Sensitive Skin Ingredients
This is a great guide to show skin sensitive issues ingredients! When I was dealing with skin barrier inflammation, some of these products saved my life. Ingredients I swear by: Aloe Vera: this is great for inflammation and red skin. The plant is amazingly effective, but you can also buy the 100% gel at your local store as well! Fruit of the Earth - Aloe Vera 100% Gel SKINFOOD - Aloe Vera 93% Soothing Gel Green Tea: The tea is a favorite I drink every morning, but I also love this in mask form! TONYMOLY - I'm Real Green Tea Sheet Mask Vitamin C Derivative: There’s many forms of Vitamin C. The strongest, L- Ascorbic Acid, is mostly toted for their effects, but there are other options. Sodium Ascorbly Phosphate, Magnesium Ascorbly Phospahte, etc. If you have skin sensitivity (burning, tingling, etc) to Vitamin C I recommend : Seoul Ceuticals - 20% Vitamin C Hyaluronic Acid Serum Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum Lukewarm Water to Rinse: I recommend this no matter type of skin you have. Hot water can dry your face out, making you skin more irritable and sensitive. Less is Key: When experiencing sensitivity it can often be associated to new products and the amount you use on your face. You do not need a 10 step routine to treat skin issues I found when I was using 3-4 steps my skin was treated just as effectively, you just need to find what works for your skin. Mineral sunscreen: There are two types of sunscreen physical and mineral. Physical are usually chemical based and can cause irritation. Some great mineral sunscreens I’ve tried: Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Neutrogena - Sensitive Skin Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 50 My skin is not as sensitive as it was before but this is great photo I got from (babeandbeauty on IG).

i thought i would also do an update on what products i have been using, since i just added a few a couple weeks ago! *** i do not use all of these every single day! *** night time routine: i’ll start off with the Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel , which i have a love, hate relationship with. i love the way it makes my skin feel cleansed of makeup or dirt at the end of the day, but unfortunately it has fragrance, so removing my mascara definitely burns. i then wash my face with the Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser , which i also just realized has fragrance pretty low in the ingredient list, but i still am okay with using it. after cleansing, VERSED - JUST BREATHE Clarifying Serum i use this serum, which has great ingredients in it for controlling the balance of your skin, and also calming it. i just got this around a week ago, but i love how fast my skin absorbs it! after applying serum, i use the Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer , and i absolutely love this moisturizer. i use the fragrance free one (there is one with and without fragrance), and it doesn’t make my skin sting and it feels really hydrating. after this i will apply the FARMACY - Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream with Acerola Cherry , i don’t know how much of a difference it makes but 5 stars because no fragrance and it feels great :) lastly, i will sometimes use the HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original and Invisible+ Bundle , i like how it helps protect the breakout from environmental factors, but i don’t know how much it actually helps inflammation go down. if my skin is feeling extra dry, i will use The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil , which makes my skin feel great, but i feel like it causes me to breakout around my chin area, so i don’t use it more than 3 times a week. lastly, i will sometimes use the cocokind - Turmeric stick at night and i love, love, love this. it helps with calming inflammation, brightening your skin, and is super easy to apply. my only concern is the fact that the application is stick form, so it may transfer bacteria even if your skin is clean. but other than that, it doesn’t aggravate my skin and all of their products are amazing and i love the packaging and what the company stands for!
Trader Joe’s Skincare
My thoughts on some products: 1a) TRADER JOE'S - Nourish Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum ($8.99 in stores). ~ Vs ~ 1b) The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 ($6.80 from Ulta and Sephora stores). NOTES: Very similar to one another I prefer to keep both in my skincare routine because I like to switch around my products a lot. Trader Joe’s is more of a serum so it’s a little lighter than the ordinaries product, but both serum and acid products are great for an increase in skin cell production due to the extra hydration these products provide for our skin. the ordinaries product does make my face feel a bit more tight. 2) TRADER JOE'S - Vitamin Oil E ($3.99 for 4 fl oz) NOTES: I use this product in my hair (mixed with olive oil, honey, and lavender for a hair mask), I fill up a glass roller and use it underneath my eyes, and I use a small amount on my face before bed twice a week. Aids with dryness around my face and doesn’t cause extra oil build up in my t-zone. Additional benefits include healing of scars and brightening of the complexion as well. 3) TRADER JOE'S - Nourish Oil-Free Antioxidant Facial Moisturizer ($5.99 for 6 fl oz) NOTES: This is my dupe for the TATCHA - The Water Cream . It’s almost the same consistency to me and gives me that same fresh feeling. it’s so light that you can use it at night before bed and feel hydrated in the morning, but is also my favorite cream to use prior to putting on my sunscreen in the morning. it’s also one of my favorite moisturizers to use in my face after the shower.
Nourish Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum. 10/10
💡Trader Joe’s did it again for me! I seriously love this product and actually paired it with the Ultra Hydrating Gel moisturizer! Both helped me with the dry patches. 🥺♥️🥰 ✨The game plan here is simple, really: do all that you can to lock in your skin’s natural moisture, then add to it as needed. Hyaluronic acid does a little bit of both. A gram of the stuff can attract & hold several liters of water!, and it helps form a light, protective barrier on the skin. We like apply water-based, unscented, non-comedogenic, dermatologist-formulated. TRADER JOE'S - Nourish Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum
This is my current shampoo and conditioner duo that I use on the curls! I love trying new DevaCurl products for my curls! This shampoo and conditioner works well for my somewhat damaged curls! I love their No Poo Shampoo, because it lets me clean my hair without striping it of the hydration it needs. It has a very subtle, pleasant scent and easily rinses out! I wish the conditioner left my hair just a touch more hydrated, but overall these products make a solid duo! I think any curly girl should try out a DevaCurl shampoo and conditioner!
My absolutely crazy hair journey after chemo
When I lost my hair to chemo I was absolutely devastated. I always had long and thick wavy hair. After I lost it I was looking for absolutely everything and anything to grow my hair. The best thing is patience!! I know we want instant results, but you gotta learn your hair. I ended up growing curly hair to my surprise and didn’t know a single thing about taking care of it!! First off, I strongly recommend looking at the back of your shampoo bottles (yes even the ones that claim to be natural) and look for something called DMDM. This is SO bad for your hair and causes you to lose hair in the hand loads. For so long I wasn’t aware that this was in my shampoos and blamed chemo and medications for all my hair loss even after I grew it back. The shampoo I listed below has been a miracle! I found it at Marshall’s for 6.99 including the hydrating conditioner. I also apply the leave in conditioner and I saw results in 2 months. I went from barely reaching my shoulders to the 3rd picture above. I also use the spray after my hair dries a little more and after I use a styler. Also try transitioning to 2-3 washes a week it’ll do wonders. I’d also recommend using a scalp brush in the shower to get your roots and make sure you’re removing product build up. After you get out try using a hair turban instead of your towel, it’ll reduce breakage!! SheaMoisture - Argan Oil & Almond Milk Smooth & Tame Conditioner SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Shampoo SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner ogx - Renewing Argan Oil Of Morocco Weightless Healing Dry Oil ARGAN MAGIC Defining Curl Cream

