Travel-friendly lip balms for chapped lips
Travel-friendly lip balms for chapped lips
I’m a lip balm addict. I can get really dehydrated and flaky lips so when I leave the house or go for a small trip I need to have at least one product in my purse / backpack / tote bag. I love these three lips balms because they have hygienic and slim packaging that fits almost anywhere. And I like bringing these three around because they each serve a unique purpose: indeed LABORATORIES - Hydraluron + Volumising Lip Treatment ^ when you need some heavy duty hydration ($15) I am absolutely loving this lip treatment from indeed. After just one use my lips were super soft and didn’t have any flakes left over. The formula is clear, THICK and was actually hard to squeeze out of the tube at first. But once you put it on it feels moisturizing, but thick enough that it won’t move out of place. The only thing I will say is that I don’t these this product makes my lips look any more voluminous that they did already... but I don’t mind and for $15 I’m super happy with the results. I would even consider bringing this in place of my Laneige lip mask is I was going on a quick weekend trip or just had a small purse. Then I met you - Honey Dew Lip Mask ^ when you want dewy and glossy lips ($22) Say you want to look extra dewy or flirty...But you don’t want a gloss that will dry out your lips or will feel too sticky. I would definitely recommend trying this lip mask. It’s not as healing as the indeed lip treatment, but it will keep your lips hydrated and super super glossy. Plus it smells super nice. The product is clear and almost a little oily. It’s a really lovely formula and pretty packaging. The scent is sweet but subtle. Overall, I love pulling this out of my purse and swiping a bit on before going out because I feel extra dewy and pretty. Glossier. - Balm Dotcom ^ the jack of all trades ($15) Lips feeling a bit chapped? Balm dotcom. Cuticles feeling dry? Balm dotcom. Elbows cracking? Balm dotcom. Let’s be honest, it’s beautiful and lightly scented Vaseline. And I love it. It’s so convenient for when you’re out and about. For $15 it does seem a bit steep, but the packaging is cute, the scent is nice and the pink tint in this rose version is subtle but pretty. Overall, I’m happy to spend the money for this convenient and versatile product. 🥰💋

Pores: reduced. Skin: brighter. Wallet: happy.
This toner makes me so happy. I’ve actually really enjoyed all my Good Molecules products so far because they are affordable and effective. This toner is no different and it’s provided such a big difference in the appearance of my pores. I’ve incorporated this into my evening routine and I’m quite happy with the results. And the price. Texture note: This feels a bit thicker and more viscous than a normal toner, which feels thinner and more liquid-y. It has a feeling that is in between a serum / essence and a toner. The good: + This almost instantly had an effect on the appearance of my pores. My skin just seemed smoother overall. + It absorbs nicely and quickly into the skin. + It’s not irritating at all. I’m definitely able to use every night if I want to. + My skin tone just overall looks a lot nicer and more even since I started to use this. + It’s almost easier to handle since it’s a slightly thicker liquid. There’s just less chance of it spilling out of your hands or dripping everywhere. + I love seeing Niacinamide quoted as a main ingredient and then it actually being in the top three ingredients on the list! + Key ingredients include Niacinamide (brightens, improves skin tone and controls pores), Arbutin (reduces hyperpigmentation), Licorice root (reduce hyperpigmentation) and vitamin c (an antioxidant that brightens). + Its $14-18 depending on where you live, which is aligned with most drugstore prices for a toner! And you get 120ml of product. The not so good: - The fact it takes about a month to deliver to 🇨🇦 Worth it? Definitely. Will I repurchase? Yes. I might even skip replacing my Then I Met You toner and stick with this one 🙊 Ps I have combo, acne-prone skin. Pps pores are fine and normal. And they won’t fully ever go away. Plus no one will see unless they look really really closely, so try not to worry too much :)

I think we found a Fenty Gloss Bomb dupe 🙊
I think we found a Fenty Gloss Bomb dupe 🙊
MAYBELLINE - Lifter Gloss With Hyaluronic Acid I am so pleasantly surprised with this lip gloss so far. It feels VERY close to the Fenty gloss bombs, which are also fantastic. Dupes can feel kind of weird when they are this close. I mean, this one has super similar formulas, smells and even the big doefoot applicator. But at least it makes products like this more affordable and therefore accessible...right? For this review I am specifically comparing Fenty’s gloss bomb in FU$$Y and the Lifter gloss in Moon. The good: + This formula is just so glossy and juicy on the lips. I love the way my lips look and feel once this applies - it’s like your lips, but just a bit more glossy, a tint of colour and tint bit of sparkle. Plus it like smooths over any of the lines you may have on your lips. It’s like my lips, but better 😂 + It’s not sticky and it’s not too wet-looking. + Like the Gloss Bomb, it has a slight shimmer, but it’s not glittery and not too overpowering. Easily could work for an everyday look. + The colour is very close to FU$$Y in terms of shade, pigment and shimmer. I will say that Moon is a tiny bit more.. peachy compared, but it’s still very similar. I’ve added a swatch test so you can see :) + This is so important to me. This gloss doesn’t dry out my lips! It’s comfortable and I would even say I find it fairly hydrating. I wouldn’t replace a lip balm with this per say but I love how after wearing I don’t need to worry about chapped lips. + It has a very similar applicator to the Fenty version. They both have the large doefoot applicator which makes it so quick and easy to apply. + This bad boy is just under $10 which is not bad compared to $18-25 for Fenty’s Gloss Bomb. + There’s actually more colours to pick from for the Maybelline version. The not so good: - The Gloss Bomb has just a tiny bit more pigment in my opinion. Not a huge deal. - These are beautiful, but like most glosses they don’t last hours and hours. I think on average these wear well on me for up to two hours. So plan to reapply. I do also find that this formula is just a tiny bit more fluid/ moveable compared to Fenty’s. Worth it? I 100% think this is worth giving a go if you like the Fenty Gloss Bombs and need to save some coin. Love the effect, love the price, love the colours. 👍🏼 Will I repurchase? After trying this gloss out in Moon, I actually went back and got it in another colour, Ice, which I have been absolutely loving (possibly even more than this shade). So technically.. I already have?! 🥰

