CBD in Skincare: Miracle Ingredient? 🍁
Every year there's new trendy ingredients featured all over skincare - from serums to moisturizers and everything in between! Some of this year's trendiest ingredients are niacinamide, bakuchiol, retinol, and CBD. I've used all the ingredients on the 2020 trendy skincare list, but one has easily made its way all over my vanity - CBD! So why should CBD be in skincare? Well it has a lot of great benefits to the skin, like: antioxidant and anti-inflammatory can reduce sebum and reduce acne soothes irritated skin and can treat inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea rich in Vitamins A, C and E rich in fatty acids, Omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 I use it because it's extremely soothing to my skin during breakouts and when I'm using a retinoid that dries out my skin. It calms redness and inflammation from breakouts and really helps them to heal quickly! Here's some of the products I've used. LORD JONES - Acid Mantle Repair CBD Moisturizer

Love at first scoop
This moisturizer is bomb 💣. I used it for 2 days now and I am obsessed. I’ve never seen a moisturizer just glide onto my skin and instantly I feel plump, smooth and recharged. It also calmed down any irritation and made my skin so calm. It’s a CBD infused moisturizer which helps maintain the acid mantle. What is the Acid Mantle? The acid mantle is a protective barrier produced by healthy skin that serves as a defense to block bacteria and other contaminants. Your acid mantle can be damaged by over cleansing, over exfoliation and the use of harsh acids (via Lord Jones website). What’s in it: ceramides cbd oil sunflower seed oil hyaluronic acid squalane LORD JONES - Acid Mantle Repair CBD Moisturizer So far my skin has been so calm and soft. It looks so dewy and refreshed. I will keep using this just because I love the way it feels! Have you tried CBD products for your skin?
Trending Ingredients: The (Mostly) Legit Ones!
Some trendy ingredients launch into understandable “cult” status thanks to their grounding in research. Some are known for their benefits in other medical fields but are still substantiating their clinical efficacy in topical dermatology. But these three are my favourite “trendy” ingredients, with some example products included! My Skin: Combo, Sensitive; Acne, Eczema. Niacinamide is so popular now that you can’t scroll without seeing mention of vitamin B3! At lower %, it’s an effective humectant and antioxidant that offers anti-inflammatory benefits for sensitive and/or irritated skin. At 4-5%+, niacinamide controls sebum (oil) production, minimizes pores, and has been (clinically) found to reduce acne. If the common 10% is too strong for you, dilute it 1:1 in another serum! THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum $6.99 per 30mL, $0.23 per 1mL. The Inkey List produces my favourite budget niacinamide, beating fellow budget brands the Ordinary and Naturium. It forgoes potentially-irritating zinc pca to opt for a cocktail of humectants and allantoin to create a hydrating, soothing serum that fits into almost any routine. CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It relies heavily on trend and assumptions, as transdermal benefit doesn’t necessarily translate to topical. But CBD has promise in its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant potential, an appealing premise for use with sensitive skin and/or skin conditions like eczema and rosacea. LORD JONES - Acid Mantle Repair CBD Moisturizer $75 per 50mL, $1.50 per 1mL. Each jar contains 250mg of CBD, so each mL should contain about 5mg of CBD. Is that enough to do much? Not sure, but as a sufferer of eczema, I opted to try this moisturizer on the cusp of a flare-up and was happy to see that it delivered on its claims of soothing! That may be simply because it’s a hardcore moisturizer, offering a heavy texture that’s lusciously rich and almost balm-like. Mixing five ceramides, sunflower oil, squalane, cholesterol, and humectants make this a delightful moisturizer for those with dry or normal skin! Retinol is a retinoid and is probably second only to Differin in clinically-backed OTC anti-aging treatments... it’s more of a re-emerging favourite than a trend! Retinoids help to increase cellular turnover and modulate keratinization, offering longer-term anti-aging results with some folks experiencing reduced acne breakouts! DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream $74 per 30mL, $2.47 per 1mL. This silky yellow cream has a medicinal smell and is known for packing a punch. 1% Retinol pairs with carotenoids, peptides, antioxidants, fatty acids, and moisturizing oils to create a thin cream that soaks in quickly. I experienced dryness and some irritation, but can’t lie that I did also find my skin a bit smoother and tone more even. It stands on equal footing to the Ordinary’s Retinol 1% but is more cosmetically elegant. #CheriePartner
Who doesn’t wanna age backwards?! 🤗
My newest purchase is the new Kosas cbd extra strength lip balm and the age adapting serum by flora and bast omg 😳 where do I start? If you don’t have cbd in your skincare or in your life you are missing out on the most wonderful herb.🤓 I can’t live without this combination. I’m so obsessed already I gotta go buy more because kosas cbd lip balm is a limited edition.😩Winged. - Radiance Youth Serum FLORA+BAST - Age Adapting CBD Serum Kosas - Port LipFuel Hyaluronic Lip Balm the cbd extra strength for juicy hydrated 👄 This is my day and night routine. Winged cbd is my all time fav. They can’t go wrong with anything. This youth serum is so gentle for your skin. My skin feels and looks delicious. This is the perfect routine for a fall skincare because of the weather cooling off.
