Chicken Skin Be Gone!
For years I have struggled with “chicken skin” on my upper arms and chest. There were times that it was so bad that I was bullied and called a “chicken” both for my chicken-like skin and my acne (my acne resembled chicken pox at times). After a while I came to accept it as part of my skin. Until recently! These pictures were taken approximately five weeks apart. As you can see in the top corners of the first picture I had notiecabld discoloration and bumps (“chicken skin”). It is still not completely gone but overall my skin has gotten much better and the bumps have faded significantly. If you have this and are wondering what this is it is called Keratosis Pilaris. Keratosis pilaris is a common, harmless skin condition that causes small, hard bumps that may make your skin feel like sandpaper. You may have heard it called “chicken skin.” The bumps are often light-colored. They usually appear on your upper arms, thighs, and buttocks, sometimes with redness or swelling. It’s appearance can be reduced by using chemically exfoliating products that contain ingredients such as salicylic acid. I have sensitive skin so I wanted my routine to be fairly simple and contain minimal products. Every day that I showered I began with the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne wash on my arms. Melanie_W22So I have been struggling with keratosis pilaris on my arms for MANY years. Mine tends to be almost inflammatory (I’d scratch them open which certainly didn’t help) At one point I decided to put TO Niacinamide on it once a day. It was practically gone in 3-4 days!!! Give it a try...only $7 and worst thing that could happen is you can use the stuff on your face;)

Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 4
Hey ya’ll! In part 4 of Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines we’re reviewing @Raks and @juliachristine’s skincare routines. Starting with @Rakswho reached out to me via Cherie message because she started skincare about a year ago because of her upcoming wedding. She starts by cleansing with theThursday Plantation - Tea Tree Face Wash Foam which costs $8.99 for 5.1 fl oz. This cleanser is very basic. It has tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil. My issue is with the eucalyptus oil, which is a very irritating essential oil right up there with lemon oil and peppermint oil. If this doesn’t irritate your skin then it’s a great cleanser, but I can’t recommend it to those with sensitive skin. Then she goes in with 4 serums. First is thepura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum which costs $14.99 for 4 fl oz. This is a really good serum. It has aloe vera juice, glycerin, jojoba oil, and argan oil which are hydrating ingredients, and then it has hylaronic acid, retinol, and Vitamin C. I love it! Then she uses#The Ordinary - Nicinamide Serum[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $5.90 for 1 fl oz. We’ve talked a lot about this serum, it’s very good. Next is the#Tree Of Life - Hylaronic acid serum[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $10.95 for 1 fl oz. I don’t like this serum. It started off good with hylaronic acid, aloe vera juice, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, but it contains way too many Essential oils and irritating extracts. And her final serum is theSkinMedica - LYTERA 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum which costs $130.90 for 2 fl oz, which is very expensive. This is not worth the price. It has nicinamide and glycerin, and then some not very researched acids. I don’t recommend continuing use of this serum. Then to moisturize she goes in with theOLAY - Regenerist Regenerating Day Cream which costs $29.99 for 1.7 fl oz. I don’t like this moisturizer. Let’s start with some positives. It has nicinamide, glycerin, and Vitamin B3. Now it has a lot of bad ingredients also. It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is a harsh cleansing agent, as well as fragrance being the 6th ingredient. The she uses a Neutrogena sunscreen, and occasionally usesThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which costs $7.20 for 1 fl oz. This is a great exfoliant. I think @Raks is using too many serums. I would stick to only the Pura D’or and The Ordinary serum, and ditch the other two. Keep the cleanser, and maybe try a different moisturizer. You asked for mineral sunscreen reccomendations for dark skin tones that don’t have a white cast, so I got you girl! I have light skin, but I did some research and I’d recommend the#First Aid Beauty - Weightless Mineral SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $34 for 1.5 fl oz, and the #Biossance - Squalane Zinc Sheer SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $30 for 1.7 fl oz. Both of these have minimal white cast, and Skincare by Hyram recommends them. Next is @juliachristine’s night routine. She starts off by cleansing with the #Vanicream - Unscented Gentle Cleanser[products]#[ThreeStars] witch costs $8.99 for 8 fl oz. This a nice basic cleanser with glycerin. Next she uses