The Only Clean Primer You’ll Need!
Words truly can’t express my excitement when I found out that Tatcha was releasing a LIQUID version of the very loved Silk Canvas primer! I have found that the Silk Canvas primer is the best pore filling primer out there on the market, but because the original is a putty-like formula, you have to work it into your skin. Make no mistake, this lovely product is not just suited for those who wear makeup; this weightless & oil free primer serves as protection against pollution from the environment, as well as a barrier between your skin and makeup. 🌟 What does it do? 🌟 Blurs - Formulated with silk extracts to fill in pores / diminish the appearance of enlarged pores, while leaving your skin feeling nourished. It also fills in fine lines and other imperfections to truly give you that even canvas to work with. Primes - Formulated with silk powder allows makeup to apply evenly and extends the longevity of wear time; as well as oil free to minimize the appearance of shine throughout the day. Protect - As I mentioned earlier, this primer is a great way to protect your skin from pollutants and creates a barrier between your skin and makeup products / sunscreen. Enhances - This primer includes ingredients such as pink & gold pearl that work together to promote even, balanced skin tones. Anti Aging - Jam packed with beneficial Japanese superfoods such as green tea, rice and algae - it’s safe to say this is almost a fountain of youth cocktail as it restores your skin to have a youthful radiance. ❣️What do I think? ❣️ I love this primer so much I am almost tempted to toss out my entire collection of primers. This will definitely be front and center on my vanity. Per usual, the packaging is beautiful, clean, and sophisticated. I love the frosted glass appearance with the classic lavender. I feel like Tatcha really lives up to all of the claims they put out about their products - I was able to visibly see a difference when using this product, with and without using makeup on top. You get 1 oz of product in the component, which is fair - most primers that you’d buy, drugstore or high end are about 1 oz. This does retail for $52, which is on the higher end BUT you’re getting a product that actually works from a trusted brand - I believe it is 100% worth the investment! #Tatcha - Liquid Silk Canvas[products]#
Bare With Us 🐘
No filter. No special lighting. Just me, my Drunk Elephant nighttime routine & my ridiculous avocado eye mask! If someone told me a year ago that I would be posting a picture like this, I would of seriously laughed in their face - me, no filter, no makeup, on the Internet?! But Drunk Elephant has changed my mentality and has given me a sense of confidence like no other. My skin has never looked or felt so great in 29 years! 🐘 What I used tonight : washed the day away using my Pekee cleansing bar and whipped up a smoothie using Lala Retro Whipped Cream, a pump of B-Hydra, a pea size of A-Passioni, and two drops of Virgin Marula oil. I let that marinate & sink into the skin for 15 minutes and topped it off with F-Balm & Shaba for the eyes. 💗 DRUNK ELEPHANT - F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask

Clean Beauty 🌱 Fad Or Real Deal?!
As the beauty world continues to grow, we are seeing more and more brands either starting out or reformulating to be considered a clean beauty brand. This movement reminds me all too well of when eating organic & staying away from preservatives became a major lifestyle trend, and continues to be to this day! People are constantly finding ways to better themselves, whether it’s better healthier habits, better exercise, and now clean beauty for flawless looking skin. The question is: Is this just a fad or is clean beauty really the road to the best skin one can have? Up until around November of 2019, I didn’t really have a strict skincare regime. I washed my face in the shower with drugstore products like Clean & Clear scrub, and use whatever moisturizer was laying around. I didn’t use face masks, under eye gel patches, and I had no idea what toner or essence was! 😂 It really wasn’t until I started my makeup beauty account on IG almost a year ago that I started learning about skincare routines and how important it was to have one. But as I said, it wasn’t until November 2019 that I discovered Drunk Elephant, clean beauty, layering / mixing, and listening to my skin’s needs (needs more hydrating products, nourishing products, pore clearing products, etc). I will 100% stand by and say that my skin has never looked better since using Drunk Elephant products. But because I do try out and test products for IG, I can’t sit here and say it’s ALL I use. But I can tell you that my skin definitely reacts now (and I don’t have sensitive skin either!) when I use certain products because it is so accustomed to DE and their wonderful, beneficial ingredients. So do I think you can only have flawless looking skin using clean beauty products? No. I had relatively nice skin, no acne issues or breakouts, before having a proper skincare regime. There are also plenty of clean beauty brands that are affordable on the market like The Inkey List & Good Molecules. I think the key to great looking skin is just by listening to your skin’s needs, testing new products out in small skin patches to prevent reactions, and just using a trial and error method. What works for one person may not work for the next, and that’s perfectly fine. That’s the beautiful thing about this beauty community - there are an endless amount of options for everyone to find something that works for them!

