Dry, redness prone, sensitive skin
Hi everyone :) Since I can remember I’ve dealt with dry and sensitive skin. My skin is always red to some level. I’ve been to dermatologists in the past and they always said it was something I would grow out of. I’m 27 and while my skin has improved over time, I still have a lot of redness. I was never told that I have rosacea, but I’m pretty that’s what I’m dealing with! Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for products that might help? While my current routine works well for my skin, I’m curious to see if there’s anything else I could incorporate to help with my redness. Thanks in advance!
Dry and sensitive skin
FIRST AID BEAUTY
So I thought I would do a skin update. All the products I’ve been using have been tagged in the first photo. I’ve started this new regime a while back when my acne got really bad after I tried oil cleansing. And it’s been a long and difficult road since then and I noticed my skins needs have changed a little bit so I decided to update my routine. I have combination skin and the skin on my forehead is really dry and so is the area around my mouth but my nose and my cheeks are super oily. So I’ve decided to start usingThe Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5to help combat this as well as The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oilto further hydrate my skin. I also need a new sunscreen because I wasn’t a fan of the Neutrogena ultra sheer. The sunscreen would take a really long time to rub it in and if I got the sunscreen on my eyebrows or any of my hair it would turn white and flake, which wasn’t fun. So I’ve decided to try the Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30. I’ve also started icing my face recently and I’ve noticed that it helps reduce inflammation from acne. And I’ve also noticed that my facial features have become a little bit more defined but only when I ice my face consistently. While I don’t have much acne around my cheeks anymore, i’ve noticed that I keep getting acne in my upper lip area in the same spots. Although I still don’t know exactly what’s causing this acne I did read that certain toothpaste can contain sodium lauryl sulfate, which can clog pores if you get toothpaste on your skin. So I’ve become hyper aware of toothpaste getting on my skin when I brush my teeth now but I haven’t been paying attention long enough to notice a difference yet. And because of the consistent acne around my lips I have hyper pigmentation and that area is kind of getting dark now. I’m using vitamin C and Azelic acid to treat the hyper pigmentation but I’m not seeing results as fast as I would like. Does anyone know of a way to get faster results or how to treat it more effectively?
My Winter 2021 Skincare Routine
Hey guys, I’m going to be reviewing my 2021 winter skincare routine! PURITO - Comfy Water Sun Block This sunscreen is my go to. It’s so light and amazing, and really does the job. Keeping those UV rays without even being able to tell I have a sunscreen on. This sunscreen leaves no white cast either. Amazing! Mineral sunscreens are very sustainable as well. CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin I’ve been using this Salicylic Acid based cleanser for a couple months now, and can for sure tell the difference of the texture of my skin, and my pores. I’ll be also posting a full review of this product as well. No fragrance, and gets all the dirt and excess makeup off my skin. Amazing and no bad reactions! The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I’ve already reviewed this serum, so you can scroll down my account to see my opinion, but it is amazing. Super hydrating, light, a little tacky feel at first (takes a second to absorb into my skin) but afterwards I have a plump and hydrated feeling throughout my skin! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I started using this serum late July 2020. So far, no bad thoughts about it. This serum is super light, and really makes a difference. I’ll also be posting a full review on this product. A big difference in my pores since before I started using it. Less clogged pores, and a much smoother texture skin in problematic areas. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream This is my favorite winter moisturizer. It’s super thick, and absorbs well into my skin. It leaves me skin with a nice and soft feel to it. Using this moisturizer during the winter is amazing because it leaves my skin very hydrated throughout the whole day without any dry patches! CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream I’ve been using this since the summer of 2020, and I haven’t noticed much of a difference. You could probably just use your moisturizer as an eye cream, because I can’t tell a difference in my skin. I’m not going to waste it though and I’ll finish it off. Otherwise just use moisturizer as an eye cream. Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant Lastly, my favorite lip balm. The best way to keep your lips moisturized all year long is to use this product. I haven’t had any cracked lips or lip problems in years since I started using this product. Amazing and will never stop using Aquaphor!
