Prevent Acne!! Acne MIRACLE worker??
Neutrogena - Rapid Clear, Stubborn Acne, Daily Leave-On Mask I’d heard a lot about this product and how it was a miracle product for acne and so, as a person prone to acne myself, I decided to give it a try! Many people raved about how this mask cleared or lessened their acne within just one night, and unfortunately, that was not the experience I personally had with this product:( However, everyone’s skin is different and different products work well on different people. My younger brother is in his teenage years and is facing a lot of hormonal acne due to puberty. He found this product to work MUCH better on his skin than it did on mine. His current pimples did get smaller and less red over night and within a few days, almost disappeared. Although this mask does not clear my acne, it is still useful to me. Know that horrible feeling when you can physically FEEL a big and painful pimple growing under your skin and you know it’s gonna surface soon?? 🤧 Well, whenever I feel this and realize I’m about to get a new pimple, I start applying this mask in that area and most of the time, it prevents the pimple from actually appearing!! So even if this mask doesn’t clear my existing acne, it helps prevent new pimples from surfacing, which is still a GOLDEN use for this product! For this reason, along with the fact that this product has worked so well for so many others, I give it 4 stars! If you have acne prone skin, I definitely recommend trying this product. It’s not very expensive so there’s not much to lose and it might be a great investment for your skin!!
Skincare 101: Exfoliation Basics
Exfoliation is the best way to slough away debris and dead skin cells that are sitting on top of your skin and can clog your pores. Exfoliation speeds up cell turnover. If done correctly, it leaves you with healthier and happier looking skin, and makes moisturizing and applying actives more effective. There are two types of exfoliators: 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 ~ are body scrubs and products formulated with grainy particles that provide the actual scrubbing sensation. I think the best physical exfoliating method is, still, the use of 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡 — which most of us already have at home. Gentlest of them all, and is even safe to use nightly. Simply dampen the washcloth in warm water, add your cleanser, and rub in small circles beginning at the forehead and working your way down - be sure to use medium pressure. I also love 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐞𝐥𝐬. My favorites are Cure - Natural Aqua Gel and Pyunkang Yul - Pyunkang Yul Peeling Gel . While they don’t exactly fall under the category of physical or chemical exfoliators , I find them innovatively helpful and safe even for sensitive skin. Peeling gels use high acidity ingredients and utilizes a blend of surfactants like dicocodimonium chloride and carbomers that help to bind oils together to attract and remove dead skin. I also enjoy using facial scrubbers like the DERMAFLASH - Dermapore Ultrasonic Pore Extractor & Serum Infuser 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 ~ use acids such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or retinoid to mildly exfoliate deeper the skin. One of the main benefits of chemical exfoliation is that it does not require scrubbing, so it’s less likely to cause major irritation to the skin. I have written about AHAs and BHAs in my recent posts -- do check them out if you’d like to learn more about the ingredients🙈Most results aren’t seen until 4-8 weeks with chemical exfoliators. Some of my favorites are: Neutrogena - Rapid Clear, Stubborn Acne, Daily Leave-On Mask PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream Curology - Curology formula Still not sure how to exfoliate? you can actually use both a chemical and physical exfoliator if you’d like to. I personally find alternately using two types beneficial for me (don’t overdo it!). Skincare is a tough job. It’s best to listen to your skin, try out different methods, and you’ll learn what works best for you eventually❤️

The best sunscreen for dry skin☀️
Y’all… Let me tell you how dry my skin gets. My skin gets so dry that it looks like my skin is actually flaking. I have struggled with dry skin my entire life and I hardly find any products that truly help my skin. I reached out to a friend who gave me a skin care routine and she suggested this sunscreen PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ it is honestly the best! Not only is it scent free but it hydrates my skin without burning it. I have high sensitivity to a lot of products and this is one that doesn’t make my skin irritated or break out. If you struggle with dry skin, try out this sunscreen! Not only does it help with the dryness but also you should always be protecting your face with sunscreen!!!
