makeup that I can’t live without: bronzer

A couple makeup items I can’t live without is a brow filler, mascara, and bronzer. I’ve been blessed in the way that, besides a couple of minor blemishes (and some major blemishes once every couple of years), I don’t really have major issues that I need to cover up with lots of foundation and concealer, so one of the main makeup items I feel like I can’t live without is bronzer. Bronzer is used to give the skin a subtle glow, and since I usually wake up looking pale and colorless, I like to add bronzer to my bare face to add some color. No matter the occasion, no matter the day, I like to apply bronzer really quickly to add a glow. My skin tone changes with the seasons, as the amount of sun that I get changes depending on the season, so I have a couple of bronzers that complement my changing skin tone throughout the year. Honestly, I’ve only ever used these two brands but they’re both so amazing that I don’t really feel the need to try other brands. And these last SOOO long because you really only need a little bit to give yourself that color. Besides using these to color my cheek bones, I like to blend this onto my eyelids to give a warm, monochromatic look. Using these products as 2-in-1 products is super helpful. Bobbi Brown was my first real makeup brand, so of course I have loyalty to them. But in all honesty, their products are so versatile, pigmented, and easy to use, so of course I would love them even more. They are a bit pricey, with theBOBBI BROWN - BOBBI BROWN Bronzing Powder
coming to $44, but like I said it has multiple uses and it lasts forever. I’ve had mine for at least 6 years and it’s still not used up yet! Bobbi Brown is all about enhancing your natural beauty rather than covering it all up, and I feel like this product does just that. This is a matte bronzing powder so it’s perfect if you’d like a more matte look. I use this pretty much all over my face (very lightly) and I find it helps blur my pores. Another brand I’ve come to learn about is Physician’s Formula. This is a drugstore brand where the PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Murumuru Butter Bronzer
ranges from $5-$16 depending where you buy it from. As the name suggests, it’s a buttery bronzer that glides onto your skin, moisturizing it while it gives you that color. It has a more pearlescent quality to it than the Bobbi Brown one, so it’s perfect for a more dewy and illuminating look. Again, I use this on my eyelids for some natural color, and I use it lightly all over my face add color all over. It has a very tropical scent (coconut-ey) that isn’t overpowering but reminds me of vacationing in Hawaii or in the Caribbean, and it doesn’t irritate my skin. It’s really the perfect bronzer for any kind of occasion! What are your thoughts about bronzer?

love the skin you’re in
As you can see, my base isn’t flawless. Even though I’m undergoing treatments to minimize my pores, control my sebum, and clear up my acne, I’m also trying to love my skin the way it is because it’s never going to be perfect. And even though I criticize myself and nitpick at every little flaw on my face, most of the time other people don’t notice those little flaws. So if you’re into self-love and appreciating your natural beauty, this is a post for you! I do appreciate concealer and foundation, but I’m someone who doesn’t really like covering my entire face with makeup. My goal is to enhance my looks, rather than cover everything up. I’ve found that Bobbi Brown is a huge proponent of this idea, which is why her products work so well for me. So in this picture, I don’t have any concealer or foundation on, just a mix of eyeshadow, bronzer, blush, mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick. BOBBI BROWN - BOBBI BROWN Bronzing Powder I use this both on my lids as an eyeshadow and as a second layer of bronzer. It’s more of a matte color rather than a shimmery color, which is why I use something else on top for a shimmer. BOBBI BROWN - Bobbi Brown Blush For a pop of color on my cheeks BOBBI BROWN - BOBBI BROWN Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner Nothing fancy, I just fill in my lash line with this. BOBBI BROWN - Eyeshadow This is an eyeshadow but I use a dark brown color for my eyebrows. PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Murumuru Butter Bronzer A shimmery bronzer that gives extra glow for me. DIOR - Addict Lacquer Stick A simple lipstick that goes on creamy and gives my lips a slightly enhanced natural color. L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Original Mascara I switch up my mascaras once in a while but I like this one a lot. The key to this look, I would say, is trying your best to care for your skin and for yourself. You don’t need it to look perfect and flawless, just give your body and face a little TLC. As long as you take care of your skin as best as you can, I think you can learn to love your skin as it is, with flaws or without.

Give Your Skin That ‘Glow’ With Azelaic Acid
It is nothing less than a mystery why few incredible skincare ingredients keep on flying under the radar, although research indicating that they deserve to be introduced in your skincare routine. The azelaic acid is among those amazingly beneficial ingredients! Ample research has proven that it possesses the ability to massively reduce the blemishes on your skin, assists in fading post-acne marks, and several other discolorations. Interestingly, it could also diminish the skin’s sensitivity and is completely compatible with all the skin types.

the secret to flawless base makeup
the secret to flawless base makeup
There’s a lot of brands nowadays that are emphasizing the importance of caring for your skin first instead of trying to simply cover flaws with makeup. Of course makeup is a lot more than that; it’s a creative outlet for many, but I appreciate the efforts to highlight skin health nonetheless. All that to say that makeup and skincare are inextricably related in a lot of ways, including what I want to talk about in this post: using chemical exfoliants to ensure a smooth base for makeup. While this isn’t something I was always aware of, the experts know: in fact, Dr. Dennis Gross actually recommends using his cult favorite Dr Dennis Gross - Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel in the mornings before makeup because it ensures a smooth, even surface, making makeup apply better. Many people think acids should be used only at night, but that is absolutely NOT true—as long as you wear adequate sun protection, there is no problem with using them in the morning. It’s important to use exfoliants to keep your skin clear of dead skin cells, which can cause makeup to appear uneven or to not stay well throughout the day. It’s also important to stay consistent with them to see lasting results, though those with more sensitive skin may not be able to use them every day. Listen to your skin and find the frequency that’s right for you. So here are just a few chemical exfoliants, though there are nearly endless options out there! The Dr. Dennis Gross pads are the best exfoliant I’ve ever tried—they’re amazing at lightening dark spots and smoothing texture, and I notice a definite difference in my makeup when I use them in the mornings. Sadly, they are very pricey, which is why I don’t use them every day and I always keep other options on hand. I also love the PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator as a gentle everyday exfoliant. The salicylic acid has been amazing at helping reduce my acne and texture, and although the oilier texture put me off at first, now it feels moisturizing (maybe due to the green tea extract?), which I really appreciate given that it’s an exfoliant. This is a much more affordable option, at $29.50 for 4oz. I’ve used both the tarte - Knockout Tingling Treatment Tonerand the pixi - Glow Tonicin the past, though I haven’t had a chance to crack open these particular bottles. The glow tonic uses glycolic acid as its main exfoliant, while the knockout toner has a hefty blend of acids and is *very* strong—like, I use acids frequently and even I couldn’t use this every day. Last, I haven’t tried the REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Toneryet, but I’m interested to see how the lactic acid works for me since I haven’t used many lactic acid products. Does anyone else notice a difference in their makeup when they forget to exfoliate? #CheriePartner

Soft and Glowing
Soft and Glowing
Ready to come out of quarantine glowing! Only had these products for about 5 days and I can already tell a difference in my skin. Applying these products is one of the best parts of my day: they smell fantastic. My skin is so incredibly soft and smooth after, I have to stop myself from constantly touching it. I was so impressed with these products that I immediately bought their new watermelon poreless toner, lip scrub, and a full size blueberry bounce cleanser! I’m in skincare heaven ☀️☁️🌈
