Winter Routine for DRY Skin
My cheeks have been SO dry lately. It’s been a struggle to keep my sensitive combo skin hydrated with the change in weather. I’ve thus made a couple swaps from my summer routine to keep my skin moisturized and not flakey. 🌬I swapped my trusty jojoba oil in the morning for a light application of Dr. Jart+ - Ceramidin Cream

Slugging with Aquaphor Healing Ointment!
Aquaphor - Aquaphor Healing Ointment Ok guys, I’ve heard about this a lot and my skin is so darn dry that no moisturizer lasts overnight. My skin ends up extremely dry and flaky and red the next morning and nothing is helping me heal or improve my skin. Everything I’ve tried kind of just helps short term and is good in the moment, bust still wears over time, so I’m going to try slugging! What is slugging? I wasn’t sure, so I googled what it really was and Byrdie said, “Slugging is a K-Beauty skincare trend which includes coating your face in petrolatum or Vaseline. This prevents transepidermal water loss and keeps moisture in your skin.“ This sounds like it would be worth a try, I am a side and tummy sleeper so I’m hoping that it doesn’t get all over my pillow. I’m only putting the Aquaphor on my chin area because that’s the only area where I feel I need it. I’ll keep updating as I keep doing it, but I’m really hoping this saves my skin! *morning of day 1: it worked! I just woke up and looked in the mirror and I didn’t see any flakiness!!!! I’m gonna keep trying it for a few days to see if I can really get that patch permanently fixed, I’m so excited! I’ve had that darn thing for years in the winter. *morning of day 3: WOW MY SKIN IS SMOOOOOOOTH AND SO NOT DRY! The only annoying thing is trying not to get it on my pillow since I’m a side/tummy sleeper but this is really working for me! And this is great because I meant to purchase hand cream, got this instead, and had no idea what to do with it until I heard about slugging.
Eczema flair ups
So after being home for what seems like forever, i’ve suddenly had a flair up of my eczema. It started off on my eyelids for a few months, then with quarantine, it started spreading in my left cheeks, my forehead was extremely dry and cracked, then all over my face. I used to not be sensitive with my acne skincare products, but the more my eczema got worst, the more sensitive my skin would get. Even a splash of water would irritate my skin. I stopped doing my regular skin care routine for a while, it was not doing me good with a compromised skin barrier (which is what eczema is). So this is what has been working for me, after trial and error, these two products together helped clear up my patches, and decrease my redness. Still a little flakey, but not as flakey as it was initially. I start off by cleansing my skin with CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser it’s the only gentle cleanser i have. It still irritates my skin a little sadly, but i try to cleanse less, so usually PM only. And I would rinse my face with just water in the AM. Don’t feel the need that i should spend on another cleanser, since it’s hopefully just temporary until my skin barrier gets stronger. - then i would slather CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream all over my face on damped skin, avoiding my eye area. Its so thick and perfect for my extremely dry skin. Its so soothing and the ingredients are the best. It’s very hydrating, but just not thick enough for my eczema prone skin. Which is why i follow up with a thin layer of Aquaphor - Aquaphor Healing Ointment prior to doing this, i would wake up with flakey dry skin in the morning, as if all the hydration has disappeared during my sleep. But this ointment helps lock in the cream and keeps my skin hydrated until the morning. Its great for everything tbh. I would also put this on my eyelids since i have redness there as well. (Side note: i’ve been using this for my cracked lips for years, it’s the absolute best for drugstore lip balm). But if you have those bad days where your lips gets extremely dry to the point that you don’t know what to do anymore and your regular lip balm that you’ve used for a lifetime does not work, i would recommend #La Roche-Posay - Cicaplast levres[products]#[FiveStars] you wake up the next day as if nothing has happened, you get completely healed lips. I swear by it!!! It’s very thick, with a mat finish, it’s nothing like other lip balms ive used before. It also contains great ingredients such as panthenol which is great for repairing. The less is better for eczema prone skin, and i hope these two holy grail products of mine works for you too. You really need patience, and so far i am loving the results. My patches has gone away and my redness is slowly calming down. I thought i would need a whole new routine but i will stick to this for now.

