Just a girl trying to figure out her skin!
So sad about this one💔
I’m usually a physical sunscreen girl. But the marketing and ingredients on this one made me so intrigued I had to try it out. And at first, I LOVED the way this laid on my skin. It made it so moisturizing and plump I thought this was going to be my new favorite sunscreen. Fast forward a few days later I noticed my neck was getting red and itchy... I thought it might have been due to some of the fragrance in another product I was using although I had been using it for a while. I kept applying and reapplying this sunscreen throughout the day until I noticed my ears started feeling the same red/itchy/burning sensation... (I always apply sunscreen to my ears). And then, the sensation started forming all over my face... an itchy, patchy, burning mess. I read up on how chemical sunscreens can cause these effects and I believe that’s what happened in my case. If you have sensitive skin, be aware of this one. (And by all means this review is a reflection of MY personal experience, so if you don’t have sensitive skin, feel free to give it a shot). Now I’m back at square one looking for a moisturizing physical sunscreen that doesn’t leave a white cast and doesn’t pill... please drop any suggestions ❤️😭
PETER THOMAS ROTH-Water Drench Hyaluronic Hydrating Moisturizer SPF 45
Let me provide some context about my skin care journey: This past August, my Tik Tok algorithm brought me to the world of skin care. Without ANY prior knowledge, I decided to throw my skin into the hands of skin care influencers (and when I say throw, I mean THROW...HARD). I had mediocre skin, and mainly suffered from comedonal acne but not much active, cystic acne. I went hard with SA, adapalene, and HARSH chemical exfoliants, ultimately destroying my skin barrier and causing a major purge... my skin had never looked so bad in my entire LIFE. Fast forward to October, I decided to start Curology. Originally, my formula consisted of 2% Azelaic Acid, 1% Clindamycin, and 0.25% Zinc Pyrithione. I simplified my routine, and focused heavily on restoring my skin barrier with nutrient rich moisturizers. After about 3 weeks, I decided to reach out to my Curology provider and requested that I start Tretinoin... I felt like my formula at the time just wasn’t worth the price and I wanted the full Curology experience if I was going to be paying $20 a month. My new formula consists of 0.01% Tret, 4% Azelaic Acid, & 1% Clindamycin. Left picture is back when I started Curology with my og forumale (Oct. 19th) and the right picture is now (entering my 3rd week of Tret). Slow but efficient progress. My biggest mistake with skin care has been being impatient, and going hard with harsh products when I didn’t see results right away. Everyone’s skin is different, skin care is NOT linear and I’m slowly learning more and more about my skin. Don’t give up!!! Find what works for you😊 My routine now is as follows: AM: 🧼Splash of water to “wash” my face 🧼LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo (+) so far LOVING this as a spot treatment... only giving it 4/5 because it’s too soon to see results, but I love the texture and how easy it absorbs into my skin (not irritating/drying at all) 🧼Elta MD UV Restore Broad Spectrum SPF 40 5/5 stars... LOVE this new sunscreen and I mix this with Australian Gold - Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50 for some tint since mine is too dark for me PM: 🧼LANEIGE - Cream Skin Milk Oil Cleanser I use this as a first cleanse and I love that its fragrence free but I wouldn’t use it if I had a full face of makeup + it kinda leaves a residue 🧼VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser this is amazing... simple, to the point, overall gr8 cleanser 🧼Aveeno - Calm + Restore Triple Oat Serum I use this to buff my tret and so far I’ve had no irritation 😊 🧼 FINAL STEP: I mix my LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer with my Curology - Curology formula and I’m ready for bed 🛌

The product that completely F*CKED my skin😭
The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This product completely RUINED my skin. To be fair, I was using Differin Adapalene at the time and I thought my skin was just purging. HOWEVER, I gave this product a second try after I felt like my skin was slowly subsiding from it’s initial purge and then BOOM... my skin freaked tf out again (seen in the last pic😭). I read a few stories about how this product may not be suitable for poc and boy did I feel it. Safe to say I will NOT be using this product on my face again. Maybe I’ll give it a try on the little bumps I get on my back, but this product is definitely too strong for my face. Please approach this with caution and if you’re just now incorporating chemical exfoliants, let your skin get used to lower percentages before whipping this bad boy out.