Your New Favourite Cleanser
I am a total cream cleanser junkie. I can't get enough of them. In my opinion, gel cleansers can be too stripping and milk cleansers just don't finish the job. However, cream cleansers seem to be the perfect balance for any skin type (oily, dry, combo, sensitive) They get the job done when it comes to removing all the makeup and dirt from your face while still leaving it feeling soft. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser My latest find is this FAB Pure Skin Cleanser and I am absolutely obsessed. This is the best cleanser to use during the winter season because it is one of the most gentle cleansers I have ever used that still actually performs really well. It's pearly white tone with a very light texture that turns into a soft foam as soon as it hits water. It contains allantoin, feverfew, licorice root and aloe vera which are extremely soothing and calming for sensitive skin. 100% will be repurchasing and recommend it to anyone.
Birthday Gifts From Sephora 🎈
Since I am a Beauty Insider member & my birthday is in a week, Sephora sent me this awesome package! •MOROCCANOIL - Moroccanoil Treatment •MOROCCANOIL - Night Body Serum •MOROCCANOIL - Hydrating Styling Cream •FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser •FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream I have actually used all of these products before except the Moroccan Oil Body Serum! I am excited to give it a try because I have loved all of the other products from Moroccan Oil! Their treatment serum & styling cream are amazing! You only need a little bit of each & they make your hair look & smell amazing! I already use 100% Argan Oil in my hair daily so adding this into the picture is going to make my hair even better! I’m actually going to be dying my hair (either ombré or balayage) next weekend so I can use all the hydration possible!!! First Aid Beauty is also one of my favorite brands. I use their cleanser daily already so this one is going to get used up when I’m done with the tube I already have! The repair cream I don’t use in my face because I think it’s a bit too thick but I do use it everywhere else! I use it on my hands, arms, legs & feet! It really is an “everything” cream! I even use it on my 1 year old son! His cheeks have been getting pretty dry lately because it’s been so cold where we live & this is the only cream that I have found that helps him instantly! & we have tried every single “baby” cream before trying this! & none have held up to the ultra repair cream. What’s great about the FAB Cream is it is completely safe for babies, & their whole “ultra” line is also safe for sensitive skin. Lately I have been using the FAB ultra lip repair lip balm & I absolutely love it! Have you guys tried any of these products before?? If so, what’d you think? 💖 @cherie@CheriePick@Cheriebeauty
Some of my faves to stay hydrated in the cold
*I have oilskin that isn’t particularly sensitive* Derma-E Skin De-Stress Calming CBD Serum A super hydrating serum that works great for sensitive skin and can be used day and night. It helps reduce redness and is chock full of Omegas. I use in the morning and night after applying the next product which is... Hanskin Skin Essence Safe for sensitive skin. a K-Beauty essence which is a product I’ve experienced with this year to replace or enhance the use of a toner. I’m oily and so this doesn’t work well as a toner but it’s great to apply after cleansing + toning to add moisture into your skin. It’s super light and you literally only need to drop the bottle in your palm one time and dab directly on your face. After applying this I follow up with a serum as mentioned, then an oil and moisturizer. Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cleansing oil This is also safe for sensitive skin and the first cleansing oil I’ve tried. I’ve had this for almost a year. After first I was mainly using it before applying a face mask but as the weather gets colder, I’ll be using this once a day before applying a standard cleanser (double cleansing as the kids say) Fresh Sugar Lip Polish I got this from Sephora when I was eyeing Fenty Beauty’s lip scrub but the sales girl redirected me (sorry Rih Rih!). Lip exfoliation is something I should’ve gotten into sooner. Especially with the amount of 🌬🌲 I do. I love this scrub though, it’s made with sugar and super moisturizing. You really don’t have to apply a lip mask after scrubbing on your lips and rinsing it off but I do which brings me to... Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Baybeeee when I tell you my lips have never felt butterier?!? This right here is something your lips will thank you for. Best used before bed or as a prep before applying lipstick (which I learned from the queen, Tracee Ellis Ross) Lastly, and certainly not least Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream This is one of the most slept on skin care gems. This ultra moisturizing cream is made of olive oil, beeswax, honey propolis and Royal jelly 🍯 🐝 and guess what? I bought it for less than $10 at Walmart! The ingredient properties include antioxidants so it’s great for acne prone skin. I use this as my post-face mask moisturizer or in between serum and moisturizer application in the morning to give my skin an extra layer of hydration to protect against the elements outside. There is a version of this cream made by Taui that is less thick that I prefer (this will make you look greasy at first, Taui does not) when I’m getting ready to go out but where am I going right now? No where! DERMA•E - Skin De-Stress Calming CBD Serum Hanskin - Hyaluron Skin Essence boscia - MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil fresh - Sugar Lip Polish Exfoliator LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask EGYPTIAN MAGIC - Healing cream