Heyyy!! I’ve been on the DL for a while now. Been insanely busy with the kiddos, I have a 5 month and 2 year old. Skin looking great even tho I haven’t been feeling all that great myself. I have tagged all the products I’ve been using strictly for the past 3 weeks. I saw this happening on Insta and thought it would be fun to participate on Cherie! All month I’ll be posting my top 2020 skincare essentials in accordance to the schedule on the 2nd pic, so follow me if you want to see all my faves of this year! Up next- MOISTURIZER! 💛Dr. Jart+ - Ceramidin Cream I talk about this cream a lot, but that’s because it’s played a huge role in repairing my barrier and reducing my irritable skin’s sensitivity. It’s thick, has ceramides and shea butter, and is packed with herbal antioxidants that lend to the wonderfully calming scent. While this is a great cream for normal to dry skin, I am also acne-prone and it does not clog up my T zone or make me oily. This winter, I have been using it day and night! The only issue is that with the cooler weather, it has not totally stopped my cheeks from getting dry overnight, so I’ve been layering a bit of Aquaphor over those areas for extra occlusion. It’s also not cheap, but I’m willing to pay for a well-rounded moisturizer since I rarely use serums.

Please help me, any advice will help
Hi everyone, so recently I have been getting acne all over my forehead and now more around my cheeks. My skin type is Normal-Dry Skin Also I know that my skin isn’t as bad as other people, however- I am only comparing my skin with myself. No one else. I don’t know what to do to help make it better. I have a hard time maintaining my skin to keep it clear because one day could look nice then in 2 days I break out. > I always try to drink 1500ml of water everyday > However I do struggle a bit with eating. Some mornings I will skip breakfast and sometimes even lunch. If I eat something it could also be something sugary. I always want to eat and everything however, I just don’t have time to prepare and when there’s no food at home I just skip eating. - I will for sure work on that but just eating 3 meals a day, will it change my skin? And what foods are best to eat? Skin Care Routine: CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion Avène - CLEANANCE SUNSCREEN SPF 50+ (Sunscreen for the mornings) I don’t have a solid routine and I am working on it. I just don’t want to use so much on my face. What else is best to add to my routine? How do I also take care of active acne? I know I shouldn’t pop them but sometimes they’re just so big and I feel like that’s what everyone just see when they talk to me/look at me.

