I'm going to preface this with i am looking for a new routine to combat more of my problem areas at the moment (clogged pores, cystic acne and anti aging) am GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Waterproof Makeup Remover I find it dodoesnt remove all the make up and I hahave to do at least two rounds. hanalei - Charcoal Powder Face Cleanser Charcoal Powder Face Cleanser so I usually then wash with this which I love. I got it in a monthly box and have had it forever. a little goes a very long way. it becomes super foamy and leaves my skin feeling great THAYERS - Cucumber Facial Mist I then use this toner all over. i like it but do find the after feeling is kinda off Hylamide - Pore Flush I then spray this on to assit with mmy giant pores The Ordinary - Marine Hyaluronics little hydration. I do find i need more hydration than what this is currently offering me Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 I finish off with this but truth be told I totally dislike it. pm sam as above but I switch out the aveeno for DERMA•E - Hydrating Night Cream or YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask love this. its so creamy and feels song googood.

Homemade Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon Hair Mask
"This mask works great to help remove shampoo and product buildup on the scalp and hair," said celebrity hairstylist Michelle Cleveland of her all-natural detoxifying hair mask. This hair mask is recommended for oily hair. Ingredients: 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar 1 cup of water 1/2 a lemon juiced Directions: Mix together all three ingredients in a bowl. Shampoo your hair as normal but don't condition. Apply the mixture onto your scalp and massage it in, working it down into the roots of your hair. Leave it on for 10-to-15 minutes and rinse it out.
My new skincare routine
Let’s start with what I’ve been using the longest: CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin I LOVE this cleanser. I have acne prone skin and congested pores like crazy. I started using this a week ago and I’ve noticed a huge difference with my skin feeling way cleaner and it never feels tight after I wash it. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 For someone who has combination skin, this is a life saver. It hydrates my dry spots but doesn’t make my t-zone super oily! And it keeps me feeling hydrated all day. The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA I tried this because I’ve always used a traditional moisturizer and the thought of only using serums was weird to me. I will stick with it because it makes me feel like I’ve locked everything else in! A little goes a very long way! And my favorite face sunscreen.... alba BOTANICA - Hydration Sensation Water Gel SPF 18 for sunny south Florida and it doesn’t feel thick and gross. And even better, doesn’t clog my pores. Also works great under makeup. I have skipped a primer on some days and just let this be my base 🤷🏼♀️ Now for my newbies... The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane didn’t burn, loved the way my face felt after using it! We shall see in the long run. It’s not my first rodeo with Retinoids but this one is new The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I’ve used it twice so far, and the first time i felt a tiny bit of tingling but it was extremely short lived. It does have a sticky-ness to it so I suggest putting it under something else (obviously it would have to go under my Retinoid). I put it under my The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 and it seemed okay but I didn’t put makeup on today. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I tried this baby last night for the first time! 10 minutes, just as directed. A bit of initial tingling. But after? My face felt as smooth as ever!!! I loved it! I followed it with my The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 andThe Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane (since I’m not new to retinoids). Face didn’t feel sensitive this morning. I have not tried the The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution since I didn’t want to mix it with the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution but I will probably end up using the peel on Monday’s and the toner on Wednesday’s and Fridays. I don’t want to strip my skin. Oh and some days I used a Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner, just depends on how my face feels. But I haven’t felt the need to since I started using the CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin Any thoughts?! 🥰