Pore Control Toner
I have been on the market for awhile now looking for a new toner to incorporate into my skincare routine, so I was genuinely excited when Saturday Skin gifted me their NEW Pore Clarifying Toner! Made up of 10% glycolic acid to help keep your skin clear, Saturday Skin also formulated their own pore control complex that includes ingredients such as witch hazel, tea tree oil and red clover. These ingredients target pore concerns such as enlarged, clogged pores. After applying this toner, you’ll be left with smooth, refined, balanced skin. This toner is suitable for all skin types and Saturday Skin takes pride in being a clean brand - no parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances or synthetic color. I love applying this toner using cotton squares; I ensure that there is a generous amount of product without completely saturating the cotton square, and then I pass it all over my skin. I then use my clean hands to press the toner into my skin, ensuring all those wonderful ingredients seep into my skin. I also enjoy this product chilled so I store mine in my skincare fridge - the cooling sensation is refreshing! I’ve been enjoying this product so much that I want to try more from the brand! Retailing at $30, you can find this toner at Sephora under their Clean at Sephora category.

Blue Blood 💙🩸
I’ve said it before & I will say it again - Jeffree Star eyeshadow palettes are like Pokémon to me; I have to have them all. I actually received this in a Jeffree Star mystery box, which I was super excited about because I had been chasing after it for a while. Jeffree Star Cosmetics eyeshadow formula is on my Top 3 list. I don’t even have to wait for reviews on his palettes because his formula has been consistent since day 1. Generally with other brands, they’ll release a palette and there will be some shades that are mind blowing, and other shades that are mediocre - not with JSC. All across the board, with each and every shade, they ensure that the quality level is the same. I never experience issues with blending - the shadows are never chalky, dry, or patchy. I have never come across a shade that lacked pigment; in fact, JSC takes pride in knowing that their formula is one of the most pigmented out there. Now I know blue eyeshadow isn’t for everyone - I would be lying if I sat here and said this is my everyday go to palette - it’s not. That being said, I can tell you that I reach for this palette more than I initially thought I would. I was first intimidated by all of the blue; but if you really look at it; there are a number of usable, wearable shades. And of course, the palette holds a novelty meaning to me - it’s part of my JSC collection. The brand did an amazing job with the packaging, per usual. I feel like with each palette, Jeffree Star raises the bar for not only himself, but for other brands as well. I get this sense of owning something special and one of a kind. 💙

Drugstore Products That Work - Dove Hairspray
Dove - Style+Care Micro Mist Hairspray *hair is mostly fine and wavy Let’s talk hairspray! I feel like I was very scared of using hair spray for a very long time because I didn’t want my hair to have that crunchy texture like I thought it would. Basically because when I was younger that’s exactly what hairspray DID. When I went searching for a hairspray on a trip to Calgary I was so cautious and wanted something that would hold my curls in place but leave me with body and a soft texture. That’s when I found this. I have to say I was hesitant to use a Dove hair product because I’ve just always known Dove to be more of a body brand. This hair spray was cheap ($15?) and the slim and sleek packaging along with the “micro mist” had me sold. The packaging is perfect for holding to be honest. I feel like you don’t think of these things until you’ve actually tried something better and you’re like oh ya that’s nice. The slim waist in the bottle (lol) actually makes it super easy to hold and spray. The drawback is that aerosol sprayer doesn’t work the greatest and some product usually fizzes and gets on my hands. The micro mist itself does hold true to its claim and is very fine which is nice in ensuring you don’t get that crunchy texture. The smell is a little too sweet for my likings but I usually use it with a hair fragrance that masks the smell. I use this for holding my curls and for flattening flyaways and it works just as I want it to. There’s a few different versions of this hairspray in the line so I would like to maybe try another one of those before repurchasing this. Overall though it’s a good product for relatively cheap and the can has lasted me since November with no foreseeable end in sight.

Drugstore Products That Work - Neutrogena Hydro
Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel Cream Moisturizer 50ml *skin is normally oily/combo but has been dry recently Okay you guys. This is it. This is really the drugstore product that blew me away. I am so glad that I have it. This product was recommended to me by a friend and I had seen @abbymariehardie rave about the product for a long while before trying it myself. A few weeks ago I was in a dire state of dry skin. I mean BAD. Like skin was cracking and burned and flaking and not a single moisturizer or mask I owned was going to help fix it. In my last hour of desperation I was at Walmart and saw this and figured I had nothing to lose. My thoughtful bf bought it for me at $18 which is pricey for drugstore but well worth the money. I saw immediate results after using it. Like instant almost. It did burn a little at first use because my skin barrier was just so damaged but after it had sunk in it had a nice cooling effect and left me feeling much more hydrated. I’ve said it a million times that I don’t like moisturizers in a pot and I wish so badly this was a pump or a tube but that’s really my only complaint about the packaging. The texture is a thicker blue gel which absorbs so nicely and is probably one of the biggest reasons I find this works for me. I really prefer a gel moisturizer to anything and so I was excited about this texture. This version does have a fragrance to it which I’ll be honest, I don’t LOVE but it’s not a deal breaker. I have been told (thanks @svvphia) that it comes in a fragrance free version for sensitive skin which I 1000% percent will be purchasing when this is empty. This pot hasn’t lasted me very long compared to other moisturizers and there’s a little less product than the package would have you believe but to be fair, I’ve pretty much used this day and night for a month straight. I still have some left so we’re going to count that as a win even though I’m getting dangerously low. I definitely recommend this product to anyone that will listen. It works. It’s affordable. Buy it. I’m going to repurchase.

