Mature Skin Night Routine
So with al the products out there, I enjoy shaking it up and trying new things!!!
I have begun a new routine!!
DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil this is my start. It does an excellent job of removing al my makeup, without striping my mature skin of moisture.
Murad - Renewing Cleansing Cream I use this as my second cleanse. I love the cream to foam feel. It too does an excellent job at keeping my skin hydrated.
The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% I use this every other day! I rotate this with the next product. I have been using this for about a month and I am loving how my skin is responding.
The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion I use this alternating days of the âbuffetâ. This is a thicker consistency and I like it. This is so far a bonus to my routine.
THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum this is my favorite hyaluronic acid at the moment. Iâm sure I will try others along the way, and love them too. This absorbs well and does not leave my skin tacky.
e.l.f. - Superhydrate Moisturizer I layer this right after my hyaluronic acid, which pulls moisture to the skin. This gives my hyaluronic acid the extra boost. This is a gel texture. I keep mine in my skin fridge and it feels like heaven on my skin.
CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream this is my final step!!! I canât live without this. This makes my skin so happy!! Mature skin peeps.... game changer! This keeps my skin full of hydration, gives my skin barrier exactly what it needs, and frankly since using this... my skin continues to look better and better!
LANEIGE - Lip Sleeping Mask - Mint Choco Chip I finish with this little gem! This comes in several varieties, this one is the one I was gifted. Iâm glad I was. Gives my kid hydration all night.
Hope my tips help! If you have any, I would love to hear them. Taking care of ur skin is a journey we all seek to perfect!!!

The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid
THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Ugh I donât understand what it is about me and straight Hyaluronic acid, but this one pilled up on me just like The Ordinaryâs Hyaluronic Acid, which really stinks because I had such high hopes! Iâm probably going to try and use it up and figure out if maybe thereâs something that Iâm using that makes it pill and if I do Iâll make an update! I just doing understand why I can use products like the Peach and Lily Glass Skin Serum which has Hyaluronic Acid in it but not just Hyaluronic acid. If anyone has any tips comment below! Theyâd be much appreciated đ

Love at first scoop
This moisturizer is bomb đŁ. I used it for 2 days now and I am obsessed. Iâve never seen a moisturizer just glide onto my skin and instantly I feel plump, smooth and recharged. It also calmed down any irritation and made my skin so calm. Itâs a CBD infused moisturizer which helps maintain the acid mantle.
What is the Acid Mantle? The acid mantle is a protective barrier produced by healthy skin that serves as a defense to block bacteria and other contaminants. Your acid mantle can be damaged by over cleansing, over exfoliation and the use of harsh acids (via Lord Jones website).
Whatâs in it:

LORD JONES - Acid Mantle Repair CBD Moisturizer
So far my skin has been so calm and soft. It looks so dewy and refreshed. I will keep using this just because I love the way it feels!
Have you tried CBD products for your skin?