Battle of the sunscreens ☀️🧴
Ever since the purito ‘scandal’ I went into a sunscreen shopping spree and tried a few. PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ - I loved this sunscreen, it was moisturizing, didn’t leave my face oily or with a white cast and offered supposedly SPF 50 protection. Some lab results tested it and it came back at around SPF 19 and another test came back at SPF 30ish. I obviously no longer count on this sunscreen as my primary sunscreen but when working from home and far from windows I wear it and try to reapply it, not throwing it away until it’s finished! It’s an affordable physical sunscreen. Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 - this sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen. I learned after I bought it that one of the ingredients is not good for the coral reefs so never buying again. It burns, leaves my face oily and has a strong scent that I don’t like. As a chemical sunscreen it doesn’t leave a white cast. ETUDE - Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF 50+ PA+++ - I bought this off of a recommendation for a substitution for the purito one. It’s very light and absorbs easily but it does leave a white cast which lead me to buy the next one. Australian Gold - Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50 - this sunscreen is awesome. I never wear makeup so I was nervous I’d look weird/different with a tinted sunscreen but that’s not the case. The color is to offset the white cast that is hard to not have with a mineral sunscreen. It’s pretty affordable at $10 for 3oz. Though I’ve tried multiple sunscreens I’m not done experimenting and trying new ones, just waiting to use up these four first. I go through sunscreens pretty fast though, with using them everyday and having to reapply once or twice. Let me know what your experience with these sunscreens has been and if you have any recommendations for physical sunscreens that don’t leave a white cast and don’t leave your face oily!

🧼Rebuilding My Moisture Barrier💧🤍
It’s always a balancing act when it comes from skincare. 😅 at least for me! Haha 💧I’ve had adult acne and have acne-primed skin, so when it comes to finding the right products that don’t over-strip my skin but also keep my breakouts & acne under control...you could say it’s been a journey! 💧If you saw one of my recent posts about my retinol breakout 😪 I’m back to familiar territory aka flaky, dry, inflamed skin aka my moisture barrier is damaged. And with the colder months, I’ve been spending more time trying to repair it. 💧These are some of the products that have been helping me: 🧴COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence : I recently purchased this essence and have really loved the effects. I use it after cleansing and find that it helps when I use it when my skin is still damp! It’s made my skin so soft & since it’s an essence, it allows for my other products to penetrate deeper into my skin. I will say, for those who are not really familiar with essences (especially this one), many often have a gel-like texture that isn’t super typical in some products (slightly sticky & for this one, slimy). 🧴CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin : my tried and true!!! I’ve been layering this product on, especially at night after the essence. Day or night, this lotion is a must-have in my book. It doesn’t feel oily on my skin and the hyalauronic acid is such a bonus since this an ingredient that helps draw in moisture into the skin. 🧴Krave - The Beet Shield : WORTH THE HYPE! Love Krave Beauty and I LOVE the Beet Shield. The texture is amazing, super light and dried down pretty quickly without a white cast. It makes me WANT to put on sunscreen and not just feel like I NEED to. 〰️After cutting back on the steps in my routine, and feeling& seeing results, I’ve been reintroducing these products for gentler exfoliation!〰️ 🧼CLARISMA - Cali Dreaming Cream Daily Moisturizer : the Clarisma moisturizer is super light and something I’ll typically wear during the day. It’s gentle and I like to wear it on days I’m inside especially since it is a lighter moisturizer and when I’m outside in the cold, I prefer something heavier. 🧼CLARISMA - Malibu Blush Exfoliating Scrub : the most gentle exfoliator! The exfoliating scrub isn’t at all like other physical exfoliants. The Luffa fruit breaks down when you use it so no micro tears with this one. The enzymes used also provide such a gentler exfoliation unlike most harsh acids. It also doesn’t cause hyperpigmentation, which I’ve experienced in the past with acids. 🏹Let me know what’s helped you with repairing or protecting your moisture barrier! 🤍
Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 4
Hey ya’ll! In part 4 of Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines we’re reviewing @Raks and @juliachristine’s skincare routines. Starting with @Rakswho reached out to me via Cherie message because she started skincare about a year ago because of her upcoming wedding. She starts by cleansing with theThursday Plantation - Tea Tree Face Wash Foam which costs $8.99 for 5.1 fl oz. This cleanser is very basic. It has tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil. My issue is with the eucalyptus oil, which is a very irritating essential oil right up there with lemon oil and peppermint oil. If this doesn’t irritate your skin then it’s a great cleanser, but I can’t recommend it to those with sensitive skin. Then she goes in with 4 serums. First is thepura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum which costs $14.99 for 4 fl oz. This is a really good serum. It has aloe vera juice, glycerin, jojoba oil, and argan oil which are hydrating ingredients, and then it has hylaronic acid, retinol, and Vitamin C. I love it! Then she uses#The Ordinary - Nicinamide Serum[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $5.90 for 1 fl oz. We’ve talked a lot about this serum, it’s very good. Next is the#Tree Of Life - Hylaronic acid serum[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $10.95 for 1 fl oz. I don’t like this serum. It started off good with hylaronic acid, aloe vera juice, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, but it contains way too many Essential oils and irritating extracts. And her final serum is theSkinMedica - LYTERA 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum which costs $130.90 for 2 fl oz, which is very expensive. This is not worth the price. It has nicinamide and glycerin, and then some not very researched acids. I don’t recommend continuing use of this serum. Then to moisturize she goes in with theOLAY - Regenerist Regenerating Day Cream which costs $29.99 for 1.7 fl oz. I don’t like this moisturizer. Let’s start with some positives. It has nicinamide, glycerin, and Vitamin B3. Now it has a lot of bad ingredients also. It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is a harsh cleansing agent, as well as fragrance being the 6th ingredient. The she uses a Neutrogena sunscreen, and occasionally usesThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which costs $7.20 for 1 fl oz. This is a great exfoliant. I think @Raks is using too many serums. I would stick to only the Pura D’or and The Ordinary serum, and ditch the other two. Keep the cleanser, and maybe try a different moisturizer. You asked for mineral sunscreen reccomendations for dark skin tones that don’t have a white cast, so I got you girl! I have light skin, but I did some research and I’d recommend the#First Aid Beauty - Weightless Mineral SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $34 for 1.5 fl oz, and the #Biossance - Squalane Zinc Sheer SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $30 for 1.7 fl oz. Both of these have minimal white cast, and Skincare by Hyram recommends them. Next is @juliachristine’s night routine. She starts off by cleansing with the #Vanicream - Unscented Gentle Cleanser[products]#[ThreeStars] witch costs $8.99 for 8 fl oz. This a nice basic cleanser with glycerin. Next she uses the#OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $84 for .7 fl oz. This cream has tretinoin which is a Vitamin A derivative which can treat acne, as well as retinol which also Vitamin A. I don’t think it’s worth the price, but it’s okay. Next she uses the #The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%[products]#[FourStars] which costs $7.99 for 1 fl oz. Along with azelaic acid, it has dimethicone which is a great moisturizer for dry skin. Next she uses theCeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which costs $17.99 for 15 fl oz. Y’all know I love this product! Finally she finishes off with theVERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream witch costs $17.99 for .5 fl oz. Eye cream is definitely not necessary but this one is great! It has glycerin, algae extract, and olive oil which are hydrating, along with shea butter and a blend of peptides which can help firm the skin and increase collagen production which can help reduce fine lines around the eyes. Overall @juliachristine your routine looks great! That’s it for this post please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment your opinions on these products, and follow me for similar content. Upcoming posts include a 1 month Curology review and unnecessary skincare steps you don’t need. -Mae

