Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 4
Hey ya’ll! In part 4 of Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines we’re reviewing @Raks and @juliachristine’s skincare routines. Starting with @Rakswho reached out to me via Cherie message because she started skincare about a year ago because of her upcoming wedding. She starts by cleansing with theThursday Plantation - Tea Tree Face Wash Foam which costs $8.99 for 5.1 fl oz. This cleanser is very basic. It has tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil. My issue is with the eucalyptus oil, which is a very irritating essential oil right up there with lemon oil and peppermint oil. If this doesn’t irritate your skin then it’s a great cleanser, but I can’t recommend it to those with sensitive skin. Then she goes in with 4 serums. First is thepura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum which costs $14.99 for 4 fl oz. This is a really good serum. It has aloe vera juice, glycerin, jojoba oil, and argan oil which are hydrating ingredients, and then it has hylaronic acid, retinol, and Vitamin C. I love it! Then she uses#The Ordinary - Nicinamide Serum[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $5.90 for 1 fl oz. We’ve talked a lot about this serum, it’s very good. Next is the#Tree Of Life - Hylaronic acid serum[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $10.95 for 1 fl oz. I don’t like this serum. It started off good with hylaronic acid, aloe vera juice, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, but it contains way too many Essential oils and irritating extracts. And her final serum is theSkinMedica - LYTERA 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum which costs $130.90 for 2 fl oz, which is very expensive. This is not worth the price. It has nicinamide and glycerin, and then some not very researched acids. I don’t recommend continuing use of this serum. Then to moisturize she goes in with theOLAY - Regenerist Regenerating Day Cream which costs $29.99 for 1.7 fl oz. I don’t like this moisturizer. Let’s start with some positives. It has nicinamide, glycerin, and Vitamin B3. Now it has a lot of bad ingredients also. It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is a harsh cleansing agent, as well as fragrance being the 6th ingredient. The she uses a Neutrogena sunscreen, and occasionally usesThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which costs $7.20 for 1 fl oz. This is a great exfoliant. I think @Raks is using too many serums. I would stick to only the Pura D’or and The Ordinary serum, and ditch the other two. Keep the cleanser, and maybe try a different moisturizer. You asked for mineral sunscreen reccomendations for dark skin tones that don’t have a white cast, so I got you girl! I have light skin, but I did some research and I’d recommend the#First Aid Beauty - Weightless Mineral SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $34 for 1.5 fl oz, and the #Biossance - Squalane Zinc Sheer SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $30 for 1.7 fl oz. Both of these have minimal white cast, and Skincare by Hyram recommends them. Next is @juliachristine’s night routine. She starts off by cleansing with the #Vanicream - Unscented Gentle Cleanser[products]#[ThreeStars] witch costs $8.99 for 8 fl oz. This a nice basic cleanser with glycerin. Next she uses the#OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $84 for .7 fl oz. This cream has tretinoin which is a Vitamin A derivative which can treat acne, as well as retinol which also Vitamin A. I don’t think it’s worth the price, but it’s okay. Next she uses the #The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%[products]#[FourStars] which costs $7.99 for 1 fl oz. Along with azelaic acid, it has dimethicone which is a great moisturizer for dry skin. Next she uses theCeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which costs $17.99 for 15 fl oz. Y’all know I love this product! Finally she finishes off with theVERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream witch costs $17.99 for .5 fl oz. Eye cream is definitely not necessary but this one is great! It has glycerin, algae extract, and olive oil which are hydrating, along with shea butter and a blend of peptides which can help firm the skin and increase collagen production which can help reduce fine lines around the eyes. Overall @juliachristine your routine looks great! That’s it for this post please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment your opinions on these products, and follow me for similar content. Upcoming posts include a 1 month Curology review and unnecessary skincare steps you don’t need. -Mae
Suggestions help?? 🥲
I’m still having trouble with my acne, at first it was clearing up then all of sudden it keeps getting worse, any recommendations will help ! 😣 Cetaphil - Cetaphil Gentle Foaming Cleanser epielle - Black Charcoal Peel-Off Mask The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Sometimes I would use .. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% but if I don’t I would skip it and use .. The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%

Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 1
Hey y’all! In today’s post I’ll be reviewing my followers skincare routines! I went through some of y’all’s accounts in search of some routines, then messaged everyone to make sure they were okay with me using their routines in this post! This is only pt. 1 because this post got wayyy to long to include everyone at once! Let me start by saying I’m not an esthetician or dermatologist, nor have I ever claimed to be. I am just a fellow skincare lover who knows a lot about ingredients in skincare. We’re starting off with @Chloe_McRae. Sometimes she decides to double cleanse, and when she does she starts with the#Holifrog - Kissimmee Vitamin F Therapy Balmy Wash[products]#[FourStars] which is $42 for 2.5 fl oz. This has a ton of great hydrating oils, as well as Vitamin F, which is great for helping cell turnover. I would say it’s a great first cleanse for those with dry skin. Next she uses theDRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample which is $32. I would say this is a good cleanser. The cleansing agents are gentle and non stripping, and it also has glycerin which is hydrating, and cantaloupe fruit extract which is a hydrating extract full of antioxidants. Other than that, this is a pretty basic cleanser. Next she uses the HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial l which is $58. Because the name is confusing, it’s a gel face mask. This stuff looks gorgeous and the ingredients are too. Along with AHA and BHA, it has aloe and rose water which help your skin to retain moisture. I don’t think it’s worth $58, but it’s pretty good. Next is the PEACH & LILY - Wild Dew Treatment Essence which is $39 for 3.38 fl oz. This essence has glycerin, Nicinamide, and Hylaronic acid. For $39 I expected a lot more. In general, essence is less effective than a serum, so this seems a little expensive for what you get. Then comes theDRUNK ELEPHANT - Sweet Biome Fermented Sake Hydrating Spray which is $42. Yes, $42 for a face mist. Now looking at the ingredients this has glycerin and a small amount of Hylaronic acid. The rest of the ingredients are extracts. Thankfully there isn’t fragrance, but this is a no because it’s so expensive. And finally is the COSRX - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid which is $24. Really this has some Willow water and Nicinamide and that’s it. Okay I freaked out at this point. Nowhere in this routine is sunscreen or moisturizer!!! Nooooo!! We need less acids and more of the basics. Overall I’d say this routine has too many steps. I think you could simplify down to a double cleanse, a cheap but good serum with Hylaronic acid and Nicinamide which seem to be the ingredients that work well for your skin, and the a moisturizer and some spf. Our next routine comes from @WillWorkforMascara. She starts her routine with theCeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin w is $17. This product is great for oily skin, which she has. It has glycerin, nicinamide, and Hylaronic acid so it’s super hydrating. Next she usesThe Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution witch is $8.70. Along with glycolic acid, it has aloe vera water and glycerin. Some people think it’s overly stripping, but for oily skin its great. Now this is where this routine becomes international. She goes in with theMUJI - Boosting Essence Lotion which is $7 for 50 ml. This essence has aloe vera juice and glycerin. It does have quite a bit of fragrance though which makes it a no from me. Next she goes in with the#Pearlessence - Argan Oil + Vitamin E facial oil[products]#[ThreeStars] which is $11.89 for 1.83 fl oz. This product has two ingredients. Vitamin E and Argan oil. Now this is where we really go international. #Human Nature - Sunflower Eye Cream[products]#[TwoStars] and found out that 295 Cuban Peso is $12.29. Now as for the ingredients this eye cream has sunflower oil and glycerin. And fragrance. Fragrance can especially be irritating around the eye area so this is another no. Instead try some thing likeTHE inkey LIST - Caffeine Eye Cream She also uses a eyebrow and eyelash oil called Peach Thy Lash which is 150 Cuban Peso or $6.25. I don’t know anything about this kind of product so I can’t really say if it works. And finally is theLANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask which is $22. This mask has Vitamin C, Hylaronic acid, and glycerin. It seems good to me, but this sort of product is more about the experience, and I haven’t tried it. Again! We need moisturizer and sunscreen! This one also has too many steps so let’s simplify it to cleanser, toner, moisturizer, sunscreen, eyelash oil, and lip mask. Unfortunately this post would be super long if I included everyone, so look out for pt. 2 coming soon! Please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment below your holy grail skincare products, and follow me to join the family and for similar content! -Mae
How many masks are too many...?
