just a college gal trying to get that glow on
let’s talk neck care!
Neck and décolletage care! This type of skin care isn’t addressed as much, but it’s still an important step of skincare! I never really thought about it while I was addressing my face skin concerns, but I once read that it was good to bring your skincare products down to your neck, so I started doing that about 8 months ago. I think my neck lines are partly genetic, but they’re also due to how often I sit in bed staring at my phone, thus creating deeper lines on my neck. I wish I had a picture from 8 months ago, but my neck was pretty wrinkly, it had really deep horizontal neck lines that I couldn’t get rid of even if I stretched my neck. While I still have some horizontal lines on my neck, they’re certainly less visible than they were before. So what do I do exactly? I really don’t do much besides bring my toners, serums, sunscreen, and moisturizers down to my neck, and I massage it in in an upward direction. So with the product on my hands, I start to massage from the base of my neck up to my chin. I do this until I feel like the product has been absorbed. Massaging the product in an upward direction will help smooth the skin and prevent drooping. I certainly did not see results immediately. In fact, it took at least 6 months of doing this little massage every morning and night to see some change. I really just stuck to it and ended up doing it out of habit for many months, then one day I realized my neck looked much smoother than it was before. Here are some of the products I’ve been using on my neck (I usually use these on my face too): innisfree - Cica Toner with Bija Seed Oil innisfree - Green Tea Moisture-Balancing Toner CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

silky smooth skin
I was a little hesitant to try the LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Moisturizing Lotion since I haven’t seen a ton of reviews on this, but I’m so glad I got it! This is a medium texture lotion, not too thin and not too thick, and it feels silky smooth on my skin. It hydrates and moisturizes so well without leaving any sticky or greasy residue. It melts into my skin so well and absorbs so quickly. This lotion is made with a high concentration of La Roche-Posay Prebiotic Thermal Water, Shea butter, and is enriched with niacinamide to help alleviate dry skin by restoring moisture and replenishing essential skin lipids. The lotion is made for normal to dry, sensitive skin in babies, children, and adults. It can be used for face and body but as of right now I’ve only used it for my body. It is dermatologist tested-safe for sensitive skin, allergy tested, it’s fragrance-free, paraben-free and non-comedogenic! I think I paid $15.99 for this bottle and honestly I can say it’s worth it to try this. It’s so buttery (but not in a greasy way) and absorbs right into the skin, leaving nothing but smooth, silky skin.

triple acid exfoliant for brighter, smooth skin
I was looking for The Ordinary Lactic Acid treatment but couldn’t find it in Sephora, and I was recommended the Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment instead, and I’m so glad I picked this up! Claims: A clinic-inspired leave-on exfoliating treatment gentle enough for daily use. Liquid ExfoliKate® is clinically tested safe for sensitive skin and improves the look of pores while smoothing skin texture and evening skin tone for radiant, younger-looking skin. I’ve been using this treatment 2-3 times a week for about a month and I’ve found that the bumps and closed comedones on my face have subsided. I feel like this treatment does a good job of removing dead skin cells, allowing my other treatments (Tretinoin and Azelaic Acid) to penetrate my skin even more. My skin has become significantly smoother and brighter since starting to use this. Note: I have been using my Tretinoin and Azelaic Acid treatments every day for about 6 months so my skin is very used to it and not sensitized, thus allowing me to use the exfoliant and those treatments together in one routine. If you are new to exfoliants or retinoids or any other actives, exercise extreme caution because your skin could become really sensitized after using these. You should only use these actives together if your skin has become accustomed to the actives. Sometimes I wake up with some dead skin coming off my face, and I just wipe it off with a wet washcloth. While this is a triple acid exfoliating treatment, I find it to be pretty mild on my skin. It doesn’t irritate my skin, but is still effective at creating a smooth surface. Ingredients: 10% Triple Acid Blend (Glycolic, Malic, and Lactic Acids) Phytic Acid with Pumpkin, Papaya, and Pineapple Enzymes Peptides, Honey, and Tea Extract I love the ingredient list because it has different AHAs blended with soothing ingredients! Application: The company suggests you apply this as a toner by saturating a cotton pad and applying before your moisturizer. You can certainly do it this way, but I usually like using it like a serum by using a dropper and applying it in drops directly on my face and then rubbing it in. It does have a pretty runny and thin consistency, so just be careful not to let it slip off your face before rubbing it in when using a dropper. Both application techniques work just fine! I usually only use this at night so as to avoid extra sensitization to the sun. I apply this in conjunction with my hyaluronic acid and niacinamide serums. Overall, this is a great addition to your skincare routine if you’re looking for a gentle yet effective exfoliating treatment! Let me know your thoughts!

perfect hydration cream for dry winters
I got this FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream sample from Sephora and I’m so glad I chose this one! This cream isn’t heavy, it’s actually pretty lightweight, but it definitely feels hydrating and moisturizing to the skin. It’s not oily or greasy, and after using it for the past few nights, I’ve found it doesn’t cause breakouts for me, which is great! I use this both morning and night, and I love how great my skin feels after using this! I just moved back to school in Western Massachusetts where it’s dry and cold, so this cream is perfect for me! I have oily-combination skin, and although this cream is formulated for dry skin, it works well for my skin! This cream is safe for sensitive skin and it’s formulated with colloidal oatmeal, shea butter, and ceramide 3, so it has great calming abilities too! I believe a 14oz jar of this cream costs $60, which is a tad expensive for my taste, and I think a comparable cream in terms of texture and function would be the CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream , and it only costs about $16 for a 16oz jar. Let me know what you guys think!

