My trick for completely covering dark circles!🙈

kalen.loves
I have always had pretty prominent dark circles due to genetics and no doubt lack of sleep! Through a ton of trial and error I have found a routine and products that work really well for me to cover my dark circles almost completely (I do have slight hallows which makes it look like a dark circle). Surprising I use 4-5 products to achieve this look. •First I use a warm (as in orangey) red lipstick. Yes, lipstick. It counteracts the blueish tones under your eyes. Trust me. This is the step that is a game changer. I use Kosas - Weightless Lip Color
but any warm toned red lipstick will work. I mainly focus this on the inner part of my eye where I have the most darkness. (I also use this under my nostrils because I have slight shadowing there). •I next use BECCA - Under Eye Brightening Corrector
and it is much lighter and peachier than the lipstick. This is great to use on top of the lipstick to blend together. It is much more emollient and easier to work with. This has light reflecting particles to help brighten the eye even further. •I then use two concealers on top of those. Currently I am using a light shade of DOSE OF COLORS - Meet Your Hue Concealer
This concealer is easy to work with. Super creamy and has minimal creasing. I only apply a small dot to my inner eye with this one. •I then use a warmer-more yellow shade (Snow) of Too Faced - Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer
on the outer edge of my eye and in the mid part of my cheek (this allows for a brightened inner face and less product under the eye the better). I then use a beauty blender to blend these two completely. Blend up under the eye and out the inner corner as well. •My last step is to set this all down!! My favorite powders to use are laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder
and Charlotte Tilbury - Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder
Both are great for setting the face. I like to bake with the LM powder since it is a loose powder and it’s easier to use product. Hope this helps. 🥰 #cheriepartner

🤪Glowy natural makeup when I’m late😌 (~10min)
SKIN TYPE: Very dry skin, eczema, sensitive and acne-prone all at the same time🙃🙃 Sometimes using prescribed cortisteroid ointments (Novasone) for eczema flare ups or reactions. PRODUCTS USED (in order): Primer I use e.l.f. - Poreless Putty Primer , it’s so cheap but acts as a nice bond/barrier between skin after skincare routine and applying makeup; it’s so good in preventing drying out my skin but it’s not very hygienic as fluff or dust gets stuck. Usually patting the primer into the skin and waiting a moment for it to melt into the skin. Foundation is a cushion #CHANEL - Vitalumiére Glow[products]#[FourStars] (#21), gives a shine upon application while still looking like natural skin. It’s a light to medium coverage and I find it doesn’t cling to my dry patches. I don’t use concealer most of the time but I do use the powder Charlotte Tilbury - Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder to set under the eyes, smile lines, nose contour area, chin and forehead. I don’t produce much oil through the day at all but I do sweat and the powder helps set makeup while still looking natural and doesn’t take away the glow too much. For the price though, there might be better cheaper alternatives🥺. Brows I usually use the innisfree - Auto Eyebrow Pencil or the ETUDE - Tint My Brows Gel New +benefit - 24-Hour Brow Setter Clear Brow Gel, the tint can last ~2-3 days so it saves time if I’ve already filled in and drawn my brows the night before😂. The only con is that on initial application the tint looks green-ish in the camera. #NARS - Original blush - Orgasm[products]#[FourStars] for the slight golden shimmer enhancing the glow of the cushion foundation, usually building it up for a slightly brighter flush of colour on the cheeks as the colour doesn’t show too much when you first apply it. Highlight usually the FENTY mini Kilowatt highlight in the shade Hustla Baby, it’s a golden sheen that really blends in with my skin tone and not too glittery while also blends in with the NARS blush. If I’m feeling extra then also lightly adding in the FENTY mini Diamond Bomb highlight. Eyeliner is the brownUZ - Eye Opening Liner Usually use various lengthening falsies or innisfree - Skinny Microcara Last but most crucial thing for me is the URBAN DECAY - All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray , it really pulls the whole look together, adding back some shine where I’ve powdered thus making the whole look more natural. Also with the spray I don’t have to worry about the makeup transferring or fading/melting away during the day unless 8+ hours. Lip products include: CHANEL - Rouge Coco Flash Lipstick(#212) #CHANEL - Rouge Allure Laque[products]# romand - Glasting Water Tint 6 Colors FENTY BEAUTY - Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer FENTY BEAUTY - Diamond Bomb Baby Mini Lip Gloss and Highlighter Set