Current faves! ❤️
Here's my current faves for January that are makeup and skincare products: GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover - I'm so surprised at how well makeup comes off using this! It's amazing and I didn't have an allergic reaction to it (typically makeup removers cause me to break out or make my face red, hot and blotchy) L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara in 201 black - I've been loving this mascara lately because it doesn't clump like crazy, it lengthens my lashes really well, and is so inexpensive!! HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Duo - I've used the original ones twice on some pretty big pimples and just a few hours later they were ready to pop! Also, I wore them during the day and tbh they aren't really that noticeable, maybe it's because of my skin tone & how the color of the patches is similar. They also stay on pretty well and really do the trick. Glossier. - Balm Dotcom in fig - I absolutely love this flavor and it's definitely the one I reach for the most. I've heard mixed reviews about it, and as someone who hasn't even tried a fig, I now want to try one. (the flavor probably isn't the exact same but that's ok) MARC JACOBS BEAUTY - O!Mega Bronzer Coconut Perfect in 102 tantric - this is my favorite bronzer ever and it's such a great value, because you get so much product. It's buildable, smooth, and smells so good!! NOTE: if you tap this item, it'll say that it's $65, which it's not! It's on sale for $34 at Sephora ($49 originally) DIOR - BACKSTAGE Face & Body Foundation in 1 cool rosy - I love this foundation and I've been reaching for it lately because of how smooth and buildable it is. ARMANI beauty - Luminous Silk Foundation in 3.75 - great coverage, super smooth, and really easy to blend out. One thing I do find when I use this foundation is that I need 2 pumps in order to get it to cover my whole face. It's not something super concerning, but I find some foundations go farther and I don't mind using 2 pumps tbh.
Dry Winter Skin (& tips when using retinol)
It is important to take good care of your skin in the winter. The cold air is harsh on the skin and can cause dehydration, dryness, and irritation. For those who use retinol (such as prescription tretinoin), these issues are always a concern and in the winter it is extra important to be mindful of how your skin is reacting. When you use a strong retinol your skin is automatically considered dry and sensitive due to the nature of the active ingredient. Whether you are using retinol or just struggling with dry winter skin, here are some tips to help you manage: ❄️Use a Gentle Cleanser❄️ Stay away from stripping cleansers as your skin’s moisture barrier is already compromised in the cold weather. Also, when removing makeup/double cleansing, stay away from makeup wipes because they are harsh on the skin and instead use a micellar water or cleansing balm. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser is my recommendation for a gentle cleanser. It works for all skin types. GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm is a fantastic makeup removing balm that hydrates the skin and is a perfect first step in a double cleansing routine. ❄️Add Hydrating Ingredients❄️ Try using products that contain humectants or other hydrating ingredients such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid. This will help your skin avoid irritation from the cold. You can incorporate this through any step of your routine, but I recommend hydrating serums and masks. GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer can be used as a light moisturizer for those with oily skin, but I recommend using it as a hydrating serum under a thicker moisturizer. When my skin is feeling especially sensitive I mix it with my retinol to dilute the retinol and make it more tolerable for my skin. GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask is a hydrating masking option if that is what you prefer. ❄️Switch to a Different Moisturizer❄️ Make sure you have a thicker moisturizer when the weather changes to help protect your skin. The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and ETUDE - Soon Jung, 2x Barrier Intensive Cream are good moisturizer options for the winter. ❄️Consider Occlusives❄️ Some people like to add an occlusive layer over their moisturizer to further protect from the winter air and to lock in the hydrating ingredients underneath. You could use something as simple as Vaseline - 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly, Original or even an oil such as The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane to add an occlusive layer. ❄️Don’t Forget Lip Care❄️ Use a balm such as BURT’S BEES - Nourishing Mango Butter Lip Balm Tube to fight chapped lips! If you have any recommendations for dry winter skin please let me know in the comments!
