Flat iron Do’s & Dont’s

"No heat protection " This is a common mistake that most people make when blow drying their hair.  You can choose to apply a serum or a cream heat protector before drying on your damp hair or use an aerosol spray that you can spray on each section before you heat it with a flat iron or curl it. KÉRASTASE - Nutritive Nectar Thermique Conditioner
This is my favorite heat protector cream this year. Kerastase has the best hair products for repair 👍 Since blow dryers have heat, and damp hair is more fragile than dry hair. If your hair is really fragile or breaking, it's the heat that brings the damage. Using heat protection will keep your hair in the best condition possible given the fact that you are using heat tools. This is also when most damage comes from. “Do not go up & down multiple times” When heating the hair with flat iron, try not go up and down. Correct way is to slowly moving from the scalp to the root. It makes all the follicles point the same direction. This also create the sleek finish and add extra shine if you do it correctly. Dos Comb your hair One thing you should notice is that the iron seals whatever goes into the hair. By this, it means that, if there are a lot of crinkles in a section of your hair and you go straight to straightening. What you did is to seal the whole section including all the crinkles into the hair. It is always recommended to avoid using a comb first. Section your hair I like to iron with small sections about 1 inch wide. Sectioning shift to diagonal section, keep portions nice and small, working on diagonal, easy to get the texture we want. give a light mist, once it gets dry, we can go ahead and apply the heat. One thing to notice here is that when we work on the diagonal, after the hair falls, it still has a little bit movement to it. So it doesnt get flat. What we did is that we keep the iron on the diagonal and this would leave with a much nicer result.

caring for straight(ish) hair
caring for straight(ish) hair
Today I want to talk about how I’ve learned to care for my hair, which isn’t stick straight but usually isn’t *super* wavy either. It can also get pretty oily in the summer; I have oily skin on my face, and the two typically go together. First, I tend to wash my hair every day. I know some people are very against this, but it’s what works for me! Since my hair is pretty straight and thin, it tends to get weighed down with product and I hate the feeling of sleeping on it. So I wash it every night. When my hair is wet, I comb out any tangles with a wide-toothed comb. I’ve found this results in way less breakage than if I comb or brush my hair when it’s dry. I use a wooden comb that was a gift, so I’m unsure of what brand it is, but there are lots of great wide-toothed combs out there. I rarely blow dry my hair. I used to blow dry it every day in high school so it would be stick straight, but thankfully that’s not the look anymore 🙃 It’s straight enough without subjecting it to unnecessary heat every day, and heat also makes hair brittle and more prone to breakage unless you use proper heat protectant products. If I do blow dry my hair, I use amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray to protect from heat and add extra volume and shine. I’ve reviewed this before, but just to recap: I love it! A little goes a long way to add just the right amount of volume to my hair. I’ll be honest: I haven’t been styling my hair much at all since I’ve been working from home since March 😬 Most days it’s just a scrunchie ponytail for me. I’ll occasionally add some Batiste - Batiste Dry Shampoo or SACHAJUAN - Dark Volume Powder to add some volume to my roots—both of these are great for making my roots look lifted, and I’m recommend them to anyone with straight hair in need of a little volume and texture.

How to Survive Second Day Hair
How to Survive Second Day Hair
Second day hair can sometimes feel and look the worst – but it doesn’t need to be if you manage it properly. It’s difficult making sure your hair washing days line up with your gym schedule or days you actually might have to look presentable. All you need is a good trusty dry shampoo and some hair styling tips to get away with it (I won’t tell if you don’t!).Make sure to brush out your hair! It sounds obvious but sometimes I skip this step in the mornings (and I bet some of you reading do too!). One of my favourite brushes is this wide toothed wooden comb I bought from Amazon. It’s super gentle on the hair and can detangle any knots perfectly without any tugging. I switched to a wooden comb because I noticed my hair was getting extremely static a few months ago from the previous brush I had been using which had plastic bristles. I haven’t looked back since! A good dry shampoo goes a long way. One of my favourites is this cherry dry shampoo by Batiste. It’s super easy to work into the hair, great for building volume and leaves the hair smelling fruity and fresh. It great for absorbing any grease and gives my hair that boost that it needs, leaving it feeling clean all day. Curl your hair – I’m not sure about you but I’ve realised that curls work best on second day hair (and look the best too). They just hold so much better and for longer (even without hair spray). It’s great for adding some volume back into your hair that you might have lost after sleeping on it throughout the night. Make sure to use a heat protective spray before curling with a wider barrel for looser curls. Follow up with a volumising hair spray to hold your curls in and give it an extra lift.

