My Go-To Mascaras
Let’s get right into business and let’s talk about ... mascaras! Who does not love a good and functional mascara? Well I am here to share with you all my top three for various occasions! First off let’s begin with the party animal of the bunch, MARIE DALGAR - Marie Dalgar Fiber Mascara Set which retails for $29.50 and you get the black wand to create a base, then the white wand to extend the fibers, and finally repeat the black wand once more. If you’re looking for the false lash look - repeat the steps! It’s such a dramatic looking mascara set and I recommend this K-beauty staple! I won this baby from The Beauty Spy giveaway but I am definitely buying this one when it’s done! Next, is the tarte - Maneater Mascara ($23.00) my everyday work mascara! I love that it does a nice natural looking eyelash appearance instead of overdoing it for work. I apply two coats for each eye with the help of an eyelash curler as well! I’m a weirdo and don’t apply to my bottom lash when I am at work but this one has such a full wand, that it can be done in one stroke! Tarte is great for sales and you can probably find this one for $10.00! Finally, we have our vacation URBAN DECAY - Perversion Mascara ! This travel size baby comes with me every time I’m leaving my home for a long or short trip! Full size retails for $25.00! This mascara is a lengthening AND volumizing, making it just right when you are going for a chill and fun look during vacay mode! It’s super black and easy to apply! These are my go-to mascaras and I stand by my choices! Hope you enjoy trying these in the future or now if you’re already using them! 🌞
Worth it? Lord Jones vs. Tarte & SDJ 🌞
I am going to review three different body lotions/creams to see which ones are the best bang for your dollar. Prices range from $60.00 to $20.00. LORD JONES - High CBD Formula Body Lotion is the most expensive item retailing at $60 for 1.69 fl oz of product. It’s a “luxurious lotion designed to be readily absorbed, creating a cooling sensation upon contact, and crafted to deliver unparalleled absorption in an extra strength formula,” according to the website. To me this sounds nice and everything but it’s just another above average lotion. It works great, feels nice on the skin, and has a faint floral scent. I was gifted this item by Cherie. tarte - Sugar Rush Cake Butter Whipped Body Butter is a huge tub of body cream retailing for $23.00 (10.58 oz)! It smells amazing and has a beautiful lavender tint to it! This cream is made with vitamin E, Shea butter, and sweet almond oil, making it outstanding for the body! I love smothering myself with this stuff post shower! It is so easy to apply and even though the container is large, there are smaller travel size options! This baby here is totally worth the month and I for sure recommend it! Finally, we have SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Bum Bum Cream which retails for $20.00 (2.5 oz) and can be found at a local Sephora. This item was gifted and oh boy am I so grateful I did! This body cream is a smell dupe for the preciously mentioned Tarte Cake Butter cream! This cream is meant to tighten and smooth the skin, so far I can say it does smooth skin but haven’t really checked for tightening. Currently, it’s winter and cold here in the east coast and all of these are helping maintain my smooth skin! The final verdict...the two items on the right are better than the most expensive one. You can get almost three of each of this items for the price of the one luxury body lotions. If you can afford it, by all means treat yourself or get the less expensive body creams! If you have tried these, let me know your thoughts.

Worth it? Gucci vs Urban Decay + Siero
Let me begin by saying this is my only luxury brand lipstick and I was only able to purchase it with one of my Cherie earned gift cards. Now I’m going to review my thoughts on these three lipsticks GUCCI - Rouge à Lèvres Mat Lipstick in shade Joanna Burgundy for $42.00. It’s a super lovely matte shade that looks incredibly elegant in the gold tube! The shade glides on so easily and even though it’s a dark shade does not need a lip liner if you have a steady hand. You can see a swatch on the second picture and it’s the first shade. We all know that when you wear matte shades they can get dry and start to flake around the corners. However, this shade is awesome and super long lasting. It’s a beautiful shade and I recommend it ONLY if you can manage based on your budget. Next we have siero - Jealousy Archive Plumper Tint Balm in shade Orchid retails for $19.00. I was gifted this item from Beauty Spy, a K beauty site. A super sheer lip products that changes colors once applied to your lips. If you have used Lipstick Queen it’s very similar to that shade based on pH level. If you need a hint of color you can use it and done or apply it over another matte shade to get some extra moisture. You can see the middle swatch in picture. The lip product bullet is magnetic which makes it feel super glam. Finally, we have the much talked about URBAN DECAY - Vice Lipstick Game Of Thrones Collection in shade White Walker, $19.00. Such a lovely shade (see the last swatch in the picture) that looks very similar to the Gucci shade. Honestly, I am not sure if this shade is being sold around anymore but if you do find it - get it cause it’s awesome! It’s such a smooth shade in a creamy texture. I think it’s worth it since it’s less than $20.00 and a limited edition item. In the end I think all three items are amazing and think all are worth the price. I would not have gotten the Gucci lipstick if I did not have a gift card available. If you have the budget - go for it, if not it’s okay too! I hope you all enjoyed my first edition of is it worth it! ✨✨✨

