Lactic Acid 5% plus HA
I needed an exfoliator to put into my routine because i noticed my skin was getting clogged from wearing more makeup than usual. I decided on trying the The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA after seeing that @DermDoctorrecommended it. The first time i put it on it stung a bit but i expected it because my skin isn’t used to it. I put it on after my Curology - Curology formula which i don’t know if that’s the best decision. If I shouldn’t be using them together please let me know. After i put it on i put on my moisturizer. I’ve been using it for a while now and it definitely helped me personally clear up my face. It doesn’t sting at all when I put it on. I totally recommend it!

Top 5 January Favorites
Hey ya’ll in today’s mini post we’re talking about my top 5 favorite products of January 2021! First up is the Curology - The Moisturizer which comes in a set with theCurology - The Cleanser for $10. If you don’t listen to my podcast (search ‘Beauty Talk’ wherever you listen) then you wouldn’t know that I’ve been trying Curology for the last month (review coming on Friday). The moisturizer has glycerin and Hylaronic acid which are super hydrating ingredients. I love the lightweight texture that still keeps me moisturized. Hands down never going back to cream moisturizer after this!! Next is theLA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios Dermo-Kids Lotion SPF50 that costs $20 for 6.76 fl oz. It’s a bit greasy, but it makes my skin soft and glowy while also keeping it healthy. Even during lockdown it’s really important to wear sunscreen every single day. Next up is theOSEA - Sea Vitamin Boost which costs $38 for 3.4 fl oz. I was gifted this product by Cherie after I won Cherie Pick, and it’s the only good mist I’ve found. It’s alcohol and fragrance free, has algae and seaweed extract for hydration, and pomegranate extract for brightening. I know I don’t talk a lot about makeup, but I have two makeup picks. First is theNYX - Butter Gloss which costs $5 for .27 fl oz. My good friend @t_l_t bought it for me, and it’s non sticky, and has an early 2000s shimmer effect. Finally is one of my holigrail products that continues to impress me, theL'ORÉAL - Voluminous Carbon Black Waterproof Mascara which costs $9 for .28 fl oz. This is THE MOST lengthening and clump free mascara I’ve ever used and I loveee ittt. That’s it for this post please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment your favorite product from this month, and follow me to join the family and for similar content. -Mae
Recently my skin hasn’t been great. I’ve been dealing with blackheads, large pores, and a little bit of acne. I have also noticed that for some reason my face has been more red than usual. I keep seeing advertisements for Curology, and their products have really good reviews. I’ve also seen a lot of before and after pictures of people using these products. The results seem to be amazing. Has anyone tried these products, and if so did they work for you? Would you recommend these products to me for my skin issues?
Reaction from curology
While nobody talks about the actual thing here about curology . Let’s me give y’all a enlightement. So my skin okay and I ended up ordering curologyCurology - Curology formula for the trial package you will get a customized formula according to your skin from a dermatologist which is great . You have to pay $4.99 for only shipping and handling. But after that you can chose their treatment plan like I have only their customized bottle for $20/month and $39.99 for 2 months . So I finished my trial package and saw great results and I was curious and happy to order my next bottle. Everything was going fine but suddenly my skin starting to get worst. Instead of clearing up my acne it got worst. So I contacted my provider and told her situation. She asked me bunch of questions about routine and products. After consulting’ with her she told me that I might be getting reaction from curology which is normal . Let me tell you I was not happy to hear about that. Like why my skin is getting worst instead of getting better by using your own prescribed formula. She told me that it’s normal and I need to stop using my curology prescribed bottle ASAP.. and let my skin healed . As my provider said : Ah! In this case, you are probably temporarily reacting to your Curology medication. New onset of burning, stinging or irritation after you had been adjusted to your Curology medication is usually due to other factors that have impaired the barrier function of your skin. Dry or extreme hot or cold air, or other products causing some low-grade irritation can make skin more vulnerable. This may also occur at times when your skin is subjected to heat and moisture or sweat, such as after starting a new exercise routine or using a sauna, or even going on a vacation to a different climate could be a factor. You’ll want to make some or all of these temporary adjustments: - Stop applying your medication for several days. - Then go to M/W/F night application, increasing to nightly when your skin is back to normal. - Discontinue all other active ingredients, including exfoliants ands scrubs. - Cleanse gently using your fingertips; avoid washcloths or devices such s rotating brushes. - If you are going to hot yoga, or spin classes or taking part in any activity that might increase perspiration, I’d suggest that you skip application of your Curology medication the night before. - When you are experiencing any sensitivity, it’s best to wait at least 10-20 minutes after washing your face before applying the medication. When the medication is applied too soon after washing, it really absorbs quickly and can cause irritation. This wait may not be necessary at all after your skin has fully adjusted again. - If needed, dilute the medication by mixing it with some moisturizer in the palm of your hand before applying it. - If the air is dry, running a humidifier can help immensely! Let me know if this helps! Now , I am following her steps to heal my skin .
My Journey with Curology - 1 Year Progress
I started Curology about a year ago. My journey hasn’t been quick or easy, but it has been completely worth it. I’ve seen people who say they got great results from Curology right away. Even overnight! This was not my experience. I broke out horribly when I first got it. My first formula was Azelaic Acid 2%, Niacinimide 4%, Clindamycin 1%. Even though the results were bad I still liked the concept of Curology and decided to stick with it and give it a real chance. What I love about Curology is how easy it is to talk to the doctor assigned to you and let them know what’s going on. After a month I got a formula change, increasing my Azelaic acid to 4%. This really helped my skin and finally I started seeing progress. 6 months later I contacted my doctor again and showed her how much better my skin was doing, but I wanted advice on how to make it even better. At this point she didn’t recommend a formula change but recommended other products for me. I like that they recommend a variety of products, usually at varying price points. She recommended a Vitamin C serum, so I got one and saw even better results. After a year I reached out again and said my skin was doing great but I will still get the occasional breakout on my chin and would like to minimize the appearance of pores. My doctor recommended increasing the Azelaic acid to 8% in my formula and suggested giving Spearmint Tea a try, drinking two cups per day. Even though my skin got worse when I started Curology, overall my skin texture is better than it has ever been and my acne scars are finally fading away. I feel so good and have never felt so comfortable without makeup on. Everyone’s skin will react differently to products. This may not work for everyone. However I do recommend it because you can always get a formula change if it’s not working. The doctors are a great resource and they also have a ton of guides on their website to help you out. I like that they don’t just always recommend their own products. I have never used their cleanser or moisturizer. I pay $25 for a 30 day supply of this. You can pay $40 for a 60 day supply, but I’ve wasted some when doing formula changes so I like just getting one month at a time. I definitely recommend one month at time at first if the formula isn’t working well for you. You can also skip a month or two, which I have done when I started using it every other day. I’m back to using it every night now because it’s not drying my skin out as much. My advice if you are giving Curology a try is to stick it out at first, and be thorough with you doctor at exactly what’s happening and what you’re looking for. Ask me any questions and good luck with your skin journey! Curology - Curology formula
I really enjoyed curology and it helped so much with my hormonal acne. Unfortunately after about 3-4 months it caused me to develop perioral dermatitis around my mouth, under my nose and chin. I have extremely sensitive skin so if it weren’t for that this stuff was wonderful for my acne. Unfortunately I had to discontinue use because of the rash like appearance it created.
Dried out skin from too much acne cream?
Every once in a while ill use too much acne cream and end up with stiff, dry, flaky skin. This happens to me when i apply my DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel too much to my skin. When this happens, I change my skincare routine to “basic”. No acne treatment, no added serums, and no makeup. I do this until my skin is back to normal. POND'S - Facial Moisturizers Dry Skin Cream SAVES MY FACE!! It is a very thick, creamy product and works wonders. Only one application and my face is back to normal. You can find this at walmart, although I recommend getting the travel size because, the normal size is pretty big and a little goes a long way with this product.