Quick lil skin update
Phew my skin has calmed down so much since the last time I posted 10 days ago. I cannot even explain how bad purging was for me. I realized I had so much gunk clogged in my pores it was insane! My skin is finally calming down and getting smoother. Not completely, still have hyperpigmentation and some small comedones but I feel like I’m finally over the worst part🤞🏽😅 My current skin care routine definitely feels less harsh than what I was using in the beginning and is as follows: AM Routine: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser Gentle on my skin in the morning, not stripping or drying but kinda pricey I feel like you could find a similar, cheaper option SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face OilJust started using this for the past week so I can’t tell if it’s doing anything yet but it’s fast absorbing AND it’s THD Ascorbate (as opposed to Ascorbic Acid) meaning it’s more stable, can be mixed with niacinamide and other higher pH ingredients AND has a longer shelf-life The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HAAlso just started using this so not sure if it’s doing anything CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin A+, love to death elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 Another ride or die🤞🏽 PM Routine: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil I’ve learned that I love cleansing OILS as opposed to balms but there are cheaper options out there ☺️ CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin Started using this again at night and so glad I did! It really feels like it’s cleaning and getting into my pores 🧼 (key: after washing my face for a minute I let the wash sit for another minute or 2 to let the SA really sink in) SKINCEUTICALS - Blemish + Age Defense MY HOLY GRAIL. Has really transformed my skin in the past 2 weeks, definitely recommend if you’ve got the budget cause this bad boy sits at $92 PURITO - Centella Green Level Calming Toner I apply this thick calming toner 15 minutes after letting my skinceuticals absorb in my skin and it’s so calming love it ACURE - Radically Rejuvenating Eye Cream Love this thick eye cream especially when I put it in my skin care fridge, not sure if it does more than moisturize though THE inkey LIST - Ceramide Night Treatment Nice consistency, not too heavy or light, but not sure if it does anything yet The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane 2 drops at night to seal everything in, has my skin waking up glowy and non irritated ✨
The Ordinary-100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane
The first two pictures are what my skin looks like now😭 the last two pictures were of my skin before I started using actives in my skin care. I know my skin wasn’t bad, but I had a lot of texture I wanted to get rid of and I decided to incorporate Differin and AHAs/BHAs in my skin care and then this happened! Please help. I stopped using differin for a few days because my skin was getting unbelievably bad and instead have been using the SKINCEUTICALS - Blemish + Age Defensein its place. I stopped using an SA cleanser and instead am using the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanserand it feels great on my skin, my skin isn’t dry at all after. I top my skin ceuticals off with THE inkey LIST - Ceramide Night Treatment and a drop of The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-SqualaneMaybe I was doing too much in the beginning by using Differin, an SA cleanser, and the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ?? The reason why I’m giving it one star is because this is the second time I’ve used it and both times my face broke out the next day! Maybe this is this just part of the purge but my skin has NEVER been this bad before😭 I’m trying to repair the texture damage this break out has caused and since switching to more gentle products my skin has calmed down a bit.

HOW TO TURN YOUR HAIR FROM THIS🤮 TO THIS😍🔥
My hair care journey has not been easy but over time, I turned my EXTREMELY heat-damaged hair into lively, bouncy curls! Pictured is my current hair care routine, after 3 years of trying various hair products from ALL different brands I think I found my favorite lineup😍 TPH BY TARAJI - Honey Fresh Clarifying Shampoo With Moisture This clarifying shampoo is one of favorites that I’ve tried so far! I suffer from fast product build-up on my scalp, so I usually need to use a clarifying shampoo at least once a week. Something about a shampoo that bubbles makes my scalp feel extra clean 🧼 so I love using this on days where I feel like my No-Poo won’t get the job done. SLS/SLES free, phthalate free, paraben free, mineral oil free, and cruelty free! DevaCurl - No-Poo Original Zero Lather Conditioning Cleanser I wanted to love this product because I heard so much hype about it but it just doesn’t do much for when I feel like I need a wash day😅 Great texture though and my hair never feels stripped after using it! DevaCurl - One Condition Original Daily Cream Conditioner THIS IS MY HOLY GRAIL. Favorite conditioner I’ve ever used and definitely has a large role in my hair journey. My curls love this conditioner! (NOTE: the decadence version of this conditioner is great for super dry hair as well) Alikay Naturals - Lemongrass Leave-in Conditioner This is another one of my ride or die products and I was so surprised to see that it hadn’t been recommended on cherie yet! This detangles my hair so easily and it’s the first thing I spray on my hair when I get out of the shower. Its main ingredient is lemongrass oil that aims to help strengthen hair follicles, promote healthy hair growth, and reduce hair shedding. Highly recommend this product for ALL hair types! Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler This product is okay. When I first bought it, I though it would serve more as a gel to seal my leave in conditioners in but it just doesn’t work as well as DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler . This gel creates the perfect shine and seal for all my moisturizing products that I apply before hand. AND I love that it doesn’t leave a crunchy feeling most gels do. MIELLE - Pomegranate & Honey Leave-In Conditioner Another hair care staple. The smell is fantastic and it slips through my hair like BUTTAH😩 Once my hair dries, I’m left with pillow-soft curls! (NOTE: I apply this after my Alikay Naturals Leave-in spray and top it with my gel) Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask Last but not least, liquid gold in a tub. Man if I could bathe in this mask I would. I use this mask once-twice a week to add some extra richness in my routine!