the#OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $84 for .7 fl oz. This cream has tretinoin which is a Vitamin A derivative which can treat acne, as well as retinol which also Vitamin A. I don’t think it’s worth the price, but it’s okay. Next she uses the #The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%[products]#[FourStars] which costs $7.99 for 1 fl oz. Along with azelaic acid, it has dimethicone which is a great moisturizer for dry skin. Next she uses theCeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which costs $17.99 for 15 fl oz. Y’all know I love this product! Finally she finishes off with theVERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream witch costs $17.99 for .5 fl oz. Eye cream is definitely not necessary but this one is great! It has glycerin, algae extract, and olive oil which are hydrating, along with shea butter and a blend of peptides which can help firm the skin and increase collagen production which can help reduce fine lines around the eyes. Overall @juliachristine your routine looks great! That’s it for this post please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment your opinions on these products, and follow me for similar content. Upcoming posts include a 1 month Curology review and unnecessary skincare steps you don’t need. -Mae

Skin journey week 1
Before using OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream vs 1 day after using it. This product will dry out your skin so make sure you apply at night and use a moisturizer after 30 mins of application. The reason i said 30 mins is because i want the product to fully get adjusted to my skin before applying other products. If you apply during the day please apply sunscreen after. During the first week, my skin will start peeling and pimples will start to appear but the key to this journey is PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE and TRUST THE PROCESS. I’ll continue to post my journey weekly ☺️ Morning routine: Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Aveeno - Clear Complexion Sheer Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 Nightly routine OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream Aveeno - Clear Complexion Sheer Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
🌙 Goodbye Chestne & Backne 🌙
The one thing I hate about the summer months, especially when you have very humid weather, is the fact that sweat, oil, and bacteria often lead to body acne. Unfortunately for me I have extremely reactive skin. So even one pimple on my chest or back is like a red beacon that can be seen from outer space. However, while researching body moisturizers to help ease folliculitis on my legs I found a secret weapon that has completely erased my body acne, so let’s talk about it! 🌙🌙🌙🌙 GOLD BOND - Rough & Bumpy Skin is a highly moisturizing unscented cream with several active ingredients that help unclog pores, exfoliate, and speed up cell turnover. It contains a nice blend of AHA, BHA, and PHA chemical exfoliants. Since the formula is thick and super moisturizing and unscented it shouldn’t leave your skin irritated. 🌙🌙🌙🌙 Since the skin on my body is so reactive I was skeptical that this product would be too harsh for me. However, after using this for two months applying it every night to my chest and back I’ve seen a dramatic improvement in dark spots and occurrence of acne blemishes. For the first time in many years my back and chest is completely clear (to note my body acne has always been VERY mild, but annoying nonetheless). As for the folliculitis on my legs, I still get stubborn clogged pores but no where near as bad as it used to be. Quick word of warning for all you sensitive skinned humans, don’t apply this after shaving, it burns! The only downside I have encountered is that it can make your skin peel which I guess is a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you want to look at it. If you apply it at night you shouldn’t have a problem the next day. This is safe to use everyday, but please apply sunscreen if you apply it in the A.M. 🌙🌙🌙🌙 So have you tried this little miracle worker yet? If so what did you think?
New products I’m trying in June ☀️ 💦 🏖
Hey Everyone! I picked up a few new products for the month of June and can’t wait to try them! As always with these new products I will being doing a one week review on them! quick thanks to everyone who’s followed, liked and commented! GOLD BOND - Rough & Bumpy Skin- this product popped up twice on my Cherie feed! My legs have bumps, are a little rough and have dark spots... I’m really hoping this cream will make a difference! I will be taking before and after photos! Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 I previously used a spf moisturizer before making the switch to this. I hope this is non greasy, easy to apply and doesn’t leave a white cast. Glee the face wax- Everyone grows hair but for a Indian girl like me my upper lip is a huge problem. I picked this up because I needed new wax strips and wanted to try this brand. I hope these work out well! And want to let you all know in case you need them as well!
