Sunscreen
Sunscreen
Yes I’m talking about sunscreen. Did you know that protecting your skin against UVA/UVB rays is the best way to keep your skin looking young. It helps protect against sun damage- and sun damage is the culprit to wrinkles and sun-spots (duh) so do the needy and protect your skin 😉 .VIVIER - Sheer Broad Spectrum SPF 45

My favorite hydrating ingredie
My favorite hydrating ingredient- Hyaluronic Acid ✨ First of all why is it called an acid if its meant to be a hydrating molecule? Its just a matter of chemistry- theres so many hydrogen atoms in HA that when it dissolves in water, the hydogren dissociates and the resulting solution has an excess of H+ atoms, making the solution more acidic 🧪 This amazing molecule holds 1000x its weight in water, helping your skin absorb and retain moisture thereby keeping your skin nice and #hydrated. It also helps repair the skin barrier from any damage- ie. Trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). TEWL is when there isn’t enough moisture in your skin, that the moisture is drawn from the dermis to the epidermis and evaporates off the skin surface. This further dehydrates your skin, as well as disrupts your skin barrier function. You need products that hold moisture, and lock it in like hyaluronic acid and a good moisturizer to protect your skin further. And finally, it can even help with plumping the skin, also benefiting as an anti-aging ingredient ✨ I love have my HA in a serum because I believe it is delivered better with a thinner texture, but you can definitely find it in moisturizing creams as well, and even in most masks! .

Dehydrated skin, unlike dry ak
Dehydrated skin, unlike dry akin, is a condition that is acquired through different factors- mostly lifestyle as well as skincare routine. Things like sun damage, lack of sleep, not drinking enough water, smoking, will result in dehydrated skin. Dehydrated skin makes your skin feel tight- like when you just get out of the shower and it feels weird to make face expressions- and can give the appearance of vertical lines down the face, an indication off too much water loss. Too much water lost (trans epidermal water loss) from the skin can negatively affect the skins moisture barrier and bound to set your skin into a cascade of problematic issues. Fortunately, dehydration can be treated, and even reversed, with the right lifestyle changes and the right products in your routine. Ingredients to look for: Humectants and Occlusives. We discussed occlusives last week. Humectants are ingredients that retain moisture and basically hold water in your skin and draw moisture in. These include hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate, amino acids, sorbitol, panthenol and urea. VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum with Hyaluronic Acid

Dry skin vs Dehydrated skin ✨ Dry skin is a skin type. Typically it does not change, though it can come and go with seasonal changes, ie you can experience more dry skin in winter, and more normal-normal/dry skin in summer. Moisturizers can really help make your skin less dry, but it may not be a longterm effect, so if you stop using that moisturizer, for example, your just gonna go back to dry skin. If your skin is getting unusually drier than it normally is, odds are you need a better moisturizer, something with more occlusive ingredients in them, to hold moisture in the skin better and prevent trans-epidermal water loss and some emollients to heal dry, chapped or irritated skin. Occlusive ingredients include plant waxes, shea butter, cocoa butter, some fatty acids, cetyl alcohol. Emollients include plant oils, ceramide, squalane, Vitamin E, fatty acids. These two moisturizers by @jouviance and @vivierskin are good examples of moisturizers with both types of ingredients. @jouviance Hydractiv moisturizer with the Vitamin E and caprylic triglycerides (emollients) and lecithin (occlusive) and @vivierskin Lexxel moisturizer with the squalane, grain wax and vitamin E (emollients) and shea butter (occlusive). Is your moisturizer doing the most for you? Stay tuned for comparison to dehydrated skin VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum with Hyaluronic Acid VIVIER - LEXXEL Moisturizing cream JOUVIANCE - Hydracitv Gel-Creme

PIXI GLOW TONIC SERUM.. EMPTY 😭
PIXI GLOW TONIC SERUM.. EMPTY 😭
I’ll like to start this off by saying how incredibly sad I am to have an empty Pixi glow tonic serum just sitting on my dresser. I don’t want to get rid of it and I’m preparing myself for a new one. 🥺😫 Ok everyone this serum is amazing, I received this as a gift from Pixi and ever since then it has been in my routine. I have really dry skin to the point where it gets flaky and when I apply this it not only glows up my skin (obviously cause it’s called the glow serum) 😂 BUT it also hydrates! 🧡 The serum is sticky when you apply it, but adding other serums or moisturizers gets rid of that and honestly it doesn’t bother me🤷🏻‍♀️ I LOVE this product so much and what it does for my skin, waking up in the morning I know when I’ve applied this serum the night before and when I haven’t because it just does something to my skin and overall complexation. ITS REALLY THAT SPECIAL 👌🏼👌🏼 It’s a thicker consistency so applying this at the end of your line of serums (going from thinner consistency to thick) it’s the perfect cherry on top) 😋🍒 I love this product so much and what it does for my skin, but I also love how affordable it is compared to my other serums I own. You can get this from Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada with the price point of around $30.00 CAD, which I think is amazing compared to what I spend at Sephora on skin care. You guys need to get it you won’t be sorry in all honestly. 🤍✨ pixi - Glow Tonic Serum
