I’m not sure if it’s the products that I’ve been using or it could be hormonal?? I stayed up late one night week doing schoolwork and woke up with this. My face got super itchy and keeps breaking out. I keep my skincare routine pretty simple as I only use + an antibacterial soap from Amway I’ve stopped using the anti blemish pads recently to prevent irritation. I have senior pictures in a few weeks and I’m looking for the fastest but safest way possible to get rid of the redness and scars. Anything helps!!

sydney214Also, I can tell the type of acne you have that you are sensitive to fragrance. that’s what’s causing all that inflammation. So definitely get products with no products. I can promise you you’ll see a difference.

Noxzema and Shea Butter!!
I battled with acne for a long time through out high school. The first picture is me in my 10th grade year of high school. I started to using Noxzema and shea butter during my second semester of 11th grade. I didn’t see results right away of course, but after countless uses, I started to see a change within my skin. When I first started, I used two pads daily (once in the morning and once at night) following with shea butter as my moisturizer. After a year, I started to use the product once every morning following with shea butter as well. I am now 18 years old and it has been almost three years and I am so in love with my skin. ( I also increased my water intake. )

Fall 2020 Skincare Routine
The first product in my skincare routine is the Simple Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Water. It smells a little weird, but works super well for me. It’s cooling and anti redness, as well as being water based, meaning it can be good for those with oily skin. Micellar water is made from purified water mixed with hydrating compounds and cleansing agents. The cleansing agent molecules join to form micelles, which are a chemical structure that helps pull oil and dirt from the skin. This micellar water is $6.29 from Target for a 6.7 oz bottle. I think it’s fairly cheap for a cleanser and works very well for the price. Simple - Micellar Cleansing Water Next, 2 times a week I use the Bliss Mighty Marshmallow Bright & Radiant Whipped Mask. When I first opened the container for this mask, I was hit with the distinct smell of strawberry jello. This is actually something I like about the mask. Other than the smell, which comes from the mask containing extracts and glycerin, it is also cooling, anti redness, creamy, super easy to apply, and leaves your skin very glowy after use. Now let’s talk ingredients. The key ingredients in this product are listed below: Marshmallow Root Extract: hydrating Vitamin C: helps even skin tone Olive Leaf Extract: limits water loss and plumps the skin Zinc PCA: reduces excess oil and anti redness Glycerin: hydrating One thing to note about this mask is it does contain some alcohol. This alcohol is okay in products though. (See my post on Alcohol) This product is available at Target for $16.39 for a 1.7 oz. bottle. It is a more pricey mask, but I personally think it does more for my skin than a $55 mask I used to buy. bliss - Mighty Marshmallow Mask Next I use the Trader Joes Rose Water Facial Toner. I will say this toner is pretty average. It’s hydrating, but has no outstanding ingredients or benefits. I don’t think I’ll repurchase it simply because it has fragrance, something I didn’t notice when I bought it. This toner can be found at Trader Joes for $3.99 for a 4 oz bottle. As you can see, it’s an incredibly cheap product, but not worth it. TRADER JOE'S - Rose Water Facial Toner My moisturizer on the other hand I love. It’s the Olay Complete Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15. It’s creamy, hydrating, a little oily, and leaves your skin super smooth and glowy. All of its active ingredients are sunscreens, and other than that it’s just a good, basic moisturizer that works really well for me. It can be found at Target for $11.39 for a 6 oz bottle. OLAY - Complete All Day UV Moisturizer SPF 15 Sensitive Skin And finally I use the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion. This is a thick, creamy, hydrating moisturizing body lotion that I’m in love with! I use it twice a day and my skin is softer than its ever been. Highly recommend. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This lotion can be found at Target for $17.49 for a 12 oz bottle. Product Review: Skincare and Makeup
I received these item free in exchange for my honest review on them. Iv been using these products for about a month now. So here we go! 1. COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch Acne Pimple Master Patch $6. Firs of all holy value! These patches are actual magic. They are virtually invisible when on and I love how there are multiple sizes. It honestly cleared up deep pimples overnight. I’m going to stock up! 2. @LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo (+) Effaclar Duo Acne Treatment. I do not have very strong breakouts, while I wish I had this product in high school when my acne was really really bad this product was good but too strong/intense for where my skin is currently at. I used it on a few problem areas but it seems more like a long term treatment not a quick fix for someone like me. 3. MAYBELLINE - Mascara Lash Sensational Lash Sensational I loved the applicator but the formula itself was just not doing it for me. It clumped together on the brush and that transferred over to my lashes. I think the applicator is awesome but not the biggest fan of the formula. 4. MAYBELLINE - FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter Master Chrome Highlighter. I absolutely love this product! It provides a very natural glow that is PERFECT for literally everyday. It blends beautiful and I just really love it. 5. CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin GOLD STAR! This cleanser is seriously the BOM! It’s affordable, gentle, and gets everything from lipstick to lash glue off your face. I’m buying the biggest bottle they have right now!