My Go-To Perfumes
I’m going to tell you a secret...this is actually my entire perfume collection 👀! You see when I love a scent I stick with it and don’t change scents for a while. Here are my top three favorite that I don’t plan on switching any time soon and I am about to tell you why! PRADA - CANDY Eau de Parfum has been my number one favorite for the last four years! I buy a new bottle each year around Christmas to make sure I have one ready for the incoming year. As you can tell by this bottle it’s almost an empty. This scent is so beautiful, if you have this perfume you get what I am saying! According to Sephora, this perfume belongs to “the fragrance family of warm and spicy, scent type is warm and sweet gourmands, and has white musks, benzoin, and caramel accords for key notes.” Pretty much all of my perfumes get compliments but since fhis one has been in my collection for the longest it’s got the most love! Not going to lie it’s pretty expensive at $126.00 but like I said if you shop early you can get a nice bundle package with the full size bottle. DOLCE&GABBANA - Light Blue Eau de Toilette retails for $104.00 for 3.3oz. This was gifted by my cousin last year because she wanted to shut me up about talking how lovely this scent was hahaha! So this is my partyyy scent because it’s so fun and fresh and just gets me in the mood to dance! It belongs to the “fresh fragrance family, has fresh citrus and fruits for scent type, and has citrus, apple, and bamboo for key notes,” according to Sephora. Finally my MARC JACOBS BEAUTY - Daisy Love is the newest item to my collection! I was able to buy this with one of my Cherie gift cards, it retails for $86.00 making it the least expensive of the three. This has been my go to scent for work, it’s soft enough to make me feel elegant and not over power others with my scent. It belongs to the floral family and has “crystallized cloudberries, daisy tree petals, cashmere musks, and driftwood as keynotes,” according to Sephora. It’s definitely an irresistible scent and I recommend this along with my other perfumes!

Product Claims vs My Thoughts - Frank Body
“Guess what? You’ll be naked in one minute,” that is Frank Body’s tag line for their frank body - Original Coffee Scrub ! It’s supposed to be the best body scrub of all time and I am here to say it’s pretty dang on close to being perfect! It claims to make skin look even, fight away breakouts, and soften skin! Those are mighty claims and so far I have seen two of those claims! Let’s begin with the basics: it only cost $16.95 for a huge bag of body scrub (7.05 oz). I started using it early January because my coworker kept recommended body scrubs and how they made her skin feel so soft. I now use it once a week, it’s recommended to be used every 2-3 days. I only use it once because the clean up takes time since the leftover coffee scrub gets on pretty much every crevice of your bathtub. Besides the clean up, this scrub smells and feels amazing. It’s so easy to use since you just take a handful, scrub your body, and wash away. You are meant to put extra attention on the areas with scars, stretch marks, and cellulite. Full disclosure - I do have scars on my body but they haven’t 100% healed so I do not feel comfortable doing this step yet. Now when I say you practically get instant results in an instant, you do! After scrubbing some of this on your body - you feel how soft it can be! I feel like it evens skin and softens at the same time. The only item I was unsure about was clearing breakouts since I do not have body breakouts and can’t say whether that claim is true or not. All other claims are just as they say and I’m officially a huge body scrub fan! FYI - if the smell of coffee affects you, than this is probably not the right body scrub for you. But if you’re a fan of coffee, enjoy!