My Winter 2021 Skincare Routine
Hey guys, I’m going to be reviewing my 2021 winter skincare routine! PURITO - Comfy Water Sun Block This sunscreen is my go to. It’s so light and amazing, and really does the job. Keeping those UV rays without even being able to tell I have a sunscreen on. This sunscreen leaves no white cast either. Amazing! Mineral sunscreens are very sustainable as well. CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin I’ve been using this Salicylic Acid based cleanser for a couple months now, and can for sure tell the difference of the texture of my skin, and my pores. I’ll be also posting a full review of this product as well. No fragrance, and gets all the dirt and excess makeup off my skin. Amazing and no bad reactions! The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I’ve already reviewed this serum, so you can scroll down my account to see my opinion, but it is amazing. Super hydrating, light, a little tacky feel at first (takes a second to absorb into my skin) but afterwards I have a plump and hydrated feeling throughout my skin! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I started using this serum late July 2020. So far, no bad thoughts about it. This serum is super light, and really makes a difference. I’ll also be posting a full review on this product. A big difference in my pores since before I started using it. Less clogged pores, and a much smoother texture skin in problematic areas. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream This is my favorite winter moisturizer. It’s super thick, and absorbs well into my skin. It leaves me skin with a nice and soft feel to it. Using this moisturizer during the winter is amazing because it leaves my skin very hydrated throughout the whole day without any dry patches! CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream I’ve been using this since the summer of 2020, and I haven’t noticed much of a difference. You could probably just use your moisturizer as an eye cream, because I can’t tell a difference in my skin. I’m not going to waste it though and I’ll finish it off. Otherwise just use moisturizer as an eye cream. Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant Lastly, my favorite lip balm. The best way to keep your lips moisturized all year long is to use this product. I haven’t had any cracked lips or lip problems in years since I started using this product. Amazing and will never stop using Aquaphor!
It’s fine but... not for me 🤷♀️
Cerave is one of the largest and most popular brands in the world. It has simply blown up this year with everyone from magazine editors to influencers to dermatologists talking about it. It is a drug store brand that focuses on healing ceramides in their products and thus with my dry skin I figured I would try it out. As my eye area is really dry (cracks and flakes) I figured it would be the ideal area to try a cream. Price: This eye cream is very popular as it is very affordable in the USA, however in Canada is is much more expensive. It is not outrageous but at $25 cad I can find eye creams that I enjoy and work better for me. Packaging: I know packaging isn’t the be all end all but I must admit if it doesn’t look cute on the vanity it has to be amazing for me to buy it... and with cerave as a whole I really hate their packaging. It looks to me like old school medicine packages which takes out the joy from doing my routine 😢. Effectiveness: I have dry and acne prone skin with an extremely dry under eye area, so dry they sometimes crack and bleed. Therefore I thought this would be amazing with the ceramides. I do like the soft cream texture and the area never got horribly dry but I never felt it nourished enough. Also I did not notice any reduction in wrinkles or brightness (it has niacinimide), which was disappointing. And the worst thing is that it caused milia which I have never got before even when I used Vaseline nightly for years 😭. Pros 👍: It’s accessible as it sold in most drug stores it feels nice going on it has a good list of ingendients. Ceramides and niacinimide Cons👎 it’s pricy if you don’t live in the states the packaging is ugly the cruelty status is in question 🐰 I didn’t notice any results after 9 months it gave me milia!! CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream all in all I think this cream might work for some but it really didn’t work for me.