They Saved My Coarse Hair! 👍👏
They Saved My Coarse Hair! 👍👏
Coarse hair seems to be a common problem among many people, yet, having smooth and luscious hair is desired by most. Nowadays, there are many products on the market that can help us treat coarse hair, and I’ll be introducing a hair essence and heat protectant that will achieve just that! My Hair Type: I have to admit that I brought this problem to myself. My hair used to be smooth and healthy, however, I was into dying my hair in various bright colors that involved many times of bleaching, which ultimately damaged my hair, almost beyond repair. For a while, my hair was coarse on the part that has been bleached and endless split ends followed. My hair became extremely weak and prone to breakage. On top of those problems, I have oily hair roots but dry ends. Product 1: Heat Protectant - Tresemme RP7 Pre-Styling Spray $3.59 / 300 ml This is such an affordable product that should be a staple item in everyone’s hair care collection. One cause for coarse hair could be too much heat on the hair. When we blow dry too closely to our hair or at a temperature that’s too high, or style our hair with a straightener or curler, our hair could be damaged and dry, thus, becoming coarse. This is where heat Protectant is important. I love the packaging because it is a spray-on product, which makes application very easy, you simply spray onto dry or wet hair before blow-drying or styling. The scent is very mild and makes the hair smell nice. The texture also feels lightweight and coats the hair nicely. I noticed that my hair became smooth and shiny right after application, and over months of usage, my hair felt stronger, and there are less split ends and less tangles. One thing I would note is to avoid applying onto the scalp because it can make the hair oily and flat. Product 2: Hair Essence - Pantene Ultimate 10 BB Creme for Hair $4.95 / 135 ml We’ve all heard of bb cream for the face, which is a product that is supposed to benefit the skin in multiple ways. In this case, this product is a bb cream for hair. It is a multi-tasking leave on treatment. It truly lives up to its name, because it really moisturized, detangled and defrizzed my hair. It can be applied onto dry or wet hair, at day or night. For me, I like to apply this before bedtime. I would dispense two pumps into my hair and apply it evenly on my hair, except for the scalp. I would notice a huge difference the next day, where my hair feels extremely smooth and silky, and all of the coarseness would be gone. The packaging is nice and convenient, the price is very affordable, and most of all, I love the scent. It smells like perfume for the hair. I absolutely adore this product and would highly recommend this to my friends and family. I have emptied at least three bottles of this, so I encourage you to give this a try too!

Straight Hair Problems..
Straight Hair Problems..
Having straight hair can be a blessing sometimes, but more often than not, it is NEVER like magazine hair or TV commercial hair. If you have straight hair, you probably relate when I say that it maintains volume for a couple of days, but then it flattens down and there just doesn’t seem to be any life in it. Especially for hair like mine. Not only is it straight, but it is also really fine and thin. This means that my hair just falls flat off my head like a boring waterfall. I used to wash my hair very frequently to keep the volume in it, but my scalp started getting irritated because I was using shampoo too often. So, I decided to look for different alternatives. I tried using volumizing hair sprays and gels, and even went as far as to tease my hair every day! Needless to say, it was a big hassle, and that part of my daily routine didn’t last very long. I finally figured out something that worked wonderfully for me. My cousin bought me a REVLON - Smooth Stay Medium Round Porcupine Brush on Amazon as a gift to see if I was willing to try that out. Honestly, I was skeptical about it but believe it or not, it was perfect for my hair. It looks like a regular detangling paddle brush, but one that blow dries your hair while you use it. I love to use this product with my head bent forward and down so that my hair falls onto my face. I find that when I blow dry my hair this way, it becomes more voluminous and it tends to stay longer that way! I apply some sea salt spray into my hair while doing this, which gives my fine hair more texture and also helps keep it bouncy and looking full. I personally love the L'ANGE - Salt + Séa Texturizing Spray which I bought for $20! The two products work really well together and really well for my hair too!