So I haven’t been on here in a little while because I’ve been trying to take a break on taking photos of my face and looking at skincare social media because it’s really compromised my mental health and I’m a lot less stressed about it when I’m not constantly focused on it if that makes sense :) Anyways WHOLE NEW ROUTINE last time I checked in I had mentioned I switched to differin, I’m not too sure if that helped me, I did purge a lot. But skin has healed so much faster since stopping differin I finally got to visit the derm and she told me to go back on tretinoin 0.025% to use every night, and she also prescribed me with the clindamycin topical solution 1% to use once every morning. She also advised me to go back on birth control. At first I was not fond of that because birth control AKA I.U.D HELL brought this acne upon me in the first place. But she recommended it to get my hormones back in check, but she also stated she wasn’t comfortable prescribing me spirlactone (which is what I was aiming for) without using BC even though I stated to her I am not sexually active currently and I don’t plan to be for a very long time. Anyways, I made an appointment with my obgyn and got on birth control pills, if you are curious to which one it’s called “Drospirenone” I haven’t started them yet because she told me to wait until the first Sunday during my period. But I have been consistently using the tret and the clindamycin every day for only a week and a half so far and I’ve already seen a lot of improvement. I don’t want to get too excited because I this is what happened the first time with tret, it was great the first week or two and then my skin started to purge. I’ve now been through the purging process 3 times. And it’s gonna be torture to go through it again but if it happens then it happens 🙏 Super nervous to start the birth control for the same reason but I can only be positive and hope for the best! My full routine currently is AM VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser clindamycin topical solution 1% (derm prescribed) LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30 *im switching to a higher spf PM VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream (the extra dry unscented version) OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream(derm prescribed) And sometimes I like to put another thin layer of moisturizer on top once the tret is absorbed to prevent irritation and dryness
I don’t know what to do
The first photo to the left is my left side of my face on November 3rd of 2020, the second photo the right is the left side of my face today Janurary 10th 2021 November 2nd is the first day I started tretinoin 0.025% Around December 15th I believe I decided to switch to differin instead because I had lost my Health insurance so I couldn’t afford it. Since then my skin care routine has comepletely changed Im not sure why my skin just keeps getting worse. My cysts and spots will go down and as soon as they are looking good I get a bunch of cystic spots all over, every single one of my closed comedones are turning into big red cysts and pimples that take forever to go away, none of my acne goes away within a few days. I feel like it’s just spreading and I’m getting more and more closed comedones as well. This is my routine *i started with tretinoin Nov 2nd 2020, I used it every 3 nights for a few weeks and then went on to use it every other night up until around December 15th 2020 I started using Differin i started using that every 3 nights for the first week and some, then I used it every other night for a few weeks and now I’ve been using it every single night consistently the past few weeks* AM •DIFFERIN - Daily Deep Cleanser BPO 5% OR VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser •LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30 PM •VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser •e.l.f. - Holy Hydration! Face Cream - Fragrance Free •DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel My routine as you can see is very simple, my face is just getting worse and I don’t know if it’s because I’m purging still, or something is making me breakout?! I’m feeling hopeless 😩 my PIH and scaring is so bad already and it’s just getting worse :,( please help I’ll take any advice I could get. I’m seeing a derm on the 18th of this month I finally saved some money for. I’m hoping they can help me :(
My Current AM Routine
I feel like my routine is always changing due to purchasing new products to try and review, however here is my current AM routine. HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash (fragrence free) I've only just recently started using this, but I will say I like this one. I find it similar to LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser Holifrog is a little more hydrating since it feels like a lotion than a cleanser. The La Roche cleanser is a good dupe if you need something a little cheaper and at the convince stores. If you have dry skin I highly recommend Holifrog, but if you have normal to oily skin and are just experiencing some sensitivity (like your skin barrier) then I would go with La Roche. COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence (fragrence free) I really enjoy this product because I feel like I am getting a good size value for the price. It also doesn't feel any different than any other HA essence or serum that I've tried (one being a very expensive one). Krave - Great Barrier Relief (fragrence free) This guy is definitely my holy Grail and I have reviewed it before. I use it daily due to my dry skin, but if you have normal to oily skin I definitely recommend having this on hand