Starting tretinoin and spironolactone
After 6 months of researching products and learning more about my skin and what works, I have finally found out the root cause of my acne. I feel like I’ve always had a good, consistent skincare routine. I’ve even made good lifestyle choices such as changing my pillow case every week, cutting out diary, limiting junk food, and drinking lots of water. However, I did not see any improvements with my skin. I mainly break out on my cheeks, chin, and jawline, especially when I’m on or about to start my period. I recently consulted a doctor for free thanks to my university’s student health services. She told me that this is hormonal for sure. I had been producing an excess of androgen hormones which lead to more oil production and eventually more acne. She prescribed me with spironolactone and tretinoin. I started taking these medications a few days ago. I think I’m in the purge period right now. I’m so glad I finally have closure on what has been causing my acne. I’ve never had serious acne problems in the past so this has been really frustrating. Current skincare routine: Morning: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night: íUNIK - Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil I also use the THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser every other night. If I need to subside a pimple, I would use Rael - Acne Healing Patch or the COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch I’ve been taking spironolactone every morning and applying my .025% tretinoin every other night. I’m giving my skin time to adjust to the tretinoin so I will start applying it nightly next week. For those who have taken spironolactone or tretinoin: how long did it take for you to see less breakouts? And can I still use my salicylic acid cleanser while on tretinoin?
My skincare journey
The 1st 2 photos were from summer of 2020 & the 3rd photo was taken today. I’ve come such a long way with my skincare journey and I am honestly so proud of myself. The pandemic has been so tough for everyone especially on their mental health. I am usually very quiet about my mental health issues but I had to speak up about it and how it affected everything in my life. Staying cooped up at home every day took a toll on my mental health all together & it hit an all time low when I was sexually assaulted last yr in May. I let myself go and lost control of everything such as my sleep, skincare, diet & social life. It got to a point where I started losing clumps of my hair in the shower & I want everyone out there to know that it gets better. Im nowhere close to feeling my best but looking back, I’ve made such a huge difference. My skin got so bad to a point where I hated seeing people and applying makeup just made it worse and cakey. I researched a bunch of products & used everything on my face at the same time which caused my skin to react poorly and flare up. It was red & covered in pimples & whiteheads. At this point I believed that, okay I do not feel beautiful and compared myself to every other woman. Its so important to know that a few pimples or marks doesn’t make you any less beautiful. Everyone’s journey is so different and patience and time can fix it. I can explain and link the products I used, Retinol THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum So I initially used this every single night along with Niacinamide and oh man, I wish I hadn’t. I didn’t know that you were supposed to build tolerance to it. So I started using it once a week & then slowly switched to using it every other day. My skin actually started feeling a bit better. Niacinamide The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% So I read a couple of articles about WOC talking about how this product didn’t exactly suit their skin & once I started using it I noticed it never really made any difference to my skin & found it to sting a little. I still want to give it a chance so I use a tiny bit & I noticed there’s no stinging. So I might’ve been using too much for it to do that. Facial cleanser CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin I switched from cetaphil to CeraVe and I am so happy that I did. Whats weird is this cleanser made me realize that I don’t have oily skin (I’m not sure how this happened but if anyone knows, please help me out here) Moisturizer LANEIGE - Water Bank Moisture Cream Okay so I know a lot of people might not be too happy with this product since it contains fragrance but after trying so many different types of moisturizers, this is the only one that really made a difference on my skin 🥺 I am not trying to get you to buy these products. These are just things that worked for me and it took a lot of time. Listen to your skin & do what works best for you. You are so so beautiful 💕

Current Products I'm Using
I have oil/combo skin and been struggling with hormonal acne for a few years now which is mainly around my chin. I have noticed some positive changes but also some negative ones, for example I have more blackheads in areas besides my nose which I never had before. Here are the products I've been using lately. AM Routine I don't cleanse in the morning just splash water on my face and pat dry, then I apply PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster after I apply moisturizer e.l.f. - Holy Hydration! Face Cream - Fragrance Free then sunscreen Supergoop! - Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50 With Sunflower Extract PM Routine During the day I don't wear much makeup just some mascara so I just use GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water with Rose Water for my first cleanse, then I go in with PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore Normalizing Cleanser which I am just about out of so I will be using CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanserwhich I haven't tried before but decided to buy it because of all the hype! Than I apply my toner and depending on my skin at the time I will either use PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore-Reducing Toner or I'm from - Rice Toner I have just recently purchased and starting using The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% then I moisturizer with THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer I use PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator twice a weeks and PAULA'S CHOICE - 1% Retinol Treatment with Peptides + Vitamin C 3 times a week. My skin is still breaking out so I'm gonna try eliminating certain products to see if I can pin point what is causing the breakouts and blackheads. I recently purchased a cleansing brush and I'm gonna start by eliminating the Paulas choice BHA Exfoliator and start using the brush 2 or 3 times a week instead. If that's not the problem then I'm gonna try taking out the Vitamin C. If anyone has any advice or tips I am all ears!!!