Do I need to wear sunscreen indoors? 🏡
This quarantine has kept us in our homes longer than normal and many people might believe that using sunscreen is not important, but it is. All houses have windows where the sun comes in and doesn’t protect against UV rays. In addition, being locked up has made us watch more TV, use the computer or cell phone more, these devices emit blue light that causes dark spots and aging. So it is important that you apply and reapply your sunscreen every 4 hours even if you don’t leave home 🏠. Dr. Loretta - Urban Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 40 This sunscreen protects against the 4 external factors that age our skin (pollution, light, climate and irritants). 🧪 Lipochroman: is an antioxidant that protects against free radicals caused by pollution and UV radiation that cause fine lines and age spots 👵🏻. 🧪 Indian ginseng: protects the skin from the HEV light emitted by electronic devices 📺📱💻 and the Sun ☀️. 🧪 Peptides: hydrate and firm the skin. 🧪 Zinc oxide: protect the skin from UVA / UVB rays and irritants. It can be used as a primer or as a lightweight foundation. It is very lightweight, it absorbs quickly and the color goes with any skin tone. It keeps my skin matte, no breakouts. It doesn’t smell good but I think it is an good product with excellent ingredients, and it works very well. pūrlisse - Blue Lotus Essential Daily Moisturizer It is a moisturizer with SPF 30, I really prefer products that have more protection, but I think it works well. Blue lotus extract is a potent anti-inflammatory antioxidant that helps with free radical damage caused by sun rays. It's lightweight, no greasy residue or white tint. Smells good. Contains white tea, vitamin E and algae extracts to prevent fine lines, soothe and smooth skin.

My Sunscreen Awards!!!-Part 1
In its most crucial role, sunscreen protects your skin from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, which are most commonly associated with skin aging; these beams cause fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots that make skin look prematurely older. So it's quite important to find the RIGHT sunscreen products!!! Here is mu review of 9 sunscreen I've tried (it's too long so I divide it into 2 parts😉😉) Murad - City Skin Broad Spectrum SPF50 PA ++++ 50ml This sunscreen has a high SPF, good enough for beach or hiking. The texture is close to a peachy lotion. It has a little bit effect on evening skin tone. It is not oily at all. Also, it contains Vitamin C, so it helps to brighten your skin. This product is good for your skin. At the same time, it is also super light, easy to absorb. This is definitely my favorite one recently. Highly Highly Recommend! SHISEIDO - Urban Environment UV Protection Cream Plus SPF50 This one also has a high SPF. It is a milky white cream, pretty heavy. And it is also a bit oily. I think this is good for dry and combination skin to use in winter. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Pure Mineral Sunscreen Moisturizer SPF 40 This product is designed for sensitive skin, so the ingredients are very safe and gentle. It is a creamy white lotion. The texture is pretty heavy, but it does not feel oily on face. Thann-Oilfree Facial Suncreen The color is creamy white. And the texture is between a lotion and a cream. It is pretty light, and it smells good, not very strong. The SPF is also enough for daily use. I would buy it again.

