Soko Glam Sheet Masks // GOODBYE CHERIE
I’ve been building out this big ol review over the past few months, but with the end of Cherie, I’m sharing before I’ve gotten to try them all :( thank you everyone for giving me a space to indulge my love of beauty! ++ In December I got a bonus at work and, after spending some on holiday gifts and putting some into savings, I naturally spent the rest on K-beauty Black Friday sales, specifically on sheet masks. See below for my quickfire reviews~ 🧖🏼♀️Hanskin - Real Complexion Hyaluron Moisture Mask (Single) Notable ingredients: hyaluronic acid, niacinimide, cica, rose water, and berry extracts I tried this following a BAD allergic reaction to a sheet mask from Target. Needless to say I was nervous about a repeat rash, but this was l o v e l y. It was cooling while on and my skin was plump, dewy, and radiant afterwards. I wish this was the formula for their Hyaluron serums/essences bc I would buy this in serum form in a heartbeat. 🧖🏼♀️#A’Pieu - Sea Buckthorn Sheet Mask[products]#[FourStars] Notable ingredients: sea buckthorn + kiwi extract This mask promises to brighten sensitive skin and reduce redness. It had a slight citrus smell, but was not overbearing while wearing it. I didn’t see immediate results, but I felt my skin was a bit brighter and more even by morning. Overall, not as wow’d as the Hanskin one, but this is a solid sheet mask! 🧖🏼♀️MEDIHEAL - Tea Tree, Essential Blemish Control Mask Notable Ingredients: tea tree oil, willow bark extract, cica, chamomile This mask is packed with herbal remedies, including a natural BHA. Although I wasn’t breaking out, my skin felt soothed, and my pores looked smaller and cleaner immediately after. I personally love the smell of tea tree, so it was a great aromatherapy addition to my spa night. I’ll likely save the other for when my skin is congested and irritated. xoxo LazyGlowUp 💖

Snail Mucin + Tiger Grass
Alternate Title: why I won’t be buying a simple HA serum again anytime soon After going through my $$ HA + B5 serum and looking for a replacement, I discovered the world of hydrating toners. They have the same hydrating powers of a serum and are 3 (or 4, sometimes 5) times the size for the same price, if not less! The value is insane! 🐌peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner This is what I opted to replace my morning hydrating serum with when I ran out. At first I didn’t find it hydrating enough, but after trying it on damp/wet skin, it did the trick (or my skin adjusted, unclear haha). It contains hyaluronic acid (hydrating), snail mucin (enzymatic and anti-microbial), and cica (anti-inflammatory) making it a perfect match for my sensitive acne-prone skin. While my face has been pretty clear the past few months, it’s been hard to judge its “zit-zapping” claims, but since I’ve been using it every morning after rinsing, my skin has remained clear, calm, and plump! Also, $15 for 4oz is waaaay better than the $27 1oz serum I was about to buy. Excited to try more hydrating, multi-tasking toners in the future :)

Calming Body Lotion
I included this in my body care post a while back, but this lotion deserves its own spotlight. Since my eczema came back in college, I’ve used everything from natural oils to heavy creams to try and keep my skin happy, and I can finally say this right here is it for me. (To preface, this isn’t heavy duty enough for healing an eczema patch, but it’s so so helpful for prevention purposes) 🧴Eucerin - Skin Calming Lotion for Dry, Itchy Skin This body lotion packs a punch in hydration & soothing power. It’s got glycerin, mineral oil, colloidal oatmeal, and dimethicone, making it lightweight, but still occlusive. The fact that it’s not super thick means a little goes a long way, saving me both time and money. The oatmeal puts in work to calm my reactive skin, especially when it gets irritated by a hot shower. This lotion also absorbs quickly enough to get dressed right away, but leaves a thin non-greasy layer of moisture behind, making my skin soft regardless of the season. I really can’t say enough good things about this- I’ve lost count of the number of bottles I’ve gone through in the past couple years. I even used it on my face one time when I broke out in a dermatitis rash from a new product and it totally soothed the irritation and didn’t break me out either. If all that wasn’t enough the value is killer at $15 for 17 oz.