Brands I love ❤️
For Valentine's day I figure I'd make a post about brands I LOVE and highly recomend! Paula’s choice I know I do not own many of her products and I think it’s because I want to try other brands as I explore the vast skincare world. I already know this one is trustworthy in my book. They not only have a great resource with their ingredient dictionary, but they use that knowledge and transparency to formulate great products. Even the negative reviews on this brand that I've seen still say they formulate very well. They are slightly on the pricey side (expect about $40 or more), but you cannot go wrong. I love their PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator especially and have used their PAULA'S CHOICE - Defense Nightly Reconditioning Moisturizer Krave Beauty They don’t carry a lot of products in their brand, but like a fine dining restaurant with a small menu, what they make is their specialty. Their products are reasonably priced and they focus on non-irritating effective ingredients to help your skin barrier. I currently have their Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser and their Krave - Great Barrier Relief Inkey List I love this brand and that they are making simple products with usually only once active and that allows people to try them to see how it effects their skin for a reasonable price. I currently have their rosehip oil because I didn’t know how my skin would react to it, but it’s known for hydrating and evening skin tone. I currently use their THE inkey LIST - Rosehip Oil Cosrx Another good brand that formulates well while still being very reasonably priced. I love their COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence CeraVe A tried and true brand. There is a reason why dermatologists recommend this. CeraVe is formulated with non irritating ingredients, that may make them seem “boring” by not being packed with actives, but effective. I have a few of their products. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream and CeraVe - Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum
Thoughts on Morning Skincare Routine?
Hey everyone! I’m so impressed with the Cherie community and how much I’ve learned from others on this site already that I thought I would share my morning skincare routine! For context: I am a 24 year old who in the past year has struggled with moderate adult acne (only along the chin/jawline). In the past few months I have become very passionate about skincare and finding a skincare routine that works for me! Please leave any comments below if you have suggestions for me to add/replace in my routine! I am still somewhat new to the skincare community so any and all suggestions and comments are welcome!!☺️ First I cleanse with CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser while I am in the shower and I leave this cleanser on for about 2 minutes before washing it off. I love benzoyl peroxide because I found it is one of the only ingredients to be effective in fighting acne (salicylic acid didn’t do the trick😭). Second I follow with The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution for my daily exfoliation. I know it’s controversial to use glycolic acid in the morning but I’ve had a lot of people tell me it’s okay to do as long as you are following it up with a good moisturizer and sunscreen! I have some acne scarring (just redness) along my chin and jawline and I have found overtime this product has worked wonders to diminish those scars! Third I use 1% clindamycin which was prescribed by the doctor for my acne and it has been absolutely amazing combined with the benzoyl peroxide! Fourth I apply NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% I love this formulation and I use it mainly to help with the acne scarring that has occurred. Although it can be a little sticky, it gives your face a really nice glow that I just love. Fifth I apply NATURIUM - Vitamin C Super Serum Plus this product contains a cocktail of fabulous ingredients, and I find that the combination of this with the Niacinimide has just strengthened my skin. Sixth I apply one of my favorite products ever CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin This product has been a life savior as it is non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and so hydrating! Truly an incredible product! Finally I apply elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I absolutely love this sunscreen because it’s formulated by dermatologists specifically for people with sensitive or acne proned skin. I absolutely love that it comes in a tinted version so it doesn’t leave a white cast, and it’s a great base for makeup! My one complaint is that it is a bit expensive for a small bottle. However, if you’re willing to pay the money it’s definitely worth it! That’s my routine! Please comment and let me know what you think/suggestions you have:)
