Trying to find the culprit... HELP!
Ever since I’ve added these two new products, I’ve noticed a couple new breakouts in places i’ve never experienced!!! They are red painful pimples too. Two on my forehead (I never get them there) , one on the outside of my nostril (i never get them there either), and the weirdest singular pimple on my NECK! Both of these products I have used on my face and neck, however, I’m not sure what product or ingredient is causing the sudden breakout!! Or is it just purging??? Help!!!!!! Did anyone else experience this with these products??? COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence Murad - Nutrient-Charged Water Gel

Today’s Ulta haul!!!!✨🥳
Hi all! Today I ventured off to Ulta in search of a new moisturizer! If you saw my last post, then you know that I’m currently searching for a new one, as my most recent product just didn’t do it for me :( I was desperate for something super hydrating, so I ended up with the Murad - Nutrient-Charged Water Gel! I have heard nothing but amazing reviews about this, and considering every Murad product i’ve ever used has yet to fail me, I thought i’d give it a try As for first impressions, this gal was PRICEY... not even gonna lie... but I was in the market for a new product willing to spend a little more than usual so I thought why not? It’s ok to treat yo self here and there 😉 But this cream is so THICK! It only took about a fingertip worth of product to completely coat my entire face comfortably, which is definitely what I want in a product! My skin gets so dry during this time of the year so lathering is key! It sunk into my skin effortlessly and i SWEAR my skin feels baby soft after one use! The only thing I’m a little weary of is that it has the slightest fragrance, however, my skin has never been extremely sensitive to that kind of stuff, unless it was like overly artificial. But this is a light, flowery scent that definitely smells natural and I can’t wait to keep using it! I also received a free Murad gift Murad - Free Intense Recovery Cream Deluxe Sample With Brand Purchase with the purchase and i’m excited to see what it does! Tbh not even sure of its actual use but I’ll try it out as an eye cream and see if it does anything 😂 My lack of sleep lately has definitely shown so i’ll try anything to get rid of my eye bags! While I browsed, I also came across the highly acclaimed COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, which I constantly see on Cherie, as well as any K-Beauty skincare forums! I bought it to see for myself what the rave was all about! I finally feel comfortable in my new routine so I thought it would be a perfect time to add a new step! I’ve used essences in the past and it always made my face feel soft and supple! I’ve heard that this is more of a preventative product for anti aging, so I probably won’t see much of a physical difference anytime soon, but I’ll try anything as long as it’s safe for my skin! I’ve learned so much while being on this app and I’m excited to experiment with new products! I never thought i’d be putting snail mucin on my face if you would have told me a year ago, but here I am!😁🐌 Lastly, I also picked up some peach slices - Acne Spot Dots. These have always been lifesavers for me when I have to wear a mask for a long period of time, and since my classes are going to resume again soon, that means the mask stays on for several hours at a time 🥲 Thankfully I have no active breakouts atm, but it’s always nice to have a stack of these bad boys whenever I need them!

Updated skin progress!
Hi all :) If you’ve been following me, you know I started a brand new routine (all K-Beauty products) at the beginning of December after suffering a horrible reaction from my previous routine that included painful cystic breakouts, chemical burns, etc. as seen on the side of my cheek. That has stayed put since about mid November 😬 I am slowly but surely getting to the point where they are starting to fade. I still have days where that area gets inflamed, whether that’s from the friction of wearing my mask for a full day, sleeping on my side, or even enduring a recent cat scratch straight to the face and through my already painful acne. Anyways, it has been about a full month of this new routine, so I thought i’d write my thoughts on these products! My overall goal with my skin is to firstly, get rid of the acne scarring on the side of my cheek, but also to achieve “dewy” skin. I also have massive pores that have always been hard to reduce, but as I’ve learned recently, a lot of that is simply natural and I’m just going to have to learn to accept that 😌 ✨PRODUCT REVIEW✨ 1. Hanskin - Pore Cleansing Oil PHA Being my first Oil cleanser, I guess it’s hard to compare to any other product, however, I have fallen in LOVE with it! It’s perfect for my clogged pores and the way it melts into my skin feels so luxurious and prepares my skin so well for my foaming cleanser + the rest of my routine! *I use this in BOTH the AM and PM, but in the AM i only use it on my nose, where I am the most oily in the morning. 2. acwell - No 5.5 Ph Balancing Micro Cleansing Foam This is a super gentle cleanser that foams up so nice and quickly and always gets the remaining gunk off my face after the oil cleanser! My face never feels too dry or tight after, either! Which is a major win for me as all my psst cleansers have done so. *I use in both the AM and PM! 3. d’Alba Peptide No-Sebum Balancing Toner (not listed on Cherie) I always swear by a toner, although many disagree. But I feel if you have a toner set for a specific purpose, such as reducing sebum and unclogging pores, then there’s no harm in using one in moderation! I have seen an such amazing difference in my pores with this toner. Although I still have large pores that can’t be helped, this definitely aids in reducing them temporarily and unclogging! 4. - AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum This serum has been a lifesaver for helping with the dryness of my skin, as well as healing my dark spots. I used to get a new pimple maybe like every other day or so, but since using this product, I’ve not experienced a new breakout besides one pesky chin pimple from being on my period, which I’m used to 🙄 *Use 3 times a week only in the PM 5. On the Bright Side Moisturizer by Good Skin Days (not listed on Cherie) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is the only product i will NOT be repurchasing. Although I haven’t experienced any negatives, it just doesn’t hydrate well:(

Rice water for your HAIR!
