from stick straight | to beach waves 〰️ pt. 1
I’m still getting the hang of my new hair length, but one of my favorite styles already are these beachy waves! I use a ceramic styler from remington that seems to be discontinued, but there are a lot of similar options out there! my barrel is 1 and 1/2 inches, and I found it at target for really cheap. I get the best results on dirty hair, because otherwise my hair is too poofy for my liking. as such, I love the NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo

Let’s discuss dry shampoo! 😘
Gotta love dry shampoo!!! Especially my girls with extensions because you shouldn’t wash your hair as often because you could damage them. Even if you want to start washing your hair less because it is healthier for it and saves you time, try dry shampoo!!! I used to think it didn’t work for me, but I gave it a little time for my hair to get used to it (some embarrassing days of greasy hair... but I was staying at home from the quarantine stuff so it wasn’t too embarrassing lol). Now my hair can handle going without washing for a bit. I have tried all these dry shampoos.... and my favorite has to be the Redken, REDKEN - Deep Clean Dry Shampoo I splurged on some other brands... the amika: - Perk Up Talc-Free Dry Shampoo and the Klorane dry shampoo KLORANE - Dry Shampoo With Oat Milk For All Hair Types , and honestly, they weren’t worth the extra money. I thought they would be better than the cheap ones I have been buying but I wasn’t too impressed. The Zero Fuss texturizing dry shampoo was just gross. Didn’t smell good. Left a weird tint in my hair. And it just didn’t even soak up the oil. I would give that one 0 stars if I could! ☹️ I do really like the NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Clean Freak Tapioca Dry Shampoo NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo I will continue to purchase these because they smell so good and they also are a very decent price!! And I think they honestly work better than the expensive brands. Anyways, back to the Redken dry shampoo. I seriously love it!!! It smells soooooo amazing, so fresh and clean! I seriously feel rich when I wear it haha!! It smells like I just had an expensive day at the salon like no kidding. It is just very pricey and didn’t last me very long, especially because my hair gets so greasy and oily. I recommend using just the Not Your Mother’s brand as your base and spray over the top with the Redken to get that extra scent that is so great 😁I just use it minimally because it cost me like $24! Ugh. The Not Your Mother’s only cost me $7, and it honestly lasts me such a long time and I use it daily and use a ton of it. That is all on my advice on dry shampoos! Save your money and just buy Not Your Mother’s. If you’re feeling fancy, spray a little of the Redken kind but just a bit if you are on a tight budget like me. Oh! I almost forgot about COLAB - Original Dry Shampoo I do really love this one!!!! I gave it 5 stars because it doesn’t leave any white residue like most of the dry shampoos. The scent is pretty fresh and great, too! And the cost is great! Under $6.
Dry Bar- Worth the hype? Pt. 2
drybar - Detox Dry Shampoo Lush Scent I had some rewards to spend at Ulta and wanted to try something new, I liked the smell of my other Dry Bar product. I had been to a dry bar “salon” with my sister and thought that the employees there did good work and I thought their products must be great, but I was wrong to think all of that. Pros: This is a dry shampoo, it does take some the oil out of your hair Works best if you allow it to sit overnight Cons: This product is your classic dry shampoo, it leave a white powder in your hair It stinks! I though lush would be their classic scent but it is just completely overpowering I just would not recommend this product, it doesn’t not do enough for a $$ product. Conclusion: Dry Bar is not worth the hype. Better Alternatives: R+Co - Death Valley Dry Shampoo NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo
Lazy to clean your hair every day? This is for you!😍
Lazy to clean your hair everyday? This is for you! My hair is a little bit oily but the end of hair is kind of dry, and I believe that most of people have the same problem with me. Honestly, I’m not a diligent girl, and I heard that we can’t wash hair everyday if we have long hair, cause it will take away the protected cover of our hair, and makes the hair dryer at the hair tip. In this case, my hair will not seem that fresh and airy the second day after washing hair. What do we do if we have to meet someone at once? This time, you need something quick and efficiency. I heard of dry shampoo many years ago, and have tried a lot of products, but my favorite is KLORANE - Dry Shampoo with Nettle Oil Control. This is a French hair care brand, and they also have many great shampoo and hair care products. How this product works? This hair dry shampoo also contains powder that likes other dry shampoo, and it use this dry powder to absorb the oil from the scalp. The spray is smooth and even, and it is not white powder but pink, so that the powder is not very obvious on the hair. How to use it? The method of using it is very easy. The only thing you have to do is press the top, and rub the powder in hair until it totally spreads evenly. I forget to say that there is a tip. When you spray the powder, remember to cover your face or nose and mouth, because I always think that this tiny powder will be inhaled in our body. Just in case. Is this product works well? After applying this powder on hair, my hair looks loose and fresh. It likes that I just finish a shower, and have used a really good treatment. This dry shampoo will not make the hair look dry, but with glowing effect. I feel that my hair looks smoother than it looks before. This is a not very popular brand, but I highly recommend this product if you are a lazy girl like me. You will be surprised!