I used to love masking! I’d do at least 1 to 2 a week. Now I’ve gotten lazy and just don’t do them and I have so many I need to start using before they expire! For me, I feel having an exfoliating mask and a hydrating mask is all you need. Unless your using the product consistently you’re not going to see changes. Masks are great for plumping up the skin, adding hydration and even a soft glow. But of all the masks I’ve used I’ve never found long term effects from them (except exfoliating). One way I like to use them is right before a big night (or day) out. To give my skin that added boost. Some that are great for doing so are: FARMACY - Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask (use as a 10 min mask) SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask And many others that help brighten and hydrate! I will also not go without my exfoliating masks which I do once a week. Some faves are: PAULA'S CHOICE - 25% AHA + 2% BHA Exfoliant Peel YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial And a few others I have that I liked to use; BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Detox Mask ELEMIS - Superfood Vital Veggie Mask bliss - Mighty Marshmallow Mask Unfortunately as I said, I just don’t mask as often as I used to. And I feel it isn’t necessary. If you like to then I suggest you get yourself an exfoliating and moisturizing/hydrating mask and you should be good to go. Treatments are where you want to really zone in and specialize your finances for. Is it Friday yet? Ugh! I’ve been down all week with a neck I cannot turn - ouchie! And a migraine on top of that! I’m ready to knock my dogs out cause they are wanting out every half hour (it’s nice here ⛅️) Much ❤️ my skinnies 🍒
It took me long enough to appreciate the beauty of this exfoliating acid from Deciem . I stopped using it during those months that my skin is at its worst because it stings like hell. It was an impulse buy without even researching about it. . 🍇 So when my skin got a little better which is only recently. I started using this again and was surprised that it no longer stings. It has an after-use glow effect and smoothens my skin. As per the lightening effect, I didn't see much effect JUST YET because I only use it once a week alternately with my other exfoliants. I am thrilled to really see what more it can do. . 🍇 Important Note : This acid is highly concentrated and not for everyone especially with extra sensitive skin. Do not use it if you have active break outs or suffering from severe acne. Do not leave it for more than 10 minutes or it might burn your skin. . Are you also planning to try this? I suggest you do 😉
The Ordinary-AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
This ALMOST lives up to the hype
If you watch TikTok, you’ve probably seen this. And I think it ALMOST lives up the hype. But like a lot of other people have said, you need to be careful when you use this. The good: - I do feel like my skin almost instantly looks smoother and brighter after I take it off and the morning after I use it I definitely feel like my skin has a glow. - I have noticed my acne scars have started to fade (after 6 uses). It’s definitely not a one and done though. - I feel like my texture and pores do look significantly better after using this. - I love how it washes off so easily! Some masks require you to be a bit tougher with your skin, but this will wash right off with some water. - I have never experienced any peeling / dryness. The bad: - It stings. I hate to say it but it’s true. It stings the moment I put this on and I don’t have sensitive skin. How I use it: I make sure to use this at most biweekly and I never leave it on for more than 10 mins. Is it worth it? I think it’s worth giving it a shot! It’s not too expensive and I do think the results are really nice. I’ve used it 6 times and it still looks like I have a full bottle, so I do think you get bang for your buck. Just patch test first!! Will I repurchase? Honestly, I’m not sure. I had to essentially smuggle this one into Canada since they don’t sell this product here. I’ll have to see after I’m done the full bottle (I’ve been using it for the last two months so far). Ps I have combination, acne prone skin :)

Finally tried this hyped up peeling solution
