BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN

Wearing Sunscreen is Essential! ☀️✨
And thanks to@cherieBlack Girl Sunscreen is one of my new SPF essentials. The creator of Black Girl Sunscreen created it as a solution for Black women struggling to find sun protection. Also as a way to encourage women of color, to spend more time exploring nature and the great outdoors! Which is great because this sunscreen is water-resistant & works for the face and the body. There’s even a kids version available! The formula is also free of reef-damaging chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate, it’s completely free of parabens and fragrances as well. For me and my dark skin, it’s important for me to find a sunscreen that is going to protect my skin, & do it without the dreaded white cast. This sunscreen provides all of that! I use about a nickel size of this, & rub it into my skin. It applies nicely & isn’t ashy, greasy, or sticky. Most importantly, it's completely invisible upon my skin, & leaves it with a perfect glow afterwards! I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Especially to my girls with melanin. You definitely won’t regret it. This is available at Target for $15.99 for a 3 fl oz tube. Thank you Cherie for sending me this to review! ☀️ BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30
No Casper vibes with this SPF!
I received the highly recommended Black Girl Sunscreen moisturizer from @cherieto review. BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 I don’t have much to say about this product except that it’s the bomb! Especially if you have any melanin to your complexion 😉 This SPF leaves no white cast so none of that dreaded Casper look. On top of providing sun protection it’s also super moisturizing enough so that I don’t need to apply additional moisturizer prior. Lastly this stuff does NOT smell like the spf we are used to. As someone with hyperpigmentation and dark spots I cannot skip sunscreen ever! And this helps protect and moisturize my delicate face

Week 1 of Tretinoin and Spironolactone
For 1 week, I’ve been taking spironolactone every morning and applying .025% tretinoin every other night. Starting today, I will apply tretinoin every night. Regarding the spironolactone, I haven’t been experiencing any serious side effects. So far, I’ve been peeing more often and every once in a while I would get cramps that are similar to period cramps (I’m expecting my period to come at the end of this month). Regarding the tretinoin, I’ve been experiencing lots of purging. So many pimples have surfaced. I’ve also had some dryness, especially around my mouth and nostrils. I recently started using the CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin every morning and it’s been good in taming my peeling skin. Let me know if you guys have any tips regarding tretinoin or spironolactone!
‼️PSA: CEREVE CREAM TO FOAM CLEANSER‼️
I had so much hope for this cleanser. It literally went into my hand looking like shampoo, foamed up and lathered beautifully. The experience was 12/10! However. My cheeks had the WORST reaction. My face has never felt this burnt, flaky and dehydrated ever. Only my cheeks and under my nose had a reaction, aka my dry areas. My oiler areas (t-zone) didnt react at all. I’m soooo sad. I’m currently using the cereve hydrating cleanser in the morning & inkey list SA cleanser in the evening. I do was my fave twice a day because if I don’t by skin doesn’t feel as soft and nourished. So, that’s why I went with a super gentle cleanser for morning. Maybe even needing to use the SA cleanser 2-3x/week. I’m looking for something gentle, but will get my sunscreen off. Any recommendations would be extremely appreciated 💗💗💗💗 CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin
How to Get Rid of Blackheads: Best Ingredients to Look For！
Blackheads are a skincare occurrence that most of us struggle with, whether you have oily skin or not. Before knowing what ingredients to use to get rid of them, what you need to do is understand what blackheads are in the first place. What is a blackhead? Blackheads are one of the most common forms of acne. Our pores sometimes get congested with dead skin and sebum. When this gunk comes in contact with the air, it gets oxidised, and turns black, and hence is called a blackhead. While some people are genetically prone to blackheads, and those with oily skin tend to have more, they can also occur due to hormonal changes (like puberty or starting a new hormonal birth control) or from wearing heavy makeup. Dermatologist-approved Ingredients for blackheads “The good news is that there is a cornucopia of over-the-counter products that contain effective ingredients to exfoliate, soften, and even remove blackheads,” says Allison Britt Kimmins, MD, MPH. Here I did some research about dermatologists