Hyped Products That Didn’t Do It - Bliss Cleanse
bliss - Makeup Melt Jelly Cleanser *skin is normally oily/combo but has recently been dry Ok y’all another Target find. I had heard really really good things about this cleanser - even that it was a dupe for the infamous Glossier cleanser. Not that I’ve tried that one but those reviews are very positive as well. I decided I’d try the mini version because it was $3 USD and I wasn’t sure I’d like it and I’m glad I did. I had been looking for a makeup removing cleanser to replace my beloved very cherry clean from Farmacy and maybe I just loved it too much to replace it but this just didn’t do it for me. I found it really really dried my face out and I didn’t love the smell. It did an okay job at removing makeup but I always had to follow up with a hydrating second cleanser. The mini was great to be able to try the product without committing to a big bottle with a full sized price. I am disappointed again because this had such great reviews but it just didn’t work for my skin. I would repurchase.

Hyped Products That Just Didn’t Do It - DE TLC
DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum *skin is normally oily/combo but has recently been dry Okay guys I am v worried I’m about to get a lot of heat for these next reviews but I owe it to everyone to be honest. I know Drunk Elephant has a huge cult following and everyone loves them but to be completely honest - I’ve never really been wowed by anything I’ve tried. This mini TLC Framboos was part of a day time/night time set I got a long while ago. I used it for a few weeks consistently and then stopped because it just wasn’t doing anything. I wasn’t wowed by any of the results. I know there’s a lot of really good reviews out there for this product specifically but I can’t say it any plainer than it just wasn’t for me. I also find it really expensive (as a brand and this product specifically) and I just can’t bring myself to spend much money on something that I could easily replace. I will say of course, that Drunk Elephant knows their marketing and the packaging on this is super cute and easy to use. Again just a mini, but even the full size product is crafted well. Overall this isn’t for me, I wouldn’t buy a full size, and I would probably recommend other night serums over this. Please don’t hate me guys I’m sorry I respect DE!

Hyped Products That Just Don’t Do It - DE Marula
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Antioxidant Face Oil *skin is normally oily/combo but has been dry recently Ok another DE product. Is this the same type of social suicide as tweeting that you don’t like Taylor swift and waiting for her fans to come at you? Probably. Again in the name of honesty!!! This was the other half to that DE set with TLC Framboos. Ok so to be fair, I liked the Marula oil better than the Framboos. I still don’t love it and it’s by far not my favourite facial oil at all (big shout out to lapis and emerald, my girls). I saw a little more in terms of results with the Marula oil - my face was softer, gave it a bit of a glow (probably because it made me a tad more oily than normal). Again though, I just wasn’t wowed by the product. I certainly would not buy the full size for full price as I think there’s other facial oils that do a lot more for my skin and probably cost around the same if not less. Again, big fan of the packaging - it’s cute, easy to use, minis are a great size for travelling. No complaints there. I really wanted to be a bigger fan but just can’t say these are for me.

Hyped Products That Just Didn’t Do It - MILK
Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Moisturizer *skin is normally oily/combo but has recently been dry I feel like I should clarify that I really hope I’m not offending anyone with these not so glowing reviews. If you love these products I’m really glad! Not everything works for everyone but I respect that you get better results out of these than I did! Anyway, this moisturizer was hella hyped. Saw it all over the gram. I get what there is to be excited about - a thiccccc vegan moisturizer from a really great brand. I WANTED to love it too!!!!! I actually got this full size product in one of the Cherie gift boxes I’ve won during this round of Cherie’s picks and was so so excited about it because of how hyped it was. I have a TON of unopened moisturizers so I didn’t immediately rip into this (as I sometimes have a habit of doing when I’m excited about a new product - despite what I already have open). Instead, I got a little sample package with one of my Sephora orders and decided to use that first. A smart move I must say. I’ve been in this really dry spot with my skin since winter started. It’s bad. Like flaking and burning and I’ve been looking for products to soothe and moisturize high and low. When I opened the sample and she was THICC I figured it might actually help a lot with my dry skin. Usually I prefer a lighter, gel moisturizer so my opinions on this might be biased based on that too. I applied and it took forever to rub in. I feel like maybe I used too much product because i just couldn’t get it to absorb at first. As a mask/night moisturizer this would probably work really well for that reason, but for a day time moisturizer it really delayed me putting my makeup on on top because it wouldn’t sink in lol. I also noticed a little bit of a greasy residue on my skin - again maybe because it wasn’t absorbing really. I’m not sure if this is weird or a just me type thing but I usually apply my moisturizer around my lips as well and I especially noticed a weird residue feeling around them after use. It really just threw me off. Other than that it just wasn’t my fave moisturizer, the packaging is gorgeous - a beautiful and vibrant yellow pot. It’s plastic but it’s heavy. I know someone else will love it way more than I will so this might show up in a non-affiliated instagram giveaway at some point.