HOW TO APPLY THE CONCEALER: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE
That a concealer is simply a concealer? Not at all! Sure, the main function of the concealer is that, but it's got a trick! To be really expert in makeup you have to have this product super controlled: know how to apply the concealer, choose the perfect one for you, know other functions that you can give to enhance your makeup to the maximum... Ready to erase all your imperfections and enhance your makeup to the fullest? Let's go! Moisturize before makeup Although it may sound redundant, the skin should be hydrated before the concealer is applied, much more so when it comes to the eye area. The sensitivity of this skin needs a previous eye contour that hydrates and protects the area. If you resort to a fluid concealer, you can apply it with slight taps forming an inverted triangle. Even if you want to hide the dark circle, you don't have to follow its shape as it will be more visible and the eye will appear drooping. By drawing the triangle, the opposite effect is achieved, highlighting the gaze and illuminating the face by encompassing a larger surface area. You can play with the shape of the triangle, creating an isosceles to tear the eye further and clean, in case you wear it, the cat eye. The first photo I show you the diferent effect the shape of your concealer can make in your face. We can see an ilumated undereye tan elongates the face in the third photo. In this one on the other hand, we can see a lifting effect on my face because of how i applied and blended my concealer. You have to know the shape of your face to know what will look the best in you. There is not a universal way to apply makeup. Each one of us has to know what is convenient and what not. Liquid correctors have less pigmentation than cream correctors so when buying yours, first think about which area you need it for and how you're going to use it. In addition to dark circles, we also use the concealer to camouflage pimples. Before covering with layers and layers of product and not letting the skin breathe, the pimple must be treated. The concealer can also be used as an illuminator, as long as the product is suitable and applied in the appropriate areas. In addition to the inverted triangle under the eyes, the septum of the nose and the center of the forehead are the main natural light. Fluid correctors are the easiest to use when lighting, but their key is in the way they are blended No dragging, just light touches. My favourite concealer is the shape tape by tarte. But you have to be careful because its a very drying concealer. So if your skin is dry, you better use another one, like the one from too faced, born this way. There is a concealer that I really dont like, born this way by too faced. Take into account that i dont like it beacuse it dindt work FOR ME. That doesn't mean its a bad concealer and that it wont work for you. I don't like the concealer from morphe, either. It's weird because i really love their foundation. But the concealer just didnt work form me. Its tacky and i dont like the coverage. Know your face, your skin type, and what your desired effect is and you will have the most flawless look using your concealer!

Oily / Acne-Prone Skin Deep Cleanse Routine
Every once in a while, it is important to do a deep cleanse for your skin to prevent sebum and dead skin build up that will lead to break outs and enlarged pores. It is like doing house cleaning, which is necessary for everyone regardless of your skin type. However, since my face produces a lot of oil, I tend to break out more, and I have developed a deep cleanse routine that really helped with alleviating my acne problems. Step 1 – Cleanse Product: Neutrogena (Deep Clean Facial Cleanser Normal to Oily Skin) Firstly, I need to get rid of all the dirt and impurities on the surface of my face to get into cleaning the deeper layers of my skin. I use this cleanser because it has a strong cleaning power that removes the oiliness of my face without stripping off the hydration. It is in a gel texture that lathers into foam. Step 2 – Exfoliate Product: Dermalogica (Daily Microfoliant) This step is to get rid of all the dead skin cells being built up on the face that are the main causes of rough skin, dullness and acnes. The product has become one of my favourite products because my skin feels much brighter and smoother every time after I have used it. It is in a white powder form and turns into foam when it touches water. Because it is meant to be a daily exfoliate, it is very gentle on the face, however, I would not recommend exfoliating every day because it will destroy your skin’s barrier, and I have noticed that my skin becomes more fragile and red if I use it too often. Step 3 – Detox Product: Estée Lauder (NightWear Plus 3 Minute Detox Mask) I always like to follow up with a clay mask that draws out impurities from deep under the skin and helps control the oiliness of my face. This visibly reduces black heads of my skin if I keep up with this routine regularly. This product smells like fresh cucumber, which I enjoy, and has a very cooling sensation on the face. What I like the most about this product compared to other clay masks is that it dries very quickly because it is so thin. It leaves me with a clearer and smoother skin just after 3 minutes, which is great for lazy people like me. Step 4 – Sooth & Hydrate Product: Avene (Eau Thermale Spring Water) I use this mist to add another layer of moisture before I lock everything in with a moisturiser and to sooth my skin after exfoliation. The mist spreads very evenly, covering every part of my face, and feels very refreshing and cooling. Step 5 – Moisturiser Product: La Roche Posay (Toleriane Sensitive Crème) Lastly, I will rehydrate myself with a thicker cream than I normally use that has soothing properties to comfort my skin after going through the hash cleansing steps before. My skin feels very hydrated, smooth and plump after I use this cream. Also, it is not too heavy on the skin, and has no scent.

