Dry skin vs Dehydrated skin ✨ Dry skin is a skin type. Typically it does not change, though it can come and go with seasonal changes, ie you can experience more dry skin in winter, and more normal-normal/dry skin in summer. Moisturizers can really help make your skin less dry, but it may not be a longterm effect, so if you stop using that moisturizer, for example, your just gonna go back to dry skin. If your skin is getting unusually drier than it normally is, odds are you need a better moisturizer, something with more occlusive ingredients in them, to hold moisture in the skin better and prevent trans-epidermal water loss and some emollients to heal dry, chapped or irritated skin. Occlusive ingredients include plant waxes, shea butter, cocoa butter, some fatty acids, cetyl alcohol. Emollients include plant oils, ceramide, squalane, Vitamin E, fatty acids. These two moisturizers by @jouviance and @vivierskin are good examples of moisturizers with both types of ingredients. @jouviance Hydractiv moisturizer with the Vitamin E and caprylic triglycerides (emollients) and lecithin (occlusive) and @vivierskin Lexxel moisturizer with the squalane, grain wax and vitamin E (emollients) and shea butter (occlusive). Is your moisturizer doing the most for you? Stay tuned for comparison to dehydrated skin VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum

PORE WARRIOR : first impressions
PACIfICA - Pore Warrior Oil Fighter Booster Serum i hesitantly give this a rating of 4 stars for multiple reasons. i had the pleasure of using this serum for about a week before i unfortunately accidentally spilled it on my floor. from what i understand, products strong in niacinamide can often take up to three months to take full effect so my short experience with this serum is in no way indicative of the results of someone who had used this product for much longer. THAT ALL BEING SAID... this was my experience with this product! the texture is very slippery and similar to the PACIfICA - Water Bounce Moisture Shot Booster Serumthat i have also used. i would maybe also compare it to the VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serumbut less gel-like. the scent is light and kale-like, but far lighter in fragrance than any other pacifica serum i have used. it felt very nice and seeped into the skin well and adding a moisturizer or wearing makeup on top did not cause any issues. i did not experience any irritation using it. i wish i could have continued to use it and see if there were any long-term benefits :( hope you guys enjoyed! feel free to follow here and on my IG @chloebrk.mua

Hi lovelies 💕 Here is what I’ve been using for the past few months and I just want to say - a very simple routine goes a long way. Cleanser: your skin should feel clean after you wash your face, but it shouldn’t feel ‘squeaky’. I think there are no need to use cleanser with active ingredients and acids as they strip your skin of your natural oils & pretty much leave your skin irritated. Gentle cleanser works best for me. I normally cleanse 1 time in the morning, and 2 times at night. Serum: I always apply serums while my skin is still wet. I don’t dry my face with a towel all the way, better yet, let your skin dry on its own and apply your serums while the skin it a bit wet. I warm up my serum in my hands for 2 seconds before I apply it to my face. This specific serum from Vichy is great, and it is safe to use on your eyes so I apply it everywhere. Moisturizer: something I did not know when I was younger - no matter what your skin type is, moisturize. Find a moisturizer that works for you and apply it every.single.day. I had a bit of an oily skin growing up and thought a moisturizer would make it more oily and would clog pores, so I skipped that step completely. After trying a bunch of creams/moisturizers/lotions, I am now using the most simple one you can find in any store, and it does it’s job perfectly for me and does not clog my precious pores. I highly recommend a simple moisturizer during the day, no active ingredients needed. SPF: simply a must. Don’t skip it. I wear SPF even when I’m at home as the sun could still get it. Another mistake that I made when I was younger is not wearing SPF which made my PIH worse. I use this ultra light SPF which is non-comedogenic and creates a very good base for makeup. This combo of lotion + SPF is my favourite as they feel light on the skin and they don’t ‘roll’ on the surface. PM: this is where these active ingredients come in handy. Choosing your night treatment is very important as this is when you can address what concerns you the most and the treatment will soak right into your skin and will sit there overnight while you sleep 😴 making your $ count as PM treatments get pricey and you want to get the most of using them. My concerns are PIH and dark spots, niacinimide works very well for me. This very simple PM lotion from Cerave is very effective if you struggle from PIH, I highly recommend it 👍🏼 Don’t forget to drop your suggestions for me in the comments ❤️
SAME INGREDIENT | Hyaluronic Acid
DR ROEBUCK'S - No Worries Hydrating Face Moisturizer EIGHT SAINTS - Pep Rally Gel Radiance Serum Two products with the same ingredient! These both have hyaluronic acid even though they are very different products. Hyaluronic acid is a popular ingredient because it draws moisture from the air to hydrate the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. I love this ingredient because it’s moistuizing while still gentle for my oily skin. The Dr. Roebucks No Worries moisturizer is a great basic moisturizer. The texture is amazing and provides a moisture barrier without making my skin too oily. It has no synthetic fragrance and minimal ingredients. In addition to hyaluronic acid, it also has macadamia oil which is another moisturizing ingredient. I can really feel the hyaluronic acid working in this product because of the bouncy texture to my skin after I use it. The only drawback to this product is that it has essential oils which can be sensitizing. Eight Saints Pep Rally serum is a hyaluronic acid and vitamin C gel serum. It has a bouncy, liquid gel texture and goes smoothly onto the skin. I can also feel the hyaluronic acid working in this toner because my skin feels so hydrated after use. I don’t really enjoy the scent of this product at all! This also has vitamic C but I didn’t see much improvement with this ingredient being added. In my opinion, the Dr Roebucks moisturizer is a better method of application for hyaluronic acid. Has anyone else tried these? ✨