✨Hi y’all! I wanted to show some progress on my hair journey since incorporating homemade rice water!!! It has only been a week but the difference in my hair is INSANE! ✨I will preface this by saying my hair is definitely not healthy. I have been dyeing my hair since the end of middle school if that says anything... and I’m 21 now. So I have many years of damage to my hair as you can probably see by the split ends and dryness. Plus, my hair has always been extremely thin and hard to grow out especially due to my anemia. But since 2020 began, I haven’t dyed my hair at all, and I decided to try grow it all out and finally give her the TLC she deserves!!! ✨If you don’t know, fermented rice water has been around FOREVER as an Asian beauty/wellness staple. Its starchy properties provide so many nutrients for skin AND hair! If you keep up with K/J-Beauty, you probably know that rice water is a BIG seller in a lot of products! I was an avid user of SK-II for a while, and even some of my current products have fermented rice water/proteins as the main ingredient! I have had nothing but amazing experience with rice products on my face, so I finally thought i’d give it a try on my hair!!! On top of that, the process to make it yourself is SO EASY! ✨Here’s how to make! All you have to do is take 1-2 cups of rice (give it an initial strain as you normally would) then add about 4 cups of water to it, stir, and let it sit out for 30 minutes max to allow all the starch to leach out! Once you get a cloudy mixture, strain the rice and add the water to a mason jar and make sure it is AIR TIGHT! Leave the sealed jar out at room temperature for about 24 hours! You can do it up to 2 days but after that it WILL go bad! After letting it sit, it has fermented enough to use! You can then store it in your refrigerator to keep up to a week, but again, any more than that will go sour. Also, you can use the rice afterwards to cook! Always a win win for me and my boyfriend who eats rice with almost every meal!😊 ✨Here’s how to use! Simply just do your normal shampoo/conditioner then rinse out the soap! After the soap is all out do a double rinse with the rice water! Make sure to really focus on your scalp as that is your prime target to promote hair growth and strength! Plus it’s all going to trickle down to the ends anyways! Honestly, it’s not the most glorious act of pouring on your head but the payoff is definitely worth it! Then you rinse it all out again and you’re set! *I should also note that fermented rice water, as many things of this nature do, does have a strong odor. The smell won’t linger in your hair once you rinse it out, however, if it’s too bothersome then you can always add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil! Let me know if you try it out! :)
Watch me “glow” up! ✨*BROWS EDITION*✨
Today I scrolled through my old photos, wondering why in the WORLD nobody told me back then that my brows just weren’t cutting it 🥴 I was a teen in the era of the “instagram brow” all boxy in its glory, praising the the ABH Dipbrow pomade (You can admit this was a phase for you too, this is a safe space 😬) Along with my many hair colors, brows were a major change for me throughout high school and my first couple years of college. I always felt they needed to be the boldest past of my face, and 20x darker than my actual hair color. Not sure why exactly, but I just remember each morning before getting ready for school, outlining my teeny tiny eyebrows with GIANT caterpillar like boxes, then completely filling it in... no fade... nothing... just one whole color. I would even sleep with the brow makeup on 90% of the time 🤢 Eventually I learned that my brows didn’t have to be located on opposite sides of the equator, as seen in the second photo, so, naturally, the only valid way to fix this was to nearly frida kahlo it and draw them as close as possible together. I really cringe at those photos the most, but at least I was finally learning more about B L E N D I N G and S H A D I N G my brows for once 😪 Lastly, after many years of BROWS and nothing else, I decided it was time to retire the ABH. A say day for sure, but also a big step towards embracing my natural brows and features. The times when I would wear excessive brow makeup, I started to become so dependent on it, and I could hardly stand seeing myself without it on, hence why I literally SLEPT in them like that... But here I am today, and I have completely embraced my minimalist brows and makeup in general. I think once I really got into skincare, the desire for makeup, personally, went away for me. When I wore makeup on the daily, I suffered so many skin complications and I was just ready for a change. I’m absolutely not trying to preach the little to no makeup lifestyle, as I still LOVE playing around with it here and there! But reducing my makeup routine to little to nothing at all dramatically changed my skin, and I am SUPER thankful for that! And for those curious, here’s how my brow product evolution went⬇️ I went from ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Dipbrow Pomade to ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Dipbrow Gel then Glossier. - Boy Browto essence - Lash & Brow Gel Mascaraand now I simply do the soap brow technique, using a spoolie and Pears EST.1807 - Pure & Gentle Soap With Natural Oils :)
A routine that FINALLY works for me!
