dose of hydration. Is it effective? I have eczema/sensitive skin and I've tried a lot routines to help get and keep my skin healthy. This routine really gives my skin what it needs. The next day my skin very hydrated, smooth and glowing. It feels amazing and looks so healthy and clean. I've been using this routine once a week for 4 months now and it never fails. Do you have a certain routine at times or days? #whoisnee #cheriecreator #skincareroutine

Tiger Grass Calming Mist 😐
Dr. Jart+ - Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Mist Are mist really necessarily for the face? Nope! It’s a luxury step. Honestly this product didn’t do anything for my face. Absolutely nothing !!! The only thing that I like about this is the scent and the fine mist that spray onto the face. Other than that there is nothing too major. Apparently it’s suppose to help with redness and hydrate but there are no results. Dr.Jart never disappoints but with this mist it was mediocre. I come to realize that mists is a waste of money and does not work in my opinion.

Restarting my Acne Journey
Hi all! This is a little vulnerable for me: I usually never post or go outside without at least a bit of makeup. BUT! I’m restarting my efforts to fix my acne with a new routine, and I know there’s a lot of people who struggle with this. So, here’s my face! I’ve been using DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel for two weeks now and the purging is starting, so hopefully this is the worst it will get. I’m hoping with continued use to see some progress and to track it here! I have experienced stinging and some severe sensitivity while my skin gets used to it, but after two weeks the stinging is dying down. I’ve been dealing with hormonal/cystic acne for 10 years now, and believe it or not this is the best it’s been in years. I’ve slowly figured out what works for me, and wanted to share those tips. BUT, if I’ve learned anything in the past ten years about acne it’s that you need to listen to your own face: even if 1000% swear by something, if it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t work for you. I have super oily skin, so if you have dry or combo, the listed routine will most likely not work. But for my oily pals, here’s the routine that’s improved my skin so far: Morning: FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser I love how calming and non-stripping this cleanser is, but it still manages to reduce my oil FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry to target acne scarring Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 to protect from sun damage and irritation. I HAVE TO use a gel formula for moisturizers/sunscreens, or else I break out like crazy. That’s the number one issue I’ve figured out with my face. This one has a nice gel cream texture and is lightly moisturizing, but doesn’t turn me into an oil slick. Night: First cleanse/makeup removal with GOOD MOLECULES - Instant Cleansing Balm Second cleanse with FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser Apply pea sized drop of DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel If my skin is feeling good and non-irritated, I use LANEIGE - Special Care Water Sleeping Mask for just a bit of moisture overnight If my skin is feeling irritated/tight, I’ll use GOOD MOLECULES - Squalane Oil for a heavier hit of moisture. If my skin is REALLY irritated, I follow with Dr. Jart+ - Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Mist to try and calm my skin down So here we go! Hoping to see some improvements next month. Trying my best to be patient and consistent this time, which is the hardest but most important part. Thanks for reading, and good luck on your acne journey! #CherieCreator #acne #pimples #acnecare #cysticacne #hormonalacne

💖UNDER $35💖 Life Changing Products For Sensitive Skin!
💖UNDER $35💖 Life Changing Products For Sensitive Skin!
To begin, I have incredibly sensitive skin and I am always hunting for products to moisturize, calm/comfort irritated skin, relieve redness, and strengthen & replenish the skin's moisture barrier. I started to use First Aid Beauty after hearing several people rave about how soothing this is to the skin and it is known as the drugstore alternative of La Mer. 💖💖 I've tried FAB's cream, masks and facial pads and I came to the conclusion: The brand is REALLY suitable for emergency repair of the skin. If you have sensitive skin like me, TRY IT! FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration- $34.00 for 6 oz This white gel-like repair cream can quickly soothe and calm the skin, making it a savior for dry-sensitive skin. My face always stings, itches, and becomes red during the change in seasons, but after using this ultra repair cream, my skin condition has significantly improved. It's incredibly hydrating and moisturizing as well. It really lives up to it's namesake as an "ultra repair" . It works better after it's emulsified. Add three drops of essential oil to a fingernail-sized amount of the repair cream, rub it between your palms, and massage it onto your face for better absorption.  FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask - $32 for 118ml It has a cool, jelly-like texture which doesn't irritate your skin. It's really cooling and comfortable on the skin and my skin feels smooth after using it. It's moisturizing and is suitable for dehydrated skin, allergy flares, and for skin repair after sun exposure. It's suitable for all skin types and also helps to improve uneven skin tone and other skin issues if you use it long-term. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads- $34.00 for 5.7cm These radiance pads can be used as a toner. Apply them evenly to the face after cleansing or apply to areas of acne. The pads contain fruit acid which helps in removing acne and acne marks. Other than being quite affordable-nearly everything in the line rings in at under $50, these products really work well on sensitive skin and left it feeling ultra-smooth. Have you tried this brand before? Let me know 🥰