first impressions of this living proof kit
I just got this Living proof. - Fullness + Volume Mini Transformation Kit and I used it for the first time yesterday and today. I used the shampoo on my roots and the conditioner from my mid-shaft to ends in the shower last night, then applied the full thickening cream from my mid-shaft to ends while my hair was still damp. I let it air dry a little before I went to sleep. When I woke up this morning, I brushed my hair, then sprayed the full dry volume blast to my roots and tousled my hair a bit to get that extra volume. A little bit about my hair: I have thin, fine, straight hair that tends to get oily at the roots if I don’t wash every night (I’ve tried washing every other day but it just doesn’t work for me) The ends of my hair are quite healthy—I always get compliments about how soft my natural hair is I got my first hair treatments (dye and digital perm) a little over a year ago but it’s mostly grown out and been cut off, and I don’t really style my hair that often I tend to wash my hair every night due to headaches, oiliness issues, and sanitation concerns I don’t really have any scalp issues (no dandruff, no itchiness), I’ve had pretty manageable hair all my life So what are my first impressions? 1) This line smells AMAZING. The shampoo and conditioner first smelled like one of those hotel hair care products, but then it blossomed into this beautiful, refreshing, energizing scent. I can’t quite name it but it just smells so fresh and smells exactly like a nice shower should smell. 2) My hair was soft and moisturized in the morning, especially after I ran a brush through it. It felt so clean and the scent was still there—which I loved! 3) Even after applying both the cream and the spray, my hair still felt lightweight and clean, it didn’t feel weighed down at all! 4) I do feel like my hair looks and feels thicker and more voluminous, which is great because I’ve always wanted more body to my hair. Overall, I think this was a good buy for me, at least to test it out. I can’t say for sure yet if I’m going to purchase the full sizes of these products, but I can definitely say that I’m impressed with the volume this has given me and has kept my hair smelling fresh all night and day! I bought this little kit for $29, which I don’t think is too bad. I know the full sizes of each of these products cost about $29 each, so I may not get all of these products in their full sizes, but just the ones I think work best for me.

BROWN EYES + BROWN EYESHADOW = 😘
Who doesn’t love some wonderful brown warm shades? Nobody cause everyone is obsessed! And since it’s fall time, I knew I wanted to create a fun fall inspired look that enhances my brown eyes without being overwhelming 💕 URBAN DECAY - Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion started off by priming my lids with this since I have oily eyelids so we need to prime to hold the shadow FENTY BEAUTY - Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette so I’m using #7 cadet and the shade “good cookie” which is a BEAUTIFUL shimmery copper bronze tone that legit looks like skin is just glistening without being super crazy on the lids so it’s perfect for the fall time and as an everyday shade ✨ (the swatch on the last slide is not doing it justice but it’s beautiful!) FENTY BEAUTY - Sun Stalk'r Instant Warmth Bronzer used the shade caramel cutie in my crease first to blow out the other colours. I always start with this product because it’s legit the most perfect shade for everything I do! VESCA - Soft-Matte Bronzing Powder Kissed By used the shade maldives to add more depth into the outer corner. It’s perfect for contouring my face but also perfect to add a bit of depth before really building with other deeper shades MORPHE - Morphe X Manny MUA Glam Palette used the shades spellbound & howl to add more depth to the outer corner and buff it out on the lower lash line to create a more smokey vibe. Also used the highlight shade Apollo in my inner corners and my brow bone L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Original Mascara just to add to my top and bottom lashes. This is not waterproof but it’s super black so I think I need to try the waterproof version for it to help my curl and add the volume I love. So this look so truly my go to look during the fall months because of how warm yet sexy it really is and it’s super simple as well!! If you have yet to play around with the same colours as your eyes, I highly recommend it as it’s sooo fun! 😉 #cheriepartner

Only $12! Let contouring save your round face!
For a long time, I was upset about my round face, because the lack of natural angles around the perimeter. I always envied girls who had a lot of dimension. However, when I began to use bronzer, I understood a truth: It's not your fault that you have a round face, but if you don’t make good use of contouring, that's your fault. Now, contouring is an essential step in my makeup routine. I am interested in collecting kinds of contouring products. Recently I’m a big fan of NYX - Wonder Stick, of which, one side is for a brilliant highlight, the other is for a sleek contour. I bought the shade tittled Medium, which matches my darker skin tone. The dark-ended contour part is everything I needed. It blends so smoothly and you can even build up the color for a more drastic contour, providing a very natural look. I just love the final touch it added to my face, without staining my skin. This stick is also very handy for minimal highlights, with the highlight portion of the stick tapered at the end, you can use it to highlight cheekbones and nose with good control. It is very creamy and goes on easily without pulling delicate eye skin. By the way, good product is the base of perfect makeup, knowing techniques to contour a round face shape is also important. The goal of contouring a round face is to slim the chin, widen the cheekbones and create angles and dimension for the whole face. So we should add contour to the outer edges of your forehead, at your temples, and under your cheekbones, then around your jawline. Highlighting is also a way to create dimension and enhance features in the face with lighter colors. Apply highlighter to the center of your forehead, the center of your chin, and the bridge of your nose. These processes help draw more attention to those areas of the face. The stick really simplifies contouring and it's compact design allows for it to go anywhere easily. This surely should be in your makeup bag!
