🚨AHA’s OR BHA’s- WHAT SHOULD YOU BE USING? 🚨
If you haven’t heard of AHA’s / BHA’s, or maybe you’ve heard a lot about them but are not sure what they are and how to use them I hope you find this post informative and helpful 💛 What are they? ✨ AHA stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acids and BHA stands for Beta Hydroxy Acids - these are two popular categories of chemical exfoliants. ✨ Chemical exfoliants are used to weaken the lipids that bond the upper layer of skin, effectively removing dull and dead skin cells whilst promoting healthy cell regeneration to reveal younger and healthier looking skin ✨ AHA’s and BHA’s have unique properties that make them suitable for certain skin types and concerns, here’s the difference: AHA’s - are water soluble acids, these are recommend for people with normal to dry and sun damaged skin. They are proven to enhance skins moisture content and reduce visible signs of sun damage. They promote cell regeneration and will leave skin looking smoother and more even. *if you are a beginner it’s best to apply new products every other day until your skin gets used to them. **AHA’s increase your skin sensitivity, it’s an absolute must to wear high SPF sunscreens when using AHA’s BHA’s - Oil soluble acids, the oil loving molecules give BHA’s the ability to penetrate deeper into skin surface and clean right into your pores, removing excess sebum and dead skin cells deep below the skins surface BHA’s are best for oily and acne prone skin-types, and can effectively get rid of blackheads and white heads. It also has strong anti-inflammatory/ antibacterial properties to help keep skin blemish free. * Once again, if you are a beginner acclimate your skin the chemicals slooooowly. Try applying a few times a week, then slowly increase usage. ** Although BHA’s won’t specifically make your skin sensitive to UV rays, it’s still important to wear sunscreen to avoid damage and early signs of aging. Is it an AHA or BHA ?! ✨Glycolic Acid - AHA ✨Lactic Acid - AHA ✨Tartaric Acid - AHA ✨Citric Acid - AHA ✨Mandelic Acid - AHA ✨Salicylic Acid - BHA ✨ some formulations of Citric acid - BHA 🚨BECAREFUL: Layering another exfoliating acid over the raw delicate skin can overdo it and result in dryness, redness, irritation or even chemical burns. 🚨I encourage you to get to know these ingredients, and be aware how to use them and to not layer them over each other by accident. The ordinary offers many of these acids at affordable price points in higher concentrations, it’s easy to get a big skincare haul and want to try everything right away, but I care about all your sweet sweet faces too much to let that happen so please be careful, and remember no AHA’s without sunscreen💛 HERBIVORE - Prism 12% AHA + 3% BHA Exfoliating Glow Serum The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA(AHA)

Okay, so I saw this hack on @GlowK‘s page and had to try it! And honestly I’m hooked. Originally when I tried these product I thought they were alrighhhhht, but I wasn’t totally sold. I found the cleanser a little bit drying, and I’ve been having trouble fitting face oils into my routine... until now! 🤩 It’s as easy as putting about a nickle size of cleanser in your hand and 4 or 5 drops of the superberry face oil. I like to mix it up in my palm then apply to a damp face for about 60-90 seconds, ideally enough time to let both these products work their magic ✨ ✨This combo gives me the hydration I need, especially with the seasons changing 🍃🍂🍁 ✨The smell of the combo heavenly, mostly thanks to the Superberry face oil. I totally encourage you, if you didn’t fall in love with this cleanser the first time to give this way a go. It’s makes a perfect first cleanse and may be able to help you extend this cleanser into your fall routine seamlessly 💛✨🌿 Any other YTTP hacks floating around that I should know about ? NIACINAMIDE?! I HARDLY KNOW HER! ✨
Niacinamide, what even is it ?! This product seems to be recommended non stop, and with such at such an affordable entry point from The Ordinary ($5.90) it seems to make sense to pick it up even if you aren’t really sure what it is or does. I couldn’t even pronounce niacinamide before a few weeks ago so I wanted to do some research and figure out what all the hype is about. So let’s talk break it down ✨Niacinamide is a multifunctional skincare superstar with several proven benefits for the skin! ✨ Niacinamide also called nicotinamide is a form of Vitamin B-3 , Niacinamide can boost collagen production as well as the production of keratin, filaggrin and involcurin (These are important proteins for your skin). If your skin is lacking these proteins it can mean poor skin structure, reduced skin elasticity and more wrinkles, which I don’t think any of us want! ✨ Niacinamide can help fade hyperpigmentation. If you are targeting dark spots in your skincare routine combining Niacinamide with Acetyl Glucosamine will give even better results 🤩 You can also combine Niacinamide with Vitamin C, Arbutin or Kojic Adic to promote the production of tyrosinase an enzyme that plays an important role in melanin production ✨Niacinamide has skin barrier repair functions, by increasing the production of free fatty acids, cholesterol and ceramics. This results in better hydrated skin, decrease trans epidermal water loss and ultimately a stronger and healthier skin barrier. And lastly, ✨ Niacinamide has anti acne properties in its abilities to regulate sebum, and it’s anti inflammatory properties which is also useful for minimizing rosacea as well as atopic dermatitis. So basically, Niacinamide is a total holy grail ingredient and I would definitely recommend incorporating it into your skincare routine. One thing to note is potency, less is really more in this situation, 5% niacinamide has show positive results in all above mentioned categories without causing skin irritation, personally I use 10% and wouldn’t recommend going any higher then that especially if you are new to the product. 🌿 Skincare is a marathon, not a sprint so take it slow and aim for long term results over a quick fix 🌿 I use The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% But a couple other options are: PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Serum

