Graydon Pt 2: Face mist I didn’t know I needed!

The Product: Face Food Mineral Mist “It gives your skin an instant glow-up by locking in moisture and creating a weightless protective barrier against environmental pollution.” This is another one of the products that donates $1 to Plastic Oceans with every purchase to clean up shorelines. It also comes in a 240mL refill size without the plastic pump! As with Graydon’s other products, this mist is clean, vegan, cruelty free, hypoallergenic, and safe for sensitive skin! I originally purchased the three-piece holiday set because I wanted to buy the Fullmoon Serum, but I also wanted to try the Face Food Mineral Mist, and it was just more cost effective to get the set! The brand notes that this mist can be used as a: toner, essence, after serum/moisturizer to help boost the absorption of actives, as a makeup finishing spray, or as a skin refresher! I don’t wear makeup, so I can’t speak to that use, but I have used it for almost every other purpose. My favorite use is applying it between serums or between a serum and my moisturizer. My skin likes to dry out quickly and sometimes it is hard to get products to absorb properly. When I first started layering products I had issues with pilling all the time. Adding in this misting step has helped with absorption tremendously! Additionally I love the gentle vanilla scent, and the anti pollution benefits. I live in a big city AND wear a mask all the time, my face can use all the protection it can get! This is quite pricey and I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for cheaper dupes? Because I don’t know of any dupes at the moment, I’m giving it full stars despite the price! GRAYDON - Face Food Mineral Mist

Graydon Skincare Pt 3: A surprise hit and a miss
The Product: Berry Rich Face + Eye Cream Plus the free samples that came with my order From the brand: “A probiotic face cream. This velvety-rich, blue-hued probiotic face cream helps maintain and protect your microbiome (aka your skin barrier) while improving hydration, enhancing your skin’s radiance and luminosity.” They say this cream is intended for dry and mature skin. My skin is dry-combo but acne prone so I was a little wary of this product. It came in the set however, and i figured I could use it on dry patches or even on my body if worse came to worst. BOY WAS I SURPRISED. I started off testing it on some dry itchy skin around my nose. When that went well, i took the plunge and put it on my jawline to wear under a mask. At this point, I was JUST starting to realize that the cure to my maskne might actually be to stop attacking it with acids and use MORE moisture and HEAVIER creams, especially under the mask. It seemed so counterintuitive at the time but I was willing to try... and it freaking worked! This is absolutely my favorite occlusive ever. I no longer dread wearing a mask because it means i can slather this over my face first 😍. I also tested it out as a skin protectant while skiing, and it preformed A+ as a wind barrier. It has the most delicious scent that reminds me of berry buttercream icing or something. It smells edible thats for sure! most surprising maskne cure for me, absolutely recommend for the dry acne-prone, and shocked to say I will have to repurchase soon 😱 GRAYDON - Berry Rich Cream Ingredient Highlights: * Arthrospira Platensis (Blue Majik) Extract: blue-green algae rich in phycocyanin, amino acids, vitamins & minerals. Helps increase firmness and smooth fine lines * Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter: heals and moisturizes skin exposed to the elements * Vaccinium Corymbosum (Blueberry) Seed Oil: rich in vitamin C to brighten skin, minimize dark spots, & promote circulation to lighten dark circles * Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate (Vegan Probiotics): improve and strengthen skin barrier, maintain balance of good bacteria which send signals to your immune system to stop inflammation, keeping acne and rosacea at bay Samples: GRAYDON - Aloe Milk Cleanser This was a very nice gentle cleanser, but it didn’t feel any different than other, much cheaper, creamy cleansers. GRAYDON - Super Sensitive Skin Stuff Also a very nice gentle ceramide cream, but just not worth the price when so many drugstore creams contain ceramides (eg all Cerave products) GRAYDON - Green Cream This one I was really excited about and wanted to love. It contains TWO botanical retinol alternatives: moth bean extract (which I love so much in the Fullmoon Serum) and bakuchiol. Idk what it was, but I just didn’t like the smell... it smelled... bitter? to me, that’s the best way I can describe it. I also noticed some product pilling, but mostly the smell turned me off.