to get the lowdown on which ingredients fight them best and some products recommendations. Salicylic acid Salicylic acid, found in many acne products, is a longtime skincare staple for its ability to unclog pores by cleaning out enlarged follicles that fill with sebum and become blackheads. Because the ingredient can irritate the skin if used too much, it’s best to use it as a targeted treatment instead of all over your face or body. Many people may be sensitive to salicylic acid and be able to use it more than once every few days. If you continue to react to it, discontinue use. Try:PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant This Paula’s Choice product has long been a cult-favourite salicylic acid exfoliator. The lightweight formulation absorbs quickly and is formulated at the optimal pH of 3.2 to 3.8 for maximum efficacy. Green tea extract is also present to provide calming and antioxidative properties. Glycolic acid An alpha hydroxy acid derived from sugarcane, gives blackhead-prone skin a fresh start. It goes to work by exfoliating the top skin layer and cleaning out clogged follicles. The benefits of this gentle acid are twofold. By dissolving the upper skin layer, it also triggers the skin cells to repair themselves—therefore creating more collagen. Try:exuviance - Pore Clarifying Cleanser It is soap-free formula and contains AHAs, PHAs, BHAs, suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. Azelaic acid "Azelaic acid is a dicarboxylic acid that helps exfoliate the skin and is synthesized by yeast naturally,"says NYC-based dermatologists Gervaise Gerstner, MD. It is a multifunctional skincare ingredient that targets blackheads and can also lighten the brown discolouration caused by acne. Try: DERMAdoctor - Photodynamic Therapy Age Spot Eraser & Skin Brightener A revolutionary brightening face treatment Developed with awardwinning, antiaging red light technology Formulated with hydroquinonefree botanical boosters Helps even skin discoloration. Benzoyl Peroxide Like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide works as a keratolytic agent, which means it’s able to break down and loosen the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and down in the pores. In addition to cleaning out pores, benzoyl peroxide fights the bacteria that lead to breakouts. Try:Clean&Clear - Persa-Gel 10 Acne Medication Spot Treatment It can be drying, however, and harsh on sensitive complexions. Spot treat on a small patch of skin first to make sure you don’t react. Witch Hazel Witch hazel, which naturally soothes blackhead-prone skin with anti-inflammatory properties, appears most commonly in toners. If your regimen begins with toner, pass on the drying alcohol–based formulas and opt for water-based products. Try:THAYERS - Witch Hazel Blemish Clearing Toner A fan-favorite and easily one of the most well-known witch hazel-containing products, this toner is recommended by Zeichner and also contains rose petal water and aloe to help hydrate and calm the skin. "It's important to eliminate oil, scale, salt, and possibly makeup after a workout to prevent these materials from congealing in pores," explains Craig Kraffert, MD, president of Amarte Skin Care. Noted that cleansing with a gentle cleanser (or a mild exfoliant) is best. Although some people may see a dermatologist for their blackheads, and there are also in-office treatments that can help, it’s really worth trying some skincare products with ingredients that can help us get rid of blackheads！ Reference: https://www.advanceddermatologypc.com/doctors/allison-britt-kimmins/ https://www.gerstnermd.com/ https://www.medfordderm.com/about/meet-the-office

Versed Skin Soak Rich Moisture Cream
VERSED - SKIN SOAK Rich Moisture Cream This moisturizer has vitamin e, algae extract, and squalane (it hydrates and replenishes the skin). Versed recommends that oily skin types only use this as a PM moisturizer, but drier skin types can use this for AM and PM. 👉🏻I like this moisturizer, but nothing beats HONEST - Hydrogel Cream . The Versed moisturizer is a very rich cream when you apply it to the skin, and soaks into the skin very quickly. I have dry skin, so I prefer moisturizers that leave a little residue on the skin to help retain the moisture. This moisturizer would work better as a AM moisturizer for me. If I use it as a PM moisturizer, I have to add a little face oil on top to help seal in the moisture. 💵This face cream is $17.99 at Target. It’s a decent price for the amount of product in the jar. This product would last a long time, Versed recommends using a pea sized amount and trust me, a little of this product goes a long way! ♻️Another thing I love about Versed; this container is recyclable (most of their product’s containers are). You just have to clean out the container and put it in your curbside recycling!