✨your follows and cheers mean so much 💛✨ See PT.1 for a little bit about the brand 💛 .... Here’s what I thought about the mask 💪🏼 |PERFORMANCE| I really liked this mask, it left my skin feeling super hydrated and dewy. I was pleased with how well it stayed on my face am excited to be better acquainted with this Brand. 🤲🏻 |TEXTURE| The mask is a soft and comfortable, the essence inside is a clear gel consistency - I really liked the consistency cause it stayed on my face and didn’t run. I was able to use it while sitting up and not worry about it falling off or sliding down. 👃🏻|SCENT| A pleasant cranberry and papaya smells comes through when applying, that leaves a super faint lingering smell after the mask is removed. 💦 |INGREDIENTS| Theres a long list of super ingredients in this mask; ❤️Cranberry - Contains Vitamins A and C can help boost collagen production and improve skin elasticity 🧡Papaya - Can help clear blemishes and pigmentation, also the enzyme papain in papayas is a powerful exfoliator the helps rejuvenate the skin by removing dead skin cells and inactive proteins. 💛Vitamin C - Promotes collagen production and helps diminish fine lines helps keep skin looking firm and youthful 💚Avocado Oil - Contains a high percentage of Vitamin E, making it excellent for moisturizing the skin. 🤍Hyaluronic Acid - I think by now we are all well acquainted with this super moisturizing ingredient that leads to some ultra hydrated skin. 💙Blueberry Extract - Powerful antioxidant to help fight cell-damaging free radicals 💜Retinol - Stimulates cell turnover, therefore renewing skin from the bottom up. 💸 |VALUE| This typically goes for $4 a mask on their website but I was able to scoop up a three pack for only $6.99. The mask was sturdy, fit my face well and I was happy with the results! I also like that there’s a little extra essence in the package that they encourage you to use on your neck and jawline Like I said in my last post, this will be the first of many the Crème shop products I will try 😍 the CRÈME shop - Rainbow Face Mask Printed with Rainbow Hearts

THE CRÈME SHOP PT.1 ✨🌿💛
✨your follows and cheers mean so much 💛✨ It’s been awhile since I’ve done a sheet mask, but with the weather changing I’m finding my skin needing a little hydration boost. This cute the creme shop mask ticked all the right boxes for what I was looking for. I’d purchased some of their tools before, but wanted to do a little research on the company, and take a look at the ingredients. So before I talk about the mask, here’s a little bit about The Crème shop. The Crème shop began as a contract manufacturer in South Korea more than 45 years ago. In 1988 the opened their North American headquarters in Los Angelas were they have been crafting high-quality beauty products at an approachable price point. Most of their skincare is still made in Korea and is indicated on the packaging. The Creme shop is an all inclusive brand and they are 100% cruelty free. One of my favourite lines from the their website is: ‘Our job isn’t to make you beautiful, we simple enhance the beauty that you already posses’ … omg cute 🥺 SEE NEXT POST FOR MASK REVIEW I was a little skeptical at first, because I always see these products discounted at winners and homesense etc. and get hesitant about what ingredients they might be using but now I can comfortably say this will be the first of many the Creme shop masks that I will try! the CRÈME shop - Rainbow Face Mask Printed with Rainbow Hearts