CeraVe-Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser
Hi! After over a year of my skin thriving, it started to struggle recently (I haven’t left the house in a while and probably haven’t been drinking enough water). I thought it might be because of my moisture barrier and after doing some research I got CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion to help repair it. I have super sensitive skin and a lot of products burn or cause me to break out but I heard CeraVe was great for sensitive skin. I’ve been using this product for a few days now and it burns my skin and causes redness and irritation every time I put it on. And I’ve gotten some little bumps on my face since starting it. Does anybody know why? It also doesn’t feel moisturizing even though my skin isn’t super dry to begin with. I want to learn more about my sensitive skin but I cannot seem to find a pattern in products that work and don’t. My main skin concerns are sensitivity, redness, and large pores. I’m hoping you guys can help and recommend products. Thanks in advance! Btw the third picture is from before I started this product (no face makeup on). Products that have worked: Aveeno - Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser Eucerin - Redness Relief, Dermatological Skincare, Night Creme (I’ve been using this for years but it started burning slightly the last couple week so I decided to try something else) FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum LA ROCHE-POSAY - Serozinc Face Mist Simple - Kind to Skin Micellar Cleasing Water (and every other micellar water I’ve tried, I use this to cleanse in the mornings instead of washing my face) Products that surprisingly didn’t work: Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser (this product burned my skin and dried me out more than the clear complexions one, causing my skin to flake for the first time ever) GARNIER - SkinActive The Gentle Sulfate-Free Cleanser (burned my skin but less than other products have) The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (broke out my skin really badly - I tried to wait it out to see if it was just purging but it didn’t get better. It didn’t burn though) elta md SKINCARE - UV Shield Full-Body Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 45 (works on my body but I saw reviews that said it works for sensitive faces too... but it made me break out on my face) belif - The True Cream Aqua Bomb (burned my skin) Simple - Kind to Skin Moisturizing Facial Wash (burned my skin a bit but didn’t cause breakout or excessive dryness)

Do you worry about acne after your workout
Hey Everyone! So these are some products that helped me feel better after working out! So the first two products are really good for sensitive/dry skin. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser THE inkey LIST - Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Gentle Exfoliating Toner FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser - I use this as a double cleanse in my nighttime routine, and a single cleanser after the gym. It cleans the dirt and sweat really well. THE inkey LIST - Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Gentle Exfoliating Toner - I then go in with this toner to get excess dirt off. SKYORGANICS - Vitamin E Oil - I finish up with Vitamin E oil because it’s light enough to last me until my night time shower. Now the next two products are for more acne prone skin PanOxyl - Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strength - use this if you get back acne or just any acne after sweating. I bought it for my boyfriend who works out everyday so after the gym he will rinse off with this bad boy and everything is all good. THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser - this is the extra step to take to really make sure you get the excess dirt off. SKYORGANICS - Vitamin E Oil - Still follow up with a moisturizer because benzoyl peroxide can be very drying and you want to keep the good stuff in. Thank you if you have anything to add leave a comment below! Follow me as well to help me become more educated about all the different skin.