Cica (aka Centella Asiatica) has been a longtime favorite ingredient of mine as it is calming & soothing, and helps to strengthen & repair the skin’s barrier. I’ve been using the meebak cica serum and cream for a few weeks now and have been loving them! They claim to help restore skin to a youthful, radiant complexion. I have definitely noticed my skin has been brighter since using them! The products also claim to have anti-aging benefits which I will have to use longer to see those results, but I have high hopes! My skin definitely feels nourished after using these and they have had no issues layering with other products or with any SPF which is always a feat in itself! The serum sinks into the skin so nicely and one pump can cover my whole face and neck so I think it will last me a while! The cream has the most amazing texture, almost like the tatcha water cream, and it leaves my skin smooth, nourished, and firmer. They both have a fresh, clean, almost floral or fruity scent that I surprisingly really enjoy! The fragrance is listed about halfway through the long list of ingredients, but isn’t close enough to the beginning that I think it would bother anyone sensitive to it. Something to keep in mind though! Both products also have niacinamide high up in the ingredient list which is another win for me!

Another great Vitamin C serum. It truly works wonders. Love that it works very quickly and it improves my skin’s clarity.
VICHY-LiftActiv Vitamin C Brightening Skin Corrector
VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum While I don’t have a lot of skin concerns, dryness has always been something I’ve struggled with. My face is dry, dull, and sometimes sensitive. However, Mineral 89 has been my tried and true product. Ever since i got a sample of this 1.5 years ago, I have had almost no issues with dry skin. I can’t say enough great things since I’ve started incorporating this into my skin care routine. How I use it (works best for me): Apply after toner morning and night Press into skin gently and let soak in (takes about 2 minutes) then continue with rest of routine.

A great moisturizer for sensitive skin?
Good Molecules Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer I was recently gifted the Good Molecules Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer by @goodmolecules. It came at the perfect time as I had just finished my day moisturizer. This is an initial first impression review. What it does: From the website write-up: “Smooth, hydrate, and prep your skin for makeup with Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer from Good Molecules. Formulated with macadamia seed oil, shea butter, and a naturally derived silicone alternative, this lightweight daily moisturizer works to strengthen, condition, and protect skin from environmental stress—all while creating a smooth, plumped-up canvas for flawless makeup application.” Benefits (also from the website): •Plant-based, naturally derived alternative to silicone helps smooth skin texture and plump up fine lines with a lightweight, breathable feel •Macadamia seed oil nourishes and promotes skin cell regeneration while shea butter helps soothe and heal skin with antioxidant vitamin E •Essential fatty acids from olive oil help protect and strengthen the skin’s barrier function while delivering moisture deep within the skin How to use: A pea-sized amount for the whole face. Wait for a bit before sunscreen or make-up. My honest opinion: I was really excited to try a silicone-free moisturizer. I know a lot of skincare products have silicone and I’m not adverse to it in my products as I understand why its there. But at the same time, I personally do prefer my skincare to be as clean and natural as possible. Hence my gravitation to more natural brands. This moisturizer was a joy to use. It goes on smooth and does not leave any stickiness or tackiness. It delivered on everything it said it would - it was light, and smooth and moisturizing. I also really liked that it didn’t cause any pilling that some of my other moisturizers caused. I felt my make-up sat better with this moisturizer. The best part so far has been the feeling of my skin feeling comfortable throughout the day. I like that it is fragrance-free which is great for sensitive skin and that it came in a pump bottle, which makes it so much easier and hygienic to use! Yaaaassss!! Would I recommend it? So far so good! So yes! Definitely with 2 thumbs up. It’s a really decent day moisturizer. I really like products that help make my skincare routine in the morning easier. So I love this. :) The other awesome thing? It’s only $14!GOOD MOLECULES - Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer

The Ultimate Duo
I love meebak - Cica Face Cream Moisturizer and meebak - Cica Face Serum because both are a balance of everything that we usually want in skincare products! The retinol in these products helps with firming, the niacinamide helps with brightening, the hyaluronic acid helps with hydration and of course we can't forget the Cica which is a great source of amino acids, antioxidant's, hydration, moisture, dryness, redness and the list goes on !! It's super brightening, gives me a full day glow without being greasy and tacky. The texture is not whipped, it's more a combo of water cream and light weight moisturizer !

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
