Highlight Comparison: Creme vs. Powder
I am a fan of all highlighter textures, but in recent months, my go-tos have all been crème formulas – with my favorite being Bodyography’s dual stick crème highlight. It’s the most perfect champagne color and it melts into the skin to create the perfect shimmery-dewy-glowy effect. Compared to powder formulas like Physician’s Formula’s Butter Highlight, I find crème highlights to be the best for creating a natural glow. I always apply my crème highlights with my fingers, which adds to the natural no-makeup makeup effect and helps me get closer to the areas I want to highlight and draw light to. I find myself reaching for powder formulas when I want a real strobing look and layer it on top of my cremes for a dramatic, eye-catching look.
PHYSICIANS FORMULA-Butter Highlighter
Nars Illuminator - Copacabana
This Nars Copacabana Illuminator is a creamy, liquid highlighter that gives skin a translucent sheen, while vitamins and emollients hydrate. I definitely go for a more natural looking highlight. This one is a cool pearly pink tone, similar to the Benefit High Beam. The Nars formula easily blends down into a superfine sheen that that gives a lit from within glow. A little goes a long way - you only need a tiny drop. I apply to my brow area, bridge of my nose, cheekbones, and cupid’s bow. On special occasions, I’ll sometimes apply to my collar bones.
TOO FACED | You’re So Jelly Highlighter
Too Faced - Tutti Frutti You're So Jelly An oldie but a goodie! ✨ This is Too Faced’s You’re So Jelly Highlighter! It is a bouncy liquid highlighter in a beautiful champagne shade. The highlighter goes on to the skin wet and dries down to stay in place. I’ve used this for over a year now! There is so much product in this one container. At first, I thought the shimmer would be too intense, but I have to say that I love it! Sometimes I wear this alone and sometimes I use a powder highlighter on top. It looks beautiful either way! I enjoy that you can make this look more natural or you can really layer it for an intense glow. The texture was a bit weird to me at first because it’s neither a liquid or a cream but I got used to it and I’ve never had an issue with how it applied over makeup. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a different type of highlighter they can wear either on bare skin or over makeup. This is definitely for people who love champagne shades! The only thing I will say is that the fruity scent might be too strong for some people. Personally, I didn’t mind it though! I will continue to use this amazing product! ✨
Too Faced-Tutti Frutti You're So Jelly
Cute makeup that pops makes me so happy. Here is another gorgeous gem from Perfectshade, Berry Burst Highlighter. This little gem is £8 😱, wait till you see it’s blinding effect. “Who burst the berry? A light blue highligher pallete with all the “bursting” atributes to help bring out your features. Small particles with fine flashes, lets your cheeks suddenly bang up! The delicate powder gives you a sense of riding a pair of roller skates to glide freely. the “disco” ball has begun to turn and the spotlight is lit only for you.”

KAJA BEAUTY MOCHI GLOW BOUNCY HIGHLIGHTER
Kaja - Mochi Glow Bouncy Highlighter in 03 Luna If you’re looking for something to give you the most natural, soft glow, this is it! The Kaja Mochi Glow highlighter is so beautiful on the skin because it just melts right into the skin and looks flawless. The texture is super unique because it’d say it’s in between a powder and a cream. It feels a little like putty when you touch it and applies like a powder does on the skin- only smoother. I love using this when I want a natural sheen and nothing too eye-catching.