Acne Cover up Pro Tip
My go to makeup tip is for when I get acne. I like putting concealer on the pimple and blending out with my finger then applying foundation then another concealer layer then add powder to lock it in. I start with the CATRICE COSMETICS - Liquid Camouflage Concealer then go in with any foundation followed by FLOWER - Light Illusion Full Coverage Concealer my holy grail concealer then I go with Charlotte Tilbury - Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder to set! It camouflages the pimple and redness all day!

a lovely, lovely setting powder
I’ve tried a number of setting powders, but none of them live up to this one! The laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder is a lovely translucent powder that doesn’t settle into fine lines, that helps to absorb that excess oil, and that sets my makeup. This setting powder comes in translucent (for very fair to medium skin tones), honey (for medium skin tones with olive, warm, and golden undertones), and translucent medium deep (for medium deep to deep skin tones). I have the translucent shade and I don’t find it to be too light for my medium skin tone, rather it just kind of blends in with my skin tone. I like that it absorbs excess grease on my face, but also doesn’t smother my face or clog my pores. Highly recommend!

Glow-from-within look ✨✨✨
Before getting this look down with make up, I used these products to prep my face for the day after cleansing and using my niacinamide treatment: The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA prepped my dry skin perfectly for the day. Normally I don’t initially reach for something with hyaluronic acid in my environment, but it was surprisingly humid this day in LA! So I knew the formula was gonna pay off for my usually dry skin. First I applied my Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 and it is THE best for protection and multi-tasks as the best velvety finish primer for makeup. I have a whole post dedicated to this product alone! Next I waited for that moisturizer to dry, then applied BECCA - Under Eye Brightening Corrector I’ve dabbed with my fingers and have to be precise with it, but it applies best with a blender/ sponge. After that set, I applied my bareMinerals - Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick Broad Spectrum SPF 25 and it blurred out ALL THE THINGS I needed it to blur out *cough cough pores, cough cough* Then, along the edges of my forehead, near my ears and outer cheeks, went for the tarte - Limited Edition Buff & Bronze Body Kabuki Brush and blended out the foundation and bronzer together for a soft sunkissed look. For the highlighter under the eyebrows and above the cheeks, I used the BECCA - Pop Goes the Glow Champagne Pop Face & Eye Palette and man is this another multi-tasking item! Applied the darkest color along the center of my my eyelids by the crease, and the pinkish color along the top of my eyelids by my eyelashes. To top things off, I went for it with my tarte - Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara and while I love the application and lengthening, don’t love that it runs easily. Definitely consider a drugstore mascara, never underestimate those! Let me know if you have any questions and what you love to use to pull off that “glow from within” look for the day!