My Favorite Serums for Combo Skin
I love serums and use at least two in my skincare routine every day! I have oily, combo skin that is breakout prone and hyperpigmentation. Serums help with all my concerns and are essential to my healthy skin goals! Hydrating Serum - every skin needs hydration! Since I have oily, combo skin I like using a lightweight, gel based hydrating serum so it isn't too much for my skin to tolerate and doesn't lead to breakouts. Hydration is also key to fighting pigmentation! My favorite hydrating serum is the iS CLINICAL - Hydra-Cool Serum because the lightweight, cooling and adds that extra layer of hydration that I'm looking for. It's packed full of healing antioxidants like centella asiatica, vitamin B5 and kojic acid and safe for all skin types. iS Clinical is clinically proven and the prices reflect that - this serum retails for $94 for 1 oz. of product. I will repurchase this and do recommend it, but there are tons of fantastic hydrating serums that are way more affordable than this! Treatment Serum - my favorite treatment serum is always going to be something to address my hyperpigmentation. It's my number one skin concern and I target it using Vitamin C. The BeautyStat COSMETICS - Universal C Skin Refiner is my go-to Vitamin C because it's backed by science, doesn't lose efficacy, and has lasted me months! It's also a high percentage vitamin C serum so the results happen fast! This product is safe for all skin types but because of the high percentage of vitamin C I would suggest sensitive skin test this product first! Retailing for $80 this Vitamin C is expensive, but in terms of high end Vitamin C serums it's on the lower side. I also always find discount codes for the brand and haven't bought it at full price yet! I'd absolutely recommend this Vitamin C, even over the beloved CE Ferulic by Skinceuticals. CBD Serum - my favorite "oil" serum to use is CBD because it's a lightweight oil that sinks into the skin and doesn't leave an oily finish. CBD has tons of benefits for the skin, but I use it to calm and soothe my skin if it's irritated by breakouts or if I'm having an side effects from using a retinoid. My favorite CBD serum is the FLORA+BAST - Age Adapting CBD Serum that retails for $77 at Sephora. It's made of 100% TCH-free cannabis oil and even smells like that plant which I find extremely calming. I use it mostly in my night routine as my final step after all my other skincare and moisturizer. I would definitely recommend it! I only need a few drops for my face and neck, so haven't had to repurchase yet but will be soon! All-Rounder Serum - this is the multitasking serum that does it all! For me this serum needs to be hydrating and support my moisture barrier, it's less focused on active ingredients. The LANCÔME - Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum does that for me! It's hydrating, anti-aging and supports my skin. #CheriePartner
LORD JONES - Royal Oil Hemp-Derived CBD Been using this product for ~2 weeks now and I’ve been seeing a slight improvement in my skin. I’ve heard about all the great benefits of CBD on your skin, so decided to order some off Sephora. I use this at night with my jade roller and in the morning I always see a slight decrease in redness in my skin. I think pigmentation in my skin has also improved since using the product. Know this has a relatively steep price tag but so far the results have shown that it’s worth it!
This look is inspired by spring and how I long for it to arrive! I’ve been using my morphe boss babe palette to set my liners and make sure they don’t rub off! The red and green colors are incredible! I love using the lord jones cbd oil as a highlight as I don’t like super blinding highlighters! And as per usual my cloudpaint! Also really enjoying the fenty beauty full frontal mascara! And my Dior lip glow!
