When you’re not quite curly enough...
I’ve tried the curly girl method, getting a curly hair approved hair cut, using the “correct” products for my hair and all of that got me mixed results. The curly girl method itself just backfired on me horribly and I spent a good amount of time trying to get the texture I knew and loved back. Enter IGK - Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm I used to use this product when I was a Sephora shopaholic a few years ago. I quit using it due to price and wanting to try something more tailored to my hair. What I learned is, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” My current routine is this: TRADER JOE'S - Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo with Peppermint GARNIER - Fructis Sleek & Shine Conditioner (I’ll be trying a new conditioner soon and posting about that) plopping my hair for 15 min with a 100% cotton shirt then applying the IGK - Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm air dry afterwards! I’m hoping to continue to work on my hair but I’m happy to see the curls I know and love back again after this product. (Now if it were only a little cheaper....)
My Hair Transformation 2016 -> Now!
2016 to Now!!! My hair and I have had a long journey together, from constantly straightening and detangling to now having pretty soft and long hair to a length I never thought I’d get too! As you can tell, 2016 Fiorenza was STRUGGLING to say the least! I actually have naturally thick course & curly hair, so 2016 me was in the phase most black girls like myself were at some point in their life, of constantly straightening (frying) my hair because I didn’t like my curls! Luckily the damage younger me did wasn’t permanent and over the years I’ve acquired so many great tips to keep my hair growing and pretty healthy, as well as the confidence to wear my hair curly or straight and still feel cute!! Swipe to see what tips have helped me to keep my hair healthy, growing & protected from straightening it! What are some tips and tricks you use to take care of your hair? I’m always looking for new ideas! (:
hair parts + face shape
this is a subject I’ve tried to learn a lot about. I really notice a huge difference in my appearance depending on which way I part my hair. a middle part is said to give the illusion of length and symmetry. so, if you have a rounder face, you’ll probably like how it looks. a side part can help accentuate cheek bones and is said to be “universally flattering”. I have done both, and recently have been sticking more with a middle part. I suggest asking your hair dresser what they recommend. they often see us in an unbiased light and can tell you what looks best! my stylist said I could do either, because my face isn’t as long as I thought in my mind (lol). I think there’s exceptions to every rule, but switching up your hair part can be a fun and easy way to revamp your look! what do you think? do you prefer a side or middle part for me?amika: - The Shield Anti-Humidity Spray aussie - 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner TRESemmé - Moisture Rich Shampoo With Vitamin E
These products are magical!✨ My favorites now!
TRESemmé - Micro Mist Extend Hold Level 4 Hair Spray TRESemmé - Moisture Rich Shampoo With Vitamin E TRESemmé - Moisture Rich Conditioner With Vitamin E My hair was so dry and messy that it would make my back sweat and brushing my hair became a problem lol. But this shampoo and conditioner just made my hair turn into a blessing! It smells great and my hair is less oiler then before that taking a shower once a week is enough! It has given lots of moisture to my hair and brushing my hair was just a quick and easy task to do. I don't have the exact spray because it came with the package of the shampoo and conditioner but it's a level 4 strong firm control hair spray not the micro misted one (just to let you guys know before any of you get confused😅). Anyways, my hair became soft and silky to the touch. I recommend it to those who would want this type of hair or just wants some hydration and moisture to their hair and scalps.
Conditioner and Leave In Conditioner for Fine Hair
Like many people who have fine hair, I have had a difficult time whenever it comes to the time of combing my hair every morning. However good care I have taken of my hair with conditioners, it does not seem enough for it. Using relevant conditioners does of course help improve the smoothness and shine of my hair and it's something very important that I will keep carrying on. My thin hair, however, still gets kinking in the morning even after shampoo. After some experiments, I found out a good leave-in conditioner helps before blowing. A few things I like about leave in conditioner is that, although its effect is temporary, it is enough to help me through the process of blowing and combing my hair and maintain the smoothness through the most part of the day. I use it as a supplementary part to the routine care, because it apparently does not work alone without adequate day-to-day care with good conditioners to maintain healthy. I have been using a set of botanical shampoo and conditioner by Super Mild – a sub-brand by SHISEIDO – for a few months, and it worked out very well for me. Thin hairs like mine can be very easily damaged, so it is important to use gentle products and yet give it the nutrition it needs to restore it from the daily damage. This conditioner does not very extremely rich texture – it is a little thin and watery, but this allows the conditioner to spread over every and each piece of hair easily without further watering it down. It is fully water based so as it is easy to be rinsed out. Meanwhile, there are many options of leave-in conditioner or spray that you can choose from. This one I use is Botanical Therapy leave-in conditioner from Garnier It has slightly richer texture and can still be easily spread through my hair after shampoo and makes my hair smooth throughout the day until I shampoo it again.