teen going from acne to accutane to recovery 💛
Hello, my name is Sydney. I am 17 years old and have been dealing with acne since I was eighth grade now being a senior . It seemed like it came out of nowhere! I wore makeup to school and even to go to the grocery store. I was ashamed of how I looked, I would even say I looked like a monster in the mirror to myself without makeup. I never took pictures of myself during this time. I went to the dermatologist and was finally put on Accutane a year or so ago after trying different pills and creams for two years. After a year I was so happy about my new practically clear skin. To this day my skin is mostly clear with the occasional breakout spells and hormonal pimples around the time of the month. But the scars around my mouth and chin will always be a reminder of what my skin went through. I hope this helps at least one teen going through what I did right now. It gets better I promise, and I strongly recommend going to a dermatologist to find products right for your skin because everyone is different. This is my routine of all new products I have just started and might add more products in the future. Freely comment questions and recommendations to try. 🏆Never lose your fight with acnes
Hey sisters🥰!!! If everything gets shutdown during COVID-19, one of the few things that should never be affected is your addiction to skin care. My life-long enemy acne never knows how to self-quarantine and spare a little stability to my skin. I mean...who's undefeatable in front of the brutal acnes🤭? But you're lucky enough - in our incredibly loving Cherie community, your skin problem is never a problem because of our super helpful beauty experts🤩!!! @Paola29suffered from acnes because of hormonal imbalances. Weeks ago, they made a post on Cherie and asked for skincare advice. Believe it or not, within a week, they got so many useful tips on acne treatment - read the golden advice below word by word! @mira.nichole "I love using products like The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque and any of the Sweet Chef Serum Shots to help my skin out. I definitely recommend seeing a dermatologist though if you haven’t already, since I also use a prescription cream called Aczone (Dapsone) which I found has helped out a ton." @skincarebytate "I would recommend using the CeraVe foaming cleanser and daily moisturizer. The CeraVe foaming cleanser works wonders for oily skin. Also you have to moisturize! I would also recommend steering clear of essential oils as they can cause irritation. The ordinary is great though! so keep using their products! Also don’t forget to exfoliate. I would reccomend chemical exfoliants rather than scrubs :)💗 " @al0na.c "The holy grail acne treatment that ended up working for me (finally @ 26 years old!) was the Roche-Posay Effaclar 3 step acne system, but especially the Effaclar Duo Cream. It really works very fast at clearing up breakouts and soothes the redness of the pimples." @Paola29, hope now you have a better idea of removing acnes - please keep us updated 💗! Girls, if you have other advice, don't hesitate to leave your comments below <3

Do’s and Dont’s Of Acne
There are many of things you should and shouldn’t do when it comes to acne. Knowing what to do and what not to do can help you avoid more breakouts, irritation and scarring when it comes to acne. 🎯What To DO 🎯 ✅Properly cleanse skin to remove bacteria and excessive oil. Cleanse face twice a day using a product that has salicylic acid, tea tree etc. Anti-Bacterial properties to reduce bacteria . ✅Moisture, many think with acne you shouldn’t moisturize because it’ll cause more breakouts and this is incorrect. Especially when you are using products that dry out the skin it’s important to put that moisture back in the skin keeping it balanced. 🌺Check out my skin type post under acne there is more info on what products you should use 🌺 ✅Skin Treatments like detoxifying mask, spot treatments etc. These will help to stop breakouts and heal breakouts that you already have. Treatments will help lessen scarring and really support the skin in healing. ✅DRINK WATER! Make sure to drink plenty of water flushes out toxins and keeps skin clear. ✅RELAX Stressing is no good for acne it just makes it worse. ✅PATIENCE tackling acne takes time , prepare yourself for the ride. ❌What To NO DO ❌ ❌Touching / Picking , your hands have bacteria and if you are constantly touching your face your adding more bacteria which equals to more breakouts. Picking will cause irritation and can also lead to scarring. ❌ Too many products , you shouldn’t be using 10 products in your morning skincare routine. With acne less is better because you won’t over saturate the skin which can cause more breakouts. ❌Over use of acids and exfoliators, exfoliation is great for skin but over doing it with acne can irritate breakouts. ❌ Makeup 😩 there will def be a post about how to wear makeup with acne BUT throwing makeup over acne only makes it worse. It’s best to let the skin heal.