Trending Ingredients: The (Mostly) Legit Ones!
Some trendy ingredients launch into understandable âcultâ status thanks to their grounding in research. Some are known for their benefits in other medical fields but are still substantiating their clinical efficacy in topical dermatology. But these three are my favourite âtrendyâ ingredients, with some example products included!
My Skin: Combo, Sensitive; Acne, Eczema.
Niacinamide is so popular now that you canât scroll without seeing mention of vitamin B3! At lower %, itâs an effective humectant and antioxidant that offers anti-inflammatory benefits for sensitive and/or irritated skin. At 4-5%+, niacinamide controls sebum (oil) production, minimizes pores, and has been (clinically) found to reduce acne. If the common 10% is too strong for you, dilute it 1:1 in another serum!
THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum $6.99 per 30mL, $0.23 per 1mL. The Inkey List produces my favourite budget niacinamide, beating fellow budget brands the Ordinary and Naturium. It forgoes potentially-irritating zinc pca to opt for a cocktail of humectants and allantoin to create a hydrating, soothing serum that fits into almost any routine.
CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It relies heavily on trend and assumptions, as transdermal benefit doesnât necessarily translate to topical. But CBD has promise in its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant potential, an appealing premise for use with sensitive skin and/or skin conditions like eczema and rosacea.
LORD JONES - Acid Mantle Repair CBD Moisturizer $75 per 50mL, $1.50 per 1mL. Each jar contains 250mg of CBD, so each mL should contain about 5mg of CBD. Is that enough to do much? Not sure, but as a sufferer of eczema, I opted to try this moisturizer on the cusp of a flare-up and was happy to see that it delivered on its claims of soothing! That may be simply because itâs a hardcore moisturizer, offering a heavy texture thatâs lusciously rich and almost balm-like. Mixing five ceramides, sunflower oil, squalane, cholesterol, and humectants make this a delightful moisturizer for those with dry or normal skin!
Retinol is a retinoid and is probably second only to Differin in clinically-backed OTC anti-aging treatments... itâs more of a re-emerging favourite than a trend! Retinoids help to increase cellular turnover and modulate keratinization, offering longer-term anti-aging results with some folks experiencing reduced acne breakouts!
DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream $74 per 30mL, $2.47 per 1mL. This silky yellow cream has a medicinal smell and is known for packing a punch. 1% Retinol pairs with carotenoids, peptides, antioxidants, fatty acids, and moisturizing oils to create a thin cream that soaks in quickly. I experienced dryness and some irritation, but canât lie that I did also find my skin a bit smoother and tone more even. It stands on equal footing to the Ordinaryâs Retinol 1% but is more cosmetically elegant.

Face update
Ok guys if you been following me my bumps are starting to dry up and now I have dark spots. My right side is completely healed and the left is my trouble side. After seeing my dermatologist for my follow up appointment she went up on the dose of the retinoid I use at night. If you are wondering my routine this is what I'm using. Also go look at my old pics to see where I started from. Neutrogena - Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask I love this as it dries out my bumps
LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser I use this at night and love how it's super light
CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion light way and keeps face moisturizer at night
elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I use the tinted version now great for black girls only in the morning and I do two fingers when I apply it
The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I just started using it super light weight. I started as a suggestion to help purging. Haven't told my dermatologist I'm using it but it has made the bumps on the right side calm down so so far so good. I'll update this to five stars after I have enough data to support if it really works.CeraVe - Healing Ointment I use when I experience dryness from the winter. A lot goes a long way .

3 products Iâm LOVING this week!!
I thought Iâd step on here and give my 3 fav products as of right now!
First up, elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46
I actually had this product recommended to me from my dermatologist! And... itâs amazing. I got the tinted version but there is a untinted one as well. At first I was nervous about the tint but actually really really like it! It blends well with my skin tone and adds a dewy light weight finish that I also look for in a product. I donât wear foundation, but this almost feels like one. It adds a nice layer of light coverage! Lastly, it is really really good for your skin! As it says on the container, it has niacinamide and some other great ingredients so âcalms and protects acne prone skinâ
Next we have, MAYBELLINE - Cheek Heat Gel-Cream Blush
This has been a huge mainstay in my makeup routine! I love a good cream blush and this lives up to all my expectations. Itâs dewy, bouncy, glowy, and has a beautiful pigment. I have in the shade âcoral emberâ which is a beachy coral! This product is great over makeup or alone, (I use it alone) I would say that a little goes a long way! And, this is a great dupe for Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek ColorOverall cheek heat is a really great product!
Last but certainly not least... ESTÄE LAUDER - Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
Now this actually isnât a very popular product however it works wonders for me!! It is a very gentle but very effective eye makeup remover. (I use on the rest of my face too!) This removes even waterproof mascara which is good for me! Maybe Iâll do a post on my fav mascaras in the future đ. For me, this is much better than GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Waterproof Makeup Remover which I found leaves my eyes oily and took out some of my lashes đŹ. But with esteeâs, I never woke up with leftover mascara in the morning so it is very very effective!!
Thank you so so much for reading!! Let me know what you think of these product down below! đ

