Ingredient spotlight: the silk canvas
I’ll admit it: I used to think primers were unnecessary, or that you only needed one if you were “serious” about makeup and did a full beat face every day. Fortunately, I recently saw the error of my ways and learned that I had been missing out BIG TIME. No wonder my makeup always creased by the end of the day 🙃 I received this primer as part of a Cherie-sponsored giveaway (yay!) and I was super excited to try it, as I had never tried anything from Tatcha. My first impressions: this looks, feels, and smells luxurious. It’s described as a velvety priming balm that melts into skin and protects it from makeup: basically, it keeps makeup out of your pores. It smooths on so well and it really does feel like it’s melting into my skin. Tatcha says you only need an amount the size of a rice grain, and while I think I use slightly more than that, you really don’t need much. With the amount you get, I think the price tag of $52 is very fair. I think I could use this every day for... six months? More? I typically don’t wear makeup on weekends, so it’ll probably last me even longer than that. As the name indicates, this product contains silk: both silk powder and hydrolyzed silk. Tatcha says that the silks diminish the look of pores and fine lines, and it also helps makeup glide on smoother and last longer, giving a soft focus finish. I personally love the idea of silk in skincare and makeup—just thinking about it makes my skin feel smoother. I do think this product delivers on its claims. I’ve used other primers, and this one delivers as well as MILK’s hydrogrip primer (my favorite). While I like the cooling feeling of MILK’s primer, the silkiness of this one is very addicting as well. I think it comes down to which texture you prefer (gel or balm), because they both work well. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality primer. I think this would work well for all skin types. I’m oily and it helps keep my shine under control, but everyone could use a little help getting their makeup to last longer. I know the price tag can seem a bit steep, but seriously, you need the tiniest amount. Have you tried The Silk Canvas? What did you think?

Minis: Would I purchase full size?
fresh - Rose Face Mask 🌹|| This face mask is infused with real rose petals and claims to soothe and tone the skin. I bought the mini at Sephora just to try it out before committing to the full size and I have to say, I ADORE THIS MASK 😍 If you love rose scented products you will LOVE this! It has a smooth gel like consistency and just like it claims there are rose petals in the mask. I was having a few crazy breakout from using another new product and I wish I took a before and after because the next day I had no redness and a new breakout I was getting was cleared!!! The mini size was $25 for 1 oz and the full size is $62 for 3.3 oz. Its a little pricey but I def recommend this if you’re struggling with redness or irritation it’s a life saver and worth the money ❤️ TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream 🌸|| This moisturizer contains antioxidant rich Japanese purple rice which claims to give a healthy dewy glow. It’s a rich cream targeted for people with dryer skin. It’s a pretty pastel purple color and has a nice herb like scent which I didn’t mind at all. My skin is more on the dryer side so I decided to try this out because who doesn’t love glowy skin??? Unfortunately I found this cream to be a little too heavy for my skin. It does leave your skin dewy however it looked border line greasy/oily. I noticed in the days after my skin was producing a shit ton of oil (it never does that) and I actually started breaking out from this cream. So disappointed that this didn’t work for me because I love Tatcha!!! Maybe this could work for people with extremely extremely dry skin but if you’re normal/dry this might be too much. TATCHA - The Silk Canvas Protective Primer 💜|| This is primer that’s meant to help uneven texture, fill in pores, and help make up stay on longer. It def feels like silk when you touch it but unlike other pore filling primers it stays in place and doesn’t slip and slide around. My skin looks so smooth and perfect when I use this and I do notice that my make up lasts a little longer than with other primers. The packaging is beautiful and luxurious, exactly what I expect from Tatcha. The mini size is $20 for .24 oz and the full size is $52 for .7 oz. Pricey for sure but a little goes a long way and my mini lasted me monthsssss. Definitely worth it!!!

Best primer for Oily Skin! Tatcha Silk Canvas!
The best primer I have ever tried! This is the Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer. I was convinced by Rach from pifudiaries (you can find her page on IG and here on Cherie) to try this. I also watched the Sephoria video on YT where the founder of the company, Vicky Tsai talked about the primer. In that video, she talked about how the primer is main goal is to protect the skin and to create a barrier between the skin and makeup. This is a velvety priming balm that is made with thin layers of silk, anti-pollution natural actives, and Hadasei-3 which is an anti-aging complex. Once blended into the face, it really creates a thin barrier and leaves the face feeling smooth and ready for makeup. It also allows the makeup to apply more evenly and longer lasting. The formula is designed to help prevent clogged pores and breakouts as well as protect the skin from environmental stressors and eventually support the skin’s barrier. It also is supposed to diminish the look of pores, fine lines, and help control the sebum production. I do notice that I am less oily during the day when I do have this primer on before makeup which is a huge reason why I will be repurchasing this (in full size) once I run out. An oily girl’s savior! 5/5!! A++++++!!! TATCHA - The Silk Canvas Protective Primer