Product claims vs my thoughts - One Love
Are you a makeup lover? Do you dread having to wipe away your makeup at the end of the day? Well then you need to try this ONE LOVE ORGANICS - botanical b enzyme Cleansing Oil and Makeup Remover! I got this sample from a giveaway prize but the full size retails for $42.00 (4 oz.). Honestly, I do not know where I have been this entire time because this stuff is amazing! Before I would use makeup wipes, micellar water, and toner to ensure my face was clean. This items that claim to be a “multi-tasking, lifting away impurities and makeup while restoring skin’s natural moisture barrier and pH balance,” according to One Love Organics online. Now I feel like I wipe away my makeup in mere seconds! It most definitely is both a cleansing oil and makeup remover 👍🏼. It’s so non-stripping that it feels like I never had makeup on to begin with 👍🏼. And finally it leaves my skin feeling extra soft 👍🏼. Like I said this cleanser item is amazing and everything it claims works like a charm! Just as a reminder I have oily combo skin and this item works great for all skin types. You can use this on its own or as the first step of a double cleansing routine! Do you all use cleansing oils? If so, let me know which ones you use. 🙂

Which concealer is more worth it? Tarte & Undone
Preface: I love both of these concealers for different reasons and situations. I’m putting them head to head to show more options in the concealer world than shape tape 😉 I love a good sheer coverage concealer for daily use, but sometimes I need coverage for full glam looks. These concealers are awesome for different reasons but which one is more worth it? Products: tarte - Shape Tape Concealer UNDONE BEAUTY - CONCEAL TO REVEAL 3-IN-1 COVERAGE PALETTE Price Point: Tarte: $27 for .33oz Undone: $14 for .32oz ($10 at target) Coverage: Tarte: full coverage, able to be sheered out to medium coverage with a beauty sponge Undone: this is a unique product in that it has 3 different formulas within the palette itself: the top section is a sheer formula, the middle section is a medium formula, and the bottom section is a full coverage OPAQUE formula. You can use your fingers but I find it quite unhygienic so I end up using a spatula to apply it to my face & then blend out with a brush. Accessibility: Tarte: available at Ulta & Tarte website Undone: available at Target & Undone website Scent: Both have a clay-like scent but nothing overpowering. Overall thoughts: Overall, these are both great products. I really only use the Tarte shape tape when I’m going for a full coverage look. The undone beauty palette is so versatile so I can use it in any situation. Additionally, my skin type is dry so I find the Tarte formula to be SUPER drying even if applied over a hydrating primer. For this reason, I think both are worth their price points but would recommend the Undone Beauty palette over shape tape.

My go-to lip products 💋
I have fairly sensitive skin, so I tend to gravitate toward tinted lip balms instead of lip products. However, these products are my favorite when it comes to lip products that aren’t balms! Here’s how I use each product: FENTY BEAUTY - Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer my go-to for fancy events. Now this is a HYPED product, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t worth the hype! I got this mini size in a Christmas kit and I’ve loved it ever since. It’s not goopy at all and lasts at least a couple of hours. The smell is heavenly, like a creme brûlée! It’s a bit pricey at $19 for .3oz but I would recommend everyone try it at least once! To keep mine from running out immediately, I only wear it to events like weddings or “dress up” events to make sure my lips look amazing for hours. 5/5 iNNBEAUTY PROJECT - Glaze #1 lip oil my favorite lip gloss to wear at work Being completely transparent, I received this as a gift. But that doesn’t change the fact that I’ve bought 2 replacements already! The Lip Glaze #1 is my go-to for my casual work day. It smells like cherries and doesn’t leave a weird goopy feeling on your lips! It has an amazing, subtle red tint that’s not too opaque but not too transparent either. It’s super hydrating too! I love it for on-the-go when I’m in a rush as well. It’s a little pricey and not fully accessible as it’s only available on their website, but highly recommend as they’re an indie brand and their branding is ON POINT! It costs $15 for .17oz. I have to rate it 5/5 for overall experience. essence - Soft Contouring Lipliner my favorite lip liner for daily wear. As I’ve gotten older, my natural lip line/definition has faded a little bit so I’m newer to the lip liner scene. However, I picked this up at Ulta for $2.50–YEP YOU READ THAT RIGHT! This pencil has such a great formula for staying power but can get a bit drying if you’re not prepping with a lip balm. I love using this daily to define my lip line without it looking too crazy—the shade “going steady” is my perfect lip color. I love that it’s available at Ulta so you can earn/redeem rewards on it! 5/5