Rescue your hair in 3 minutes!😍
Last year, my hair has been dyed and curled several times, causing serious damage to my hair. So I bought and tried a lot of conditioners to repair my hair. However, many of them are not effective. I think aussie - 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Hair Conditioneris the most effective. I have been using it for more than half a year and the quality of my hair has been significantly improved. This conditioner has amazing scent because it contains a unique formula, that is, Australian balm mint. It smells like botanical fragrance and makes people feel safe. After using it, my hair also have similar and nice scent, which makes me feel relaxed. This conditioner has a thick texture but is easy to apply on the hair. I like its packaging a lot. Its packaging is very convenient to use. There is a small hole in the bottom of the bottle to let conditioner out. The conditioner won’t flow out on its own unless there is pressure on the bottle. I wash my hair every one or two days. Every time after I wash my hair with shampoo, I will apply the conditioner to the surface of the hair and the ends of the hair. Then I will wait for three minutes. Sometime I will listen to music while waiting. It is a very special and relaxed time period of the whole day. After that, I will rinse off the conditioner. After using it for one week, my hair quality was significantly improved. My hair becomes supple and shiny. After using it for a month, I found my hair quality was much more stable. Even though I use curling irons for curling every day, my hair quality is still very good. I have bought a lot and stores them at home. I have also recommended this product to many of my friends.

Wash-out vs. leave-in conditioner, and my choice is...
My hair is fine, flat and easy to get greasy and fuzzy. My hair is always medium in length, which makes it easier for me to manage my hair and create a hairstyle suitable for my fine hair. At the same time, I always focus on hair care. As I concerned, hair conditioner and leave-in conditioner are great treatment for hair care. I use one of them almost every time I wash my hair. Conditioner and leave-in conditioner strengthen my hair roots, smoothe fun and refresh every hair strands. My favorite hair conditioner isPANTENE - 3 Minute Miracle Daily Moisture Renewal Daily Conditioner. Just as its name, this conditioner can create a miracle change in your hair for only 3 minutes. This product helps reduce my hair dryness and repair my hair. It leaves my hair soft and the smell is amazing! It is for daily use. Simply leave on hair for 3 minutes, then rinse and feel the difference. The secret of creating a miracle is its powerful Pro-V formulas. It helps make weak hair healthy and strong against damage. This conditioner is cheap, $4.97, and you can get it from most market. OUAI - OUAI Leave-In Conditioner My favorite leave-in conditioner is from Ouai. This one is more expensive than Pantene, and costs $26 for 140ml. It is a leave in hair mist, infused with amino acid blend, tamarind seed extract, vitamin E and hydrolyzed proteins, to reduce frizz and flyaways for perfectly smooth, silky hair. With these active ingredients, this product functions to attract and retain moisture in your hair, and prepares your hair for styling the next day. I usually apply this before I go to bed. Spray it on the middle to the end of hair. Then gently comb all hair. Wait for a while for all conditioner sinking in. The next you will find your hair smooth and ready for styling. This product’s texture is as light as lotion. It is easy to be absorbed. If you are used to doing all hair care while washing your hair, then you can choose Pantene 3 Minute Miracle hair conditioner. This product is cheap and will amaze you by its effect. If you want to give your hair a long-term deep repairing treatment, you can choose the Ouai leave-in conditioner. By using this, your hair have the whole night to thoroughly absorb all nutrition given by conditioner. What kind of conditioner do you prefer?

A wonderful duo for my hair!