THE BEST PRIMER EVER!!
This primer is sooo good, I find myself being picky about when I use it, for special events, it’s worth it’s cost, but pricey, so I try and make it last longer. It’s great for controlling oil, with or without makeup on. It’s oil-free and smooths out pores, wrinkles, and reduces redness. It has a silky, creamy, airy texture, that even makes me feel comfortable just putting on my face and leaving the makeup off! I’ve recommended this product to multiple friends, who have all started using it.HOURGLASS - Veil Mineral Primer

CoverFX blurring primer
COVER FX - Blurring Primer 30ml This primer claims to decrease the appearance of pores and fine lines. It has a very thick, dry consistency and is a shade darker than my fair to light skin. You can see in the last photo the line of demarcation of the primer, so it’s not translucent and if you’re as fair as me you won’t be able to wear this by itself without foundation. I think this primer does a great job at filling in my pores and making sure I don’t get really oily throughout the day! I wish the product was a bit lighter or at least translucent, so I wouldn’t have to deal with it being a little dark but I always use it with foundation anyway. Side note, a little goes a very long way! I don’t think I’ll ever have to repurchase! I would recommend this to someone who deals with large pores and struggles with being oily. This primer can be a little dry and would probably be too much for someone who already has dry skin.

Matte primer for acne-prone skin
About the product: BECCA - Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector is an primer that aims to control oil for up to 12 hours while also minimizing pores. It also is supposed to help with uneven skin tone. It can be used “alone, before or after” foundation and used throughout the day to touch up. My thoughts: I have never used this product alone or on top of makeup, but I do like how it controls my oil. I do not use this over my whole face because that would make my skin overproduce oil. Best for: Oily and combination skin. Recommend? Yeah. Specs • 1.35 fl. oz./40 mL (full size) for $39 • 0.40 oz./11 g (mini) for $21 🚨 The above sizes are available at the listed prices unless indicted below. 🔎 Where to find it? 🔍 🔘 Becca 🔘 Sephora 🔘 Ulta ⚪️ Amazon: available at different prices that seem to be more costly than above; do your research before you buy. 🔘 Nordstrom only has the mini size 🔘 J.C. Which POREfessional Primer is for me?
It can sometimes be hard to find a great primer for your makeup bag. Benefit has two fantastic POREfessional primers available but how do you decide which one is best for you? The original is a cult-favourite and no doubt one of the best in the market which is why they released pearl primer, a slightly edited version tailored to target dull and dryness with a little more of a pink tone. So which one is for you? benefit - The POREfessional Face Primer Skin types? Typically oily skin types with excess shine Texture: Silky, lightweight balm Finish: Matte The POREFessional Face primer is matte in texture. It has a strong nude tint, a clear finish and doesn’t have to be used underneath makeup; it can be used alone, or on top of your base to keep skin smooth and shine-free. benefit - The POREfessional Pearl Primer Skin types? Typically oily skin types with dullness and dryness Texture: Silky lightweight balm Finish: Lit-from-underneath glow Creamy, glowy and soft to the touch, this skin perfecting primer will smooth away dry patches and blur away dullness. This primer instantly minimises the look of pores, secures makeup and helps skin look bright, rejuvenated and awake. It's the same oil-free, silky smooth texture as the original 'The POREfessional' pore primer plus a hint of soft pearly pink undertone. After purchasing both products, honestly I didn’t see much difference in the end product - they both do what it says on the tin and they ensure your makeup stays put all day. The pearl primer seems to be a little smoother during the application therefore I would opt for this one when repurchasing.

Pores? We Don’t Know Her
I’ve been using this magical face primer for two years ever since I saw Jeffree Star rave about it on his channel - I’ve been hooked since! I have a large makeup collection & I am constantly adding and trying new products, so the fact that I continue to keep using this primer and always have to keep a backup on hand says A LOT! The name “No Poreblem” is so incredibly fitting as this primer certainly lives up to all of its claims - this lightweight, silky smooth primer fills in all of your pores, lines, and uneven texture, giving you a true even canvas to work with when applying makeup. I’ve been known to even wear just this primer and no foundation at all over it just to even out my skin on days where I’m on a crunch for time! There are a lot of silicone, silky based primers on the market, and having oily combination skin, I usually stray away from them but this primer doesn’t make my skin look oily or greasy. Every foundation I’ve worn on top of this primer always wears beautifully on top. This primer retails for $18 but Touch in Sol hosts a lot of sales on their website so you could get this for a lot less! Either way, totally worth every penny!
