Like most people, I love any beauty routine that is both quick and luxurious to carry out so began the day with a scrub with herbivorebotanicals Coco Rose Lip Polish. With fine, smooth grains of sugar in an emollient shea butter and coconut oil base, this scrub is gentle on lips rather than tugging or tearing like some harsher scrubs. I don’t have to use too much of this to get a good exfoliation going since the moisture in the base makes the sugar granules spread well. After using small circular motions to scrub, I need just a tiny amount of water to dissolve the sugar. The results are definitely flake-free, softer lips. Since the shea butter, rose and coconut oils are not water soluble, the polish also leaves behind a thin layer of hydrating which makes a good base for my lip colour application. Plus points: A gentle sugar scrub, without any large or harsh grains. Soothing Turkish delight-type taste and smell which lends a luxury feel to the experience. Minuses: Quite a solid scrub which means it lasts longer than others but can be slightly difficult to work with. Try using a small beauty spatula to remove the desired amount of product without getting nails involved and risking germs entering the polish.

I am forever on the lookout for the perfect coral/peach and chanel may well have supplied it in the form of their Rouge Allure Liquid Powder in 950 Plaisir. As vibrant as the tube may look, on the lip it’s a subtle blur of apricot, in a formula that I can easily build up for greater impact. Beyond the colour, one of my favourite things about this is its matte finish. this tint does indeed offer a true powder finish, making it perfect for my preferred dewy skin/matte lip combination. Because the colour is a subtle wash- compared to the bolder matte finish for example of Mac’s Powder Kiss line- it leaves a soft lip outline, which I find helps create more of a no-makeup look. On the lip, the Liquid Powder leaves me with a slight silicone feel but certainly isn’t drying. I have noticed varying results with its lasting power, though, and find there some days it can last a whole morning and others when I need to reapply within an hour. A makeup setting spray or lip primer may help with this.
Like bright, glowing skin? I thought I’d stave off the midweek slump by beginning the day with one of my all-time favourite products, the ren skincare Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial. Containing Ascorbic acid (one of the most potent forms of Vitamin C), this slightly gritty paste is designed to be massaged onto skin before adding water to activate it. As soon as it is active, I can feel the acid slightly tingling my skin for the next minute until I wash it off. The product never fails to deliver a glow and I find it also helps to counteract a certain amount of sallowness brought about by tiredness or winter weather. As a result, I generally use this the most if my skin is in need a bit of a pick-me-up after a bug or particularly long week. Alongside retinols and gentle AHAs, Vitamin C is one of my absolute favourite ingredients as it always delivers on radiance at the same time as noticeably getting to work on firmness and hyperpigmentation. In fact, for those with a sensitivity to AHAs who still want to fade sun or acne-caused pigmentation, Vitamin C makes a great alternative. Because it is a powerful antioxidant, the ingredient also helps to combat some amount of UV and free radical (think pollution) damage, making it perfect for city or sunny place dwellers. Although Vitamin C is notoriously unstable when exposed to light and air, REN’s product comes in an opaque tube to protect it from UV, while the water activation process also to helps to preserve it. Plus points: Bright, glowing skin every time. Minuses: As with many Vitamin C products, the smell and texture are pretty icky and the formula is prone to splitting. I always make sure to shake well before use and store out of the sun. I also try not to think too hard about the smell (like gone-off orange juice). What's your favourite skincare ingredient?

Favourite eye cream Undereye dryness is one of my biggest bugbears (thanks genetics!), so my quest for the most hydrating, non-irritating eye cream is up there with my search for the perfect poppy red nail varnish (do let me know if you find one). Among my absolute favourites though is kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. Light but (as the name would suggest) very creamy, is absorbs quickly, hydrates all day, and doesn’t irritate or cause me any around-the-eye breakouts. I also find I don’t need to use a huge amount of this precisely because it is so hydrating, which is good because eye creams are notoriously expensive per ml. If you're looking for a good base for makeup, this does a pretty great job. If you really want to push the boat out pre-eye makeup application though, another absolute favourite is the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream. Again, a little goes a long way.

Serious about glowy skin? kypris beauty Glow Philtre mask This jelly-style mask has a texture which is so much fun to work with, as well as a beautiful, delicate citrus/floral fragrance which smells just like orange blossom (that would be the Neroli). Firstly, yes, this is very expensive, but I find I really only ever need to use a tiny amount (slightly bigger than pea-sized) because the jelly texture makes it spread extremely well. The first time I used this, I applied an almond-sized amount and ended up having to use it on my chest and arms too (not such a bad thing). This mask is also very fast-drying. This is great if you don’t like overly-damp products on your face but bad if you don’t like the slick-backed-eyebrows look so I suggest avoiding that area. While on, pomegranate enzymes gently exfoliate, while Silver Ear Mushroom extract hydrates. Glow Philtre also contains Sea Kelp, a personal favourite for softening and hydrating. I initially wasn’t sure if I was going to like this beyond the beautiful packaging and fragrance, purely because the price tag is so hefty. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised, however. It genuinely does leave behind a lit-from-within radiance which rivals any peel or Vitamin C product I’ve tried, and would make a great pre-event treatment. Plus points: It really does offer a genuinely radiant glow. Smells divine. Minuses: This is a very expensive product, but actually for me this is one of the expensive ones that might actually deliver. Because you only need a small amount I reckon you could get a minimum of 20 uses out of the pot, making each use a comparable price to a decent sheet mask.
it’s time for a review of the summerfridays R+R mask. In fact ‘mask’ isn’t quite the right word because this little beauty is actually a two-in-one; an exfoliant and treatment. With the addition of rose flower powder, R+R is designed to be gently massaged over freshly-cleansed skin (most definitely avoiding the eye area), before leaving for 10 minutes. Bulgarian Rose Oil then gets to work hydrating and providing a dreamy fragrance, while powerful antioxidants in the safflower oil, avocado oil, sesame oil, and grape seed oil (all of which contain high levels of Vitamin E) help to undo and ward off free radical damage. Meanwhile, a water-soluble form of Vitamin C, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, does its thing providing a gentle chemical exfoliation to complement the manual exfoliation provided by the rose flower powder. The result for me is a lovely glow and skin that is thoroughly hydrated. Perhaps more importantly though, R+R really delivers as a multi-sensory product through its texture, fragrance and appearance. Bulgarian Rose Oil is an aromatherapy oil often used for relaxation and this product genuinely is very soothing to use- great for moments when TLC is in short supply or you’re feeling in need of a little self-care. Plus points: Exquisite fragrance, lovely results, genuinely relaxing to use Minuses: Aside from the price I can’t really think of any. A little goes a long way, however, and I don’t find I need a thick layer as Summer Fridays suggests