Versed vs My Skin
I’m a big fan of skincare that can be found at Target- some people think it’s cheap, but I think it’s full of hidden gems. Not every product from every brand is gonna be a hit, but whenever I find a good product it’s like I struck gold and it quickly becomes a staple in my skincare routine. With the release of Versed skincare, I was more than excited to see how their products stacked up compared to some of my favorites. Winter has been especially hard on my skin this year, and I was in dire need of a more hydrating daily moisturizer, so I assumed Versed Rich Moisture Cream would do the trick. It’s less than 20 dollars for 1.5 oz of product, and it’s marketed for dry and aging skin. Looking at the ingredients, nothing stood out as clearly drugstore brand and it looked liked it’d be the perfect addition for my skin!! Upon first application, I totally fell in love. I’m not the biggest fan of open containers for products, but I also think an open jar means you won’t waste even a bit of product. It felt lightweight but still impactful, leaving my skin immediately moisturized and nourished, with a hint of a glow left on my face as well. For the first time in weeks, my skin stayed completely hydrated throughout the day. It’s creamy and non-greasy, but not so thick that you feel like you’re really rubbing into your skin as you apply it. Another thing that I absolutely love - absolutely NO fragrance. Just a moisturizer doing it’s job- moisturizing! Now that I’ve been using it for a few weeks, however, I’ve noticed some issues in my skin. This moisturizer’s second ingredient is hydrogenated polyisobutene, which is an emollient. Emollients are GREAT for dry skin because they form a protective layer over your skin to lock in moisture. They’re not that great, though, when you’re prone to acne. They don’t clog pores, but that protective layer also traps bacteria for the day as well. Since using this moisturizer, my cystic acne is making a come back. My skin hasn’t been like this for me since I first realized that emollients react badly with my skin! I thought it was just dimethicone since that’s what was in my old moisturizer, and because it’s used in a lot of cheaper moisturizers, but now I know to look out for all emollients in my skincare!! I’m going to finish this product because it definitely works wonders for my dry skin, and I hate the idea of wasting money or product. I’m definitely not going to buy it again, though, because it’s making me break out, and I had just gotten so confident and used to only getting pimples around my period. This 24/7 acne again is just NOT for me! Everyone’s different, so if you’re not prone to acne or your skin reacts better to emollients, this moisturizer is a STEAL for the price and effectiveness!!

simplicity is key?
life can very easily get in the way sometimes. this can be so severe that, at least in my case, i end up sacrificing things like my skincare routine or other self care, thus making my skin worse and giving me ANOTHER reason to be stressed out. this being said, i’ve abandoned a lot of steps of my routines (which were sometimes 6 steps long!!) to help make my routine quicker and more manageable. am + pm i use these products in this order: cleanse: Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Cleanser or THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser tone: THE inkey LIST - Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner (i use this every other night) serum/oil: e.l.f. - All the Feels Facial Oil eye cream: zero by skin academy (tried adding this as a new item multiple times but i give up typing it all in every time) moisturizer: e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream or Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Moisturizer (i usually opt for the milk one at night as it is thicker and heavier) spot treatment: THE inkey LIST - Succinic Acid Acne Treatment (not pictured) sunscreen: live clean mineral face sunscreen SPF 45 #cheriecreator
AFTER PARTY : first impressions
Milk MAKEUP - After Party Skincare Set for $43 CAD, i purchased this set of skincare products from Milk Makeup through Sephora. here is a first impressions of all products you get as listed below: 59ml of Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Cleanser regular price $20 CAD, or $40 CAD for 118ml 15ml of Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Moisturizer regular price $25 CAD, or $50 CAD for 48ml a full sized 3g Milk MAKEUP - Kush Lip Balm in “green dragon”, regular price $21 CAD AND a milk makeup-branded headband!!! so let’s just get into the review!💗 Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Cleanser thoughts: i really like this cleanser so far. it is non-fragranced and foams very nicely. after applying it, it did not make my skin dry or tight-feeling. i give it 4 out of 5 stars only because i have not tried using it to remove eye makeup yet and that is a somewhat big determining factor for me when trying new facial cleansers. also there is, to me, a VERY reasonable amount of product here for a trial run with it. Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Moisturizer thoughts: this moisturizer is unlike anything i’ve tried before and i’m so into it!!! it is a very thick cream but has this really interesting mattifying quality when applied to the skin. it is also fragrance-free which is awesome! after wearing overnight, my skin feels more supple and definitely still very moisturized. i am definitely considering purchasing the full-sized one when i inevitably empty this little guy!! Milk MAKEUP - Kush Lip Balm this lip balm definitely feels like a step up from other lip balms I’ve tried. the packaging is super cool with a magnetic lid. despite being full-sized, i don’t really like that it comes with so little product. i like that the shade i have, green dragon, is green in the packaging then becomes clear when applied. you can definitely tell it is a more natural product as the formula is slightly grainy rather than super smooth which doesn’t bother me. even after it wears off my lips still feel smooth. i only scored it so low because it doesn’t come with enough product for the price in my opinion, and i have no info about long-term use or moisturizing properties quite yet. i really look forward to continuing to use these products and seeing how they work, and if requested i would love to do a follow-up once i empty these (or maybe i won’t?) to see more long term effects. hope you guys enjoyed! feel free to follow here and on my IG @chloebrk.mua #cheriecreator
Hello skin care junkies! My name is Rosie and my skin needs more than a bit of help. Above is my most recent Skin Journey picture. My skin has always been sensitive, and my face is combo (oily cheeks, dryish everywhere else). Currently, my morning routine is rinse with lukewarm water, moisturize with BURT’S BEES - Daily Face Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin, and then use CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide. Nighttime routine is wash with CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skinand then apply CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. This has helped my acne somewhat (am still working on not touching my face when stressed), but it’s skill there and so is my hyperpigmentation/acne scars. Furthermore, I’ve noticed that I frequently get razor burn/strawberry skin on my legs when I shave, and I do not know how to fix this. Please leave any comments for what you think may be helpful, I appreciate it all.
