đThe Magic Ingredient Your Skin Can't Live Without!đ
luckyzihlal
I have allergy-prone skin especially when the season changes. My nose will dry up and flake very easily, causing itchiness. I'll always use squalane oil, when these issues come up because it's moisturizing and soothing.
You may wonder what squalane is?
Squalene, is naturally produced by the body. More specifically, it's produced by the sebaceous (oil) glands in our skin, which helps to keep the skin moisturized. Unfortunately, for all of us, our natural production of squalene slows significantly after the age of 30. Also, natural squalene isn't very stable, for skin-care purposes, we make it goes through a saturation process to become squalane, which is the version that makes it into our skin-care creams, face serums and oils to make our skin looks hydrated and young.
If you are also interested in the great ingredient, let me introduce you two popular squalane skincare products â Haba Squalane Whitening Oil and The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane
I made a comparison and it may be helpful if you'd like to try one of the:
As for the texture:
Absorption: Haba > The Ordinary.
I think the Haba Squalane Oil is more easily absorbed as your face will feel a bit oily for a while after applying The Ordinary Squalane Oil.
Price:
Haba-$32.00 for 30ml
The Ordinary-$7.90 for 30ml
I have to say, The Ordinary is really affordable.
Effectiveness:
Haba > The Ordinary.
I think both repair my skin well but The Ordinary sometimes causes acne breakouts because I have combination-oily skin.
To sum up, I prefer to choose Haba.
Lastly, I want to talk about how I use squalane oil: After washing my face and spraying some mist, I'll mixCeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion and a drop of the squalane oil together then massage them onto my face. I'll add a facial cream in fall and winter but not in summer. I'll also use it by mixing it with my liquid foundation so that my makeup doesn't separate or become pasty.

Fall-Winter Nights Moisturizing Edit
bliss - Renew & Smooth Night Serum
If you are new to glycolic acids or AHAs this is a great beginnerâs choice. For me I thought this quite a gentle formula... I didnât feel any discomfort or irritation.
The gelly consistency feels really nice on my skin and the formula absorbs quickly into the skin. I have been applying this nightly on cleanse skin and allow the product to completely absorb and dry before applying other serums and oils.

The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane
Iâve been loving this squalane serum on my face and body this month. I have eczema on my face, neck and arms and omg guys... This is so light weight and it absorbs instantaneously! So far Iâm just happy that it soothes the irritations (eczema) and give my skin an extra layer of moisture where I need it most.

COSRX - Low pH BHA Overnight Mask
This is ultra moisturizing.
It has the consistency of Vaseline and ointment cream.. so use sparingly. Half a pea- size is more than enough for the entire face and neck area. Even though it is very moisturizing and goes on quite thickâ give it a few minutes and itâll sink in like a dream.
I use this overnight mask once or twice a week/ when I really feel like my face just need that extra boost and glow in the morning. This is a staple product in my travel bag!
Gorgeous product! I ordered mine from ULTA but you can also order them on Amazon, Soko glam, Cosrx, etc.
This product is also đ°cruelty free.
Please let me know if you have any recommendations for eczema relief below.
Thank you.