Just like skin types, we have different hair conditions as well and that’s exactly the reason why sometimes I feel hard to relate to others with very thick or very dense hair. It is totally fine because we are just here to share beautiful and useful tips and experience, right? I am really excited about this combination of a shampoo and hair oil I just found that works for me and worth trying. My hair is quite thick but I had a few times of massive hair loss so it is now in medium density. It sometimes is really oily near the root but bit dry and dull from the middle to tips. I usually wash my hair every two days and it is basically just the shampoo, conditioner, and a mask if I have the mood for it. I bought this The Bodyshop Ginger Shampoo from their store for its hair strengthening effect but it did not work for me. However, it is a great shampoo that can remove all the oil from my hair and roots, and amazingly adds some volume to my hair. It has a non-fragrant herbal smell and a medium to thick lather, quite a shampoo for daily use with a totally affordable price. Hair oil is always a friend to people like me. Hair oil has so many uses and benefits, and the one I am using is from Schwarzkopf. I really like its rose scent, super gorgeous and warm. Not oily at all, this hair oil gives such a lightweight nourish to my hair after the shower. Usually, I apply it on the towel-dried hair first, then blow-dry, and apply again before bed so that I can fall asleep easily with its beautiful smell and the feeling of my silky hair. For those with hair in medium-density, please give it a go and try them out and I bet you won't regret it!

Common mistakes I made when straightening hair...😥
Hair Type: Dry, thin and soft hair, occasionally dye, middle amount of hair Mistake 1: For dyed hair, sometimes I forget to use conditioner before blowing or straightening hair! For dyed hair, damage to hair is very common and inevitable, especially when the endings of your hair became dry, which is more difficult to straighten. For damaged hair, be sure to use a hair mask or conditioner when you wash your hair as protection. So when do your hair straightening, the effect will be better and last longer. My recent favorite conditioner is theaussie - 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner , this product contains avocado & Austrian jojoba oil, after using this conditioner, I can really feel my hair is getting smooth and healthy, especially when I do curl or straightening, the effect is more obvious! Really recommend to dry hair. Mistake 2: Sometimes I forget to use protection oil before curing or straightening hair! Over-heating curling or straightening iron can really damage hair badly when, so don't forget to use essential hair oil to protect your hair before doing curling or straightening. How to use: First, comb the hair smoothly, pour the essential oil on your hand, and evenly apply it on the end of the hair. Remember to follow the direction of the hair, do not rub, otherwise it will hurt the hair. I have been using the L'ORÉAL - Elvive Extraordinary Oil for All Hair Typesrecently. It works well and smells good. I really recommend it to damaged hair! If you have any questions or suggestions hmu!

Two hair products that saved my laziness!
When weekends come, I usually just stay at home and don’t want to leave my house at all after a busy week, not to mention spending half an hour or longer in the bathroom to take total care of my hair. The reason why I don’t say sorry to my hair (I should actually) is that there are some great remedies we can take to re-nourish our hair when we have time and mood to caress it. I recently found two products that help me to address some basic hair problems in a fast, easy way even when I don’t want to get out of my quilt. I have straight hair which is really thick, and it doesn’t get tangled at all unless I dye my hair frequently. This oil elixir from Schwarzkopf is what I found really helpful on untangling hair and smoothing the hair texture. I bought this hair oil and immediately fell in love when its rose scent and it smells so much like rose and the texture is quite silky and balmy, not like some other hair oil I have used. When I had my hair dyed, it just became super dry, and there are some split ends as well. I tried this and it helped me get rid out of issues including dullness and dryness. My hair becomes so much easier to comb. I like to use it not just after the bath, but every time when I feel like some extra suppleness and glow on my hair. It is worthy to try this lightweight and sweet-smelling hair oil when you need some hair care but doesn’t want to wash your hair and do a hair mask. Another holy grail is the dry shampoo. I believe most people have tried this because it is so famous and has a great reputation. My first encounter with this product was not a good story, to be honest; the one I used didn’t work well on me. Unlike the previous one which didn’t solve my problem, this new Batiste dry shampoo I am using can really help me to get rid of over-oiliness while providing hydration. It is so easy to use and convenient to carry it in my bag since it is in a small size. It is also lightweight and has a light, refreshing scent that I don’t hate. After a few seconds, it becomes completely invisible and no white stain left on hair at all. I like to use to when I realize I need to wash my oily hair but really tired to do so. Thanks to this product for saving lots of my time. Batiste - Batiste Dry Shampoo