Drunk Elephant- The Littles 🐘
I won this cute little kit in a raffle & I couldn’t be more thankful! I have always wanted to try these products but never wanted to spend the money on all of them incase I didn’t like them! Inside this kit are the following products: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 That’s literally a whole skincare routine! So far I started out my day with one of Drunk Elephants infamous “Face Smoothies” I washed my face with Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser & then combined C-Firma Day Serum, Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, & Protini Polypeptide Cream together on my mixing trey with a disposable skincare spatula! I applied it all over my face & neck. Once that absorbed, I applied Umbra Tinte Daily Defense SPF 30 over my face & neck & was done! I love how the kit comes with steps to walk you through different routines you can use in the morning or at night! I will do a follow up review after I have used all the products for a few weeks! But so far, my skin feels & looks great! I have been breaking out lately & haven’t felt the best about my skin so I really needed this pick me up!! Thank you for reading! Argan oil's versatility 💪🏻
Argan oil is great because it: moisturizes dry skin - especially elbows, kneecaps, and feet heals skin - like rashes or skin irritation on the body (don't use on the face) is ok for those with sensitive skin is a great conditioner for hair, i use it after i shower fixes / smooths dead ends of hair keeps ends of hair from going wild doesn't empty your wallet! $6 for 3.3 or 4 oz - two different bottles, one is a pump (4 oz) and the other is a little bottle to pour (3.3 oz) The one I own: ogx - Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Extra Penetrating Hair Oil I've had it for about two years now and I'm only about 1/4 of the way through it! Only a few drops are needed. I'm serious - a little goes a very long way! Also it smells so good!

$10 Drugstore Shampoo/Conditioner Saviour!
Salicylic acid in a drugstore shampoo? live clean - Professional Healthy Scalp Balancing Shampoo and live clean - Healthy Scalp Balancing Conditioner are new to the shelves in my province in Canada. I have seborrheic dermatitis and have tried pretty much everything to clear up my flaky, itchy, dry, sometimes painful scalp. From steroid creams to dandruff shampoo to tar, I’ve used it all. I had to stop getting my hair bleached and coloured because my scalp would crack and pus would dry onto it (sorry if this is TMI). This year, I have a patch on my neck just at the base of my hairline (see second picture). I was using WELLA PROFESSIONALS - Invigo Balance Senso Calm Sensitive Shampoo and my scalp flakes were nonexistent for the most part, but it didn’t clear up this patch, which is very visible when I wear my hair up. I used it with Briogeo - Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager and found this thing is a miracle worker for really working product into the scalp. After using this app, I discovered salicylic acid was good for most of my issues besides just my scalp and I have been searching for it ever since. It’s supposed to help seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis and when I found this shampoo set I snatched it up! After about two weeks of use (I don’t wash my hair everyday), I can feel the products working to exfoliate my scalp. There’s still a small scaly patch on my neck, but I’m expecting great things and it is a lot less red and irritated. I’ve been finishing my nightly routine with CeraVe - Renewing SA Lotion on the patch on my neck (as well as pretty much everywhere on my body as it’s good for so many reasons!

I saw a quote once that said “climate change won’t be solved by a handful of people reducing their impact perfectly, but by a lot of people [and corporations] reducing their impact imperfectly.” Lately, I’ve been considering how I can be more intentional about the things I buy and businesses I buy from. This is my small (but mighty) zero-waste collection. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start! Next on my list is a bamboo toothbrush. I’m also choosing to buy from brands that implement eco-friendly initiatives, are minority- or woman-owned, and/or have mentorship programs in place. You can find a lot of this info on a brand’s FAQ webpage! Companies that I feel good about include Shea Moisture, Acure, Dr. Bronner’s, Kinship, Maelove, Dove, Native, Ethique, BounceCurl, Radius.. there are so many to name! Also remember that the most eco-friendly products are the ones you currently own. So use up what you have before going on a low-waste shopping spree :) (Reviews for these are already up on my page) 🦷RADIUS - Usda Organic Floss 🥝ethique - Eco-Friendly Heali Kiwi Shampoo Bar For Touchy Scalps 🧼Dove - Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar
