With patience, Differin worked for me!

I’ve always been skeptical of the products that cause purging, but while in quarantine I decided to give Differin a shot! My skin was congested, breakouts are always popping up, and they were painful. I’ve always been the kind of person to take care of my skin, but I couldn’t manage to get rid of my team for breakouts and the terrible texture on my cheeks and jawline. So, I gave Differin a try. - At first, my skin definitely was dry and irritated because of the product, but I made sure to moisturize well. I tried not to put any make up on and just let my skin do its thing. It’s also important to not pick at your face, which I am SO guilty of doing. - I know everyone’s skin is different, but it only took about a month for it to clear up! I just had another flare up but I’m not sure if it’s stressed related bc #unemployedgrad but this really helped me! Just stay consistent and you’ll see results quickly! 😇

My Differin Journey (9 weeks in and STRUGGLING)
Hi all, Around the first week of December 2020 I decided to start trying Differin Adapalene Gel to address my skin concerns. As some of my previous posts explain, I’ve struggled badly with oily skin, blackheads, extremely enlarged pores, and occasional acne, most of my teenage years and into my adult life (I’m 26 now). I have tried SO many products to try and help curb my issues (see previous posts for examples), and though they’ve helped a little, I’ve never been fully satisfied with the results... my skin is just stubborn! I decided to swap my retinol for Differin to see if it would target my issues a little bit better and JEEZ has this been a journey so far... So to be completely blunt, I’m discouraged. If you look at the attached photo, the picture with all the acne is me NOW. Yes, RIGHT NOW. The one WITHOUT explosive acne is my BEFORE Differin skin. Okay, now I’ll get into it... So it’s been about 9 weeks since I’ve started on Differin. In the beginning I noticed my skin was starting to feel really sensitive, which it never is. Any other product (Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, etc.) felt like burning when I put it on, which is incredibly strange for me. My skin has been consistently pink ever since. I immediately stopped using any BHA, AHA or any harsh acid while using Differin and made sure to SLATHER on reparative moisturizer to help repair my skin barrier. Basically my skin routine needed to stripped to the bare minimum. Throughout the weeks, my skin flaked and peeled excessively, especially with makeup on. It looked SO dry and awful and felt stingy underneath (still does). Then about 3 weeks in, the purging started. It started off slow and erupted to where it’s at now on February 11, 2021. Purge pimples are so strange compared to my sporadic cystic acne bumps I’m used to getting. Purging shows up in a big breakout cluster of pimples, mostly small (not always), but definitely painful and brutal looking for me. Over the weeks it just got worse and worse. I’m getting pimples all in the same place for the most part — my lower cheek areas. It has been tumultuous and my skin has never looked this terrible in my whole life. I’ve done my research on Differin, and everyone says it is completely normal for your skin to get worse before it gets better (for me, A LOTTTTT worse). I’m hoping this is true because I really want to stick this out — I’ve already gone through the worst of it, might as well wait it out a bit longer. If you’re interested in Differin, just be prepared for what you’re getting into! I’m sure this will all be worth it but wanted to share my experience and help others with the SHOOKness that may or may not happen. I will definitely share updates in the future with hopefully better results! Anyone try Differin before? Was it this hard? Did your purging last this long? Words of encouragement? Thank you!! Differin progress... is this a purge or what?
Sorry this is gross.. I know my skin isn’t pretty right now. Today marks the 4th week I’ve been on DIFFERIN - 0.1% Adapalene Acne Treatment Gel Pump and also my new birth control (yaz). I have literally never, EVER seen my skin this awful and angry. Should I stick it out until the and of 12 weeks? Does this look like a purge or just a flat out breakout?! I’m freaking out.. I don’t even want to go outside looking like this. I’m also using Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream am and pm, and cleansing with CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser . Not looking to add any more products. Sometimes I use a hydrating toner. The dryness and peeling has subsided but the pimples do hurt, my cheeks are tender to the touch and sometimes itchy but that has gotten better over time also. Please help!!!!! EDIT: i just bought the DIFFERIN - Daily Deep Cleanser BPO 5%, Neutrogena - On-the-Spot Acne Treatmentand HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewellto hopefully combat the horrible breakouts pictured above. just praying it doesnt over dry my skin.

About me!
About me!
Hello friends! Little bit about me, I’m 23 year old skin care enthusiast. I have been obsessed with skin care for most of my life. I was luckily raised by a mother who loves it as much as I do and taught me a lot along the way. I am so excited to have found a community with like minded people! I’m also excited to grow and learn more about skin care and try all the great products you all recommended. Little about my skin journey, I had horrible acne after high school and only recently got it under control. It was cystic acne and no topical cream could fix with what I was dealing with. It was extremely painful and embarrassing. I thought I skipped all this since my skin was PERFECT in high school. It was when I started to break out when my love for skin care really began because it forced me to educate myself in order to properly care for my skin. Here is my list of the most important things I learned in my skin care journey so far 1. Find a good dermatologist right away and make sure they take the time to listen to you. 2. SPF SPF SPF 3. Acne means your skin is sensitive 4. Even if you have oily skin, MOISTURIZE! 5. If your face feels tight after washing, it does not mean it’s clean. It’s stripping and is damaging to skin. 6. Change pillow cases often 7. Tretinoin is your best friend 8. DIY should not be trusted 9. Less is more for make up, even if you have acne. 10. Learn to love yourself, even if your skin isn’t loving you that week.

I Need Help With What Skincare I Should Use?
I have oily skin and have sensitive skin. I’m trying to find a morning skincare routine and night time routine. I want to try to stop having blackheads coming and pimples from having breakouts from stress. I would love to hear what you can recommend to me and skincare that you would not recommend. Iwould also love if you could show me products that I can buy from Ultra.

ACCUTANE: what to expect
ACCUTANE: what to expect
I was on accutane two years ago and I don’t think I was ever as confident than I was when I was finished with it. I never broke out and could use practically anything on my skin. However about 8-9 months ago my skin flared up like CRAZY again. Thanks to birth control all of my acne now is hormonal. I’ve changed my diet, drink more water than I think anyone else ever, and switched to a really gentle skin care routine. The past 2 months have been the most inflamed and painful breakout I’ve had in a long time. I went to a dermatologist and was put back on antibiotics and topicals, as we already knew those don’t work for me. We came to the decision with starting accutane for a second round, but with a more aggressive dosage and longer period of time-so I’m assuming I’ll be taking it for the next 8 months. I begin tomorrow! When I was on accutane the first time, I didn’t see the “it gets worse before it gets better” phase. It was more like those first few weeks it was just as bad and then you get pretty dry. The skin around my mouth, my lips and the inside of my nose became extremely dry and I basically lived off of Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant - however the dryness always came back no matter how much I applied it. You will also absolutely get Angular cheilitis. It’s those tiny cuts on the side of your mouth that are painful and look quite displeasing. What helped a ton was drinking TONS of water and putting on aquaphor. I hear you get symptoms of depression while taking accutane. While this is true, I never found the added effects from the med to be very hard to deal with. Ive struggled with depression and anxiety for years now, but I’m glad to say it didn’t take a huge toll on my mental health. I hope this helps! Ask me anything if you have questions because I feel like I know more than I should regarding accutane!

HOW I CLEARED MY SKIN WITH ONE BRAND FOR GOOD!🥰
HOW I CLEARED MY SKIN WITH ONE BRAND FOR GOOD!🥰
So I never really thought products could make a big impact on ones skin. I just thought it was genes and the food you eat that make clear skin. Yes that is true, but there is a product out there for everyone to help clear up your skin!! I have tried everything from acutane to holistic remedies and nothing seemed to work until I switched from a dermatologist to an esthetician. The esthetician introduced me to “Face Reality” and my skin had never been clearer. Face Reality products I recommend to anyone who is struggling with stubborn acne. The face wash is my absolute favorite and it helps clear up your skin over night. I can make individual posts about the certain products but this line has saved my skin so much from further damage💗

Rosen products for acne!
Rosen products for acne!
Hi! Today I have a little review post on these Rosen goodies. They’re part of their Clear Routine, and as someone with acne prone skin, I knew these were gonna work out great for me! You can purchase these individually as well. The ROSEN SKINCARE - Break-Out is a cult Instagram classic and I’ve had good luck with it so far! It’s a spot treatment that you just kinda dab on your pimple and, overnight, your skin is supposed to be remedied. I noticed that this works best on pimples that have already formed, but still works on under the skin pimples to bring them to the skin faster. The key ingredients in this are zinc oxide and peppermint oil & I haven’t had great experiences with peppermint in the past, but this is non-irritating. The scent of this stings my eyes for about thirty seconds after application, but subsides then. However, I do not recommend you use this on dry skin, because this is very drying! This is a really great spot treatment otherwise. The other product I wanna feature is the ROSEN SKINCARE - Earth Cleanser . I don’t wash my face in the mornings, but I use this twice a week at night. My acne is clearing up faster than ever when I use this, and sometimes I use it on my chest for acne as well. The scent of this is really really strong, and it contains earth clay, zinc oxide, and eucalyptus. It’s surprisingly gentle, though, and I really don’t mind using this at night because it’s pretty refreshing and super calming! These were gifted by the brand in exchange for an honest review.

my skin journey?? I'm new here
my skin journey?? I'm new here
I've struggled with acne since I was a preteen. Back then, I used harsh products that dried out my skin because I thought it was the best way to combat my oily complexion. I couldn't have been more wrong. What my skin needed was hydration, and I was stripping it every time I washed my face. (which was probably about four times per day. Oh yeah. I was obsessed.) When I was 21, my skin had its worst breakout ever, and I was forced to reevaluate the way I took care of my face. I learned about the importance of hydration, and I learned that my sensitive skin needs more gentle products to avoid irritation. I started a basic three step routine twice a day: cleanse, tone, and moisturize. Since then I've also incorporated masks (store-bought and homemade), exfoliation, serums, and even skincare tools like face rollers. I deleted all the pictures of my worst breakouts because they made me feel awful, but I can show you my skin now. It's not perfect, but I'm happy with the way I care for it, and I'm learning more every day.