This has been a mask that has been so hyped that I had to purchase it and try it for myself. I received this in the mail about a month ago and I wanted to give it a really good try before giving my thoughts. I was so excited to get the peeling solution in and then when I did receive it I will admit I was a little timid because of all the burning sensation talk. The day I decided to use this I cleansed my face and then used a super mild toner to make sure all residue was removed. I did not use and would not recommend using any kind of face scrub or exfoliating product the day of using the peeling solution. I am 45, combo skin, some fine lines, pores and a little texture. I opened the solution and the smell is not appealing but it’s not horrible. I proceeded to apply and it was not bad at all and I kind of quickly put it on as 10 min is suggested time and I wanted to get the full 10 min everywhere on my face. Not long after the this is not all that bad came a tingle, it did get stronger and it did sting. I would not say it burned but I also don’t have sensitive skin. I would definitely say if you have sensitive skin go light and cut time in half. I could definitely see it being more of a burn with sensitive skin. I have used the mask 5 times now and I am loving it more and more each time. I have noticed shrinking of pores and a smoother complexion. I use this at night as I use a heavier moisturizer at nighttime verses daytime. I do suggest a good heavy moisturizer after use. Don’t go past the 10 min mark. 10 min is plenty of time for this mask to work it’s magic. Make sure to not be in direct sunlight after use and wear sunscreen. I am now ready to purchase another bottle and more from TO The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
The Ordinary-AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
This does everything it claims!
🌟 The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 🌟 . What is it? A ten minute exfoliating facial. This combination of AHAs and BHAs work to clear pores of congestion and improve skin texture while reducing the appearance of fine lines. . Does it work? This is actually a really good at home facial, I’m surprised we can even purchase this in the uk given it’s strength, but anyway, This peeling solution does everything it claims! . It’s consistency is a red liquid thats messy to apply and will tingle while on your skin. If you get this, follow the directions to the letter! The high concentration of acids will make your skin sun sensitive so best used at night, always wear sun screen, patch test, avoid eyes and don’t apply over broken skin. If you have sensitive skin I’d maybe give this a miss and over exfoliating can damage the skin barrier! £6.25 (30ml) . Rating- 🌟🌟🌟🌟
The Ordinary-AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution has gained so much hype the past couple of months. I caved in an decided to buy it. This product is $7.20 and totally worth it! - This is a 10 minute exfoliating facial that uses a combination of alpha hydroxy acid and beta hydroxy acid to help with the look of blemishes and smooths the look of skin texture. Glycolic acid and lactic acid is going to exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, while salicylic acid is going to exfoliate deep inside the pores to reduce congestion. - This product is going to work for all skin types and people who are struggling with blemishes, fine lines, wrinkles dullness and uneven skin texture. - I have used this product 3 times. The first time I used it I left it on for 6 minutes because I don’t usual use too many strong acids like this. When it was on my skin it didn’t burn or tingle like people said so I didn’t know if it was even working. Then after I washed it off my skin felt so soft and had a natural glow. The second and third time using it I left it on for 10 minutes and it still didn’t burn or tingle so maybe my skin just isn’t very sensitive. After using it my skin once again felt very soft and I’m starting to notice less and less blackheads on my nose. I truly believe in this product and recommend it. - Please be very cautious while using this product. This is pure acid that you are putting on your skin. Make sure you aren’t using it more then once and week and for only 10 minutes. If using this in the morning USE SPF and hydrate your skin. If using this at night make sure to really hydrate your skin and to not use any other strong acids with this product. If you don’t use this product properly you can then get chemical burns and more. Always do your OWN RESEARCH before using this product.