Graydon: Retinol alternative from the gods!!!!!
Graydon [plant powered skincare] “what skin dreams are made of...” Graydon is a brand out of Canada that produces clean skincare with a focus on superfoods and active ingredients. They are cruelty-free and leaping bunny certified. All products are gluten free, reef safe, and all except Putty are vegan. They source their ingredients from small local farmers as much as possible and are committed to sustainability, partnering with Plastic Oceans to remove plastic from shorelines! My first Graydon purchase was their holiday set, & I have so much to say that I have to split this 3 into posts! The product: Fullmoon Serum I needed to add a retinol to my routine, but how? I have very sensitive skin and had a bad reaction to Differin in the past. I decided I wanted to start REALLY slow. I was originally looking into bakuchiol when I came across the Fullmoon serum. This serum is actually another botanical retinol alternative called moth bean extract that’s even more gentle than bakuchiol! I am OBSESSED with this serum. I love how easily it absorbs into my skin. I also love the smell! As a sensitive skin person I stay away from fragrance of any kind and it feels so luxurious to use something with such a pleasant and gentle natural scent. The scent is a light floral with a hint of herbiness and almost sweet smelling. I also love the great things it is doing for my face! For me it has been strong enough to smooth out my skin and clear up my acne! This isn’t just a retinol alternative, it is really a do it all serum. I already finished the travel size and bought the full size. This serum is pricey, but absolutely worth it! My holy grail! GRAYDON - Fullmoon Serum Ingredient Highlights: * Moringa: contains amino acids, minerals, antioxidants, and vitamin C! It is anti-pollution, preventing the adhesion of particles to the skin, providing a protective shield * Malachite: A healing gemstone that detoxes skin, is antioxidant, and contains copper to increase collagen production * Hyaluronic Acid: everyone’s favorite for hydration * Moth Bean extract: more gentle than regular retinol but just as effective, it helps boost cell renewal. It also contains phenolic compounds like ferulic acid which protect against UV damage * Collagen: derived from African Mahogany Bark Extract * Peptides: oligopeptides from Hibiscus Esculentus Extract * Blue Tansy: the blue oil everyone loves in Herbivore’s Lapis and Sunday Riley’s Luna. This is useful for soothing skin and combatting allergies * Aromatic Fruit Extracts: plant ingredients soaked in water for a long time to infuse their aromas and medicinal properties. They have similar benefits to essential oils, but are very gentle and don’t post the risk of sensitivities! Let me know if you’ve tried it!! I’m obsessed. Just take my money 💰

Top 2020 Toners 🌬
I love a good toner, that either helps the skin absorb the following skincare steps in a routine, or has an active that gently exfoliates the skin. 1. For general hydration 💦 my go-to has been GRAYDON - Face Food Mineral Mist , containing inflammatory-reducing ingredients, like silver, magnesium, zinc, copper, with a slight vanilla scent. At night, I use it after cleansing, before applying hyaluronic acid and oil serums. In the morning, I don’t cleanse my face, I refresh my skin and wake myself up with this instead, before applying on a moisturizer. 2. An exfoliating toner 🧹 I was using a lot at the beginning of the year is @sahajanskincare’s sahajan - Balance Toner . It’s an Ayurvedic blend, containing moringa oil, rose water, fruit extracts and salicylic acid, so it’s gentle on the skin while smoothing out texture, overtime (which is why I use it less often now). After direct use, the skin feels soft rather than tight. I remember being amazed at how quickly it was able to reduce incoming blemishes and recent dark spots. Both of these toners also claim to protect the skin from pollution, but more on that later. Are you more of a hydrating or exfoliating toner type of person? Top 2020 Serums 💦
It felt like the year of serums, I usually use a hydrating serum then an oil to lock in the moisture. Here are the ones I really enjoyed ✨ GRAYDON - Fullmoon Serum 💦 (#giftedPR; discount code 15VALCHEMIC) - my multitasking serum: a retinol alternative (moth bean), vegan HA (senna), vitamin C (moringa) - correct & protect type: reduces fine lines + the appearance of breakouts/scars; keeps the skin hydrated - beautiful cyan colour from soothing blue tansy + anti-pollution malachite When it comes to HA serums, I usually prefer them more plump, but this won me over. PUUR Ingrid - Repair Booster 🩹 Disclaimer: I’m not high maintenance when it comes to skincare oils, unless I need one with a specialized function. I could really get by with jojoba alone (shout out skincare minimalism), but I’m quite impressed with this one! - my favourite daily oil - contains collagen-boosting squalane, antioxidant Berkemyol green tea + pine bark + other oils like grape seed, rose hip seed, apricot kernel - pleasant scent, reminiscent of baby oil It does contain some essential oils, like lavender, rose geranium & ylang ylang. Fortunately, they don’t overdo it on the two aforementioned EOs, and personally I love ylang ylang, so I’m content. Note: I usually don’t use these at the same time. How do you feel about oils? Do you notice a huge difference between most of them? Or are you happy with most of them?

If you have combo or oily skin
If you have combo or oily skin, like me, then texture is very important to you. And texture is the one of the biggest things I look for when shopping for day creams- something that moisturizes and actually makes your skin feel smooth and supple, and not feeling tacky or sticky throughout the day. Most importantly I want my moisturizer to keep my oils at bay throughout the day without risking looking too shiny before getting home. This day cream does exactly that for me. The formula is mattifying and cooling so its great for oily skin! I compare the texture to frosting- think of a matte fondant cake looking all smooth and NOT shiny. And while its a mattifying and not overly creamy it does an excellent job at making my skin feel moisturized- not tight like some drying anti-acne moisturizers do. With fermented black tea and blueberry extracts, it also helps combat first signs of aging- a definite plus for me. For better results, I use its serum underneath- which completes the entire moisturizing, hydrating, anti-aging experience for me 😇