Best New Vitamin C!
After many years of using SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum and loving the results but not the price, I decided it was time to try some other Vitamin C products. First I tried MAELOVE - Glow Maker which was priced very well and is commonly known as a dupe, but i found the brightening effect not to be as strong. After reading a lot of articles and seeing several âskinfluencersâ rave about it, I have been using BeautyStat COSMETICS - Universal C Skin Refiner for about 6 weeks and I love it! What makes it so special (aside from delivering all the vitamin C benefits I expect) is that the Vitamin C is encapsulated and suspended in the serum so that it stays fresh until it hits your skin. I will note that this serum is silicone based so if that is not something you like in a product you may want to consider something else. For me, this is a great, active, effective vitamin c at half the cost of my original fave.

My Favorite Serums for Combo Skin
I love serums and use at least two in my skincare routine every day! I have oily, combo skin that is breakout prone and hyperpigmentation. Serums help with all my concerns and are essential to my healthy skin goals!
Hydrating Serum - every skin needs hydration! Since I have oily, combo skin I like using a lightweight, gel based hydrating serum so it isn't too much for my skin to tolerate and doesn't lead to breakouts. Hydration is also key to fighting pigmentation! My favorite hydrating serum is the iS CLINICAL - Hydra-Cool Serum because the lightweight, cooling and adds that extra layer of hydration that I'm looking for. It's packed full of healing antioxidants like centella asiatica, vitamin B5 and kojic acid and safe for all skin types. iS Clinical is clinically proven and the prices reflect that - this serum retails for $94 for 1 oz. of product. I will repurchase this and do recommend it, but there are tons of fantastic hydrating serums that are way more affordable than this!
Treatment Serum - my favorite treatment serum is always going to be something to address my hyperpigmentation. It's my number one skin concern and I target it using Vitamin C. The BeautyStat COSMETICS - Universal C Skin Refiner is my go-to Vitamin C because it's backed by science, doesn't lose efficacy, and has lasted me months! It's also a high percentage vitamin C serum so the results happen fast! This product is safe for all skin types but because of the high percentage of vitamin C I would suggest sensitive skin test this product first! Retailing for $80 this Vitamin C is expensive, but in terms of high end Vitamin C serums it's on the lower side. I also always find discount codes for the brand and haven't bought it at full price yet! I'd absolutely recommend this Vitamin C, even over the beloved CE Ferulic by Skinceuticals.
CBD Serum - my favorite "oil" serum to use is CBD because it's a lightweight oil that sinks into the skin and doesn't leave an oily finish. CBD has tons of benefits for the skin, but I use it to calm and soothe my skin if it's irritated by breakouts or if I'm having an side effects from using a retinoid. My favorite CBD serum is the FLORA+BAST - Age Adapting CBD Serum that retails for $77 at Sephora. It's made of 100% TCH-free cannabis oil and even smells like that plant which I find extremely calming. I use it mostly in my night routine as my final step after all my other skincare and moisturizer. I would definitely recommend it! I only need a few drops for my face and neck, so haven't had to repurchase yet but will be soon!
All-Rounder Serum - this is the multitasking serum that does it all! For me this serum needs to be hydrating and support my moisture barrier, it's less focused on active ingredients. The LANCĂME - Advanced GĂŠnifique Youth Activating Serum does that for me! It's hydrating, anti-aging and supports my skin.