🙅🏻‍♀️Common Straightening Mistakes
🙅🏻‍♀️Common Straightening Mistakes
Flat iron hair has been a routine for most girls. As a user for 5 + years, I want to share some of my experiences. There are some common mistakes I noticed many girls make including myself when straightening the hair. Hopefully you make none of these. I'm just gonna go and share my experiences and a few things I saw many girls did. Mistake # 1 Straighten wet hair This is the number 1 mistake in straightening. Straightening wet hair has to be damaging. It is not safe and can damage the hair dramatically. Wet hair applies heat directly to your hair  and can quickly heat to scorching temperatures. By straightening wet hair, the wet hair will actually maximize the heat to dangerous levels. water would turn into vapor under high temperature and boil and even breaking your hair. So be sure to always blow-dry your hair prior to straightening. Mistake #2 Crancking up the heat Another common mistake many girls make is not using heat setting on the flat iron. I was that girl that used the highest heat setting on my hair and just went over multiple times over the same hair strands. It is not practical girl. I thought I was saving myself time and making things efficient. However, I didn’t noticed that my hair were burnt and would smell. There is no specific temperature setting. It mostly based on your hair type and the iron itself. I have thin hair but i have a lot. Normally I never go above 200℃ or 350℉. Again that also depends on the iron, if I can I would normally go lower. Mistake #3 Straightening all at once.  A good practice here is to separate hair into sections - skinny up sections Reasons are simple - smaller sections make it faster. I notice many beginners including myself making section way too big, the heat from the plates of the flat iron is not even gonna get into the middle of the hair because the section is too wide. Sectioning is essentialif you are fighting with frizz or curls, you have to section your hair to get the best result. If you have thick hair or need to fight with curls, dividing your hair into more sections. I know it sounds like time consuming and too much extra work. Trust me, you are better off taking the time to do a really good thorough. You dont want to get a halfway job by saving a few minutes.

Lazy to clean your hair every day? This is for you!😍
Lazy to clean your hair every day? This is for you!😍
Lazy to clean your hair everyday? This is for you! My hair is a little bit oily but the end of hair is kind of dry, and I believe that most of people have the same problem with me. Honestly, I’m not a diligent girl, and I heard that we can’t wash hair everyday if we have long hair, cause it will take away the protected cover of our hair, and makes the hair dryer at the hair tip. In this case, my hair will not seem that fresh and airy the second day after washing hair. What do we do if we have to meet someone at once? This time, you need something quick and efficiency. I heard of dry shampoo many years ago, and have tried a lot of products, but my favorite is KLORANE - Dry Shampoo with Nettle Oil Control. This is a French hair care brand, and they also have many great shampoo and hair care products. How this product works? This hair dry shampoo also contains powder that likes other dry shampoo, and it use this dry powder to absorb the oil from the scalp. The spray is smooth and even, and it is not white powder but pink, so that the powder is not very obvious on the hair. How to use it? The method of using it is very easy. The only thing you have to do is press the top, and rub the powder in hair until it totally spreads evenly. I forget to say that there is a tip. When you spray the powder, remember to cover your face or nose and mouth, because I always think that this tiny powder will be inhaled in our body. Just in case. Is this product works well? After applying this powder on hair, my hair looks loose and fresh. It likes that I just finish a shower, and have used a really good treatment. This dry shampoo will not make the hair look dry, but with glowing effect. I feel that my hair looks smoother than it looks before. This is a not very popular brand, but I highly recommend this product if you are a lazy girl like me. You will be surprised!