Today I’m talking to you about
Today I’m talking to you about this gem, the organica 100% Organic Rosehip Seed Oil 💜This guy here is packed with essential minerals like Vitamin A, C and E, which are antioxidants and will work to protect your skin from free radicals and environmental toxins. Its high levels of Vitamin C aid in collagen production that can help with rejuvenating and lifting aged and damaged skin. This guy is supposed to fight acne and oxidisation by soothing sensitive or blemished skin. 💜 Now, I love me some oils, whether for the hair, face or body, and I was really pleased with this one. I’ve used it both at night and during the day, with great results both times. 💜 When I use it at night, only a few drops are necessary, and I wake up the new morning absolutely GLOWING and still felt super hydrated and moisturizer. 💜 I’ve used this during the day both with and without a moisturizer. This oil claims to have no greasy finish, but I’ll go ahead and disagree. That being said, I’ll disagree with any facial oil than claims to have no greasy finish. THAT being said, any greasy finish that I ever experience with a facial oil, always goes away once I really have spent enough time massaging the oil in. I think this pairs well with moisturizer, but if you use this in conjunction with a moisturizer, I suggest using very little, as this is a heavier oil in my opinion. Used on its own, this makes for a wonderful moisturizer and gives me a lovely, dewy glow. I’m so glad that this is in my arsenal now! It’s definitely going to be a staple for me going forward.

Skincare for redness
Skincare for redness
I got this awhile back and as you can see it’s already empty. The azulene serum is calming and one of the benefits is that it helps with redness. I struggle with redness and this helped so much with that . It’s consistency is more water like without being sticky . I like this stuff a lot and I would definitely recommend if you struggle with redness. The product is definitely worth it for me . Bellflower - Coconut Hydrating Serum 50ml I had to tag the coconut one since azulene isn’t on here but they are both great . #skincareforredness #skincare #serum

Coconut Hydrating Serum 50ml

The Joanna Vargas Daily Hydrat
The Joanna Vargas Daily Hydrating Cream has become my go-to day moisturizer. I really love this cream! It has a fluffy, whipped texture and feels very lightweight on the skin, yet it gives my dehydrated skin a good amount of hydration while giving a lovely matte finish. I have other creams that are similarly light and moisturizing, but tend to leave me shiny (which when combined with sunscreen and a dewy BB cream can just be too much). The ingredient list has a lot of great anti-aging inclusions such as a stable form of vitamin C, vitamin E, CoQ10, gluconolactone (a PHA), and some botanical emollients like cocoa butter, Shea butter, jojoba oil. These natural butters and oils are probably why my thirsty skin loves this cream so much (but be aware cocoa butter isn't the best for acne-prone skin). This does also contain retinyl palmitate which can make you more photosensitive, so be sure to wear sunscreen. I think this cream is PERFECT for my combination skin. It gives me enough moisture without leaving me an oil slick and has a beautiful texture.

the first thing we do is switc
the first thing we do is switch out our rich moisturizers for light weight gel creams. We also stop using facial oils, thanks to skin that is already oily and shiny. Your skin needs a right balance of oil and water and adding a facial oil to your routine with other hydrating products will quickly stop your skin from producing more oil. Important here is to find the right kind of facial oil. What if I told you there is one formulated for oily, congested skin types specially for use during summer and one that miraculously works for us with dry skin too I've been thoroughly enjoying this ultra light facial oil by 5yina in my morning and evening routines. Featuring Camellia seed oil and Grapeseed oil, this is infused with chinese medicinal plant extracts that are rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and active phytonutrients to help minimize appearance of pores, re-balance sebum production, reduce inflammation, and prevent breakouts. Some key extracts include American Ginseng, Tremella Mushroom, Licorice root, Angelica root, Lotus leaf and Green tea It has a beautiful golden color, an earthy herbaceous scent and a texture that appears to be rich when you see it in the dropper but on application it works like a dry oil. Your skin does not look like you have used an oil at all, it leaves your skin dewy, glowy and moisturized giving it the perfectly balanced look. Since my skin is dry, I am generous and use 4-6 drops layered over hydrating products. If your skin is oily/combination 2-3 drops will be enough.

Organation has a quiz that you
Organation has a quiz that you take that helps them blend a cream together for you personally not one that is made for everyone else that may not work for your specific needs. They ask your skin type, sensitivity level, age group, environment (specifically if you live in an urban environment where city pollution may be damaging your skin), whether you smoke, if you have allergies, and your skin challenges from a pre-determined list. It even goes a step further by asking you to choose 1-2 preselected ingredient for each of your skin concerns such as rosehip oil for hyperpigmentation, seaweed extract for hydration, etc. What you end up with is your own personal cream (they even personalize the label as you can see). I have been using mine for the last week and have to say I am liking what I am seeing. Especially with my redness which has always been the one thing about my skin I hate the most. I really hope it gets to a point where I don’t feel like I have to wear foundation or CC cream on my face every time I want to go somewhere. While the cream is a bit pricy at $50, I figure if it replaces 3 different creams because I can get the same results with one then I am already saving money. Lastly, their products are free of gluten, GMOs, parabens, phthalates, parables, sulfates, petrochemicals and synthetic fragrances as well as vegan and cruelty-free.