Milky Lip Jelly
I have a thing for lip gloss, even though it’s probably the most high maintenance makeup item. I just love the way it looks, feels, applies.. it has a certain fun nostalgia for me. I’d had my eye on this gloss since it came out because I had been planning on picking up a Nyx Butter Gloss in a similar shade, but liked that these were more sheer. Many months later, I finally bit the bullet and bought it and, even though I’ll be wearing masks until who knows when, my heart is happy. 🍫TOWER 28 - ShineOn Milky Lip Jelly Gloss in Almond This is a thin gloss, not the most high shine, but I looove the color. It can be built up, or worn just as a tint. The deep tone just makes my lips’ natural color a little more prominent and neutralizes them a bit. Between this brown gloss and my new obsession with brown eyeliner, I’m feeling the nude/natural looks lately 😂 swipe for what it looks like in different lighting unfiltered.

Lux Eye Cream on a Budget
I know Youth To The People and “Budget” do not belong in the same post together, but stick with me! I’d been thinking about adding an eye cream to my routine for a while now, despite knowing they’re unnecessary. I tend to get dark puffy under eyes when I don’t sleep well, as we all do, and it would be great to have a fix for that. However, whenever I take a look at my options I’m appalled by the price to size discrepancy! Eye creams cost as much, if not more than facial moisturizers at 1/3 the size- wtf! I was about to order THE inkey LIST - Caffeine Eye Cream, but then made a key observation. YTTP’s brightening YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask comes in the same mini size as their popular YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Dream Eye Cream and has similar ingredients—and costs nearly $35 less. ‘Could the $15 mini mask serve as an affordable alternative for the almost $50 eye cream?’ I wondered.... We’ll never know since I’ll never spend $50 on a half ounce of product 😂 but after dabbing a tiny amount of the dream mask around the contour of my eye nightly for a week, I believe I’m seeing some brightening! Also worth noting that I have not seen any adverse effects either. I’ll keep on using this and am looking forward to the results a few weeks down the line 🤞🏼 PS the full size 2oz jar of the mask is the same price as the 0.5oz eye cream, which is an even better value than the mini size, but not sure I can commit to that just yet haha

I received these as a Christmas gift (per my own request) as part of the Keys Soulcare launch. The first three products released as part of Alicia Keys’s new self-reflection blog and lifestyle brand consist of an oat and sage candle, an obsidian facial roller, and a moisturizer. ♒️ KEYS SOULCARE - Skin Transformation Cream This gel/cream moisturizer is lightweight and contains niacinimide, bakuchiol, and ceramides, as well as malachite (but I’m unsure if that serves any purpose other than tinting it slightly blue). It feels cooling on the skin, absorbs quickly, and I love the affirmation on the back. Unfortunately, it sometimes caused *slight* red splotches and itchiness for about 10 minutes post-application. Nothing concerning, I do have very sensitive skin, but worth noting. The fragrance was also a bit perfumey for my taste, but I also mainly use fragrance-free products so it could be that it need to get used to it. All that being said, after a few days I realized it wasn’t moisturizing enough on my dry skin in winter, so I’ll probably pick up more consistent use in the warmer months. I don’t think I used it long enough to see the smoothing/evening impacts of the bakuchiol, but am intrigued by the ingredient! The candle smells great and I gave the roller to my mom and she loves it :) I’d recommend checking out the Soulcare blog as a resource for meditation, self-reflection, and generally empowering reading material!

🌿 I have combination skin so my t-zone is in the range of normal to oily skin and I have dry skin on my cheeks. My skin tone is warm ivory with a slight reddish discoloration in my cheeks I also have some freckles (sun spots) across my cheeks and my nose bridge (which bother me!). I also have very sensitive skin so I am alwyas cautious with new products or else my skin will becom super red and peel! 🌿When I look for products, I don’t really go out of my way to look for sustainable and clean beauty. I know, it’s so bad. I base how I get my products on reviews of other people and their claims. It is nice to look out for these types of products though and I do like when one of the products I get is cruelty free and clean. 🌿I definitely have lots of different mud masks but these two were great finds and I’ve been more into their products now too since they’re vegan, cruelty free, fragrance free, and dye free! 🌿The VERSED - PHOTOS, PLEASE BRIGHTENING TIGHTENING MASK claims to gently exfoliate your skin and brighten/ tighten it by using ingredients such as mineral- rich red kaolin clay, antioxidant-rich turmeric, and witch hazel. The VERSED - FIND CLARITY Purifying Mask claims to clear the pores while mildly exfoliating the skin by using ingredients such as clays and charcoals. The product is also completely non-toxic, vegan, cruelty-free, pregnacy-safe, and free of the bad things such as parabens, silicones, sulfates, and of course, animal testing! 🌿 The texture and consistency of the brightening mask is dense and velvety. This product is less spreadable than the clarity mask. The clarity masks’ texture and consistency is thick and creamy yet pretty spreadable. 🌿 I love the brightening mask better than the Clarity one. After washing off the mask, I noticed my skin became super soft and surprisingly brighter! It also feels like I just got a facial and my skin felt slightly firmer. My skin always looks dull when I travel a lot or after an all-nighter. I noticed that if I use this product after I wake up (only adds 10-15 min more to my morning routine) it gives my face a well-rested glow. The clarity mask, in my opinion, is slightly hard to wash off though since it is pretty creamy. I did feel like it slightly calmed inflamed skin such as some pesky pimple but didn't completly get rid of some. 🌿My tip on environmental protection and clean skincare is to thoroughly research a product and the brand before purchasing. Read reviews and look at the ingredients and packaging material! #cheriepartner