Your Skin Routine For: Oily, Large Pores, Acne
A highly requested example routine targeting: acne, enlarged pores, orange peel texture, and/or oily skin. These are example products, the ingredient/step focus is the idea being communicated. I made sure to name favourites that my sensitive, combo skin loves! 1. Oil/Balm Cleanser: Makeup and sunscreen can both be hard to fully get off skin, so be sure to deep-clean skin with an oil-based cleanser! The Inkey List can’t be beaten for the price and quality combo. 2. Foam/Gel/Cream Cleanser: Get off any residual first cleanser as well as whatever grime managed to survive it. Make sure to thoroughly rinse and not use hot water. Paula’s Choice has a variety of affordable cleaners but CeraVe is a skinstagram favourite. 3. Hyaluronic Acid: Skin needs hydration, but it’s easy to over-moisturizer whenever you have oily skin or congestion. Using a hyaluronic acid (or sodium hyaluronate) serum keeps skin bouncy without overwhelming oilier skin types! The Ordinary HA + B5 has a cult following but my favourite is the Paula’s Choice Hyaluronic Acid Booster. 4. Niacinamide: Niacinamide normalizes pores to regulate sebum production and has promising research for its acne-reducing properties. Paula’s Choice 10% Niacinamide Booster helped my orange peel texture on my chin so much! The Inkey List Niacinamide‘s is my second favourite since it’s simple and effective without potentially irritating zinc like the Ordinary’s. 5. Salicylic Acid: Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid is touted as a game changer for so many people I know, and me too! Salicylic acid deep-cleans pores (moreso than AHAs) and helps to decongest + exfoliate skin. A budget BHA I would recommend is The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution. 6. Moisturizer: I believe pretty much all skin needs a moisturizer unless you’re the oiliest (but not dehydrated) of oily or the most normal of normal skin. A simple, nourishing moisturizer that isn’t too heavy is easy to find: CeraVe Ultralightweight lotions, Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex Moisturizer or Probiotic Nutrient Moisturizer, The Ordinary’s NMF + HA, and Stratia Liquid Gold are all wonderful and affordable.

Do pores really shrink? Myth Busted.
I know we’ve all heard about products or methods that are designed to “shrink your pores”. The myth that pores can shrink has been around longer than I can remember (even my esthetics school teacher would use the phrase which I always hated). It wasn’t until I started watching Skincare by Hyram on YouTube that I really solidified in my mind that pores cannot shrink. In order for something to shrink there needs to be a muscle attached to it. Pores do not have muscles therefore they cannot shrink. Pore size is generally dictated by genetics but there are a few things you can do/use to help minimize their appearance. My favorite ingredients for pores are niacinamide and salicylic acid. I know I’ve talked a lot about them in the past but a quick run down is the niacinamide will help regulate oil product while the salicylic acid goes down into the pores to clean out all the sebum and debris that can make them look enlarged. These two ingredients can be a great powerhouse when used together. My favorite is the GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner which I use twice daily as the first step in my routine and then I follow it up with the PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator every other day at night time. Another thing you can do, which is more of a temporary fix, is introducing a pore filling primer into your routine. Pore filling primers are usually silicone based. It’s also a common myth that silicone clogs the pores but the molecule for silicone is actually larger than your pores therefore it sits on top of the skin which gives that “pore filled” look. Just make sure your skin is clean and prepped before applying one so you don’t trap any dirt in. Silicones can be great in skincare in general to help trap in hydration. While pores can be a huge issue for people, me included, I just wanted to also take the time to say pores are normal and functional part of the skin. Everyone has pores and needs them. Even those online who look like they have poreless skin have pores so don’t stress too hard. As long as you’re taking care of your skin you’re doing great. 🖤

We often have more than 1 skin concern we would like to treat, I know I do! Theres always a big question “if I use this, can I use this?” Or “can I use this serum together with this serum?” I found this awesome sheet on IG and found it super helpful! Be sure to save this for future reference! PHOTO CREDIT: helloavabeauty

Contains salicylic acid and willow bark extract. Wasn’t drying on the skin. 🤔 ▶️ íUNIK - Black Snail Restore Serum - snail mucin based serum that claims to help with skin brightening, skin soothing, reduction of signs of premature aging, and increased cell regeneration. Didn’t work out well for me. Caused itching and irritations after prolonged use. 👎 ▶️ TROIAREUKE - Acsen UV Protector Essence -my top favorite sunscreen for oily skin types. Doesn’t strip the skin. Contains green tea and 13 botanical oils. 🤔 ▶️ THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum - a gentle retinol serum containing retistar which is a combination of multiple actives.