Feels like silk - great for redness
Price point is high, about $60. This is a luxury I will always keep in pocket. The effects it has on my skin after purging is beyond amazing. CBD VS HEMP What’s the difference? Strictly speaking in terms of skincare & topical use. CBD is from the whole plant & not just the seed. It is one of hundreds active chemical compounds. Think of CBD as the big guns when you have severe issues or need a lot of help. It contains: ⚡️CBD - Highly anti inflammatory properties - It can even help alleviate pain from cracked skin, irritation, & overscrubbing! Speaking from experience as well. As well as, arthritis, joint pain, sore muscles, etc. - helps with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, sunburn, & bug bites - studies show it can help balance oil production which helps with acne ⚡️Hemp or Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil - high in antioxidants, omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids - contains NO CBD - it’s a great moisturizer & softens the skin. - Doesn’t clog pores or contribute to oily skin - also contains vitamins c, e, and a which help combat signs of aging. 🍃I’ve been testing the highskincare hemp oil and it is very moisturizing & provides a soft glow to my skin. It’s hydrating & balancing. I love this oil when I need an extra boost for dry skin. I use this oil first in my routine so I can get all the ingredients in fully. Absolutely love! 🍃 I’ve also been testing oils & creams that contain CBD like saintjane & farmacy. I reach for these when I need help soothing irritated skin, overly cracked or dry from tretinoin, pain from overscrubbing, etc. CBD in skincare will calm the skin as well.
Have you ever heard of Tansy Oil?
Skin Type- Currently turning Combo as the weather gets warmer Concerns- Hormonal Breakouts, Uneven Texture One of my favorite skincare ingredients is blue tansy oil. I find not a lot of skincare products use this and when my skin is TRULY on the verge of freaking the f out - whether it's hormonal or redness, my Herbivore Lapis is ALWAYS handy and takes control. I will use this as the last step in my skincare routine. I find that oils tend to work better after you moisturize and apply over. I've used this for over two years now. I'm not sure what YouTube influencer mentioned it, but it has definitely become a staple enough for me to purchase a full size. I do not use this every day, however Lapis usually makes her way to me every time I get my friendly female friend. I will make sure to use this and I truly find that it helps with any redness or breakouts I have going on. Lapis is high in Azulene, which is where this oil gets is blue color from naturally. Azulene helps to soothe dry irritated skin, reduce the appearance of redness and balance oily skin, so yes if you have oily skin, this OIL is actually good to use!

Favorite Face Oils for Combo Skin ☀️
I have sensitive and acne-prone combo skin that doesn’t do well with fragrance and requires lots of hydration and brightening. These are my favorite for that. These are the Leah Rose + Glow Facial Oil and the Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil by Volition 🌹 Rose + Glow 🔑 Key Ingredients: Squalane and Vitamin C Purpose- Hydration and brightening Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil 🔑 Key Ingredients: Hibiscus Oil, licorice root extract, sea buckthorn oil Purpose: Exfoliation, dark spots, discoloration, brightens and soothes I’ve been using these for a few months now and have noticed significant changes in my skin including a decrease in breakouts and a decrease in acne scars. Out of these two my favorite is the Leah Skin one. It has squalane and a stable form of Vitamin C so it lasts a long time and helps with acne scars a ton! It’s also super affordable and around $32 right now with the conversion rate. I’ve noticed significant changes in my skin redness from acne from this oil. I highly recommend these two for adding extra hydration to your routine and for spot correction. What’s your favorite clean oil? *I won the Leah oil in a giveaway and was gifted the Volition one as PR LEAH - ROSE+GLOW FACIAL OIL VOLITION - Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil #CheriePartner

HERBIVORE-Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil For Oily & Acne-Prone Skin
Today I'm sharing with you all an oil from dewy&bae that has a special place in my heart. This oil is so lightweight but very hydrating all at once. It soaks into the skin pretty quickly I noticed and it pairs well with all my other skincare products. A little bit goes such a long ways. I've been using this oil for a little over 2 weeks. This oil contains Chlorophyll, which is derived from Alfalfa sprouts, is a powerful blemish banisher and wound healer full of vitamins A, C, E and K. This would make sense why its been working so well on my skin. I've been having some minor breakouts and this oil is really helping heal them right up. The oil also contains squalane which is amazing because it doesn't clog the pores. It also contains neroli oil which is derived from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree, is a luxurious antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic oil. This oil works so well on my combination / sensitive skin. It doesn't have much of a scent which I also really like. The packaging is again really nice, it's glass and looks so luxurious. I would highly recommend checking out this oil if you love facial oils. This one is definitely an amazing one to try out. I think it would be great for all skin types because it's so gentle. I can definitely see a glow in my skin after just applying this after cleansing if I decided to skip some of my steps. You definitely cannot tell with this oil it's that good. 💚