Pre-Gym Morning Skincare: Anti-Redness Routine!
Before I go to the gym, I try to keep it as simple as possible! But some mornings, I need to deviate from the moisturizer+sunscreen formula to add in some extra soothing ingredients for my sensitive combination skin. My skin is acne prone, so I layer lightweight serums to get the job done:
⢠NIOD - Modulating Glucosides utilizes a variety of nerd-worthy ingredients, that would take an entire post to list off and describe, to soothe skin from the inside-out, minimizing redness that stems from irritation. It has a uniquely plopping texture that manages to be entirely a serum yet have a creamy consistency. A good moisture boost without causing shininess.
⢠PAULA'S CHOICE - CBD Skin Transformative Treatment Milk is a delightfully milky, lightweight serum that soaks in quickly for a dose of moisturizing oils, hydrating humectants, and soothing CBD and centella asiatica extract amongst a variety of antioxidants. Always fantastic to apply the morning after tret!
⢠PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 is my hands-down favourite sunscreen. It doesnât last through sweating, so Iâd only use it pre-workout if you workout inside and plan on reapplying sunscreen after! It is extremely lightweight, closer to a watery serum than a traditional liquid sunscreen! It soaks in quickly, offering intense hydration and soothing power thanks to a bunch of antioxidants, including two green tea extracts and vitamin e.

My Current Morning Routine
âď¸ My routines are pretty prone to changing but one constant is that I always like to focus on protecting and nourishing my skin with antioxidants and obviously a sunscreen. These are my current morning favorites:
âď¸ Alta Mara Hydrating Coconut Cleanser: Just as the name suggests, itâs a lovely gentle milky cleanser.
âď¸ Klairs Supple Preparation Toner: A lovely hydrating toner rich in amino acids, centella, licorice root, and hyaluronic acid.
âď¸ Byroe Bitter Greens Toner Essence: If this was a little cheaper I would never be without it. This contains 22 fruit and vegetable extracts and is chock full of antioxidants making my skin super soft and glowy.
âď¸ Farmacy Cheer Up Eye Cream: A lightweight whipped texture vitamin c eye cream.
âď¸ Rosen Bright Citrus Serum: A very watery consistency (like actually the exact consistency of water) abscorbic acid vitamin c serum.
âď¸ Mauve Fantastic Ever Youth Producer Serum: A hydrating antioxidant serum containing hyaluronic acid, sugar kelp, hemp seed extract, and orchid extract.
âď¸ Sunday Riley CEO Glow: Another vitamin c but put it in an oil base with some turmeric!! I love this stuff it gives me the softest glowiest skin.
âď¸ Krave Oat So Simple Water Cream: A nice hydrating lightweight moisturizer.
âď¸ Purito Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen: Just an amazing lightweight sunscreen thatâs super affordable and has a bunch of centella in it.
Post-Gym AM Skincare Routine: Soothe + Balance
Sweat plus heat and chafing makes a cocktail of maskne and irritation for my sensitive skin, so I focus on calming ingredients and layering lightweight hydration. My combo skin loves layered products since itâs less likely to clog my pores than one heavy product yet really hydrates my drier areas. This routine is added fragrance- and essential oil-free, as I avoid those two categories of ingredients.
⢠CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser is a gentle cleanser that allows me to scrub off sweat and previously applied sunscreen without stripping my skin or overcleansing. Its humectants start binding water into my skin, making it wonderful when my skin feels hot/chafed.
⢠The Ordinary - Marine Hyaluronics uses marine-derived humectants and amino acids to help pull water into skin, without the tacky finish of their HA serum. Love this for how lightweight it is, it layers beautifully with other serums with no pilling and mixes well with anything I want to dilute!
⢠PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster minimizes pores, reduces the prevalence of acne, increases collagen synthesis, and controls oil production. This is my HG, my âif you could only use oneâ serum, so fantastic. It is so, so calming too, making it fantastic for angry skin.
⢠PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum is a light serum-lotion that contains multiple ceramides, a variety of emollients (oils, shea butter, etc), and fatty acids to augment the skin barrier. Supporting the skin barrier reduces the likelihood of skin issues like irritation, dryness, and even acne since acne can be linked to inflammation!
⢠VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream contains squalane oil, aloe vera, green tea extract, and jojoba oil- the aloe vera specifically comes through heavily in this refreshing, bouncy gel that skin soaks up easily. Oily skin would especially benefit from the lightweight water-dominant formula. Tip: put it in the fridge if youâre using it at home, itâs cooling and so good during the summer.
⢠PURITO - Comfy Water Sun Block is an oily skin gift! Itâs a medium-weight cream thatâs mostly water, utilizing zinc oxide as its sun-protectant active to make this a surprisingly lightweight mineral sunscreen. Iâve not noticed a white cast and it has a semi-matte finish that minimizes shine but doesnât make skin flat.