BEST OF: Hair Oil 🏆
My awards for hair oil... My hair is usually a 2C-3A curl pattern but when it is bleached or colored it leans 2B. It’s also pretty thick... I have a LOT of hair! Because it is currently bleached/damaged/dry, I constantly have a hair oil on hand depending on what I need—all 3 of these are my go-to’s depending on how frizzy/dry I am. 🏆 The best “fix this now!!” oil sexyhair - Healthy Moisturizing Love Oil This oil and I have a relationship stronger than my engagement...and I’m getting married this year!! I seriously this is a great thick oil that doesn’t weigh down your curls too much and won’t rub off on your face or clothes. I usually put a pump of this in my damp palm and run it through my hair starting with my ends. At first, it will be heavy but within 5-10 mins you look good as new girlfriend ❤️ HSH is such an affordable brand and you can try out this mini for yourself for $9 at Ulta!! I take it everywhere I go! 🏆 The best scalp + hair oil The Ordinary - 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil This oil gets an honorable mention because I put it in my hair and scalp the night before I wash to nourish my scalp and make sure I don’t over-dry my scalp with my treatments I use on it on wash day. It’s also a good stand in for the love oil when I’m out of that! It’s thicker like the love oil but my hair eats it UP! It’s $9.90 at Ulta, you can’t go wrong! 🏆 The best lightweight “everyday” oil ogx - Nourishing Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist Before we begin: this stuff has a stale smell to it. It’s like stale but coy. It’s weird. HOWEVER. This is the only oil I can use on my hair that doesn’t leave my hands feeling drenched in oil afterwards!! It’s SO lightweight and absorbs very fast. However I believe if you had thicker or curlier hair than me, it would take half of a bottle to get enough shine from this stuff. I also love that the packaging includes a spray so I can disperse it more evenly through my ends when I need it. It is marketed as weightless and honestly feels weightless...I love it. And the coconut oil ingredient does not cause breakouts in my face. Woo!! It’s also $9 at Ulta (see a pattern here?) so I highly recommend! Do you have any favorites that I haven’t listed here? And recommendations?

Key ingredients: Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask
Ok, ok, ok, I see the comments about this already but I feel like this is the perfect product to run an ingredient breakdown on. SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask The basics: It costs $48 for 2.25oz which is kind of pricey for a mask but hear me out. Jet Lag has many highlighted ingredients but vitamin c, niacinamide, and chestnut extract are the ingredients we’ll be focusing on today. The most frustrating part of this mask for me is that it’s advertised as a hydrating mask but honestly it works best for me as an overnight brightening and tightening mask, and I’ll explain why. The ingredient claims: Vitamin C (in the form of citric acid): a powerful antioxidant to brighten skin tone Niacinamide: reduce pores, control excess oil/sebum production Chestnut seed extract: natural exfoliant It’s advertised as a hydrating mask but it’s far from hydrating if you ask me. When used alone as a moisturizer or moisture booster it actually makes my skin flakey and dry. It works best for me when used over a super light facial oil like squalane as an overnight mask! It locks everything in and I wake up with brighter, tighter skin without it being incredibly dry. It is advertised to work on all skin types for hydration. I love using this mask as least twice a week when my skin is feeling “out of wack” or I have redness or breakouts. Honestly I don’t even use it for hydration! The blend of the key ingredients makes this a powerhouse I use consistently in my routine and will continue to do so until my tube is empty. I’m about halfway through it after 2-3 months of consistent use. I see SO many mixed reviews of this mask and I understand why—its just marketed incorrectly. I understand how this can be marketed as a hydrating mask for oily skin due to the niacinamide content that will help oil control but marketing it as hydrating for dry skin is wack. I highly recommend getting a sample at Sephora to try it out in this way! You’ll notice it has a silky smooth texture but it doesn’t sit on top of the skin—it’s extremely lightweight. I have to rate it 4/5 stars for my overall experience. I’m in love with this mask but the marketing/messaging associated with it is misleading and the company should urge consumers to get creative with it.