Birth Control Rebound Skin Savers
I resent it quit my birth control (the kyleena IUD) and my skin freaked out. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures but I started breaking out in hormonal acne and little bumps all over my chin and forehead. And here’s the routine that helped support my skin CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser I use this product morning and night to gently cleanse. I’d like to give this more stars but I’ve only been using it for about a month and I’m still not COMPLETELY converted. I love how hydrating and gentle it feels on the skin, it doesn’t damage my skins moisture barrier and I never feel stripped and tight after cleansing. However it doesn’t seem like it would work very well to remove an oil cleanser and additionally I feel like I need to cleanse longer when my skin is oily but since I mostly break out due to dryness I like it. CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin A classic holy grail for a reason. It’s super moisturizing, skin barrier friendly, doesn’t break me out and is just all around a great product. I use this morning and night The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution I use this every 2-3 days at night time to exfoliate. It helps get rid of texture and dark spots and works very well, however; it causes a bit of a tingling/stinging sensation since my skin is super sensitive but it goes away within a minute. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Combats sensitivity, and inflammation and helps sooth redness which is amazing for healing breakouts. I will say I’m sure it’s doing it’s job but you won’t see any drastic overnight differences COSRX - Natural BHA Skin Returning Emulsion The BHA and centella asiatica extract in this are an amazing combination for any acne or blackheads. This changed the appearance of the bumps on my forehead and chin overnight. It’s super gentle and feels great on the skin. This is one of my favourite products COSRX - Master Patch Combo Just like the BHA toner this product is amazing especially because I have the awful habit of picking my skin. These draw out all the hung and impurities and blend into the skin so much better than I thought they would. They also have a bit of a blueing effect on the spot so it hides the angry redness and they are even great for day wear. These get rid on any problem spots practically over night. Kiehl's - Super Fluid Daily UV Defense SPF 50+ Sunscreen is nonnegotiable for me especially because I’m so prone to dark spots. This one is super lightweight and doesn’t smell like sunscreen which is great but I think it’s a little over priced. It’s still a great product though FOREO - LUNA mini 2 This cleansing brush is amazing. I’ve been using it for 4 years and It helps clean out your pores and leaves your looking super dewy and fresh

Best Acne Nighttime Treatment (non-fungal)
Okay so I’ve posted results of my use of Differin Gel & now I’m going to post my usual routine. (When I’m not wearing makeup). My skin is so weird now since I started using Differin Gel (I went from extreme oily to more combo/oily). Step 1 cleanser CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser I use this when my skin is dry from the day. If I used a mask earlier or a scrub this usually happens. I also like this because I find that adding that extra moisture is important to prep for the Differin gel -or- LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser for Oily Skin I use this of my skin is extra oily from the day. It’s for oily sensitive skin . Sometimes when I go outside with my heavier sunscreen it leaves that annoying oily feel at the end of the day (especially in my t-zone). This cleanser is amazing. I bought the travel size because it was first time trying it but I’ll definitely get the biggest size when I run out! Step 2- I left out my toner because I threw away my Kiehl's - Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner after doing more research into the ingredients & ordered my regular toners I used to use. Step 3 Treat: Serum: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% this is great for my pores and acne breakout I already have. I know it’s totes for oil control to, but I use it all over my face. *Actives* DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel this is my HG acne treatment. I’ve been using religiously it & now I need to buy a new! (I have a lost how to apply correctly). BURT’S BEES - Natural Acne Solutions Maximum Strength Spot Treatment Cream **NEVER USE THIS THE SAME NIGHT AS DIFFERIN GEL!** I use this if I get a really bad spot that I want gone by the morning. It’s the highest concentration of salicylic acid you can get over the counter & it has willow bark (a great pair for salicylic acid). I love a majority of Burt’s bees products due to the high natural ingredients. BURT’S BEES - Renewal Smoothing Eye Cream I did a previous post about using this & how its a effective retinol alternative. I have sensitive under eyes and don’t like to put too many harsh ingredients. This works great for my fine lines. Step 4 moisturize: CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion I love this moisturizer. It’s not too heavy but just enough ingredients to be effective. It has that extra added niacinamide I need fr my pores & it doesn’t clog my pores at all! WELEDA - Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Cream I only use this if my skin is extra dry. This will replace my CeraVe (don’t want too much moisture). A little of this goes a long way! I use like two pea-size dots and it covers my entire face dr. brandt - Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask after my moisturizer. I love how this replenishes my moisture. I use this mask 2 times a week.
