🧼Rebuilding My Moisture Barrier💧🤍
It’s always a balancing act when it comes from skincare. 😅 at least for me! Haha 💧I’ve had adult acne and have acne-primed skin, so when it comes to finding the right products that don’t over-strip my skin but also keep my breakouts & acne under control...you could say it’s been a journey! 💧If you saw one of my recent posts about my retinol breakout 😪 I’m back to familiar territory aka flaky, dry, inflamed skin aka my moisture barrier is damaged. And with the colder months, I’ve been spending more time trying to repair it. 💧These are some of the products that have been helping me: 🧴COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence : I recently purchased this essence and have really loved the effects. I use it after cleansing and find that it helps when I use it when my skin is still damp! It’s made my skin so soft & since it’s an essence, it allows for my other products to penetrate deeper into my skin. I will say, for those who are not really familiar with essences (especially this one), many often have a gel-like texture that isn’t super typical in some products (slightly sticky & for this one, slimy). 🧴CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin : my tried and true!!! I’ve been layering this product on, especially at night after the essence. Day or night, this lotion is a must-have in my book. It doesn’t feel oily on my skin and the hyalauronic acid is such a bonus since this an ingredient that helps draw in moisture into the skin. 🧴Krave - The Beet Shield : WORTH THE HYPE! Love Krave Beauty and I LOVE the Beet Shield. The texture is amazing, super light and dried down pretty quickly without a white cast. It makes me WANT to put on sunscreen and not just feel like I NEED to. 〰️After cutting back on the steps in my routine, and feeling& seeing results, I’ve been reintroducing these products for gentler exfoliation!〰️ 🧼CLARISMA - Cali Dreaming Cream Daily Moisturizer : the Clarisma moisturizer is super light and something I’ll typically wear during the day. It’s gentle and I like to wear it on days I’m inside especially since it is a lighter moisturizer and when I’m outside in the cold, I prefer something heavier. 🧼CLARISMA - Malibu Blush Exfoliating Scrub : the most gentle exfoliator! The exfoliating scrub isn’t at all like other physical exfoliants. The Luffa fruit breaks down when you use it so no micro tears with this one. The enzymes used also provide such a gentler exfoliation unlike most harsh acids. It also doesn’t cause hyperpigmentation, which I’ve experienced in the past with acids. 🏹Let me know what’s helped you with repairing or protecting your moisture barrier! 🤍
Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 4
Hey ya’ll! In part 4 of Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines we’re reviewing @Raks and @juliachristine’s skincare routines. Starting with @Rakswho reached out to me via Cherie message because she started skincare about a year ago because of her upcoming wedding. She starts by cleansing with theThursday Plantation - Tea Tree Face Wash Foam which costs $8.99 for 5.1 fl oz. This cleanser is very basic. It has tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil. My issue is with the eucalyptus oil, which is a very irritating essential oil right up there with lemon oil and peppermint oil. If this doesn’t irritate your skin then it’s a great cleanser, but I can’t recommend it to those with sensitive skin. Then she goes in with 4 serums. First is thepura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum which costs $14.99 for 4 fl oz. This is a really good serum. It has aloe vera juice, glycerin, jojoba oil, and argan oil which are hydrating ingredients, and then it has hylaronic acid, retinol, and Vitamin C. I love it! Then she uses#The Ordinary - Nicinamide Serum[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $5.90 for 1 fl oz. We’ve talked a lot about this serum, it’s very good. Next is the#Tree Of Life - Hylaronic acid serum[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $10.95 for 1 fl oz. I don’t like this serum. It started off good with hylaronic acid, aloe vera juice, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, but it contains way too many Essential oils and irritating extracts. And her final serum is theSkinMedica - LYTERA 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum which costs $130.90 for 2 fl oz, which is very expensive. This is not worth the price. It has nicinamide and glycerin, and then some not very researched acids. I don’t recommend continuing use of this serum. Then to moisturize she goes in with theOLAY - Regenerist Regenerating Day Cream which costs $29.99 for 1.7 fl oz. I don’t like this moisturizer. Let’s start with some positives. It has nicinamide, glycerin, and Vitamin B3. Now it has a lot of bad ingredients also. It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is a harsh cleansing agent, as well as fragrance being the 6th ingredient. The she uses a Neutrogena sunscreen, and occasionally usesThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which costs $7.20 for 1 fl oz. This is a great exfoliant. I think @Raks is using too many serums. I would stick to only the Pura D’or and The Ordinary serum, and ditch the other two. Keep the cleanser, and maybe try a different moisturizer. You asked for mineral sunscreen reccomendations for dark skin tones that don’t have a white cast, so I got you girl! I have light skin, but I did some research and I’d recommend the#First Aid Beauty - Weightless Mineral SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $34 for 1.5 fl oz, and the #Biossance - Squalane Zinc Sheer SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $30 for 1.7 fl oz. Both of these have minimal white cast, and Skincare by Hyram recommends them. Next is @juliachristine’s night routine. She starts off by cleansing with the #Vanicream - Unscented Gentle Cleanser[products]#[ThreeStars] witch costs $8.99 for 8 fl oz. This a nice basic cleanser with glycerin. Next she uses the#OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $84 for .7 fl oz. This cream has tretinoin which is a Vitamin A derivative which can treat acne, as well as retinol which also Vitamin A. I don’t think it’s worth the price, but it’s okay. Next she uses the #The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%[products]#[FourStars] which costs $7.99 for 1 fl oz. Along with azelaic acid, it has dimethicone which is a great moisturizer for dry skin. Next she uses theCeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which costs $17.99 for 15 fl oz. Y’all know I love this product! Finally she finishes off with theVERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream witch costs $17.99 for .5 fl oz. Eye cream is definitely not necessary but this one is great! It has glycerin, algae extract, and olive oil which are hydrating, along with shea butter and a blend of peptides which can help firm the skin and increase collagen production which can help reduce fine lines around the eyes. Overall @juliachristine your routine looks great! That’s it for this post please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment your opinions on these products, and follow me for similar content. Upcoming posts include a 1 month Curology review and unnecessary skincare steps you don’t need. -Mae
Pretty good... but DEF not for facial skin :/
When I initially bought this I was using it on my face at the end of my PM skincare routine. I thought it would help with some acne scars I had and it promised non-comedogenic ingredients so I figured I’d give it a shot. First of all, the more I added the less I felt I had on my face. It’s already a pretty thin oil so it didn’t layer on top of my products very well. It even felt like I was removing some of my absolute fav hydration products (like CeraVe - Healing Ointment review to come maybe) and left me feeling very barefaced in the morning where I would normally be dewy. Secondly, it did not help my acne scars at all. I saw no real benefits to my skin, not even a glowy look :( there were no textural, pigment, or hydrating benefits that facial oils usually have. HOWEVER I have been mixing this oil with CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin (just your classic, lightweight body lotion) and it has been adding to the softness of my skin. I usually prep my showers by dry brushing and then finish with this moisture combo and it has been the 💣. It also mixes very easily and helps make good use of both of the products. Probably will not repurchase but not bad for $5.