TIPS TO LOOK DECENT IN PHOTO ID’s✨
If you clicked on this, you’re probably like me and care what you look like in your id photos. You have your license with you for quite a bit so it makes sense to want it to look good. Here are some tips I used to take my photo that left results that I’m not embarrassed to show others when needed. LESS IS NOT MORE You always hear how less is more and that’s usually the case when you’re not being photographed. In pictures, lots of the makeup can be lost through the lens if it’s not exaggerated. Think false lashes and over lined lips to stand out. STICK TO NEUTRALS Today is not the day to try out bright colors and glitters. (Choose shades that compliment your natural skin tone. It is important to match your foundation and avoid using black shadow/ liners.) With bright colors you run the risk of becoming washed out with a color that does not suit you and glitter can create unwanted flashback mistakes, which takes me to my next point. BE PICKY WITH YOUR SETTING POWDER Nobody likes taking a picture and seeing that washed out white-cast all over their face from setting powder. To avoid this, simply stick to fine translucent powders such as the laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder . Powders that advertise ‘HD’ tend to create a flashback when photographed. CONTOUR/HIGHLIGHTING IS YOUR NEW BFF Remember those crazy contouring looks from 5 years ago? With photographing ID’s, those skills may come in handy. A photo is 2D so we want to bring more to the photo with these illusions. Choose a highlighter shade up to 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone and highlight the tops of the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, inner corner of the eye, and brow bone. With contouring, chose a neutral shade up to 3-4 shade darker than your skin tone and apply to the hollows of your cheeks, temples of the forehead, down the side of the nose, and finally the jawline. I recommend NARS - Radiant Creamy Concealer for highlighting and KKW BEAUTY - Crème Contour & Highlight Sets for contouring.

MILANI Blossomtime Rose VS. NARS Orgasm 🥊
I’m nervous as I write this post - I beg you cult beauty gurus : do not come for me! I promise not to speak your blush queen known as “NARS Orgasm”’s name in vain...hear me out for just a second 😅🔥 So, I love NARS blush as much as any blush-enthusiast but I’ve discovered that they can look overly pigmented on my skin tone in natural lighting. When I got my own office with a giant window ☀️, as I was checking to see if there was still some lunch in my teeth, I noticed that my blush was BLINDING 😎 in the mirror. I adoooore this blush but in natural light it looked barbie pink and glittery and all kinds of unattractive on my cheeks. It looks lovely in just about any other situation (parties, low light) but in the middle of the day, while I’m meeting with coworkers I’ve come to realize that it can be too much of a good thing. So I wanted to find something with the same shade properties as the NARS blush but maybe slightly less pigmented so that it doesn’t look so harsh on me in natural lighting. And what is peachy-pink, creamy and has just enough gold sheen all over? MILANI - Rose Powder Blush in “Blossomtime Rose”! This MILANI blush isn’t exactly a “dupe” for NARS orgasm but actually it is better looking because it pulls peach rather than pink on my light skin tone which is way more natural. It gives me that same gold sheen that I want on my cheeks but in a formula that’s a little more approachable in natural lighting. The best part about it is it lasts throughout the day! 10 hours of wear! And my NARS blush doesn’t do that. It also goes without saying that the MILANI one is $14CAD VS. $48CAD and saving a little nugget 💰 never hurt nobody. If you’re looking for something LIKE the NARS Orgasm blush but a little less intense and a lot less expensive, I would definitely give the MILANI one a try. It doesn’t skimp on the wear and it’s almost exactly the same shade profile just more natural. This way you can keep your NARS for a low-lit, full glam occasion 💄 and still have something similar to wear that is daylight-friendly.