FULL Gentle Hydrating Skincare Routine
This has kind of been the theme of my entire Cherie page since its creation, but Iâve been needing to really hydrate my skin more since the weatherâs become colder. Having rosacea means I always need to do extra research on the products I try. So after some experimenting, trying a LOT of new products, and deciding to stick to some old favorites, this is the routine Iâve come up with for myself:
AM Routine
Cleanser - The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm: A recent switch for the winter from Cosrx Good Morning Gel Cleanser. Iâve never used a balm before and I have to say, I really love it. My skin feels super hydrated after use and it does an excellent job of cleansing my face.
Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner: Another recent switch. This toner is so hydrating that I donât need to use hydrating masks or overnight creams as frequently as I used to and itâs super gentle.
Serum - Peach & Lilyâs Glass Skin Refining Serum: This is definitely worth the hype. My skin has been SO smooth since using it.
Spot Treatment - TULA Go Away Acne: Uses benzoyl peroxide to work on acne with other great ingredients like tea tree oil and azelaic acid. This works fine, but I probably wonât repurchase.
Eye Cream - Cetaphil Deep Hydration Refreshing Eye Serum: I said recently that eye cream doesnât work for me, but I also discovered Iâm starting to get wrinkles under my eyes and thought it was important to kick up the hydration and attention. This one is super gentle and affordable.
Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion: Undefeated! If I need some extra hydration Iâll add a couple drops of Leo Oil and mix on my hand using my ring finger.
Sunscreen - EltaMD SPF 46 on days with no makeup or ILIA Serum Skin Tint: Both are mineral sunscreens and unscented with protection in the 40s.
PM Routine
Cleanser - The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm
Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner
Serum - Paulaâs Choice CALM 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant or 10% Azelaic Acid Booster: I like to alternate between these two serums. The BHA (salicylic acid) targets pores and redness. The Azelaic Acid Boost contains salicylic acid too, but is more effective at targeting rosacea specifically.
Eye Cream - Veriphy 20/20 Eye Cream: Received this as a gift and I actually really like it! Contains ingredients like phytoglycogen, peptides, niacinamide, and cucumber extract. But itâs wildly expensive and I wonât be able to repurchase.
Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion + Astrologiens Leo Oil: At night I always combine these two if Iâm not using my Naturium Sleeping Cream (2 pumps + 2 drops).
I have individual reviews on a number of these products, so if youâre interested in learning more about something feel free to check those posts out or just ask a question here :) All of these products are generally rosacea and sensitive skin safe. I have type 1 rosacea (erythematotelangiectatic rosacea) for reference.

Help!
Heyyy so a few months ago my skin exploded in breakouts. I had relatively clear skin before I started taking birth control (Iâm like 79% sure thatâs what caused my breakouts not 100% tho) Anyways I am still getting the occasional few pimples but I am mostly left with a bunch of scars and some texture. I still do get some pimples and zits as well. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I should do to help my skin. Thank you so much!
My current routine is

CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30

Trusted Kiehlâs To Treat My Thirsty, Hyperpigmented skin
Kiehl's - Daily Reviving Concentrate
If I can only pick 1 brand of skincare to use my entire life, it would be Kiehlâs. Iâve been a fan for years now since Iâve laid my hands on that blue bottle of midnight recovery serum. Iâve tried a number of their products and my skin just loves it.
This Daily Reviving Concentrate has the same consistency as the Midnight Recovery Serum- itâs light, just a tad thicker than water. I use this in the morning to treat my thirsty skin after I double cleanse my face, and after applying toner and essence.
I particularly love that itâs hydrating but it doesnât leave my face oily. I can instantly feel its moisturizing properties but itâs not too much so as to leave my face greasy. Itâs a good makeup base as it leaves a bit of a glow to my skin. Sometimes I like putting a teeny weeny drop on the side of my eye - the area where you normally apply highlighter - to highlight the high points of my face. I do that when I donât have a foundation on, which is literally every day now because of the lockdown. I swear by this product.
Kiehl's - Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution
I suffer from hyperpigmentation because I liked suntanning until about 4 years ago. Back then, I didnât know that the sun rays would give me sun spots even if I wear SPF.
Fast forward to today, I have learned my lesson and I try to stay out of the sun as much as I could. I love tanning so I just use self tanning products to fake a glow.
Due to my sun frolicking days, I developed a bit of sun spots on my cheeks. I combat these by using products with vitamin C or niacinamide. I particularly love this dark spot solution from Kiehlâs as it has a mixture of different acids that help in brightening the pigmentation, plus itâs gentle. I have sensitive skin so itâs really easy for me to feel a slight tingling sensation when I use products with acids or vitamin C but this product is so gentle that I didnât feel anything the first time I applied it.
I have seen some improvements on the uneven texture of my face. The pigmentation on my cheeks have since lightened a bit. I also love the smell of this serum. It feels like Iâm in a spa whenever I put it on my face. Definitely a must try if youâre looking for something gentle to treat your hyperpigmentation.