Since the beginning of quarantine, I’ve gotten WAY into skincare, maybe a little too much... I’ve definitely experienced ups and downs with my routine, low bank balances, and the overall stress of trying to balance the millions of options and recommendations given for serums, cleansers, toners, ETC. Through many trial and errors, I think I finally found my true routine, thanks to Sokoglam, a K-Beauty skincare company. They offer a free “skin concierge” session in real time with a skincare specialist, where you can ask about your skin concerns and receive great recommendations for products, and overall a personalized skincare routine that fits YOU! That all sounds cheesy and sponsored but I promise it’s not😂 That’s just how impressed I am with the company! For so long I just watched youtubers suggest products to me and I scrolled endlessly on Cherie looking for products that I thought would suit me. A biiiig brand I saw/and was recommended CONSTANTY was The Ordinary serums... Long story short, tried it, hated it. Plain and simple. The few serums I used from them caused nothing but turmoil for my skin that I’m still trying to fix including breakouts, CYSTIC acne, chemical burns, etc.. I am pretty sure there was just something my sensitive skin was allergic to in order for all of that to have happened, but still, simply just not for me. To be fair, if it weren’t for those products, I would have never gone out of my way to seek a new routine, sooooo? Thanks I guess lol. Anyways, here is my road to recovery! I have been documenting my skin’s journey and I can already see such dramatic effects in texture, hydration, reduction of oiliness AND the beginnings of healing for my more intense acne that left scars! I won’t go into detail on each product quiet yet, as it is still a new routine taking its course, however, I think the biggest component to the already huge changes has to definitely be the Hanskin - Pore Cleansing Oil PHA !!!! As a combo/oily skin type who rarely wears makeup, I NEVER would have thought I’d need this product because like... More oil??! But I was sooooo mislead!!! My pores have never been cleaner/smaller after using this, because after all, oil gets rid of oil! For so long I was always so frustrated with how bad of a job my water based cleansers were doing, never truly cleaning my horribly clogged pores! I guess I just forgot basic chemistry knowledge that water alone cannot get rid of oil! Plain and simple! I’m sure most people know that, but I guess my quarantine brain didn’t make that connection, but also when it comes to skincare, I guess I never truly thought of those things in the past! I will keep updating my journey as I go, but enjoy for now!

SPILL THE TEAAAAAA ☕️
Now that the weathers starting to turn, it’s time to be getting the most out of our warm beverages! I try to drink 2-3L of water a day, so now that it’s starting to get chilly outside I’m turning to Tea to help me get my daily intake. The liquid gold cleansing balm
Overall, this is just such a lovely product. I have had mixed experiences with cleansing balms so far, so I was a bit afraid to invest in the Then I met you - Living Cleansing Balm . But this product is seriously like liquid gold. The good: + Melts absolutely all makeup (and whatever else) off your face. + It’s such a gentle formula that just glides across the skin, you don’t have to tug or anything, just need to gently massage it into skin. + Doesn’t irritate the skin or cause breakouts, if anything I feel like my skin feels plumper and less clogged since using this. + The smell and colour are delightful, it’s like using a mango sorbet for your skin. I don’t mind the fragrance since I’m rinsing this off. + Doesn’t leave a residue on your skin afterwards (although I do go in with a water based cleanser after just in case). + Star ingredients include olive oil (anti-inflammatory), grape seed oil (vitamin E), sea buckthorn oil (rejuvenates) and persimmon extract (brightens) . + It’s vegan, cruelty-free, and is free of alcohol, silicone, and parabens. + The packaging 😍 The not so good: - When I see that I’m getting close to the bottom of my jar! - This is a bit of an investment ($38 USD) and in 🇨🇦 you do need to wait 2-3 weeks depending on who is shipping it. Worth it? Honestly, yes. It is an investment, but it lasts a long time because you only need a little bit. Plus the experience is so luxurious and your skin will be satisfyingly clean after. Will I repurchase? Okay, so, I have purchased another cleansing balm that I want to try because it could be a dupe. I’m going to go through that one before I buy this again, but... I bet I’ll buy it again because 1) I love the packaging, 2) it works perfectly and 3) it’s such a nice experience right before you go to bed. Ps I have combination, acne prone skin :)

The key to plump, smooth & even skin is...🐌?!