Hey y’all! Jumping on the trend, here is my day/night skincare routine MINUS treatments, because I simply could not fit them in!!! Morning: Cleanser Toner 3 serums 2 “eye” creams (I use Purito for my smile & forehead lines, inkey for my inner corner eye because it is super dry due to allergies) Water cream moisturizer Sunscreen Lip balm/salve Evening/Night: Cleansing balm Salicylic acid cleanser Toner 2 serums 2 “eye” creams Moisturizer Vaseline stick balm (dry eyes again) Lip balm/salve Treatments I use: THE inkey LIST - Succinic Acid Acne Treatment I use this as an acne spot treatment when I feel like I need it The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA I use this once a week as my chemical exfoliant THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum I use this once a week, currently working it Into my routine (on my second week) & over my moisturizer How am I doing? Any recommendations? Let me know below! PS- I like a huge routine because it makes me feel bougie. I know many of these are not necessary, but I like to use them regardless 😄
I have been trying to figure out the best way to take control of my skincare routine. My main concern is the texture of my skin, redness, blackheads on my nose, & large pores on my cheeks. I believe I have combination skin. It can’t often get oily or dry. I’d like any advice having to do with Cerave or The Ordinary. I currently am cleansing my face each morning & night with CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser I like this cleanser, but am wondering if I should try out some other Cerave facial cleansers for my skin. In the morning I use CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 In the evening I moisturize with CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion Occasionally, I use the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution but I don’t think I have used it consistently enough & often enough to tell a difference. I’ve read that this is good for blackheads on your nose & to use it two nights a week. I have also used The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque but haven’t used it enough to notice a difference. I’d like to look into trying a few more products to help rejuvenate my skin & give my skin care routine a “facelift” 😉 Any advice or opinions would be wonderful. Thank you! Products I’d like to try include: CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum I would like to introduce a retinol into my routine. CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream I often get dry under eyes, eye lids, & puffiness. The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA I read this was good for textured skin & blackheads. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Thank you in advance! ✨
Top 2020 Skincare: Multitasker
I saw this happening on Insta and thought it would be fun to participate on Cherie! All month I’ll be posting my top 2020 skincare essentials in accordance to the schedule on the 2nd pic, so follow me if you want to see all my faves of this year! Up next- Multitasking Products! 🖤MAELOVE - Night Renewer Maelove really created a whole night routine in a jar! This 10% glycolic acid cream resurfaces skin overnight, while fully moisturizing it at the same time. In fact, I’ve seen better and faster results with this cream than with high % aha/bha peels. Formulated with aloe, squalane, and shea butter, my sensitive skin stays calm while being exfoliated. I do mix this with 3 drops of jojoba oil as it’s fairly lightweight for a night cream and my skin is dry. I also just like mixing oil into my moisturizers. That being said, I think this cream could work for all skin types. I use 2-3 nights a week after double cleansing.
Woman-Owned Small Businesses
I made a post a while back on conscious consuming and on how I’ve recently been more intentional in the businesses I support. That post had a more eco-conscious angle, but I want this post to focus on some fabulous companies founded and independently owned by women. See below for the deets on the woman-owned skin and hair care brands I currently have in my stash (* represent companies founded and owned by women of color): 🌻 Maelove* - founded and run by Jackie Kim. She utilizes AI and a team of MIT researchers to create her affordable but effective skincare line. I’m loving their MAELOVE - Night Renewer and can’t wait to get my hands on their MAELOVE - The Hydrator B5 Gel for both hydration and antioxidant protection. 🌻 Ethique - founded and run by Brianne West. This New Zealand-based bar company covers all your hygiene and cleansing needs with absolutely no waste and is a certified B Corp. I’m currently using the ethique - Eco-Friendly Heali Kiwi Shampoo Bar For Touchy Scalps bar and it’s eliminated all my flakes and itchiness! 🌻 Bounce Curl* - founded and run by Merian Missmo. She formulates every product herself and uses Middle Eastern Nigella Sativa oil as her secret ingredient. I recently bit the bullet and bought her famous Bounce Curl - Light Hold Creme Gel and will be writing a review on it soon. 🌻 Kinship - founded and run by Alison Haljun and Christin Powell. These two bring experience from Juice Beauty and Benefit to this accessible and eco-conscious skincare line. I’ve only used their KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 , but it is a key product in my morning routine. It soothes my irritable skin and gives it a gorgeous glow, while protecting it with a non-nano Zinc UV filter. 🌻 Rizos Curls* - founded and run by Julissa Prado. So I haven’t tried any of their hair products as they look a little heavy for my hair type, but I really wanted to support a Latina brand so bought this bomb Jefa pin and their comb 😍 🌻 MamaP* - founded and run by Suzan Hernandez. Picked up this bamboo toothbrush at a CO-OP in Maine. 2% of proceeds from the different brush styles go to a different organization, from Save the Bees to LGBTQ+ advocacy groups. My green and black brush raised funds for mental health support. 🌻 Radius - although Radius was founded by men, it’s now owned and operated by the co-founder’s daughter, Saskia Foley. Radius makes ADA-Approved and BPA-free dental products that are all low to zero waste. Best thing is their RADIUS - Usda Organic Floss is available at my local Wegmans for the same price as mainstream competitors! On my wishlist: My Topicals* - founded and run by Olamide and Claudia. Their mission is to remove the stigma associated with chronic skin conditions like eczema and they donate a portion of profits to mental health organizations. Can’t wait to try TOPICALS - Like Butter Hydrating Mask

I saw this happening on Insta and thought it would be fun to participate on Cherie! This month I’ll be posting my top 2020 skincare essentials in accordance to the schedule on the 2nd pic, so follow me if you want to see all my faves of this year! Up first- FIRST CLEANSERS! 🍬KOSE COSMEPORT - SOFTYMO Speedy Cleansing Oil I didn’t start double cleansing until this year, so technically it’s the only oil cleanser I’ve used, but I do really enjoy it! This was one of the very few that ticked all my boxes (fragrance-free, accesible, cheap) and it certainly gets the job done while rinsing off easily. Next I want to try out the - Softymo Deep Cleansing Oilsince I found it at a local Japanese grocery store :)
Just a golden hour skin update 😍
COVID & quarantine have taught me a lot- most importantly being how essential it is to be consistent in order to see skincare results. Before the stay at home orders I had no consistent routine and just grabbed whatever & incorporated all kinds of stuff I didn’t need or my skin didn’t like. I’ve learned to keep it simple & stick to & switch between only a few things!! Okay yall, I got this at TJ Maxx for $16! Don’t worry, I checked the expiration date and all that good stuff. So, here is my honest review: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Mineral SPF 45 I know biossance released a new SPF in place of this one that gets much better reviews. This, however, was not a bad find for $16. Slight white cast but not too bad and it was really hydrating! It’s definitely something I will keep with me in my gym bag for when I’m out and about but it won’t be my go to since I also just got the KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 and it’s my favorite spf ever.
Stimulate the Economy! Buy Skincare!
My newest finds and unfortunately last for a while :( I’m on leave from work right now so I only have one more paycheck coming in so these will be my last new grabs for a while! KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 -First time using a mineral sunscreen and I am in love! No white cast at all, leaves my face looking so glowy but not oily. Smell is kinda weird but that’s usually what happens when the product is fragrance free so 🤷🏼♀️ peach slices - Snail Rescue All-in-One Oil Free Moisturizer -You KNOW I had to get this after trying the snail mask! I have combo/oily leaning skin and this moisturizer is so nice and thin. I occlude it with squalane in the mornings TULA SKINCARE - Go Away Acne Spot Treatment -Okay so I was looking for the kinship spot treatment and couldn’t find it so I got this instead. I have not used it yet but it’s formulated with niacinamide, licorice, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, and lactic acid. WHEW that is a pretty stacked inkey IMO so I’m excited! I had coupons and points so I only got paid like $47 for all of this but I just got my stimulus check (yay!) so here’s to stimulating the economy! Hope you all get your stimmys and the chance to try some new products :-)