my journey ????
(these are old photos except for the last one - my skin is slightly better just a lot of scarring unfortunately. ps: i hope u dont mind the captions! lol!!! 😅🙄🙈) okay hi so as u can see the first 2 pictures my skin was going thru something but not like reaaaaaallllly going thru it, like i think she coulda figured it out on her own if i had just let her (tbh my skin looked better then than it does now :/ but it’s alright) we live & learn [some personal but necessary?? life background/possible factors: school was stressing me out; i was breaking out a little and decided to try a brand new nyx concealer! (i had never used concealer before) and sleep on a brand new “silk” pillow case 🤦♀️; college food issssss just different & gross lol; my grandfather had recently passed away; and then i decided it would be a *great idea* to switch my birth control during all of this 🤦♀️ ...] Ok but i was wondering like... how did it get SO bad like so red and freaking out like that OOOOF ??? bc it seems like i started w these chillin’ closed comodones ???? (first 2) then i went to the dermatologist 🤦♀️ and she put me on tretinoin ???? and then it got worse (4,5,6) and then it spread to the OTHER SIDE LOL and then i was basically like i. am. over. this. after she tried to put me on more stuff like hormonal acne pills and another cream and i was just so defeated and hopeless and then i think i kinda stopped caring lol and thennnnn I went to another dermatologist... near my school she put me on aklief (idk if anyone’s tried that) but my skin is so sensitive :( and it was so irritating like my skin peeled for like weeeeeks 🤮 and it was just miserable and then it kinda calmed down but i was worried it wasnt all natural ... so i gave up on that ish too (she also recommended nNeutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream UMMMM this stuff burnssssssss - it is also BLUE?!?!!! so obviously there is some type of dye in there. but like ooof ouch just thinking ab it i can still feel it burning my skin- but it thought since a dermatologist recommended it then it was fine) and now she’s very sloooooooowly getting better/back to her old self I was just wondering if anyone else also kinda experienced a downhill slope w derms or in generalllll orrrrr has any possible explanations for spreading like that/other comments or advice! — last pic is recent! ❤️ (see my previous post for products I’ve been using 🥰) ****disclaimer: i have nothing against dermatologists! 💗 nor do i mean to come off as anit-dermatologist or as all-knowing or superior. — i just had poor experiences/and negligent results with the two i saw. I personallllllly regret going because i think i would have been better off in the long run if I hadnt gone, and had let my skin figure it out. (and side note: i also never really felt listened to or like my questions were answered - hence all the q marks in this post)

Years in curology
I tried using products myself after being on curology for two years. Curology not only helped treat my acne but helped me learn what different acne is, ways I get it and ways to prevent it. It’s really not just the formula but the personal dermatologist PA that answers your questions. You can contact them anytime and expect an answer within 2 days. This is what makes it worth it va several visits to the dermatologist. I tried treating it myself but returned to curology. I wish I could get credit for referrals as I personally recommend curology all the time.