❌ ILL NEVER PUT THIS ON MY FACE AGAIN ❌
✨your follows and cheers mean so much 💛✨ Hey friends, So lately I feel like I can’t win with moisturizers… I got this one an Origins Value set and after a little post purchase research….that I wish I did pre purchase 🙄 I’ll probably never use this moisturizer on my face again. 🍊 This light weight, oil-free energizing moisturizer smells like a dream.. it’s got total creamsicle vibes. I just wish that wasn’t also the reason it’s so bad for your face. Also, your face is your face… you gotta choose ingredients over scent. Anyways, I can’t believe how much yucky stuff is in this guy… here’s a little rundown of the bad guys ❌ Lemon Peel Oil, Grapefruit Peel Oil, Orange Peel Oil - These three ingredients are mainly comprised of limonene, common fragrances that can sensitize the skin they also contain a compound called ‘furanocoumarin’. This compound can make the skin extremely sensitive to sunlight - also known as phytotoxicity, that can lead to sunburns, blisters and other skin problems. That’ll be a no thanks for me…. ❌ Limonene - oxidizes when exposed to air and is a skin sensitizer - 👎🏻 ❌Linalool - aslo oxidizes when exposed to air and turns to an allergenic… so basically the longer its been open, the more likely its going to irratate your skin……..I already know I have a skin care purchasing problem, DONT RUSH ME TOO. ❌and lastly Citral - a common fragrance ingredient that has high allergen potential and should be avoided if you have sensitive skin. With there being 6 less then ideal ingredients in the upper half of the ingredients list, you could definitely say I’m turned off this moisturizer and at best I will never use it in the morning ever again. My blonde hair blue eyed complexion is as much increased skin sensitivity as I need! 🌿I had to give them three stars though because when they do for the environment is unparalleled and I have so much respect for the part of the brand 🌿 If you’ve got a great moisturizer reco, plz… send help. 💛 ORIGINS - GinZing Oil- Free Energy Boosting Gel Moisturizer

GOOD SKIN WITH HONEY🤗🍯
here’s to one of my favourite products I discovered in 2020 and that all of y’all should start using if you are looking for some MAJOUR glow✨ COSRX - Ultimate Moisturizing Honey, Overnight Mask known as an overnight “honey” mask, this has been my go to moisturizer day and night for a while now and I already have a second tube of this because it’s legit that good!! I bought this after one of my skinsta friends kept raving about it and I read lots of the reviews and tons of people love it so I was like alright, it’s affordable so I’ll pick it up and I’m so glad that I did because it’s a favourite in my collection now! 💞 It’s a super light yet think gel formula that packs a ton of hydration, there doesn’t seem to be any fragrance, it legit glides over the skin and skins in sooo well and it works super well over the jet lag mask FYI! I use this everyday now usually in the mornings as it’s lighter than what I use in the evening but it’s a true staple in my routine. Funny thing is, there is no honey in this product😂 it’s all just propolis actually which still is from the bee and has great benefits, especially those of y’all who have acne prone, oily yet sensitive skin! This heals my acne, adds moisture to my skin without weighing it down and the gel has such a cooling feeling on the skin that it instantly makes you feel awake 🌟 You can use this as a wash off but it’s intended use is to keep it over night or a long period of time so I only use it like that to get all the benefits I can from it #cheriepartner

The Cleanser Hack I Cant Believe I Missed 🤯
I have been eyeing oil cleansers for a long time and have never taken the plunge. I almost never wear makeup so really just want a double cleanse on the occasional day when I’m really loaded up with sunscreen, sweat, and dirt. With summer in full force, that’s more and more often recently! Enter the hack: Mix a couple drops of oil into your regular cleanser and use it as if it’s an oil cleanser! When I first saw this beauty hack mentioned, I was a little perplexed, but when I thought about the ingredient lists on many oil cleansers, it made complete sense! After all, many oil cleansers are comprised of the same cleansing ingredients I’m used to plus oil. Products I use: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil 🔸 I mix these together briefly in my palms then apply to dry skin and gently rub it in, focusing on more congested areas like my nose the most. After rubbing it in, I just add water and rinse off like I usually would - it forms a nice rather at this point. 🔸 I’ve been using this combo at night when I need an extra clean and I cannot believe I missed out on it before. This duo pulls the grime out of my skin leaving it extra clean, but ALSO my skin has never felt so soft immediately post cleansing. I am never going back. 🔸 Doing this has convinced me that I do want to get a full-on oil cleanser, but I’ll be using this hack in the meantime. It’s also an amazing way to cut down on how many products you need with you when you travel. These two products are on my must pack list even for a weekend away so I know I’ll be covered! Since I’m in the market for one, what’s your favorite oil cleanser? I have my eye on the BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oilbut would love recommendations!