My fool proof routine for the perfect base!
Forming a base routine can be so tricky, time consuming, and expensive! Especially with my combo skin! When I wear foundation this is the routine I follow. After my skincare has had a few minutes to soak in, I start with sunscreen! Sunscreen over long term use is going to help your skin look more even and bright! It’s so much easier to get the glass skin effect when you don’t have dark spots or an uneven tan. I’ve been using the LANCÔME - Absolue Premium BX Regenerating and Replenishing Care SPF 15 Skincare but there are certainly cheaper options out there! (I’m a big fan of the COOLA - Classic Face Sunscreen Moisturizer SPF 50 ) Next, I spread the LANEIGE - Glowy Makeup Serum all over my face. It’s very emollient and spreads easily on the face without being oily, so I feel comfortable even using this around my t zone! Then I fill in my pores with the e.l.f. - Poreless Putty Primer Moving my finger in circular motions I apply this to my t zone: inner cheeks, center of the forehead and chin. This is typically when I would apply eyeshadow, but I only used one shade in my crease today to focus on the face. It’s the ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Norvina Eyeshadow Palette shades Love and Incense mixed. Then I move to the under eyes. I use the BECCA - Under Eye Brightening Corrector Because I am fair to light and have a pink - neutral undertone this works as a concealer for me! If you are yellow or strictly neutral this may not work for you! I use my finger to gently pat this on my under eye starting towards the inner corner and blending outward. Next is foundation. I use the AOA studio - AOA Wonder Blender This is the best beauty blender dupe I’ve ever found and it’s only like $1. I pump two pumps of the ESTĒE LAUDER - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation on the back of my hand and start blending it out using a sponge. I do make sure to blend it on down my neck so I don’t get a foundation line. I am in the shade Ecru. Then I dip into my NATASHA DENONA - Diamond & Blush Palette . Still using the sponge, I blend the cream blush (top middle shade) into my cheeks starting at the top of my cheekbone towards the hairline. This helps prevent getting a lot of product in the middle of your face where we want to bring light! With my finger I blend the cream highlight (top left) over the blush at the very top of my cheekbone. I usually line this up with the outer corner of my eye. If you’re a bronzer person like me, you can apply bronzer using a fluffy brush to your temples, nose, and outer perimeter of your forehead. I use the BECCA - Sunlit Bronzer because it has a sheen that makes it look so natural! This is the shade Bronzed Bondi. I finish by dusting a light amount of the Coty Airspun Powder #cheriepartner

Try this tinted moisturizer for a glow!
COLOURPOP - Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Tinted Moisturizer I got this tinted moisturizer a while back at Ulta. I got it on sale for I think $9. It was so reasonably priced that I didn’t have very high expectations. I like using the bareMinerals - Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 but it’s much more expensive. I was very surprised at how well the pretty fresh tinted moisturizer worked! I like it just as much as the bare minerals. It provides nice light to medium coverage. It doesn’t have the spf like the bare minerals but I use a separate spf either way so I don’t mind! I definitely think the COLOURPOP - Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Tinted Moisturizer is worth a try, especially at such a great price point! Also if anyone is wondering I’m also wearing Kosas - Weightless Lip Color in Undone and Kosas - Color & Light: Pressed Powder Blush & Highlighter Duo in Contrachroma.

The Perfect “No-Makeup” Makeup Product
The Perfect “No-Makeup” Makeup Product
I’m not really one for foundation. I usually use a very light foundation if I do wear some — i.e. The Ordinary’s serum foundation. I’m unfortunately a “face toucher” so I can’t be bothered with face make up very often. I usually slap on concealer and bronzer in terms of face make up. With that being said, I’ve been loving the Graydon products I currently have and when I saw that they had a tinted moisturizer primer I had to try it. I read so many good reviews! GRAYDON - Face Glow For 40 mL this cost $24 CAD. I find I only use a tiny bit so the 40 mLs will last me a while. 🍁(PS it’s on sale. Regularly priced at $46 CAD)🍁 After my skincare I’ll pop this onto my face like I would any normal moisturizer. I use such a small amount and find it blends in beautifully. You can use a sponge or a brush but I’m lazy so I just use my fingers lol. This is perfect for a “no makeup” makeup look. The tint is gorgeous and gives me a healthy glow/complexion. Your skin looks radiant without looking like you’re wearing anything! I think it could work on most skin tones if you also wanted to just apply it as a highlight to your cheek bones or brow bones, or even under makeup as an actual primer. My concealer sits nicely over top of this and doesn’t cake or crease :) And with my bronzer I get a nice sun-kissed glow. I haven’t noticed any break outs, which is always good! 👌🏻 Haha! Why It’s Amazing: + It firms skin and improves elasticity with semi-precious smithsonite +Your skin glows with mineral-rich sustainably sourced mica +It brightens your complexion with ellagic acid rich raspberry seed oil +It minimizes the appearance of dark circles and spots with nutrient rich spirulina +It soothes your skin with aloe vera juice and zinc-rich pumpkin seed oil +It renews your look with skin nurturing sea buckthorn seed oil +It shields your face against the elements with non-nano zinc +It protects your skin from environmental stressors with rich buriti oil 100% recommend ❤️