especially if you like to try new products and if it possibly irritates you or if you over do actives. PETER THOMAS ROTH - Potent-C Vitamin C Power Serum (fragrence free) I've also done a review already on this one. It is very potent and has a stable form of vit C, however unless you are trying to severely even out skin tone or remove dark spots, I would not spend the money. It is definitely pricey (almost $100). If you really need the potency of this product, then go ahead. Otherwise if you are just looking to fix minor issues/use it to go along with your spf, I'd go with a cheaper (still stable) product likeTHE inkey LIST - Vitamin C Serum 30ml(I have not personally tried this inkey list product, but have heard good things about it's ingredients as well as being a reasonable price) FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream (fragrence free) I am really enjoying this new product. It is a step up fromCeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream which I also love for the simplicity and price value, but this one has even more soothing ingredients such as colloidal oatmeal. I like to use this in the morning because it doesn't make my face overly shiny before I head out the door and it also goes well under make up (with a primer of course) #Deoproce - Hyaluronic Cooling Sun Gel spf 50[products]#[FourStars] (NOT fragrence free) I just recently bought this sunscreen and it is my first Korean spf. I love how easily it goes on and it gives me enough glow without looking greasy. My complaint would be that it's not fragrence free, but I'm happy it got me started. Next I'll likely try Krave - The Beet ShieldorTHANK YOU FARMER - Sun Project Water Sun Cream
Ok guys if you been following me my bumps are starting to dry up and now I have dark spots. My right side is completely healed and the left is my trouble side. After seeing my dermatologist for my follow up appointment she went up on the dose of the retinoid I use at night. If you are wondering my routine this is what I'm using. Also go look at my old pics to see where I started from. Neutrogena - Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask I love this as it dries out my bumps LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser I use this at night and love how it's super light CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion light way and keeps face moisturizer at night elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I use the tinted version now great for black girls only in the morning and I do two fingers when I apply it The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I just started using it super light weight. I started as a suggestion to help purging. Haven't told my dermatologist I'm using it but it has made the bumps on the right side calm down so so far so good. I'll update this to five stars after I have enough data to support if it really works.CeraVe - Healing Ointment I use when I experience dryness from the winter. A lot goes a long way .

Face Picking Relapse & How I’m Moving Forward
So.. it happened. I relapsed and started picking my face again for the umpteenth time. I won’t lie, relapsing on a bad behavior like skin-picking sucks! I definitely beat myself up over it and even gave up entirely on stopping for a few weeks. That is, until I realized that feeling bad about myself and actively allowing myself to pick were absolutely never going to help me stop. The only way to stop is to be kind to myself and try again. Now, I’m choosing not to focus on my relapse or the fact that I was only able to stop for a few days. It’s happened many times before and it will surely happen again. After all, picking is a compulsion, and usually not a conscious choice. In addition to my other “stop picking” behaviors mentioned in my last post , here’s what I’ve been doing since my little revelation: Stopped keeping a tally of “days without picking”I realized I was way too hyper focused on the number of days I could go without picking and it was actually making me think about picking more. If I catch myself picking I stop and move on, I’m basically not making myself feel shame or guilt anymore. This has helped me significantly cut down on picking Started seeing a therapist. I’ve wanted to try therapy for years and finally gathered the courage to do it! My therapist has made it clear that this is a really tough thing to stop but she has been helping me identify why I pick which is something I had never given any thought to. This is helping me to try to find what helps me not pick and behaviors I can do when I feel that “urge”. Even if this doesn’t help me stop picking, it’s been so beneficial to my mental health already. Changed my thinking I’ve been reminding myself that picking is like hitting the “un-do” button on my routine that I’ve worked really hard to develope. My active acne is staying away and the urge to pick lessens significantly when I don’t have any scabs or spots to pick at. Some other things that have really been helping with my skin: DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator Krave - Oat So Simple Water Cream Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream *HG🙌🏼 HERO COSMETICS - Rescue Balm -this stuff seems to heal spots I pick at in hours! I put it on immediately after picking and before bed. Seriously helps cut down on scabs to pick at. I’ve also started to eat more anti-inflammatory food (currently obsessing over blueberries). It may or may not be a placebo effect but I swear my skin has been way less inflamed! First picture is when I “gave up”and second picture is my skin today. I still have a ways to go but I feel like I’m finally making progress.