Post-Holiday Detox Essentials
The holidays are finally over and I’m reeling 🥴. I ate too much bad food and drank too much alcohol. My face is paying majorly for my bad mistakes. Thankfully I’ve got some products in my back pocket that really make me look and feel better than I do: VERSED - THE FIX Emergency Eye Mask this is a thick gel mask formulated with both caffeine and cucumber juice to bring some vivacity back to your under-eye area. I love the consistency, and always lather way more than necessary when I need it. It absorbs quite nicely after a few minutes and I have no problem layering concealer or other products over it. Depending on how bad the bags are it’ll seemingly reduce puffiness, but I don’t know if that’s just me wanting the product to work for me or if it actually does anything. Bonus: keep it in the fridge for that extra cool feeling ❄️. I’ll definitely repurchase when I’m done with this bad boy, solely for post-night out purposes 😉 Fourth Ray - After Hours Detox Face Oil Fourth Ray makes some lovely facial oils and After Hours is no different. It’s formulated with charcoal, salicylic acid, tea tree, and watermelon seed that absorbs excess oil and supports skin clarity. It has a slight fresh fragrance that doesn’t irritate my skin thankfully. It absorbs beautifully in a few minutes or so and leaves my skin looking hydrated and glowy. The only con to this product is the damn dropper. I hate it so much. You have to turn the bottle completely upside down and then it’ll slowly drop product into your palm. Annoying. But at least the product itself is lovely. This is my second bottle of the stuff and it’s only $10, so I will continue repurchasing for sure!! What are your detox faves?

Battle of the sunscreens 🥊
Skin type: combination, acne-prone. Skin concern: avoid sun damage. As I said in another review, I love samples/minis because they give me a chance to try a product before buying the full size. Sunscreens are somewhat complicated. We should look for sunscreens with broad spectrum coverage (UVB/UVA) and an SPF of 30 or higher and always reapply it every 2 hours. You should also be aware of the ingredients that help to deal with specific concerns (acne, fine lines...). This can be tricky, if you are prone to breakouts or have sensitive skin. So you should try sunscreens until you find the best for you Supergoop! - Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 Key ingredients: avobenzone 3%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 10%. Texture: liquid. Scent: unscented. Price: $36 for 1.7 oz. Claims: a makeup gripping primer that leaves a dewy, glowy finish, with sun protection and hydration in the mix. Thoughts: I really like the healthy glow it gives, it is not greasy and the skin feels very soft. It’s ideal for when you don’t want to put makeup. This is definitely my favorite and I would buy the full size. Supergoop! - Smooth & Poreless Mineral Sunscreen Key ingredients: titanium dioxide 0.7%, zinc oxide 17%. Texture: lightweight lotion. Scent: unscented. Price: $38 for 1.5 oz. Claims: 100% mineral sunscreen (reef safe) that helps leave skin looking mattified and poreless. Thoughts: Is non greasy, leaves skin soft and matte without drying it, it goes on smooth as silk. Very lightweight with a touch of color. Dr. Loretta - Urban Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 40 Key ingredients: homosalate 8%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 5%, zinc oxide 8%, Lipochroman®. Texture: cream. Scent: sunscreen 🤷🏻♀️🤔 Price: $50 for 1.7 oz. Claims: Protects the skin from external factors responsible for more than 85% of skin aging (pollution, light, climate and irritants). Contains Lipochroman® that provides antioxidant protection. Thoughts: I like to use it when I am at home or when I take classes online since it protects from the Blue Light emitted by electronic devices. It doesn't leave a white cast behind and leaves a lovely glow. Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Key ingredients: avobenzone 3%, homosalate 8%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 4%. Texture: silky. Scent: unscented. Price: $34 for 1.7 oz. Claims: A totally invisible, weightless, scentless sunscreen that leaves a velvety finish. They change the formula and now is reef-safe (octinoxate free). Thoughts: Leaves skin soft, without feeling greasy, blur pores and doesn’t leave white cast. I really like the silky feeling it leaves. VOLITION - Prismatic Luminizing Shield SPF 50 Key ingredients: Titanium dioxide 3.5%, zinc oxide 19.6%, octinoxate 7.5%. Texture: liquid. Scent: unscented. Price: $35 for 1 oz. Claims: a lightweight, fluid sunscreen that provides broad spectrum SPF and perfects skin with a flawless soft luminescence. The anti-sunscreen for the sunscreen haters. It’s never greasy, smelly or thick. It’s daily protection you'll actually want to wear. Thoughts: I love that it leaves me subtle glow, it doesn't leave white cast and doesn't feel sticky.