First day of school!! My last semester 🎉🎉
I never thought I would be comfortable going to class without makeup, but I’m so glad I don’t feel the need to wake up early and put it on anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I still very much love makeup but it’s a chore getting it off properly! I felt the need to share that it is officially my first day of class in my very last semester of college!! 🎉🎉 (I say like I’m not planning on going back because I hate my degree) We’re gonna be rolling into Marketing Strategy with second day hair, brow gel, and some mascara and that’s it! Sadly, I actually have to attend an in-person lecture, but it’s the only one. I also thought that I might as well share the new routine AM: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Wash Ap+ Gentle Foaming Moisturizing Wash I gave this 4 stars because while it says fragrance free it has a strong citrus scent and burns the eyes, but it is definitely moisturizing and doesn’t strip the skin peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner I accidentally got this too close to my under eye and it dried it out GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum pretty nice, pretty standard VANICREAM - Lite Lotion DERMA•E - Scar Cream Sun Protectant SPF 35 PM: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Wash Ap+ Gentle Foaming Moisturizing Wash *a little pea size amount of tretinoin* GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum VANICREAM - Lite Lotion CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream I apply both moisturizers at night because my skin tends to dry out over night due to me keeping a fan going at all times My skin is a getter drier as the days go by, as expected, because my Accutane dosage has been bumped up and just due to the colder temperatures
Acne Skin Routine 🧴
I have acne-prone skin so I do this routine 1-2 times a week. I start by using the DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil to remove sunscreen and/or makeup. Although this one clogged my pores and made me break out, I still want to finish it before I find a new one. Next, I use the CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin to gently cleanse while exfoliating. I’ve been using this for a few months and haven’t noticed transforming results like others have. I tone with the peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner which has snail mucin (anti-aging), hyaluronic acid (hydrating), Centella Asiatica (soothing), and Tocopherol (Vitamin E). Overall great toner! I mildly exfoliate again with the VERSED - JUST BREATHE Clarifying Serum which has willow bark, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, zinc gluconate, and more. Finally, I moisturize with the cocokind - Texture smoothing cream which I have been loving! It has a lot of squalane which hydrates while balancing oils. Occasionally, I also use pimple patches when I’m breaking out (which is often). My favorite ones are the HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell ones.
Gentle Dry Skin Cleanser
Kiehl's - Cucumber Herbal Conditioning Cleanser I genuinely love this facial cleanser! It is a foaming, gentle facial cleanser made with cucumber extract to ensure that your skin feels smooth and hydrated after usage. I’ve always struggled with finding a facial cleanser that didn’t leave my skin feeling dry and stripped after using it. This conditioning cleanser leaves my skin not only feeling cleansed but also helps to restore my skin’s natural moisture barrier. I would highly recommend purchasing this product if you suffer from dry, sensitive skin.