Purito Cica sleeping mask
Purito Cica sleeping mask
I’ve been on such a sleeping mask kick lately; they’re just so good! They provide extra hydration (which is perfect during winter time), and depending on which one you get, can treat certain concerns! One that I’ve had a pleasure to try is dermide cica barrier sleeping pack from @purito_official What piqued my interest right away is that the mask has cica which is known for its calming, anti inflammatory properties. It’s actually one of my all time favorite ingredients, because of how well it works to calm down my skin. The mask utilizes the ingredient well; it’s actually the second ingredient after water, which shows that there’s a lot of it in the mask! The application is amazing. The mask has gel / cream hybrid texture that makes it spread easily and sink in quick. I found that it’s best used on top of a cream or a moisturizer. When used alone (as a night cream), it didn’t provide enough hydration for me personally. Lastly, I think this mask broke me out (I started getting a lot of closed comedowns when I was testing this out). I’m sad to say this because I actually enjoyed how it made my skin look and feel. The cica in it was definitely doing its job at calming any inflammation I had. I think the culprits might be coconut oil and possibly shea butter, both of which are also high on the list. . All in all, despite the fact that it broke me out, I think this is a great night mask. It felt good on the skin and did it’s job very well. If you’re looking for something calming and soothing, and coconut oil is not a problem for you, this might be worth a to try! . . . . (Gifted)PURITO - Dermide Cica Barrier Sleeping Pack

Hello, Calm Face Mask
ORIGINS-Hello, Calm Face Mask
First Laneige product which impressed me
First Laneige product which impressed me
Product claims: An overnight replenishing mask that delivers intense moisture to help soothe redness and strengthen the skin barrier for healthier, less stressed skin. Product target concerns: redness and dryness My experience: let me just tell you I never ever understood the hype behind laneige products because none of them worked for my skin. I had no expectations for this mask but OMG!! I got a deluxe size with one of my Sephora purchases and I wanted to pick up the full size only after one application! It’s so lightweight, so soothing, softening and I saw a lot of improvement in my skin redness. Also I used it for the the first time when I had an allergic reaction and I remember how my skin was so parched that night. It reduced my inflammation and really hydrated my skin. I use it twice a week and the consistency plus texture is really similar to summer fridays jet lag mask. Do I recommend this? Yes absolutely!! It’s an amazing dupe for SF jet lag Price: $34 for 2.0 oz

Redness, Irritation, Dryness From Damage Barrier
Redness, Irritation, Dryness From Damage Barrier
If you suffer from any of the above then you MUST try this! The PEACH & LILY - Overnight Star Sleeping Mask is one of my favorite products of 2019 🙌🏻 because it focuses on restoring your skins barrier when you sleep. Redness and Irritation is often due to a damaged skin barrier function and this product has so many amazing ingredients meant to combat these issues. In turn, your redness and irritation goes down and allows dryness to disappear. Hallelujah 🙌🏻 Therefore this is going to be amazing for all skin types but especially sensitive, irritated and dry skin. The texture as you can see is thick and rich and a little goes a LONG way - and no - it doesn’t turn your face blue 😂 At $43 I think it is well worth it considering this jar will last you easily 7 to 8 months or longer with nightly use. I love the minimal and clear packaging so you can see that beautiful blue color shine through. If I could give this 6 stars I would 💙