BENZOYL PEROXIDE 101: TIPS & HOW TO
Benzoyl Peroxide is one of my favorite topical acne treatments you can buy at any drugstore! In 2013 I had horrible acne and it only took a month to clear it up. Here’s how I personally used BP and tips to know before starting! Tips: -Make sure other products in your routine aren’t comedogenic, and stop using the ones that are! Use cosdna.com for this. -Plan for your routine to be as minimal as possible. Cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF is all you’ll need for now. -Buy a 2.5% BP as research shows this works just as well as 5% and up, with less irritation. Drugstore brands with BP: Neutrogena, Up&Up, Clearasil, and La Roche Posay. Paula’s Choice (online) is great too, and great quality for more product. How to use: -Cleanse skin. Always double cleanse in the pm, especially if you have acne. -Gently apply a light layer of BP to ALL areas you tend to break out in. Do not use just as a spot treatment if you want the best results. -Wait 5-10 min to let it completely dry. BP can bleach clothes and pillows, so always wait until it’s dry. -Moisturize. Again, gently! The less you rub your skin, the less irritation. Let skin absorb it. Apply 1-2 layers. Hydration and moisturizing is key to prevent the dryness that BP will bring later on. Trust me on this. +++Ingredients to look for in your moisturizer: glycerin, squalane, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, jojoba oil, ceramides (for barrier repair/replenishing); rosehip oil, vitamin c, licorice root extract (for brightening dark spots) -Use broad spectrum SPF of at least 30 (in the am). Preferably with antioxidants and barrier repairing ingredients as above! Do this am & pm for at least a month. If you have sensitive skin, use once daily for a week to see if irritation occurs, then increase to twice daily. If you’re consistent with this you may notice your skin to get more dry. This is normal with BP, so be generous with moisturizer. Disclaimer: this is my personal experience and I am not a licensed professional. Always do your due diligence for your own skin. Good luck! ☺️

Knowing The Difference Saved My Skin
Hi everyone I’m B...short for Bath-she-ba. I wanted to share a skincare tip with you guys that changed my skin for the better. For the longest I have struggled with the oiliest of oily skin and could not figure out why. Until recently when I was doing research to incorporate a few new products into my routine. To simply put it: Knowing the Difference Between Hydration and Moisturizarion. I know the difference may seem obvious but these two words are often used interchangeably by the skin care community and/or brands but they do not mean the same thing. I believed for a while that because I had oily skin I should be stripping it, I shouldn’t be moisturizing it (because of the high oil production) or if I were to drink enough water that will in turn hydrate my skin and these are all MISCONCEPTIONS that are just not TRUE. So Hydration vs. Moisturization HYDRATION (Hydration = Penetration) Hydration refers to the water content within the skin. So when your using hydrating products it penetrates deeper in the skin increasing the water content. MOISTURIZATION When you are moisturizing you are locking in the hydration to protect/enhance the skins natural barrier. So when you use a moisturizer you are creating a protective barrier that will help to avoid water loss within the skin. Through all my research I had discoverd I had OILY DEHYDRATED SKIN and honestly I was blown away at the fact that oily skin could be both. I came across this video: How To Find Your Skin Type by Hyram a Skincare Specialist: https://youtu.be/vic-EMOivpA In this video he points out that and I quote “Everyone has dehydrated skin in some way or another. From what I have learned your skin type is a manifestation of the hydration level of your face. Our skin is lacking the hydration that it needs so it shows that in different ways: whether that be by producing a ton of oil on the surface of the skin or by not producing any oil at all.” So in short ***ALL SKIN NEED HYDRATION AND MOSTURIZATION*** At this point of my research everything started to make a lot more sense — if you want to reduce the oiliness or dryness in your skin you need to HYDRATE IT!! As I said before drinking water is NOT enough to hydrate the skin you also have to manually put hydration into the skin. The most effective way that I’ve found is through a HYDRATING TONER. A hydrating toner is any water based toner plus a humectant. Water + Humectant = Hydrating Toner A HUMECTANT is an ingredient found in products that helps to hydrate the skin by attracting water molecules from your surroundings/environment. They are great for rehydration and increasing the skins water content. EX:Glycerin (common) and Hyaluronic Acid (common) A toner is highly effective because they are thin and absorb at a fast rate, which means you can layer this product comfortably, without fear of it being to heavy. I layered my toner using the 7 skin Method. Find out more in my next post running out of characters (lol yikes).