CeraVe product intolerance/sensitivity??
Hi everyone! I have sensitive, acne prone skin and recently I’ve been trying to find the best moisturizer for those concerns. I read a lot on this app about CeraVe products and they sounded like they’d be perfect for my skin (and in my price range). But so far I’ve tried two products and my skin has reacted badly to both of them. First I tried the CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotionand it burned my skin and caused more redness and irritation. Then I tried CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skinand was super excited to find it didn’t burn my skin or cause redness. However after a few days of using this product, I started to get some fungal acne for the first time ever in my life, which is really confusing because I thought this moisturizer was supposed to be acne safe? Has anyone else had a bad reaction to CeraVe moisturizers? Please let me know and leave sensitive skin moisturizer recommendations in the comments! 👇

The best products for dry/sensitive skin! :)
These two products are honestly a life saver. They are gentle but they work so well! CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This lotion is lightweight, and it feels so good on your face! It doesn’t have a smell to it, and the texture is so rich! I would rate this a 4/5 only because if your skin is super dry it will take a lot of uses to see results CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser This is my favorite facial cleanser! It doesn’t have any harsh chemicals in it, it doesn’t strip your face, it just leaves your face feeling clean and soothed! I would rate this a 5/5! :) I would recommend these products to probably anyone. It doesn’t make my face oily, so even people with oily/combo skin (like myself) can use it! And it’s really gentle, so those with sensitive skin won’t have a reaction to it!

Honest Review: La Roche-Posay Moisturizer
LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30 After fully finishing my previous Neutrogena moisturizer (which I will review later on another post) l wanted to explore more options so I went to my nearest Ulta and noticed the small section containing all the La Roche-Posay products. I knew this brand was good from reading previous reviews about it so I decided to get their Double Face Repair Moisturizer, the one without sunscreen. The first time trying this moisturizer it felt good on the skin. It has a very good creamy texture. But after trying it for the second and third time I noticed that it made my face extremely dewy, almost shiny. I like to see my skin dewy after a moisturizer but this effect lasted for the whole day. Even my boyfriend mentioned that my skin looked a little bit too shiny. Maybe because this moisturizer was not meant to be used on oily skin like mine? I only picked this product because it promised to repair my face, which you could say it did since it has absolutely no scent and it is not irritating at all. The ingredient list seems amazing for acne prone skin but It just feels very heavy on my already naturally dewy shiny oily skin. This would be great for those with dryer skin. I would recommend this product to people with very sensitive and healing skin, those who need to repair their skin barrier. This brand leans more on the medical side of skin care focusing on repairing damaged or acne prone skin. Would I use this again? Yes, but in the winter when the weather is dryer and my skin gets a little bit more sensitive. I have a full bottle and fall and winter is approaching so I might as well finish it.

This moisturizer duo changed my life🤭 Dry skin has always been a concern, and this moisturizer is a balanced solution to skin dryness/irritability. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This is a fantastic daily moisturizer. I use this as a part of my am & pm skincare routine to ensure my skin stays hydrated. The only thing this moisturizer is missing? SPF 🤪 CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 Okay so for my whole life I have refused to wear sunscreen on my face because I associate it with making my skin oily/breakout prone. This SPF moisturizer changed everything. It is a staple part of my routine on sunny days, and I’m hoping to be better about incorporating it on not-so-sunny days. While it looks opaque and requires a bit of rubbing in - once massaged into skin it is very lightweight and mattifying. My favorite thing to do is combine it with a bit of concealer for coverage 👀

My skin from 01/01/19 to 01/01/20
I had acne ever since the age of 14. None was really bad until last year in January where my skin was uncontrollable. I formed dry eczema in some area of my skin and extremely oily in other parts. I went to dermatologist and was on accutane with acne treatments but nothing really worked. I decided to research the ingredients in the product. Suprisingly so many allergen warning products were on most of the skin care I was using. Now my routine is dhc oil cleanser, makep:em safe me cleanser, the lab blanc toner, be plain cicaful ampoule, and First aid beauty ultra repair moisturizer with some benzoyl peroxide and the body shop teatree night mask now and then. What i got off from this experience is to always check the ingredients of what you are buying!!! Fyi: first aid beauty moisturizer can clog your pores if you use too much. Only use dime size amount.