BURT’S BEES-Daily Face Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin
Rate and review my routine.
For a bit of context, I have dry diabetic skin. My skin concerns include acne and acne post scars, fungal acne, redness, dark circles and severe dryness. I am also 30 years old and have previously been on Accutane in my teens. I typically do not use every product shown everyday as my skin concerns vary very broadly. The ones I do use on a regular basis, include Cerve Hydrating Cleanser, Aveeno Positively Mineral Sensitive Skin Suncreen SPF 50 and Cerave AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. Every other will marked with * and given days when I do use. AM Routine: I typically keep my routine in the morning very simple and quick. I first wash my face with Cerve Hydrating Cleanser, then use The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGEC*, The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA*, then finally using a mixed solution of Aveeno Postivitely Mineral Sunscreen and Cerve AM Facial Lotion. *I am currently using these products two to three times a week. For night, I am a bit more extensive. I first double cleanse with Gariner Micellar Cleansing Water** then proceed with Cerave Hydrating Cleanser. Typically after I do some sort of treatment depending on my skin. These include The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution*, Dermal Aloe Based Face Mask*, The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%*, Neutrogena Rapid Spot Treatment*. After any treatment, I follow up with Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion then with Cerave Diabetics' Dry Skin Relief. ** Only used when wearing makeup. * BHA/AHA Peeling Solution is used once every two weeks. *Dermal Face Mask used once a week. *Only used when breakouts occur. *Spot treatment used when breakout occurs.

Week 6 of Tretinoin + Progress
Looking back on my progress (Before and after) This is the end of my sixth week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so they have been prescribed by a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. I have normal, but dehydrated skin. I’m looking to add more in as I adjust to treatment. My routine is as follows: AM HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 (I use his to reapply SPF every 2 hours) PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule 40ml HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Apostrophe Tretinoin Formula CeraVe - Healing Ointment I can see my purging period slowly coming to a close. Whereas I got about (if we’re counting) 4 new bumps per day, I now get about 1 a day. And these ones disappear relatively quickly, so within 2 days max. The purging period is definitely the hardest because your skin is literally at its worst. All the congestion is coming to the surface. It’s really hard to lose sight of the progress you’ve made and feel like Tretinoin isn’t working so that’s why taking photos is important. So, I’ve chosen to show my progress from July 17 to today, September 3rd. This really gives me a glimmer of hope, as I was feeling pretty down while purging. Compared to others my progress is slow, because I slowly worked up to daily usage of Tretinoin. And every individual has a different experience with the purging period. For some it may last only 2 weeks or a month, and for others it may last 3-4 months. There’s no telling by looking at only other’s individual experiences how your experience will go. I really want to combat the hyperpigmentation left over from before and during the purging period (PIE and PIH). So once I’m sure my inflammatory acne is completely gone, I want to consider adding in another product to increase the speed at which my marks fade.