One More Drunk Elephant Cocktail? My Mix & Match
Skin Type: Combination, oily T-zone/ but super dry in winter
Drunk Elephant is the first brand I know that all of their products can be mixed and matched. The concept of cocktail attracts me to try their products. The entire Drunk Elephant skincare line can be mixed and matched as you see fit for a personalized approach to your beauty routine. I tried to cocktail two drunk elephant products. The one is DRUNK ELEPHANT Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, which is drunk elephantâs star products, and the other is DRUNK ELEPHANT B-Hydraâą Intensive Hydration Serum, always sold out in Sephora.
DRUNK ELEPHANT Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil
Size: 30ml
Price: $102
This facial oil is straight from the âpipâ of the marula fruit and is untouched by chemicals and fragrances. Its delicate antioxidant and fatty acid compounds are preserved. All of drunk elephantâs products are cruelty-free. Actually, because of my acne problem, I always doubt about anything that contains oil, not to mention a facial oil. My first time using it and I feel it's really quite oily for my skin, so I only used it at night. However, because of the simple but functional ingredient, I decided to give it a chance. The truth is that if you use it alone, itâs oily indeed. But if you combine it with other products, it will not be that oily and easy to be absorbed. My skin becomes soft immediately after using it. It didnât clog my pores.
DRUNK ELEPHANT B-Hydraâą Intensive Hydration Serum
Size: 30ml
Prize: $68
I combined this hydrating serum with Marula Luxury facial oil. No breakouts, not oily or sticky. I love that this product doesnât have silicone too. It leaves my skin hydrated. I used this mix & match in winter. They calmed my dry patches. But I have one thing to complain about is the price. Drunk elephant is pricy, compared to their plastic packaging and simple ingredients, I donât think the price is appropriate.

This Combo Is Quite Disappointingđđ...
I have combination-oily skin and whitening is my top priority all year round. I chose to follow a combination that is popular on the Internet: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%and Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream for Night.
I have used this combination for around a month and the The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% is already almost empty.
It has a watery consistency but it's a little sticky when spreading it on the skin. It creates a very small amount of white foam but not an extremely gluey texture as some say online. I haven't seen see any obvious whitening, but my acne marks are significantly lighter. However, niacinamide is strong, so it's not recommended for sensitive skin. Those who try it out for the first time will need to build up skin tolerance beforehand.đ§
I personally think there's nothing special about the Neutrogena anti-wrinkle night cream because I have not see any obvious results. đ„±đ„±It has a smooth creamy texture and spreads easily. However, I didn't see any anti-aging, wrinkle-reduction, or whitening results. It is just refreshing and spreads easily. I've used products containing retinol before, so it didn't irritate my skin, but if you haven't built up skin tolerance, you may experience some tingling. However, you can use the AvĂšne Thermal Spring Water to ease any irritation.
Have you used this combo? What is your favorite combo? đ€Let me know!