perfect hydration cream for dry winters
I got this FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream sample from Sephora and I’m so glad I chose this one! This cream isn’t heavy, it’s actually pretty lightweight, but it definitely feels hydrating and moisturizing to the skin. It’s not oily or greasy, and after using it for the past few nights, I’ve found it doesn’t cause breakouts for me, which is great! I use this both morning and night, and I love how great my skin feels after using this! I just moved back to school in Western Massachusetts where it’s dry and cold, so this cream is perfect for me! I have oily-combination skin, and although this cream is formulated for dry skin, it works well for my skin! This cream is safe for sensitive skin and it’s formulated with colloidal oatmeal, shea butter, and ceramide 3, so it has great calming abilities too! I believe a 14oz jar of this cream costs $60, which is a tad expensive for my taste, and I think a comparable cream in terms of texture and function would be the CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream , and it only costs about $16 for a 16oz jar. Let me know what you guys think!
Game Changers! 💞As An Oily Skin, These Products Changed My Skin...
For oily skin like mine, it is SO important to use the right products and the right techniques to get the best results! Having kept this in mind over the years, I have narrowed down my TOP THREE favorite products, of all time, in a list especially for you! The first product I am going to credit, is the L'ORÉAL - Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Cleanser. It is very refreshing for the face and has a great soothing effect. I like it mainly because it contains Salicylic acid, which helps in dissolving the type of skin debris that clogs pores and causes acne. With oily skin, clogged pores are ever so common, and anyone with oily skin can attest to this. But fear not! This product is AMAZING because the Salicylic acid in this micellar water can directly dissolve the plugs and I can literally feel the change after just a couple of uses! My pores become smaller and my skin has a smoother texture overall! I am not lying when I say the texture of my skin completely changed after a month of using this product! The second product that I HAVE to highlight, is a good moisturizer. With oily skin, you might feel that a moisturizer is not necessary, but I’m here to tell you that you NEED to moisturize! This is because other cleansing and toning products meant for oily skin usually do more than necessary, especially if you have make up on and need more than one go to get it off, and strip away the necessary oils from the face. I like to use the CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion as it moisturizes throughout the night and helps restore the protective skin barrier. It is also beneficial for acne prone skin. I’ve noticed that it completely removes all the smaller pimples and comedones and leaves my skin even all around. When I use this product, I KNOW that I will wake up the next morning with skin as soft as a baby’s! The last of my TOP 3, is a serum. I have been using ADVANCED CLINICALS - Tea Tree Oil! I use this serum on a clean face, then lock it in with a good moisturizer, which results in soft and beautiful skin. The oil is blended with Vitamin E Oil and Witch Hazel, both of which have worked miraculously for my skin. It took only about a week to reduce the redness and scarring on my skin, and now it has become a staple in my routine. If you have oily skin, I strongly recommend these products because they have been magical for me, and I’m sure that they will work well for you!
L'ORÉAL-Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Cleanser
P.M. Routine ✨
After seeing a dermatologist, I have started using clindamycin gel in the AM and tretinoin cream in the PM for my persistent acne. I also have dry, sensitive skin so I am taking things slow. For two weeks I’ll be using the tretinoin cream every three days, then every other day for two more weeks, and then I will start using it every night as prescribed. Here is my P.M. routine! GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover This is the first component of double cleansing. I use this to remove my sunscreen. I gently wipe the product on using a fabric/reusable “cotton” pad. CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser This completes my double cleansing! It’s a gentle, creamy cleanser perfect for dry & sensitive skin. My derm highly recommended CeraVe products! I will keep repurchasing this product because I love it so much. PAULA'S CHOICE - Enriched Calming Toner This is a new addition to my routine, and I am already in love with it! I apply it using a reusable fabric pad. It leaves my skin feeling soft and less irritated. It’s a milky texture. PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum This is also a new addition to my routine. I like it, but I do not love it. I will be trying the Krave Great Barrier Relief serum when I’m out of this. CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream I absolutely love this stuff. It’s thick and perfect for dry, sensitive skin at the end of the day. It moisturizes and protects my skin. OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream This was prescribed by my dermatologist. I apply it after my night cream to help provide a barrier to decrease sensitivity. I use a pea-size amount and dot it onto my cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead before blending it in.