Starting tretinoin and spironolactone
After 6 months of researching products and learning more about my skin and what works, I have finally found out the root cause of my acne. I feel like I’ve always had a good, consistent skincare routine. I’ve even made good lifestyle choices such as changing my pillow case every week, cutting out diary, limiting junk food, and drinking lots of water. However, I did not see any improvements with my skin. I mainly break out on my cheeks, chin, and jawline, especially when I’m on or about to start my period. I recently consulted a doctor for free thanks to my university’s student health services. She told me that this is hormonal for sure. I had been producing an excess of androgen hormones which lead to more oil production and eventually more acne. She prescribed me with spironolactone and tretinoin. I started taking these medications a few days ago. I think I’m in the purge period right now. I’m so glad I finally have closure on what has been causing my acne. I’ve never had serious acne problems in the past so this has been really frustrating. Current skincare routine: Morning: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night: íUNIK - Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil I also use the THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser every other night. If I need to subside a pimple, I would use Rael - Acne Healing Patch or the COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch I’ve been taking spironolactone every morning and applying my .025% tretinoin every other night. I’m giving my skin time to adjust to the tretinoin so I will start applying it nightly next week. For those who have taken spironolactone or tretinoin: how long did it take for you to see less breakouts? And can I still use my salicylic acid cleanser while on tretinoin?

Update Hormonal Acne: 1 Week After Product Swap
Update Hormonal Acne: 1 Week After Product Swap
Hey All! So after a week of using products recommended to me from you all, I wanted to give an update. My skin has improved slightly, but I’m here for the small victories! I switched my cleanser from the CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin to the CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin and I think this has made a huge improvement to the hydration levels of my skin. I have naturally very dry and sensitive skin, so I think the foaming cleanser did a bit too much on it. I’ve also started using DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel again! Love this product as a spot treatment. It has worked wonders for my more inflamed breakouts. Lastly, I’ve taken out the following products: clarisonic - MIA 2 FACIAL CLEANSING BRUSH (LOL ya’ll I know, but I’ve been using it for YEARS and I just couldn’t put it down) PACIfICA - Cosmic Renew AHA & Hemp Resurfacing Tonic (This was just too drying with my prescription tret cream) Looking forward to continue updating xx

Got new products to help with my acne
Got new products to help with my acne
I got 2 new products today to test out to see if it’s going to suit my skin. I got an acne treatment kit from La Roche Posay. It says its safe to use both AM & PM but after speaking to a medical esthetician, she recommended I only use this during AM since I’m using retinol & niacinamide at PM and it might dry out my skin since I’m using a lot of the same ingredients. I finally switched out my No. 7 cleansing oil for the holy grail of cleansing oil/balm.. CLINIQUE - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm I am so excited to try this because its fragrance free which is probably the best thing for my skin right now. Today is day 1 of using both these products and i’ll do an update in 1 week to see whether these products have made any noticeable changes. My night time routine is washing with Cetaphil cleanser followed by Niacinamide & retinol & rosehip oil instead of a moisturizer. Its really outside my comfort zone to post photos of myself with my acne cause I’m insecure about it but hopefully someone can give me tips about how to fix this!

My skin is just getting worse and worse so now I’m not sure if I’m just breaking out worse because of the products or if I’m just purging. I’m currently using Bioré - Blue Agave & Baking Soda Pore Balancing Cleanser The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution PACIfICA - Dry It Out Acne Gel Spot Treatment Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

New Sensitive skin- Help!
New Sensitive skin- Help!
Hi everyone so, for as long as I can remember my skin has always been acne prone, and was never sensitive. I could use super strong products yet it wouldn’t even phase my skin. I used to have oily prone- combo skin. Now it’s completely different and I think it’s definitely hormonal change. My acne used to just be on my forehead but now it is concentrated on my jawline and cheeks. The worst part is, my skin is now sensitive. For those of you who have acne prone- dry skin, could you let me know what you do to control your acne without over drying? The products I use are above☺️ Thanks for your help!

Hormonal acne
Hormonal acne
My skin is at an all time low. I know my acne isn’t “bad”, but I use to have perfect clear skin. I’m 21 years old, and the last 6 months my skin has gotten worst. My old dermatologist had me on an antibiotic called clindamycin (which i was taking for over a year) and although I should have never been taking that for so long I am determined that’s what stopped my acne. Since I’ve been off that my face has been worst. I’m currently taking 50mg of spironolactone, but it’s not doing ANYTHING for me. My acne is only on my chin/jawline and cheeks, so I know it’s hormonal, but I want to find an end to it. Any suggestions on products that will get rid of my acne!!!!!! I have dry sensitive skin. Anything helps😭