Brand Spotlight: Milk Makeup
Products I’ll be reviewing: Glow Oil in Glimmer Cooling Water Stick Lip Vinyl in Facts Milk Makeup has been one of my all time favorite makeup brands for YEARS. I legit still have their hair dryer and hero salve they sold maybe 3-4 years ago!! Milk has always been a source of inspiration for me as a leader in diversity and being REAL and YOURSELF...and being weird. Which I am!! There are a ton of their products that I absolutely hate but they have been decluttered many moons ago so this is what we have today 🌚 I’ve also already reviewed their flex concealer so I won’t be including that here (but it’s my all time fav concealer so...) Milk MAKEUP - Lip Vinyl - Facts Honestly, fresh tubes of lip vinyl are what dreams are made of! After about 3-4 months of use, the formula just goes BAD. It goes from a lightweight full coverage lip gloss to a clumpy mess. I literally loved this lip product like a son until it went bad. I’m legit throwing out this product after I post this review. I got it on sale for $9 and TBH I’m still mad I even bought it. Milk MAKEUP - Cooling Water I love the heck out of this product...but for different reasons than others probably! In the past I’ve tried to use this under my eyes as a “depuffer” but it just causes my makeup to pill and is overall a bad time. It causes a cooling sensation wherever applied for a short period of time. However...I love using this on my neck on hot summer days!!! I use it on the back of my neck and under my chin. I have a full size stick in my travel bag and this one at home as an emergency backup. It’s honestly perfect for long hot days at Disney and Universal. But I don’t enjoy putting it on my face. Milk MAKEUP - Glow Oil Lip + Cheek Saving the BEST for LAST! Omg. Don’t get me wrong, I love the regular lip+cheek by milk but this one gives you such a hydrating glow whereas the regular formula dries me out and gives me crazy texture. I never apply stick products directly to my face due to hygiene and bacteria and this works perfectly on the back of my hand & dotting it on my face with my fingers from there to better control pigment and placement. -*wash your hands before this please lol*- This one is in the shade Glimmer and I must disclose that it was sent to me as a gift from Milk last year when they launched. Honestly their stick products last forever so I can always justify the price: this one costs $15 for a small tube and has lasted me over a year. I highly recommend swatching it in Sephora! It’s an interesting sheer texture that I’m not sure some will like. Also, some of them have little pieces of glitter in them I believe! What are you faves from Milk?

Key ingredients: The Inkey List Sea Kelp Serum
You may or may not have seen a ton of hype about this product on Instagram. THE inkey LIST - Sea Kelp Serum It costs $10 and has 2 highlighted ingredients: sea kelp extract and a malachite mineral complex. It’s a pretty simple ingredient list so I thought I would test it out in my routine for a couple of weeks. The ingredient claims: -Sea kelp extract: reduce and protect the skin from environmental pollutants -Malachite mineral complex: detoxify skin & deliver antioxidants It’s a lightweight serum advertised to work on all skin types for anti-aging benefits. Unfortunately this serum really set off my skin. When I’m trying to new product I use a basic routine full of products I know don’t irritate my skin so I KNOW the new product is the culprit. This caused a series of tiny bumps around my eye area and whiteheads on my forehead which is so random. I also must mention the smell...god, it’s awful. It smells like dirt, very earthy but in the worst way. When I used this serum I applied it after my hyaluronic acid serum but before any facial oils or moisturizers. Honestly if you have tough skin and aren’t sensitive to natural ingredients this will probably work great for you. It’s $10 for 1oz so you won’t be losing a lot of money if you end up not liking it, but it’s risky if you’re more on the sensitive skin train like me. I have to rate it 2/5 stars for my overall experience, however the price point is good and it absorbs well into the skin. Another product that did not live up to the hype.