Yes. Yes, apparently snails are the key. This bad boy is such a cult favourite. I had been dying to try it out and see what all the hype was about. I got this product just over three months ago and I’ve been monitoring the effects carefully so that I can give a super honest review. And I have to say, I have absolutely no complaints about this product and I do feel like it does everything that it promises on their website. The good: + My skin afterwards just feels... better? It’s smoother, plumper and feels more hydrated than before. + If my skin is ever feeling irritated, I’ll reach for this product. My skin looks soothed they next morning and if I apply it in the morning it helps reduce redness throughout the day. + I gotta say, this does help with acne scar healing. And if I have a pimple that is inflamed, I’ll add a big drop of this on top and it calms down by morning. + A little goes a long way with the product, it spreads very easily. You really only need one pump and while someone with dry skin may benefit from using this twice a day, I find that I only need it in the evenings as I tend to go for lighter products during the daytime. So that combined with the fact you get quite a big bottle means this is going to last me a while! + Key ingredients include: snail mucin (studies show that this COULD provide skin with several benefits including healing and anti-aging, but at the very least it is a good humectant) and sodium hyaluronate (another great humectant). + Love the little pump on the bottle. + I believe it’s fragrance free for all you sensitive skin friends out there. The not so good: - I’ve read a couple places that said that this product had anti-aging properties. Honestly I didn’t really see any difference. But that’s okay, I wasn’t really expecting it to make any big difference. - This honestly feels more like a serum versus the other essences that I have seen. I don’t mind it, but think I should point it out! Worth it? Yes, for sure. Good amount of product and a great price point ($21-27). If you need some extra moisture and want plump / dewy skin and want a little extra help with fading some acne scars, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Will I repurchase? I do want to! But I have my eyes on another essence as well...honestly I’ll probably just buy both. Apologies to my bank account 💸 Fun fact: People in Ancient Rome actually used snails in order to try and heal a whole bunch of things, including skin diseases because they believed it had healing properties. Ps I have combo, acne prone skin 💕🐌

💚Skincare Snacks: installment 3 UNDERRATED OKRA
Okra is one of my favorite vegetables... although used in a very vegetable-type way culinarily, it’s actually a fruit! This pod-producing nutritional powerhouse is the only member of the Mallow family to bear fruit. Related to cotton & hibiscus, Okra has been used for medicinal & culinary purposes for over 3,500 years. Believed to originate in Ethiopia & cultivated by the ancient Egyptians by the 12th century B.C, the cultivation spread throughout North Africa & Western Asia. The seeds/pods were eaten raw or cooked, & seeds were toasted, ground & brewed like coffee☕️ Okra is an excellent source of vitamins & minerals, high in vitamin C, A, B complex, iron, calcium, & antioxidants like B1, B2, Quercetin, Rutin, Catechin & Epiatechin. It’s also known for high vitamin K & folate content, which can support healthy bones & prevent diseases like Osteoporosis. Studies have shown that the vitamin C content in Okra can reduce asthma symptoms & skin conditions. 💚 S W I P E 💚 I’ve made info slides about the specific benefits for your skin if you need to get straight to the point, but this highly underrated crispy baby has so many health benefits, I’ll try to list them all as I hit that character limit!💻😞 🍽 Fry it, sauté it, bake it, add it to soups as it will naturally thicken your broth or simply eat them raw! They’re crisp, delicious, refreshingly light & sweet. Okra is a decent source of protein, but it’s micro-nutrient content like folates & collagen will serve to improve your body’s overall strength & energy levels much more than its protein will. ANTI-INFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES: Because of its antioxidant properties, Okra benefits your entire body by helping to reduce levels of inflammation. Chronic inflammation is one of the primary causes of illness in the body; reducing inflammation by exercise, proper nutrition & improving the efficiency of your digestive system can do wonders for your overall health. Okra is rich in fiber & antioxidant properties. Prebiotics are a source of healthy food for Probiotics (the addition of good strains of living bacteria into your body) Your body’s ability to function properly depends on gut health, which is ultimately fueled by the healthy presence of good bacteria in the body. Fiber-rich foods like Okra can act as a prebiotic, helping to encourage the presence of good bacteria. It actually coats the digestive tract when it is consumed, which helps to speed the healing of peptic ulcers. 👁👩🏾🦱👱🏿♀️👩🏽🦰👩🏼🦱🧑🏻🦰👩🏻👩🏽🦳👱🏻♀️👩🏽 EYE & HAIR HEALTH: Vitamins C & A both benefit eye health, & both of which are abundant in the Okra plant. There are more options than just carrots to help with eyesight & functional longevity. These vitamins along with the healthy vitamin B complex & calcium that Okra offers, make it an effective addition to your hair care routine. 🧠 HEALTHY BRAIN FUNCTION: Okra benefits your brain health & is considered by some to be one of the best foods for brain function.