A $7 Concealer Worth Trying
A $7 Concealer Worth Trying
Yesterday I was rushing out the door for work and realized on my drive that I remembered everything except to put on my usual mascara and concealer. I decided to stop and grab any old concealer because that’s the one makeup product I can’t leave the house without (well, can leave the house without but don’t want to lol). I can do without mascara for a 12 hour night shift at the hospital though. I stopped at Walmart and decided to try the e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer because the price was right and the shade seemed relatively close to my favourite Too Faced Born This Way concealer. My Thoughts: + Concealer is light-weight. It claims to be full-coverage but I found it more sheer than other full-coverage concealers I’ve tried + It comes in a lot of shades which is great (28 I think!). I don’t think I picked up my exact shade but it was close enough when I was in a pinch. I grabbed the light beige. + It’s a satin-finish which I liked + It blends nicely at first. I did notice a tiny bit of creasing after a few hours of wear, but nothing anyone would notice unless you were looking for it haha + It’s hydrating! There’s nothing worse than a concealer that dries out your under eye area + The price is right. $7 CAD and you get a decent amount of product + I think this concealer oxidizes so be mindful of that I would definitely repurchase this product, although it wouldn’t be my number 1 concealer. I need to find my correct shade haha :)

Battle of the Concealers
Battle of the Concealers
Last week, I rated the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer and today I decided to compare it to the Smashbox Studio Finish Flawless Concealer I received a few days later. The Maybelline retails for $10 and the Smashbox is $26 at Ulta, though I paid $16 from Zulily.. Both are medium coverage, buildable concealers. The Maybelline has a better applicator and is easier to apply just the right amount, which you can see in the second picture. (Maybelline right, Smashbox left) Both concealers are a good weight for aging skin and don’t settle into fine lines. However, once everything is blended in, Smashbox is the clear winner. It covers my dark circles much better. That’s not to say the Maybelline is a bad product. I will probably still purchase if I am at the drugstore and need to pick up a concealer.

Meh 🧐
Meh 🧐
Is there someone out there who has not heard of this product? *crickets chirping* A little goes a looooong way and this tiny tube will last so so long. I just use a tiny bit in the areas I need some help. Then use a beauty blender or brush or my fingers whatever. Honestly my thoughts are that it’s just okay. It’s a concealer that conceals. I wasn’t blown away. It did it’s job though. However for the price I think there are plenty of cheaper dupes. Also if you have sensitive skin I’d steer clear because of the fragrance and ingredients included for scent only. So do I think this is worth it? Meh. It does photograph pretty well. Close up ehhhh it can settle into pores and lines/wrinkles.

Review: Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer
I decided to try this concealer, because I needed a new concealer and I had heard good things about this one, both here and elsewhere. I purchased from CVS, where it retails for $10.29. But I had coupons and Extracare Bucks, so I got it for $2. They have 18 shades. I am using light honey. I applied to half of my face so you can see how it works. I would call this a medium coverage, but the formula feels very light and does not settle into the fine lines around my eyes like some heavier concealers can. I normally use a color corrector under my concealer, but did not in the photos above. I did try this one with my color corrector yesterday and they blended well. When I first opened the package, it took a minute to get the product up in the sponge applicator. But after that, I had no issues with this product. It is definitely worth the money, even if you pay full price.

Who needs sleep when I have this?
The BECCA - Under Eye Brightening Corrector really helps me achieve a natural makeup look! It’s almost like a balm in texture and has a light salmon color. The light salmon color is perfect for canceling out dark circles for people of my skin tone! It really brightens without having to add a thick layer of concealer which can look super heavy! I would recommend this for anyone with fair/light to medium complexions who love having easy to apply, reliable and natural base makeup. FYI this does need to be set with a powder or it will be crease city!