Hanskin - Pore Cleansing Oil PHA use this as my first cleanser. First time I used it I broke out, but now it is good. Very nice texture and help remove makeup very easily. Also it has pump which makes it convenient!
Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser Holy Grail cleanser! Packed with antioxidants and soothing ingredients that wonât strip your skin!!
acwell - Licorice pH Balancing Essence Mist I use this as a toner and in between steps for added hydration. Love this mist so much, it really helps brighten and Sooth your skin! You can get it from @sokoglam

#Paulaâs Choice - RESIST- Anti-aging Clear Skin Hydrator[products]#[FourStars]
Moisturizer at moment. Just started using it and so far is good. Nothing impressive yet but it has vitamin C and niacinamide so hoping it helps with my hyperpigmentation!
PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster love love love! I actually use this as a spot treatment (last step of my am/pm routines) on affected areas and it helps vanish blemish rather quickly (if not hormonal)

Products I Use Instead of Drunk Elephant
Yes Iâm a fan of DE products but at the end of the day, their prices are SO high and itâs unnecessary to have a good skincare routine. Over time, Iâve found myself preferring other brands for specific items and they also happen to be cheaper. I wouldnât call these exactly dupes, but theyâre not the furthest from it.
đ Lala Retro
Sure. This moisturizer is nice and heavy and the new formula now has Ceramides in it. It also has 6 rare African oils too. But itâs also $60 for 1.69 oz and for something I need to use nightly, thatâs just not an ideal price point for what youâre getting.
đAlternate: Healing Ointment by CeraVe
Yes. You read that correctly. I was skeptical at first but after seeing glowing recommendations and noting that it has Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides, I gave it a try. For $12 for 5oz this is HIGHLY affordable and honestly, it rocked my life. This product is highly hydrating, doesnât break me out at all, and even seems to be a great partner for my drying retinol. My skin looks better than before and I give this little drugstore find serious credit for that. The product is still on after a full nightâs rest too and has helped me with dry spots on my body as well. Seriously try this!
đ2. TLC Framboos
At $134 for 1.69 oz, I look back on this purchase and genuinely feel like I let myself be robbed. Sure, this product is packed with lots of acids that are great for resurfacing the skin including AHA, BHA, lactic acid, etc. but honestly, my results were never to die for and that price tag is insane.
đAlternate: Honeymoon Glow by Farmacy
At $58 for 1oz, this is still fairly pricey but this brand unlike DE does regular sales and puts this in kits where you can save money too. This is a gorgeous resurfacing night serum with AHA, gentle flower acids and honey. It does also give me a glow in the morning! Iâve seen better and more immediate results from this product and would grab this before TLC Framboos any day. This also seems to work for my breakouts more.
đUmbra Tinte
This just isnât it for me. At $36 for 2 oz and SPF 30, Iâm just not in love with this product compared to a few cheaper finds. If youâre going to go for tinted sunscreen Supergoop has several alternatives like Matte Screen.
đAlternate: Centella Green Level Unscented Screen
At $16 for 2oz and SPF 50, this is my favorite by far! It doesnât leave skin feeling sticky at all, thereâs no white cast and it is calming for the skin. This is also reef-safe. Like I said, this isnât necessarily a dupe for the DE product but this is a way better sunscreen in my opinion and is almost half of the price. This is almost like a moisturizer and makes my skin feel so smooth. It also doesnât feel gross reapplying this throughout the day. I love it!
