Drunk Elephant Empties 🐘
I think I got these products as part of the Sephora birthday special last year and finally got around to trying them! In general, I think DE is an overrated, overpriced brand. I’m not a fan of how they handled their response to BLM, nor their customer service. But that being said, I tried to be honest and fair about reviewing these products. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream
Texture: it is a cream, but it does not feel very heavy or sticky. I would compare the texture to in between a cream and a lotion.
Scent: this product didn’t smell like anything to me and does not have fragrance.
Application: the travel/sample size comes in a little jar with a screw-on lid. I washed out and am keeping the empty jar to store creams when I travel.
Results: I used this nightly as my PM moisturizer. It feels very smooth and silky on the face and kept my face hydrated throughout the night. It didn’t aggravate my acne or cause additional breakouts, but I did notice some stinging on my neck a few times when I applied it there—so I’m taking 1 star off since I experienced a little irritation. I think it’s a nice moisturizer that is occlusive without being too heavy, but I won’t be repurchasing as I’m not sure how much I buy into the peptides marketing, and the price for the full size (almost $70 for 1.69 oz) is ridiculous in my opinion 🤷🏻♀️ I personally think there are many cheaper and better moisturizers out there.DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample
Texture: the texture is a gloopy, clear gel. It’s comparable to a shampoo or body wash.
Scent: this product doesn’t have fragrance, but it smells very plastic-y to me.
Application: the travel/sample size comes in a tube with a twist-top. You twist the lid and there is a small hole in the center of the lid that opens to release the product. I was not a fan of the packaging. I had to prop the tube on its side instead of upright when I wasn’t using it because the lid is not 100% airtight—so a little bit of product would leak out of the hole and onto my bathroom counter if I left the tube upright (even if the lid was twisted closed).
Results: I used this product 1x/day as a PM face wash and it was so drying. After I washed my face, my skin would feel super tight and dry and like I had to immediately moisturize. After a few weeks, I stopped using this on my face and ended up finishing the bottle as a body wash. Maybe for very oily skin it would be okay, but it was way too stripping for me. Again, will not be repurchasing, especially due to the high price tag for the full size ($32 for 5 oz).

nikaabeautysuper useful!! can it be applied to sensitive skin?
mikachuThanks for reading! 😊 Hmmm I have combo, acne prone, sensitive skin. It was fine on my face, but like I said, I did experience some stinging on my neck. Honestly, unless you like luxury skincare products, I wouldn’t recommend dropping $70 on a 1.7 oz moisturizer, but that’s just me! I know this cream is a cult favorite for many people 🤷🏻♀️

Tube of Garbage 🗑
PLEASE READ!!! As you may remember I incorporated this product Bestie No.9 glycerin cleanser from @drunkelephant a while back into my cleansing regimen. I used it maybe one to two times a week when I forgot to bring my usual cleanser into the shower with me, this was my back up! And just recently for last month I stopped using it for some reason. Tonight I saw a lot of post about this on @cherie how it gave so many break outs and cystic acne and they are still recovering from all the damage. It occurred to me this was it. It was the only thing that I have stopped using and now no more new acne or worse the cystic acne. Never had cystic acne in my life till I started using this. Worst Korean skincare product ever! I said goodbye to this tube of garbage today. I know it’s hard for us to throw out the expensive makeup and skincare products we buy sometimes lucky for me this was a rewards gift item @sephora so no money wasted. Ahhh! Wait! I’ll take that back because now days I’m having to buy products to help with the scarring it gave. Lesson learned: if it doesn’t work for you just toss it. Save your pretty skin. I haven’t ever had acne like what I experienced in the last few months! Thanks my @cherie beauties! Now days Instagram isn’t about real reviews so much anymore it’s more about influencing ppl to buy products that are not what they say they really are. I will always keep my thoughts real and post about the good and bad. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample

✨Not A Drunk Elephant Dupe, But Still Great!✨
You may have seen this product compared to the DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Creambut I am here to tell you that it is not a dupe at all. There’s just too much variation between the formulas for these to be considered similar products. The only thing these two products really have in common is that they both moisturize the skin and they have similar packaging. I have never tried the DE moisturizer but I do really like this one by TIL. In my experience TIL moisturizer is a very lovely night cream as it is pretty rich. I do have slightly drier skin so I can get away with using this in the morning as well without it leaving me greasy. But if you have more oily skin, I would avoid this in the morning. The consistency is a creamy, semi-thick texture. It glides over the skin easily and evenly. It absorbs quickly and leaves a shiny finish on the skin. It feels extremely nourishing and hydrating on the skin and my skin always looks healthy and plump when I wake up in the morning. This moisturizer is marketed as an anti-aging cream but I personally haven’t seen any long-lasting results from using this. It definitely plumps the skin and provides short-term results, but not really anything beyond that. It is also fragrance-free (YAY!). ✨Noteworthy Ingredients✨ 2% Royal Epigen — increases speed of skin renewal; skin-smoothing Hexapeptide — hydrating; strengthens skin barrier; increases collagen production Glycerin — hydrating humectant Overall, I do enjoy this moisturizer. I think it is very good, especially for the price tag. It retails for £14.99/18.99 CAD/14.99 USD for 50 mL. If you are interested in this, I think it is definitely worth it! THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer
2nd Week On Differin: Retinization
Daily Use and Irritation: I switched to using Differin daily during my second week. I noticed my skin was getting slightly more irritated. This irritation is known as retinization, which is normal when starting topical retinoids. My face was red, irritated, and itchy. I also started purging near my chin, but those breakouts resolved relatively quickly. The irritation peaked around the time I started daily use, but has since subsided. I was definitely expecting a worse retinization reaction, since my skin is pretty sensitive; however, the irritation wasn’t as uncomfortable as I anticipated. How I Dealt with Irritation: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! I don’t think it’s possible to over-moisturize your skin while using topical retinoids. I also recommend applying differin over your moisturizer to reduce any irritating effects. I was using the DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream, but I felt like it was too light of a consistency. I ended up running out of the Protini Polypeptide during this time, so I switched over to using DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream. The Lala Retro Whipped Cream has a much richer consistency than the Protini Polypeptide, and it leaves my skin feeling super soft in the morning after PM application. I also started used the THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balmas a 10 minute face mask to help soothe and moisturize my irritated skin.
Drunk Elephant Initiation🐘
*I have used the two products as my night routine. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream After using this moisturizer a couple times, I’m a little underwhelmed. It’s lightweight and fragrance-free which I love, but it’s more gelly than creamy and doesn’t leave my skin as moisturized as one would expect from such a high end brand. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser This cleanser on the other hand is BOMB. It’s smoooth, like butter😂 It leaves my skin so soft and it rinses well. I just massage it onto my skin while it’s dry and rinse in the shower. I prefer using it with a scrub for the best exfoliating experience.

THOUGHTS ON FARMACY’S CLEAN BEE CLEANSER
FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser I’ve been using this cleanser for about 5 months now. Here are my thoughts so far: OVERALL OPINION: It is definitely gentle on my skin. I’ve used cleansers before that left dry patches on my cheeks & forehead area or that left my skin feeling tight. This cleanser didn’t dry out my face at all, but it also didn’t leave my skin feeling more hydrated/bright like other brands [Boscia’s cleanser is really good for this specifically!]. It has a nice texture & melts onto the skin easily. This is definitely one of my favorite cleansers I’ve tried thus far, but not a HG product. USE: I use this after removing my makeup with a makeup wipe. It helps break down any makeup or excess residue still on my face. I only need a small pump of product to remove everything. SCIENCE: The cleanser’s key ingredients include amino acids, sugar, coconut, honey, hylauronic acid, aloe, & chamomile. Honey is known for its anti/bacterial & moisturizing properties which makes it a perfect ingredient to include in a cleanser. Aloe contains antioxidants, vitamins A and C, and is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. This means that is very gentle on the skin & can help with inflammation of the skin [surface-level acne especially!] Chamomile has very similar properties. It is known for its high level of antioxidants & anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it a great ingredient to those with acne or with sensitive skin. VALUE: This cleanser is $28 at Sephora. That’s a pretty average price for a good cleanser & it’s lasted me SEVERAL months, so you get a good amount of product for what you’re paying for. I’d definitely use this cleanser in the future, but once this bottle is done I think I’ll try YTTP’s cleanser next.