Fave concealers for dark circles and acne scars
Fave concealers for dark circles and acne scars
I run into dilemmas with concealers and it typically boils down to one main thing: I want my skin to look as natural and the least cakey possible. BUT I usually feel the need to cover my very dark under eye circles (they are genetic) and to cover my continually present acne scars (hormonal acne 🙃). I’m currently recovering from a major acne flare up around my chin so I definitely need a little more coverage than usual and I typically reach for two main concealers to help me out: Glossier. - Stretch Concealer which I typically use under my eyes most days and then on my more problem areas on more ‘no makeup’ type days. + Brightens up my under eyes and the coverage is definitely buildable. + Looks very dewy and never cakey. You look a little more radiant after applying this concealer. + Your skin still looks like skin after you apply this. It really provides you with the ‘your skin, but better’ look. + It feels very moisturizing and it never flakes or dries down weird. I hate when concealers do this under my eyes. + This little tub has lasted me a long long time! Definitely worth the price tag. - It does crease. But if you set it with some very light powder, then creasing is minor / nonexistent. - This might be just a me thing but ordering my perfect concealer shade online...never works out. My current shade was definitely too dark for me in the winter, but thankfully has bene perfect for the summer. It’s just so hard to tell! - It’s a lighter coverage product so if you have some very dark spots (like my acne scars) they will likely show through at least a little bit. MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Concealer which is a little more full coverage and I typically use this to cover my acne scars if I want them to fully disappear or under my eyes if I want to go a little more full coverage. + So affordable and accessible at the drugstore. And there is a pretty good shade range. + As I said above, I would say this is more medium to full coverage so it makes my acne scars disappear and it’s definitely buildable. + This provides a little less of a dewy finish and more of skin-like finish. It really blends in well and doesn’t look cakey. + This definitely stays put and is long-lasting throughout the day. - This one also creases a tiny bit under the eyes (less than stretch) but with translucent powder it’s almost perfect. - This feels a little less moisturizing under the eyes than the stretch concealer, but that doesn’t bother me too much. It provides higher coverage as a trade off. Ps I have combo, acne prone skin and thankfully neither of these broke me out :)

How I grow my natural nails
How I grow my natural nails
**Note that my nails used to be frail, brittle old things that could NEVER know length due to nail extensions! Just last year, I was so in love with getting nail extensions. The length, the designs, the colors—I did not go one week without my bare nails showing for most of 2019! Then last September, I decided my nails needed a break (and I needed to save some money!) so I started to rehab my nails! Rehabbing my nail beds The first thing to do is get your nail beds free from any damage from nail extensions. This takes some time! I let my nails grow but I always cut away when it started to get length. I was going off of the theory with hair; cutting it makes it grow faster. It worked because by November, my nail beds were healthy! Supplement growth To help my nails grow healthily, I took my biotin supplements. I love the nature bounty one bc it’s yummy mostly 😂 NATURE'S BOUNTY - Optimal Solutions Hair, Skin and Nails Gummies Prevent breakage A big reason my nails always broke was because I never protected them! So I started brushing them with .INC. - Back to Life Recovery Treatment & Base Coat which really kept it strong and healthy as it grew. I also stayed super conscious of doing things that would break my nails, like washing dishes, moving big items, etc. I live alone so I have to do all these things myself, therefore I wear gloves when doing dishes and try to avoid grabbing things with too much nail. Not sure how to explain the last one😬

I really liked The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and would purchase again but I enjoy experimenting with different products so I decided to switch it up. I was using TO’s Niacinamide & Zinc in the AM and PM after toner. Now, I use DIFFERIN - Dark Spot Correcting Serum in the AM after toner and CerVe Resurfacing Rentinol Serum in the PM (which contains Niacinamide). I am continuing to see improvement in my overall skin texture and relief from hyperpigmentation. What do I like better? I do love TO’s Niacinamide & Zinc and think I will go back to it, it’s less expensive and I find the Differin serum to have a really strong chemical smell. Both go on easily under my make-up so no weird texture problems there. Although I’m planning to repurchase TO’s Niacinamide & Zinc I’d like to still include the CeraVe serum in my routine. CeraVe is an incredible brand and I’m happy to see them adding so my new products to their line! As far as the spot dots/pimple patches... neither of these brands are really impressing me currently. I used to use these with incredible results but lately I haven’t been experiencing the same results 🤷🏻‍♀️