How to Start your Asian Beauty Skincare Routine
There are a lot of benefits to an asian beauty skincare routine. Each step should target your specific skin needs. Below I share with you some products for when I made my starter routine. Focus on just 5 products to start and add on. I’m combination skin. Dry areas between eyebrows and chin, oily and produce sebum in nose area, enlarged pores on cheeks and a normal forehead. 😂 I benefit from the double cleansing method which is aimed to target each of my skin concerns. Stick to and build your own routine to prevent breakouts. I know it worked for me. 🤩 1. FIRST CLEANSER I use micellar water to remove build up and dirt 😍 on days I use BHA because I dry out too much using BHA daily. ✔️micellar water: It removes make up, dirt and targets my sebum and clogged pores. BIODERMA - Sébium H2O It’s a hybrid solution that doesn’t dry you out but removes excess oils! ✔️oil cleanser: Some Japanese skincare options for affordable cleansing oils:KOSE COSMEPORT - SOFTYMO Speedy Cleansing Oilor DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil and Lip Cream Gift Set. Kose one is mineral oil based and DHC one is olive oil based. It’s a trial and error to pick the right oils that won’t break you out. I splurged on TATCHA TATCHA - Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanser just because I feel more secure knowing that camellia oil is purely non-comedogenic. I have used 100% camellia oil before on my skin and it helped close an acne scar overtime with skin rejuvenation properties. Other first cleanser options: ✔️cream ✔️milk ✔️balm 2 SECOND CLEANSER Choose between a foaming or gel cleanser that’s water based. pH levels matter as bacteria tends to flourish at a neutral pH 7 compared to an acidic level. Recommended to keep a pH level of 4.7 for healthy skin. Note: not everyone needs a second cleanser. I use HADALABO - Deep Moisturizing Whip Foam this is so moisturizing and is super cheap! A product that truly works. Cleanses you without dryness at a puff of cloud each pump. 3 HYDRATING TONER Stray from the notion that it should be alcohol or astringent based. To me, those toners are a means to calm redness but shouldn’t be a permanent part of your routine. Look for toners that contain humectants like hyaluronic acid. HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion In asian beauty, hydrating toners can be referred to as lotion. This one contains 5 different hyaluronic acids and leaves a plump and bouncy glow! 4 MOISTURIZER belif - The True Cream Aqua Bomb Aloe Vera I’ve been using this a lot more than my TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream recently because it is TOO HOT. It leaves a cooling feeling that moisturizes without being oily perfect for summer. 5. SUNSCREEN I won’t dive in why because IT’S A MUST! elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 MY FAVORITE! Non-white cast, non-sticky, non-comedogenic 🤤

Simple AM Routine for Dry Sensitive Skin ☀️ 🌵
This is my boyfriend’s simple AM skincare routine (created by me! 😁). Before we met 3 years ago, he never moisturized or used sunscreen, and washed his face with body wash. 😱 As you can imagine, his skin used to be hella dry and dehydrated, and his skin barrier was damaged. He has very dry, sensitive skin, isn’t acne-prone, and likes simple and quick routines so that he doesn’t have to spend too much time getting ready. ☀️AM Routine 1. Water rinse face - both he and I skip morning cleansing as to not overly strip the skin of its natural oils. 2. ETUDE - Soon Jung, 2x Barrier Intensive Cream This cream has been a lifesaver for his skin! It has ingredients like Madecassoside to repair the skin barrier. On my combo skin, this cream sits a little too occlusive and shiny, but his skin drinks it up without it being too heavy. Many other simple moisturizers such as the Cerave Moisturizing Cream sting his skin, but this moisturizer does not. 3. PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ This sunscreen is a bit too moisturizing for me, but works well with his dry skin. It has a shiny finish on me, but absorbs more dewy on his skin and doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. His PM routine is also posted on my page!

The best products for dry/sensitive skin! :)
These two products are honestly a life saver. They are gentle but they work so well! CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This lotion is lightweight, and it feels so good on your face! It doesn’t have a smell to it, and the texture is so rich! I would rate this a 4/5 only because if your skin is super dry it will take a lot of uses to see results CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser This is my favorite facial cleanser! It doesn’t have any harsh chemicals in it, it doesn’t strip your face, it just leaves your face feeling clean and soothed! I would rate this a 5/5! :) I would recommend these products to probably anyone. It doesn’t make my face oily, so even people with oily/combo skin (like myself) can use it! And it’s really gentle, so those with sensitive skin won’t have a reaction to it!
CeraVe-Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin
Becoming a little obsessed with “Krave” 😅
Disclaimer! I have combination- more oily, acne prone and sensitive skin, what may work for me may not work for you! If you want a soothing, no-frills moisturiser, I think I found you the perfect match After trying out the Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser I was at a point where my moisturiser was running out and thought I might as well try the Krave moisturiser too if I liked the cleanser so much. My previous moisturiser was too occlusive and thick for my skin type and made it difficult for me to layer other serums and steps in my routine. The Krave - Oat So Simple Water Cream is so light weight and has the texture between a light cream and a watery cream which is perfect for my combination- oily skin heading into spring. It sinks into the skin very quickly as well which is good if you have a lot of steps to your routine or dont like waiting in between. This is defiantly worth a try at least