COSRX-Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
Hi! After over a year of my skin thriving, it started to struggle recently (I haven’t left the house in a while and probably haven’t been drinking enough water). I thought it might be because of my moisture barrier and after doing some research I got CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion to help repair it. I have super sensitive skin and a lot of products burn or cause me to break out but I heard CeraVe was great for sensitive skin. I’ve been using this product for a few days now and it burns my skin and causes redness and irritation every time I put it on. And I’ve gotten some little bumps on my face since starting it. Does anybody know why? It also doesn’t feel moisturizing even though my skin isn’t super dry to begin with. I want to learn more about my sensitive skin but I cannot seem to find a pattern in products that work and don’t. My main skin concerns are sensitivity, redness, and large pores. I’m hoping you guys can help and recommend products. Thanks in advance! Btw the third picture is from before I started this product (no face makeup on). Products that have worked: Aveeno - Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser Eucerin - Redness Relief, Dermatological Skincare, Night Creme (I’ve been using this for years but it started burning slightly the last couple week so I decided to try something else) FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum LA ROCHE-POSAY - Serozinc Face Mist Simple - Kind to Skin Micellar Cleasing Water (and every other micellar water I’ve tried, I use this to cleanse in the mornings instead of washing my face) Products that surprisingly didn’t work: Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser (this product burned my skin and dried me out more than the clear complexions one, causing my skin to flake for the first time ever) GARNIER - SkinActive The Gentle Sulfate-Free Cleanser (burned my skin but less than other products have) The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (broke out my skin really badly - I tried to wait it out to see if it was just purging but it didn’t get better. It didn’t burn though) elta md SKINCARE - UV Shield Full-Body Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 45 (works on my body but I saw reviews that said it works for sensitive faces too... but it made me break out on my face) belif - The True Cream Aqua Bomb (burned my skin) Simple - Kind to Skin Moisturizing Facial Wash (burned my skin a bit but didn’t cause breakout or excessive dryness)
Eucerin- Redness Relief, Dermatological Skincare, Night Creme
Week 5 of Tretinoin + BIG STORYTIME
The dreaded purging period! Sorry for the late post—this is my progress form last week—- This is the end of my fifth week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. Since last week, I have made some significant changes to my routine, for reasons to be told at the end of the post. - Glow Stick SPF 50 (I reapply with this spf every 2 hours) PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule 40ml (for added hydration!) HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Apostrophe formula (using this after moisturizer so I can have a buffer between the tret and my skin) CeraVe - Healing Ointment The purging period, yeah that’s still happening 😩 Ok, so I was previously using the Aveeno spf. The white cast on this was horrendous, so I have been finding myself harshly rubbing the sunscreen in to get rid of the cast. And since I would reapply every two hours, I’d repeat this process frequently throughout the day. After a while, the consequences of harshly rubbing my face became obvious. For the past two weeks, my skin was ultra sensitive. My face stung while touching it. The Cerave hydrating cleanser and Cerave moisturizer for normal to dry skin would BURN. However, none of the other products I used burned. So, I ditched the Aveeno SPF, thanks to a very helpful commenter, and bought the Purito Centella Unscented Sunscreen and... white cast begone! I love to use the Supergoop glow stick to reapply because it leaves my face with a fresh glow. I no longer needed to rub my face so harshly. Yet only the Cerave cleanser and moisturizer still continued to sting. So, I switched my cleanser and moisturizer to Honest Beauty. I have used these products in the past, and loved them. I’ve never had a problem. So I used them, and no sting! I still have no idea why the Cerave cleanser and moisturizer continues to sting now. But for now, I’m halting use.

Thoughts on Morning Skincare Routine?
Hey everyone! I’m so impressed with the Cherie community and how much I’ve learned from others on this site already that I thought I would share my morning skincare routine! For context: I am a 24 year old who in the past year has struggled with moderate adult acne (only along the chin/jawline). In the past few months I have become very passionate about skincare and finding a skincare routine that works for me! Please leave any comments below if you have suggestions for me to add/replace in my routine! I am still somewhat new to the skincare community so any and all suggestions and comments are welcome!!☺️ First I cleanse with CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser while I am in the shower and I leave this cleanser on for about 2 minutes before washing it off. I love benzoyl peroxide because I found it is one of the only ingredients to be effective in fighting acne (salicylic acid didn’t do the trick😭). Second I follow with The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution for my daily exfoliation. I know it’s controversial to use glycolic acid in the morning but I’ve had a lot of people tell me it’s okay to do as long as you are following it up with a good moisturizer and sunscreen! I have some acne scarring (just redness) along my chin and jawline and I have found overtime this product has worked wonders to diminish those scars! Third I use 1% clindamycin which was prescribed by the doctor for my acne and it has been absolutely amazing combined with the benzoyl peroxide! Fourth I apply NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% I love this formulation and I use it mainly to help with the acne scarring that has occurred. Although it can be a little sticky, it gives your face a really nice glow that I just love. Fifth I apply NATURIUM - Vitamin C Super Serum Plus this product contains a cocktail of fabulous ingredients, and I find that the combination of this with the Niacinimide has just strengthened my skin. Sixth I apply one of my favorite products ever CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin This product has been a life savior as it is non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and so hydrating! Truly an incredible product! Finally I apply elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I absolutely love this sunscreen because it’s formulated by dermatologists specifically for people with sensitive or acne proned skin. I absolutely love that it comes in a tinted version so it doesn’t leave a white cast, and it’s a great base for makeup! My one complaint is that it is a bit expensive for a small bottle. However, if you’re willing to pay the money it’s definitely worth it! That’s my routine! Please comment and let me know what you think/suggestions you have:)

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