The Art of Washing Your Face
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽♀️ I remember the exact moment when I looked in the mirror and saw the results of my neglect. At that point in my life the simple step of washing my face became not so simple. For years I’d splashed water on my face, applied an essence and moisturiser and run out of the house. Now in my 40’s washing my face has become something of an art form. Dermatologists say you generally only have to wash your face twice a day and over washing is a thing 😱 where your skin may either breakout, dry out or irritate. At a bare minimum you should wash in the morning and evening with water 💦 I alternate routines but wash my face twice a day with water at a minimum. 🧚♀️ Use warm water, hot water can cause dilation of the blood 🩸and breakage of delicate tissue. Also, heat can be a trigger for rosacea, a skin condition that causes redness and acne-like bumps. So, it’s important to use lukewarm water to wash your face 😊 🧚♀️ Use the right cleanser for your skin type and don’t use soap, sodium hydroxide, also called caustic soda or lye, is a traditional ingredient for soap-making 🧚♀️ Only wash as often as you have to. Washing your face more than twice a day to remove germs is not necessary, unless you’re prone to skin infections. Hydration mist on the other hand ✍️ is not washing and spritzing is recommended for mature or dry skin types 😄 🧚♀️ Try not to scrub and lather aggressively. It’s tempting but not recommended because it can lead to red, irritated skin 🧚♀️ Finally, make sure your face towels are clean 🧼 reusing towels breeds bacteria 🦠 and can contribute to acne I picked at my cheek, 🙋🏽♀️ of course it’s now a slight open wound, 🤣 and irritated. I’ve resorted to minimal cleansing, moisturiser and sunscreen. 🤦🏽♀️ If you have any questions just drop a comment below 😉hope you enjoyed Jade 😁
I have very sensitive skin, too sun, makeup, face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen., you name it! But here are some products that work for my skin. I’ve never had a horrible issue with my skin *knock on wood* but I did got through a few years of acne and flakiness on my skin. Off and on now I’ll get occasional breakouts but they will go away if I tend my skin correctly. Morning routine• Avène - Tolérance Extrême Cleansing Lotion I wet my face and then apply this cream and wipe away access with a cotton pad. Glossier. - Super Glow Vitamin C + Magnesium Serum This product I have good times with and some bad, but overall it doesn’t irritate my skin and I don’t apply it where I have small scarring because it seems to clog the area. ORIGINS - GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff This one is a bit pricey but definitely worth it! The only eye cream I’ve used that actually works with brightening. I have extremely dark circles and this helps with it. Now I know I’m going to get attacked for not using a sunscreen but I haven’t found one yet that works. I’ve tried sooo many, ones directed toward sensitive skin and all have broke me out or triggered eczema. If you have suggestions let me know! ••••••••••••••• Nighttime routine• Simple - Micellar Cleansing Water I use this with a cotton pad all around my face and then follow with the Avène - Tolérance Extrême Cleansing Lotion Glossier. - Super Glow Vitamin C + Magnesium Serum this again and I’m finished! 🧡🧡☀️ Extra tlc for my skin! AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay this mixed apple cider vinegar became my best friend, I started this about two years ago and it has helped me so much. It can cause irritation but it doesn’t last very long, right after using I apply a generous amount of moisturizer. pixi - DetoxifEYE I will occasionally use these if I’m getting glammed up somewhere and they make such a difference!! •••••••••