what worked for me
background: all my life i thought i had oily skin because i had acne but recently i’ve noticed my skin is dry and sensitive. i used Aveeno - Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser for 2 years. the cleanser did have some good ingredients that kept my cysts at bay but overall i found it very stripping and i still had acne. my doctor recommended a water based moisturizer so my mom picked up Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer and i used it for 2 years as well. with a constant skincare routine i thought that my acne would settle down but it did not. i asked my friend whats she did to control her acne and she said that she popped her pimples with a hot needle so i tried it. to nobodies surprise, i got acne scars. i went back to my doctor and she prescribed a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide cream mixed with 0.3% adapalene (tactupump) and that cleared the whiteheads but it gave me very bad chemical burns all over my face. what worked for me cutting out fragrance was the best decision i’ve ever made!!! i change my pillowcase every night and only use a cleanser at night. i have a really bad habit of sleeping on my hands so i use hand sanitizer after i put my phone down for the night and i don’t touch anything else. products i use The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser i use this as a cleansing balm to remove my makeup. super hydrating and non irritating YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser it’s not overly stripping and still has a little bit of a smell due to the natural ingredients but is non irritating The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalane i alternate between retinol and chemical exfoliation every night. as i just introduced retinol into my skincare routine i’m starting with a lower percentage to build up a tolerance. The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA i apply the product after i finish with my squalane cleanser and then wait 10 minutes for the acid to do its job then follow up with my superfood cleanser. it has done wonders for my acne scars and pores!! it’s great for my sensitive skin The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA i use this as a “primer” for my moisturizer. because this product is filled with humectants, it does a really good job of making sure that my moisturizer really penetrates my skin. because i live in a dry climate, using this as a moisturizer by itself wouldn’t be enough CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin SO GOOD. this is the only moisturizer that can make my skin not feel like it’s been grilled on a bbq. it offers amazing ingredients and protects the skins moisture barrier CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 it’s not very moisturizing and it’s hard to spread but it gives good sun protection. it has a little bit of a white cast but it’s not terrible

Critique a skincare newbie’s routine
Skins problems: I tend to get mild Rosacea on my lower cheeks and develop tons of blockheads in the creases of my nose, chin and between eyebrows. Other than that I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and normal to dry everywhere else. Where I’m at... So I kinda feel down the rabbit hole into skincare the other month and have tried using a morning routine as follows: GARNIER - Micellar Water Facial Cleanser Sensitive Skin The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (Made my skin so smooth really quickly, love this one) CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Oil-Free Gel Neutrogena - Sheer Zinc Face Lotion SPF 50 (leaves a really bad white tint which I can’t seem to get rid of) And a nighttime routine as follows: CLINIQUE - CLINIQUE Liquid Facial Soap (leaves my skin a bit tight-feeling) PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator (I think it’s working I just can’t really tell) CLINIQUE - Clarifying Lotion 2 For Dry Combination Skin (a bit drying but I don’t want to waste the product) The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (Made my skin so smooth really quickly, love this one) CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Oil-Free Gel Outcomes so far: My skin is overall more hydrated and smoother but I still find black dots in my problem areas. Plea for help I have seen improvements but I feel like I don’t quite know what I’m doing and could use some external input. Plz feel free to add any (and I mean any) tips or critique. Thank youuuuuuu

Hi everyone I just want to say thank you to everyone for following my skin journey 2020! I just want to say what a year it has been. With everything going on with being quarantine and being stress out. I’m still trying to figure out why it’s always my right cheek to always breakout or flare up or always constantly red. But I can finally say I have found a product that has helped with my skin and it leaves it Silk and smooth all day long and night! And doesn’t leave it itchy or irritated. I’m so happy I have found my face not breaking out as much and it seems to help calm my rosacea on some days. I’m stilling looking to hear what has help people who are dealing with rosacea problems? And looking how to get rid of a dark spot that is in the middle of my forehead?