Drunk elephant - moisturizer and jelly cleanser!
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream I’ve only tried a handful of drunk elephant products because they can be really expensive. However, I’ve found that DE’s jelly cleanser works so good - it leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. It’s unscented and pH balanced. It removes all the dirt and makeup and leaves the skin feeling clean and purified. My skin can be sensitive at times, and is prone to breakouts, and this product definitely helps. DE’s polypeptide moisturizer is a pretty decent moisturizer, however, I’m not sure I’ll be willing to break bank on a DE moisturizer for every day use. It is really good for sensitive skin, is unscented and is definitely hydrating, but I’m certain there are other similar moisturizers for a fraction of the price. But that’s just my opinion.

Youth to the People Empties 🍃
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser I was looking for a gentle cleanser and bought this sample-sized bottle after hearing Hyram rave about this product. I also have a friend with oily skin who loves this cleanser. Texture - the texture is the same consistency as a shampoo or liquid soap, and becomes a foamy lather when you rub it onto your face. Scent - I actually quite enjoyed the scent of this product. It does not contain synthetic fragrance, but it smells like a green smoothie. Application - YTTP packages their products in glass bottles and jars, which I appreciate from a sustainability standpoint. But it does make this product a little risky to use if you wash your face in the shower. I accidentally dropped my bottle in the shower once—it didn’t shatter, but it chipped a piece of enamel off of my bathtub 😐 Other than that, the product was easy to pour out of the bottle. Results - I wasn’t a huge fan of this product. It didn’t cause any breakouts or irritation, but every time after I used it, my face would feel tight and dry, and I felt like I would have to immediately moisturize. I think it was too harsh for my sensitive skin, but people with oily or more resilient skin might like this. Would not repurchase for myself, I ended up finishing this product off as a body wash 🤷🏻♀️ YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi I received this mini jar as a sample in one of my Sephora orders. Texture - the texture is a slightly whipped cream. It reminds me of Cool Whip in the tub, but slightly thicker in consistency. Scent - like the cleanser, this also does not have synthetic fragrance, but I’m not sure how to describe the scent? It kind of smelled like flour mixed with baby powder to me, but it wasn’t too overpowering or obvious. Application - this comes in a glass jar. Results - I felt very neutral about this product. I saw that some people experienced irritation due to sensitivity to the mushrooms in this product, but I didn’t experience any. It moisturized my face fine, but felt no different than an average drugstore moisturizing cream. Given this and the fact that the price for the full-sized jar is rather high, I would not repurchase. If you end up trying this product out, I suggest patch testing to be sure that you don’t have a sensitivity to the mushrooms. Hope this helps! I know Hyram and a lot of other people love this brand, and I appreciate their commitment to sustainability. However, I felt pretty meh about both of these products and am not super interested in anything else from them at this point in time.
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE-Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi
A little too harsh for me
Let me start by saying I love Farmacy products so I was super excited to try this cleanser. It’s marketed as an ultra gentle smoothing facial cleanser that cleans the skin while still moisturizing with ingredients like honey and hyaluronic acid. It’s ok for normal, combo, and oily skin types and has a thin gel texture. Overall I enjoyed using this product, it was very refreshing with a light honey/natural scent. My issue with it is that it stripped my skin too much and also burned my eyes a little. I have combo skin and look for a cleanser that’s a little more gentle on my skin. The price point is pretty pricey ($28 for the 5 oz at Sephora) so I would highly encourage trying a sample before buying this one since it is a little more expensive. I did end up using this cleanser up but there are others I enjoy more. I give this product a 4/5 stars.
FARMACY-Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser
The cleanser for all
You’ve heard the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser raves about, so here I am adding to the fanfare! This cleanser is super duper gentle on my dry skin which I love, but still leaves my skin feeling clean. Plus it smells like a yummy green juice! Should you try this? Yes, if you have a face you need to try this. It’s magic for all skin types! This cleanser has green tea which is perfect for dry, irritated or inflamed skin. But you can definitely use this with oily skin too as it leaves your skin feeling super fresh, clean, and not too oily. It does a great job as a second cleanse and helps remove any leftover makeup and oil. I’m a big fan of YTTP in general because they are ethical in their model. They donate to a lot of organizations important to me and are a huge supporter of the LGBTQ community. They are a CF and vegan brand as well so no animal testing or animal byproducts for all the animal lovers out there! The glass bottles are 100% recyclable and they offer a large refill bottle as well which is great! The bottle also makes a cute vase as well 😏