The Woes Of Dull Skin
Sick and tired of your dull skin and have no time to sleep? Want to party all night long and still look on point the next day? Numerous deadlines to meet and class at 9? Well, no problem!
You can say goodbye to all your dull skin worries because we have the perfect solution for you. However, before we move forward with this review, I want to talk a little about my skin type. I have combination to oily skin, with more emphasis on oily. But, I donât have any other skin condition, except for huge pores and an occasional pimple that pops up with my menstrual cycle.
With that out of the way, I want to introduce you guys to two of my Holy Grail skincare products, which have helped me not only combat my oily skin but also fight dullness during my college days.
Neutrogena Hydro-boost Water Gel.
Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel
I am sure you are super tired of hearing about the power of moisturizing. But, we are going to blow its horn anyway. The first thing that helped my dehydrated and dull skin is the Neutrogena Hydro-boost Water Gel.
The product is usually marketed for combination skin, but trust me, it is the best for oily skin. It is non-greasy and non-comedogenic, therefore, it hits all the right spots. The formula is light and perfect for everyday use or for using under making as well!
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% and Zinc 1%
The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
The second product is by The Ordinary and I am absolutely in love with it. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% and Zinc 1% is one of the best serums to include in your PM routine. It is lightweight and retails for only $6 to $10.
Letâs talk about the ingredients. The niacinamide is a magic product for controlling sebum production on your skin and fighting off the wrinkles. It is a brilliant anti-aging product and fights dullness by keeping the oil at bay.
Niacinamide helps retain moisture and fights the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion. All in all, it is a wholesome product, which is a must-have for all you oily girls out there.
Letâs talk about how to incorporate the two products in your routine. Ideally, it is best to use the serum on a clean and dry face. However, if you are new to such products, then you should mix in two drops of the serum in your moisturizer and then put it on your face. It is all about building tolerance slowly and steadily.
They have been a part of my routine for a little over two years and that is why I swear by them both!

Iâd Rather Get A Coal Than These Hyped Products
Skin type: combination, oily T-zone in summer/ dry in winter
LANCĂME Tonique Confort Re-Hydrating Comforting Toner with Acacia Honey
Price: $54 for 400ml
LANCĂME - Tonique Confort Comforting Rehydrating Toner
Main ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Phenoxyethanol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil
This toner can be said one the worst toners Iâve ever used. I bought it because it was sooo popular on the Internet. And compare to other products from LANCĂME, this toner is affordable. I thought it would be fantastic as what others said about it. But it really disappointed me. It says that it is a silky, soothing, and moisturizing toner that gently purifies and rehydrates dry and sensitive skin. Nonsense at all. Itâs all lies. The first time I used it, I can smell a strong artificial scent. If you are sensitive to fragrance, itâs a nightmare. Besides that, itâs no difference to water, nothing special. It didnât hydrate my skin at all, not to mention soothing and purifying. Will I recommend it to my friends? Absolutely no!
CLARINS Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate
Price: $89 for 30ml
CLARINS - Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate
Main ingredients: Turmeric, Oat Sugars, Orthosiphon Extract, Callicarpa Extract: Revives radiance.
It is another trendy serum on the Internet. According to these ingredients, it should be anti-aging, visibly firm and lift, helps improve the skin texture and revives radiance. But it did nothing. Itâs an oil type serum with an application that can control the amount of usage which is the only advantage. Even itâs oil type. I was hoping that it can be absorbed easily. By contrast, it can not be absorbed. I fell my face was soaked into the oil. Besides that, it leads to breakouts. It clogged my pores, which made my pores unable to breathe. I didnât use much of it, one to two drops every time. I just cannot like it. Go to rubbish! Itâs expensive! I can find many other useful serums which are much cheaper. I would not recommend it to anyone. Itâs totally overhyped.
CLARINS-Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate
pair hyaluronic acid and moisturizer
đ Pair these products to get hydrated skin!
đ the products used here
The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
and
Charlotte Tilbury - Charlotte's Magic Cream
đ Why should you pair up?
Hyaluronic acid allows your skin to hold more water/moisture in, it basically acids as a carrier for water which provides hydration. Moisturizer layered over that locks in the hydration from a hyaluronic serum while usually adding more moisture through things like glycerin or other ingredients. Do use both! Do find a serum AND. moisturizer with hyaluronic acid. Dont just use a serum, as it can evaporate without a protective layer.
đ The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid
this is a thick serum that should be applied to the face after toner and before moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid is a key ingredient in retaining moisture in skin, as it can hold a lot of water. A little can go a long way with this serum in particular. its pretty inexpensive, and yields immediate results through happier, more hydrated skin!
đ Charlottle Tilbury Magic Cream
This is a thick, rich moisturizer that is excellent for winter use and dry and sensitive skin. It locks in moisture and hydration throughout the day and keeps skin moist without a greasy feeling. I really like this moisturizer, but its a tad pricey.