thick hair tips!
I have extremely thick hair. every stylist I ever went to before my current salon would always take thinning shears and just go to town. over time, I’ve learned certain tricks for my thick hair and I’m happy to share them with any other thick haired people in need of some advice! 1. first tip, is washing my hair less. this will not work for everyone, as even within certain hair densities there’s factors that can cause your hair and scalp to be different than mine. but for me, washing my hair every 2-3 days is completely normal and best for my hair. I don’t get oily or greasy hair, so when I’m not going to wash it, I simply wear a shower cap! 2. blow outs!! on wash days, I always blow my hair out if I want to extend the style. I’ve talked about my mini amika dryer and how powerful it is, I absolutely LOVE it. using this little one and a paddle brush, I blow out my hair. sometimes I style it, sometimes I don’t. this is nice because since I won’t be washing it again for a few days, I reduce the heat I use vs. if I washed and styled my hair everyday! 3. dry shampoo—there are all kinds of dry shampoo out there. find what works best for you!! since I recently cut my hair, I opted for a texturizing one that gives me volume in addition to absorbing excess oil. these are only a couple tips that have truly made a huge difference in my hair routine. I know having thick hair can be frustrating, but it also comes with a lot of benefits! learn what works best for your hair, and love it!! #

How to Survive Second Day Hair
Second day hair can sometimes feel and look the worst – but it doesn’t need to be if you manage it properly. It’s difficult making sure your hair washing days line up with your gym schedule or days you actually might have to look presentable. All you need is a good trusty dry shampoo and some hair styling tips to get away with it (I won’t tell if you don’t!).Make sure to brush out your hair! It sounds obvious but sometimes I skip this step in the mornings (and I bet some of you reading do too!). One of my favourite brushes is this wide toothed wooden comb I bought from Amazon. It’s super gentle on the hair and can detangle any knots perfectly without any tugging. I switched to a wooden comb because I noticed my hair was getting extremely static a few months ago from the previous brush I had been using which had plastic bristles. I haven’t looked back since! A good dry shampoo goes a long way. One of my favourites is this cherry dry shampoo by Batiste. It’s super easy to work into the hair, great for building volume and leaves the hair smelling fruity and fresh. It great for absorbing any grease and gives my hair that boost that it needs, leaving it feeling clean all day. Curl your hair – I’m not sure about you but I’ve realised that curls work best on second day hair (and look the best too). They just hold so much better and for longer (even without hair spray). It’s great for adding some volume back into your hair that you might have lost after sleeping on it throughout the night. Make sure to use a heat protective spray before curling with a wider barrel for looser curls. Follow up with a volumising hair spray to hold your curls in and give it an extra lift.
how to revive unwashed hair (swipe for before!)
when I need to make my hair style last, this is my favorite duo! OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam is unlike anything I’ve ever tried. the mousse satisfies the “wet” feeling you get from showering, but it dissipates quickly to leave clean, dry hair!! amika: - The Shield Anti-Humidity Spray this is awesome right before styling—it adds protection to heat, as well as helps maintain a frizz-free look all day!! tennessee summer approved! these steps are super easy, but really effective. the added volume of the dry shampoo makes your hair look freshly washed! anyone can do it!

caring for straight(ish) hair
Today I want to talk about how I’ve learned to care for my hair, which isn’t stick straight but usually isn’t *super* wavy either. It can also get pretty oily in the summer; I have oily skin on my face, and the two typically go together. First, I tend to wash my hair every day. I know some people are very against this, but it’s what works for me! Since my hair is pretty straight and thin, it tends to get weighed down with product and I hate the feeling of sleeping on it. So I wash it every night. When my hair is wet, I comb out any tangles with a wide-toothed comb. I’ve found this results in way less breakage than if I comb or brush my hair when it’s dry. I use a wooden comb that was a gift, so I’m unsure of what brand it is, but there are lots of great wide-toothed combs out there. I rarely blow dry my hair. I used to blow dry it every day in high school so it would be stick straight, but thankfully that’s not the look anymore 🙃 It’s straight enough without subjecting it to unnecessary heat every day, and heat also makes hair brittle and more prone to breakage unless you use proper heat protectant products. If I do blow dry my hair, I use amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray to protect from heat and add extra volume and shine. I’ve reviewed this before, but just to recap: I love it! A little goes a long way to add just the right amount of volume to my hair. I’ll be honest: I haven’t been styling my hair much at all since I’ve been working from home since March 😬 Most days it’s just a scrunchie ponytail for me. I’ll occasionally add some Batiste - Batiste Dry Shampoo or SACHAJUAN - Dark Volume Powder to add some volume to my roots—both of these are great for making my roots look lifted, and I’m recommend them to anyone with straight hair in need of a little volume and texture.
